Lamis's sister looked pissed but still welcomed me kindly, Im pretty sure her anger was directed at her sister for leaving the city without telling anyone. She told me her name was impossible to pronounce in the common language and most people had trouble with it so she just goes by Lari. She led us to a cozy room with a fireplace and very soft looking sofa. The room had very little in decoration but was still warm and had plenty of furniture. There was a table with odd looking chairs and a cabinet that was built into the wall next to some bookshelves that were mostly empty. A small window in the corner let in some light from the city below. Lari led us to this room and hissed something down the hall before entering the room with us. We all sat down on the sofa and were promtly bombarded with questions about how we met.
Most of the questions were directed at lamis who shrunk away from her sister and answered honestly and as quickly as she could with that hissing of theirs.
"Speak in the common tongue sister, do not be rude to our guest." She gestured at me when saying this.
Lamis nodded and apologized to me before continuing. She explained that she only left because she saw Lari leaving through the front gate with several other Lamia. She followed them for a while but got lost. She tried to climb up a tree to get her bearings but accidentaly crushed a fairy's den and pissed of a fairy, who temperarily blinded her as punishment. She wanered around blind for a while before it got really cold which made her feel really bad, She managed to keep moving but eventually passed out. That was about when I found her.
Lari was very angry at her sister, dragging her out of the room after excusing herself and her sister. All I heard was loud and angry hissing on the other side of the door. I tried to ignore it by looking out of the window at the scenery below.

When the hissing stopped they came back in, Lamis was looking very sad as she just got chewed out by her sister. Lari still looked angry but not as much as earlier, she seemed kinda releived. They came back in an sat down where they did before.
"I apologize for that, I was simply angry that my sister left the city as she couldve gotten herself hurt."
I nodded at her, I never had any siblings but I could understand that feeling as I have seen it many times at the adventurers guild. Loud conversations about how their sibling was off fighting in some army somewhere or off adventuring in another country.
I continued telling her about what we did after I found Lamis. Which was kind of boring as we just came straight here. She listened and asked questions about Malady and Vylet. She asked about the cariage as well, probably because I kept mentioning how much I liked the thing. I finished the story just as the door opened to reveal a very short and slender woman pushing a cart. She was wearing a maids outfit and had tiny horns growing out of her forehead. She looked very young to be working as a maid, she was barely taller than the cart she was pushing.
Lari noticed me looking at her and explained.
"This is my maid, Nerie. She was abandoned by her parents and I had no other way to take care of her."
Lamis cheered up as soon as the little demon girl entered the room. Nerie saw Lamis and ran over to her.
"Lamis you are okay! I was so sad when I couldnt find you. Dont leave me alone like that again okay?" She was almost in tears holding lamis very tightly. Lamis was just as upset, almost crying while holding her friend tightly.
"Okayss, Lamissss isss sorrysss"
Lari and me were watching this whole thing happen. She was smiling at the two kids, I was still curious why Lamis was the only one that spoke the common tounge with that hiss.

"Why Is lamis the only one that speaks with that hiss when she talks in the common tounge, none of the other lamias I have met here do that."
Lamis was the first to answer. She turned her head to me and said.
"Becausess Lamisssss hasss disssss"
She stuck both her fingers in her mouth and pulled her cheeks open while sticking out her tongue. Which was split down the middle. The two sides of her tounge looked like thick worms in her mouth and she wiggled them at me. I also noticed she lacked teeth. No thats not right, I could see little marks where her teeth would be. They might just be retractable. Thats very weird, I found myself staring at her mouth. I turned my head away from the weird stare Lari was giving me for staring at her sisters mouth.
"wow" was all I could say. I looked at Lari and she stuck her tounge out at me as well. Her tounge was human-like but had a very deep crease in the middle. She chuckled and asked me if I had a place to stay yet.
"No I just arrived at the city with Lamis and the other two."
"Wonderful, you can stay here as long as you like as thanks for saving my sister."
I smiled and thanked her. That would be a big help now that we dont have to look for a place to stay. I told her I would go find my friends and bring them here.
"Okay, but dont be too long. I was already making dinner when you arrived. It should be done shortly." I nodded and headed out to go find the girls.
It took me a bit to figure out how to use the box at the end of the hall. A passing lamia explained it to me and told me it was called an elevator. She was going down too so she showed me how it worked as we went down. I thanked her when we reached the bottom floor and left, going through the lobby and heading outside.
I told them to meet me at the tallest building, we couldnt see the lamias buildings from the entrance so they should be going to that pointy building straight from the entrance. It was the tallest building that was visible from where we were standing so I hope they will go there.
I started jogging in the direction of the tall building.

Laskia was doing her usual rounds around the forest. Looking for signs of dangerous beasts or invaders nearby. She slithered around at a fast speed, her eyes looking around for any signs of someone or something passing through here. She found nothing but tracks that she recognized to be from the other guards. She would need to drill them on 'stealth' again. They had gotten complacent since we have never suffered an attack before. But Laskia was always prepared, which made her feel worse that Lamis got passed her and all the other guards somehow.
She finished her rounds and started heading back towards the guard post when she heard somthing. A faint whisltling in the air high above her. She climbed a thick tree as fast as she could, spinning around when she reached the top looking for any signs of danger. But once she reached the top, the whistling stopped. It made her very nervous and she waited there for a little bit before she left. She needed to get back and report this, so she rushed back towards the city. She slithered so fast she failed to notice a small reptilian scale sitting in the grass near the tree she climbed.
