The barrier crumbled to reveal the already completed sacrifice and the cultists leader chanting while on his knees next to a large cauldron that was pulsating with energy. A thick green paste was seeping out of it with angry red pulsating vains throughout it. Captain Lucy ordered him bound and gagged and then proceeded to try and identify the obcene ritual that took place here. I on the other hand walked closer to the cauldron and climbed up the side to look in.

Even though stuff was dripping over the lid the cauldron was far from full. The contents were just as green and slimy as what was dripping out of it. They were also rising slowly, but steadily with large lumps forming in the gross soup. I jumped down to get away from that stuff, whatever it is it isnt good.

"Hey!, Captain lady!" I yelled trying to get her attention over the orders she was barking at everyone else. She heard me and looked at me with a annoyed expression.

"This this is filling itself up with some sort of corrupted liquid, I think the ritual he completed has something to do with this."

I watched as her eyes widened and she ran over, climbing up the side of the cauldren to see for herself. Once she confirmed it for herself she dropped off the side and ordered the fastest one of them there to go inform the higher ups. Then she turned back to me.

"You, elf."

"My name is finch."

"Whatever" she said with a dismisive wave. "I saw you fighting earlier and you have some sort of flame spell right?"

"Yeah, what about it? I dont think it will be very effective at destroying this goo."

"Not the goo, we have lots of metal sheilds here, we can make a lid and seal it if we hurry."

That kind of makes sense, I dont have any better ideas so I help her with that. She had a bunch of men gather together the shields that have no wood reinforcements in them and pile them together. Me and the captain were arranging them together and I adjusted my flame to be smaller and alot hotter, so that I can weld the shields together and make a seal. There were a couple gaps, but we filled those by just melting some unenchanted gauntlets till they were flat and used them to seal the holes. She was suprised at first when she saw the flame coming out of my hand without a chant and constant, but she didnt ask me about it. We were too busy for me to answer anyway, the liquid was just about to reach the top of the cauldron and we were almost done. A couple more sheilds and gauntlets later and we finished, a small group helped us lift the makeshift lid onto the cauldron and I welded it down to secure it. We made sure it was completely sealed before we stepped back and looked at it.

For extra safety I burned some runes into the lid as we made it, to strengthen the metal and make it last longer. But I knew it wouldnt last very long. We have to get it out of the city, I dont know how we would move it though. Then I remembered something.

"Hey, I have an idea. What If we use those roads the zombies are building to get this out of the city? Then whatever happens we can deal with it outside."

She nodded as it seemed that she liked the idea and agreed with it.

She told me that while the road isnt finished, we can probably still use it as they completed enough of it for at least one wagon to get through at a time if they are careful. What she didnt tell me is what she meant by 'wagon'. The biggest guards she had were told to lug the big cauldron over to a cart that was sitting in front of the warehouse that one of them had found. The cart was then pulled towards the road and loaded into Lucy's 'wagon'. Which was a large canopy wagon with some sort of huge metal box in the front of it. The metal box had pipes going from the front of the wagon to the back just above the wheels. The back of the wagon was just a large platform which was where they put the cauldron. I made sure to set the warehouse on fire again before I left, there were some guards stationed there for a while to make sure they didnt leave any suprises behind. So I trusted them to not let the fire spread too far.

The cauldron was secured to the platform and we got going, we dont want this thing leaking on the way outside. The metal box roared to life as one of the guardsmen got into the front, I was riding on the back with Lucy and the cauldron. The wagon shot forward pulling us through the town, it wasnt as fast as their subway but it would get us out of the city quickly. The guards shouted ahead at anyone who was in the way, because his orders were to not slow down at any cost and those were the kind of orders he loved. He weaved through the dividers and the construction materials and machines so expertly I feel like this wasnt the first time he has done this. Well, at least we are making great time. From what I can tell we are already almost halfway across the city. It kind of makes me curious about what it in that metal box, Ill ask about it later. Maybe lari will know something about it? It seems the lamias are the ones to invent most of the technology they use in this place. Maybe when this is over I can get some ideas on more things to build in my inner palace.
