《The most human elf in Shaylet - Paused until further notice》Something is different 5

I exited my inner world and checked my entire body again. The screen mightve told me that I had been poisoned but it didnt tell me when or where the poison was. I checked my entire body starting with the places I knew most people would poison someone. It wasnt until I reached my feet till I found it though. My left foot was completely black and it was spreading up my leg. I could see little black lines wrapped around my leg like a serpent threatening to crush my bones. It wasnt painful, I couldnt feel anything which was terrifying. I could even move my foot normally and feel things like nothing was wrong. It was a bit stiff but that couldve been anything. I was struggling to keep myself calm. Whatever this was it was spreading fast enough for me to be able to see it actually moving across my skin, not too fast but fast enough to make it obvious I was running out of time. Using green mana on it did nothing but slow it down slightly, using divinity with the green mana made it speed up for some reason. I had nothing I could do, I had no choice but to call for help. Luckily I could still hear some children playing around just outside the door.
"HEY! IS SOMEONE THERE? CALL FOR JONAH I NEED HELP!"
The sound of children running away followed shortly after so I hoped they had heard me and were going to get help. I wasnt in any pain and could still move but now that I was aware of it I could feel this weird sensation of something crawling under the skin on my leg. The door burst open shortly after and I was releived to see Jonah there with one of his subordinates, who immediately walked up and started examining my leg. Jonah oddly kept his distance from me and observed from a chair in the corner.

"Is it corruption?" He asked his subordinate, startling me with his question. But before I could ask him about it his subourdinate replied.
"Yes, its pretty bad." What the hell? How did corruption get inside my foot?
I had millions of questions but I settled for just one. His question had me quite curious.
"Were you expecting this?"
He sighed and then looked me straight in the face.
"Yes, we heard about your fight with the mad guild and they have a habit of spreading corruption around. Corruption is like a poison to those with divinity, its not that bad if its on the outside. But if you are in contact with it for too long or it gets inside your body it feeds on divinity and grows until you become a monster."
This new information was very unsettling and so was the tools the subourdinate started taking out.
"Hey, Hey , HEY whats with the knives and the mallet and the needles? Why are you taking that out?" He was starting to make me think the treatment was worse than the infection, expecially when he took out some sort of corkscrew looking needle and placed it next to my leg on the bed.
Jonah was the one to reply.
"We need to extract it, It cannot stay in you any longer or it will gain control of your limb and extraction will be impossible. Then we will have to remove the leg." He pointed at a large axe and saw that his servant pulled out of nowhere to make his point.
"I will begin." The guy said after he was done pulling stuff from somewhere. He pulled a small peice of wood and a small flask from somewhere and handed it to me. I took a swig from the flask and coughed, it was the strongest drink I have ever tasted. After a few more swigs I was tipsy and put the wood piece in my mouth. He immediately started cutting into the flesh of my leg, sending terrible pain throughout my body. It was odd, I had been cut before but this hurt way more than it should have. He finished and I looked to see it was only a small but deep cut just above my ankle in the meat of my leg. He then proceeded to start shoving the needles into the cut, I braced myself for pain but I felt nothing. Even as I watched him poke and prod the sharp objects into my leg with precision I felt no pain. Just that weird crawling sensation again.

