The room we were in was tiny and im pretty sure its getting warmer even though we were the only two in here. She has been staring directly into my eyes for the past 10 minutes as I tried to explain everything that has happened to me over the past couple months. Of course I omitted the parts about the gods and my divinity, making sure to leave Malady out of it too. She stared at me with a look that told me she didnt beleive a word I was saying.
I finally finished and she still had that look on her face, But then she looked to the side for a second in thought.
"You said as you fled the warehouse it was on fire?" She asked.
"Yeah, it was on fire and this big ass thing was screaming behind me."
She moved around some papers that were in front of her and pulled out what looks like a report. She read the details then passed it to me.
"Is this the warehouse that you were in?"
I looked at the paper which was a drawing of a warehouse with some writing underneath that stated where it was exactly and the details on its use. Apparently it was abandoned years ago because of some affliction that affected everyone that entered the building. Eventually they just stopped using it and left the goods inside to rot. This was definitely the same warehouse.
"Yep, thats it."
She immediately sat up and left the room. I could hear someone yelling from the other side of the door and boots stomping about. Maybe she beleived me after all and just had a bad case of resting bitch face. The yelling didnt stop even when she came back into the room. She sat back down and started asking more questions which didnt stop until a couple hours later. She finally stood up and gathered the papers together, leaving me alone in the room which was now about as hot as a sauna. The woman that was questioning me wasnt sweating or reacting to it in anyways so it must be some sort of interrogation thing. It wasnt ten minutes later that someone else came in the room with guards and took me back to the cell. The man with the guards told me that they would verify my story and then if I was telling the truth then they would let me go. As he left I overheard him telling the guards to get ready because they were about to got alot more prisoners.

I made sure to tell them about the big ass creature that was there so they should prepare accordingly. They wouldnt be stupid enough to attack without considering that. Right?

Lamis woke up in her bed, sweating. She sat up and looked around her room, it was really hot in here. She looked over the side of the bed and checked the small switch on the side. The heater that was built into the bed was turned on, Lamis never turns this heater on because it makes the room too hot. She got up and went to the bathroom to wash the sweat off. She passed by Finch's room, but noticed that the door was slightly open and she could taste something odd in the air. She looked into the room to see her sister in the bed tightly hugging the blankets. Lamis knows that when her sister is not sleeping in her bed she goes around stacking stuff. But she also knows that she shouldnt be sneaking into her guests beds while they are sleeping. So Lamis opened the door completely to see that Finch and all his stuff was gone. The little lamia girl checked the other rooms but Malady and Vylet was still there. Why would Finch leave without them?
She was very curious but then she realized she could taste her own sweat and continued to the bathroom to wash herself. She would ask them and her sister about it when they woke up.

The warehouse was buzzing with activity as they prepared their final sacrifices. Securing them to the floor on either side of a large cauldron, all of which was inside a massive circle drawn in blood on the floor. The members of the mad guild were busy reinforcing the doors and blocking any holes in the wall. They knew they were going to be under attack soon and were preparing to last as long as they could, they needed this ritual to be completed. If this ritual was completed they might finally be free. They were almost ready to start and they could not afford to be interupted so they were taking extra precautions. They had even caught some extra people as hostages when they need them. The oldest of them was sitting and preparing something, he was pushing all of his mana into a small crystal. He stopped when he started feeling sick, absorbed some more mana and started injecting it again.

He did this many times before he was satisfied and got up with his now cloudy gray crystal. He walking over to the monstrocity chained to the floor and looked into its eyes. That made it angry, it roared at him and he just tossed the crystal into its mouth. It was caught unaware and ended up swallowing it, which ended up angering it more. The man just chuckled and walked away. His mutated body creaking as he walked through his rushing subordinates which gave him a wide berth. Last time one of them bumped into him they ended up impaling themselves on a growth from his abdomen. You cant really tell through his robes but he actually had really sharp growths and out of place bones that could kill someone if he ever tried to give someone a hug, not like he ever would though.
After a long time their plans were coming to fruition, this ritual is something they have been researching and preparing for since they became the mad guild. They werent going to let anyone stop them.

Hazelsong: A LitRPG Novel
Release Schedule: I will be moving to a set release schedule as of 1/1/2022. A new chapter will be released every Saturday at Noon EST. If I have time that week for a second chapter, I will leave a note on the Saturday chapter and post the second chapter on Sunday at Noon EST. An up to date character sheet for the MC Erik will also be posted on Sundays at 12:15 PM. If life happens and I am for some reason unable to write that week, I will post a blank chapter giving you an update on where I am with my writing. Saturday Noon EST: First weekly chapter Sunday Noon EST: Second weekly chapter (if I have the time) Sunday 12:15 EST: Updated character sheet Synopsis: Years after surviving a deadly accident, Erik struggles to come to terms with his painful disability. When offered the chance to playtest the world's first full immersion VRMMO, he wants nothing more than to retreat back into his secluded life, until he learns what Hazelsong really offers. An escape from the pain. Hazelsong is a world of magic and adventure, a place where friendships are formed, loot is won, and glory and fame are there for the taking. While the threats feel real and the stakes are always high, there is only one thing Erik is really in danger of. Forgetting which world is actually real. Story Themes: Hazelsong is a LitRPG novel that not only explores the fictional world of a realistic online fantasy realm but the life of a man suffering in silence from chronic pain and PTSD due to a significant physical injury and disability. Mental health is an important subject and we all know at least one person in our lives who has or is dealing with some form of mental illness. I plan on putting my best effort forward to represent these illnesses in a fair and accurate manner. Not as a cheap plot device to help make the protagonist more unique, but to help paint an accurate picture for those of us who have been lucky enough to not have to suffer in silence. About the Author: I am Ash Durra, general video game nerd and a connoisseur of fantasy and sci-fi of all shapes and sizes. Needless to say, I am not a professional author (B.S. and M.S. in Education, 8 years teaching). After really getting into LitRPG novels over the past several years, I found my way to Royal Road, which has inspired me to use my spare time to begin writing a story of my own creation. As this is a hobby, I am not writing and posting chapters on any kind of specific schedule at the moment, though my goal is to post on average 1-2 chapters a week. I am incredibly excited to share this story with others as I write it, and I look forward to any constructive feedback about how I can improve in my writing.

Iron and Wood - A Tale Of Empire and Clans
For centuries, the Midlands had been split into fragments. A once glorious, united Empire has become a shadow of its former self. Unity has not returned, and not for the lack of trying. The greatest of these successor states were the Li Dynasty to the south, the rulers of old, and the Emerald Empire to the North, with its vibrant vitality. Unity is the end goal, and both will sacrifice anything to attain this elusive dream. For unity would surely solve the conflict that had long plagued this once prosperous continent. The Ironwood Clan was a prime player. Some would consider them the ones holding the reigns to the horse named 'Unification'. Iron and wood were the backbones of civilization; similarly, the Ironwoods were the backbones of the Northern Empire, and by extension, the people of the Midlands. Their methods, as questionable as they might be, had strengthened the North. Yet, were they enough? In the midst of it all, a young Ironwood who had lost his path must once again find his way. For the sake of his own wellbeing; for the sake of his clan; and for the sake of the Empire and its subjects. However, is he willing to sacrifice for the good of all? Is he willing to condemn some for the sake of others? Is he willing to make the right, albeit harsh, decisions? Only the heavens would know. Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, events and incidents are the products of the author’s imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. Additionally, any views and beliefs expressed by the characters are not the author's own. The story is also not an endorsement of any actions taken within. The 'profanity' and 'sexual content' warning tags are there to be safe (and to leave room for potential future changes), but for now these two things are not inside this novel. This is my take on 'cultivation', though it might be somewhat disconnected from the general idea of the genre. Release schedule: Two chapters a week. The cover was created using wombo art. While I believe that creations using the app are in the public domain, if that is not the case, I will take it down.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