After a while of poking inside my leg he took the flask back from me, filled a small glass with it and then set it on fire. He put both the needles into the fire and held them there till they were obviously hot and still on fire he shoved the needles back into the cut. Which brought out a shrill screetching that came from none other than the cut in my leg. I looked in horror as a damn mouth bit its way out of my leg. Horrible pain shot through my body and Jonah actually had to come over and hold me down while his servant worked.
"Oh, this one is quite bad" He said calmly like he was watching me get a tick removed. The only thing going through my mind was how bad this pain was. He handed me the flask and I took a huge swig to try and numb at least a little of the pain. It barely helped as the mouth was still screetching and trying to chew its way through my leg and escape. The man pulled out a weird clamp and put it onto the creature's mouth, shutting it up and preventing it from chewing on me anymore. I was extremely grateful for that but then the man took out the knife again and started cutting again. Every time I almost passed out Jonah would keep me awake with some sort of jolt of energy that I didnt recognize.
"You need to be awake so you can fight it. If you fall asleep it will gain control of you easier" He said while jolting me awake for the 13th time. The man was now pulling out a tiny hook and the corkscrew needle, I got nervous while thinking about what he was going to do with it but then he just used the hook and pierced the creature around its mouth. Pulling it gently out while he also peirced it with the corkscrew and twisted it, making sure it never went deep enough to pierce me and only went into the creature. I could hear it struggling and trying to scream in pain, all I could think was Thats what you get you bastard.
The more he pulled the more of the creature was revealed. It was pitch black and had hundreds of little tentacles shooting out in all directions which were wiggling furiously. The more he pulled on it the thinner and longer its tentacles got. It was also extremely ugly and flat with tiny lumps spread all over. The way it was flailing made it look very pissed off. I looked at my foot and it was no longer black, with the exception of a few tendrils here and there it was mostly gone. The man started collecting the creature and its tentacles in a bucket, I could tell this was about to feel really weird.

Dungeon's Path
The only places I have posted the story and allow it to exist are on RoyalRoad, Scribblehub, and my Patreon. So the world ended. Whoopsie? We didn’t even see it coming. Quite literally as it came at us faster than the speed of light. Don’t worry though, it got better. Also, I am not joking about the world ending. Most people say that and mean humans are inconvenienced for some reason. Nope, all matter disintegrated at the atomic scale there for a few moments. Apparently the local universe wasn’t actually stable? Don’t ask me to go into too much detail. It would require both of us to have a few more college degrees than sense, and I at least lack them (both the degrees and the sense). Anyway, the energy/matter/wibbly wobbly strings were at a local minimum and not the universal minimum. Basically, what we took for sea level was actually a nice little mountain lake and when the dam busted so did, well, everything. Now here is where things go a bit off track with what normal meant before. You see magic is real, qi is real, gods are real. Not on old Earth mind you but souls pay little attention to time and space so we dreamed of it. In fact, the closer the shift in reality got to Earth, the closer our dreams got to the new reality. This is basically me tip toeing around the fact that it was a ‘System Apocalypse’. Reality became a video game, I became a dungeon, and this is my story. Doyle Huxley just wanted a normal life but as the above might clue you in on that just isn’t in the cards. He gets to experience a “Path Based System Apocalypse” and some early paths he takes, both literally and figuratively, lead to him becoming a dungeon. The aim is to release chapters once a week on Friday. Cursing will be avoided and no naughty adult action will take place in the story.

Reality started crumbling the day I died and reincarnated. The enigmatic God offered some answers, but at the same time created more questions. Given a goal both absurd and ambiguous, I choose to start my new life. It sounded good and all, but first, I would have to avoid being eaten by my new family, or killed by the inhabitants of this new world. This is the story of how I tried to stay human when the world pushed me to become something else. A Swarm. Writing for fun and as a way to improve my English. Overpowered protagonist haters begone. The cover isn’t from my authorship, I just found it on the internet.

Brian Jeffries wakes up in a bed that is not his own, in a room dimly lit, surrounded by a large group of others just like him. This group of twenty-five finds themselves teleported to the land of Exandria, a world of swords and magic, of elves and orcs, of dungeons and dragons. A strange old man informs them that they are the newest members of the Adventurer's Guild, a group that takes contracts all around the world for gold and glory. For these normal humans the choice is simple: Serve or be executed. The captives are split into parties and sent out on their first jobs. Follow Brian and his newfound allies as they learn to become professional adventurers, complete contracts for the Guild, and maybe find a way home. To honor the source material's Dungeons and Dragons roots, I will be rolling dice throughout the development of this story. Everyone has a character sheet. From combat encounters to social interactions, everything that can be rolled will be rolled. See how a natural 1 can turn the tide of a battle, how a successful intimidation check can subvert a fight, or how deception can reveal critical info. No one is safe and anything can happen when you put your fate in your hands, take a chance, roll the dice. A Critical Role Fanfiction
