《The most human elf in Shaylet - Paused until further notice》The metropolis of Harendia 2

Lamis took me around the city, showing me all her favorite places around the entrance to the city. She was apparently the sister of the lamia that was the representative of the lamias in the Harendian Court. So most people recognized her and gave her free treats, some even gave me some free food because she was with me. While we walked around she told me more about the city's inhabitants. Most of the undead stayed at the darkest part of the city, which was the farthest away from the entrance. That part of town may be very dark, however it was in no way desolate or scary. They cultivated a special type of moss that emitted a soft glow and spread it around their part of town. The glow it gave off was enough for most people to see, yet it didnt aggrivate the senses of those sensitive to light. They also kept the city very clean and performed most of the maintenence as they never tired or really cared about time of day now that they didnt have to avoid the sun.
Her people, the lamias, mostly lived near the entrance to the city and in the council district as they normally took the manager jobs in the surrounding areas. Most of the lamia however were devoted to science and a large chunk of the area the Lamias lived in was covered in labratories and small factories with other facilities scattered around. This area began just to the right of the entrance and was seperated from the rest of the city by a large wall and strong looking gate. More than once they have had to repair portions of the city due to an experiment gone wrong, so they learned from this and built a wall to keep the rest of the city safe.

There was a small section of the city devoted to refugees of other countries that stumbled upon this city and decided to stay. This part of the city was directly behind the lamia's section and was filled with Dwarves, Arachnids, centars and many other beings that she couldnt seem to remember the names of. There was even a small group of humans, that were apparently 'Sacrificed' to the forest when they were children. Their time living among so many other races has changed them in many ways, through intermarrying and such so now, most of them are not completely human anymore.
Still there are some here who bear ill will towards any living humans, so they have to be careful when they leave their part of the city. The refugee section was guarded, to keep them safe from those that would mean them harm. But also to protect the people from the refugees, should the need arise.
There was even a part of the city where nothing but those that were worshipped in one way or another live. Lamis told me that most of them are forgotten gods or religious figures that lost their power for some reason and ended up here. She raised her arm and pointed at a part of the city that was almost entirely made out of stone, with decorations carved into most of the exposed stone. The walls were covered in what looked like heroes fighting with viscious monsters and stopping terrible calamities while the gods stood over them watching. Looking at that part of the city gave me a viscious headache until I looked away. I decided to stay away from that part of the city. I could feel something bad will happen if I go there.
Lamis kept leading me around by the hand, nearby people either smiled when they saw her, scowled at me or talked to her while completely ignoring me. She never stopped talking about the city unless someone else said something to her. Lamis would respond to them and then return to giving me the 'grand tour'. She led me through the city for a couple hours before she started to head home. She wanted me to meet her sister so I tagged along, she didnt really ask me, she just said she was going to her house now and wouldnt let go of my hand.

Lamis took me into the lamias district, past the guards that were posted on the inside of the gate and into the part of the area they lived in. The floor of the entire fenced in area was smooth and flat with some patches of dirt that had some weird subterrean plants growing randomly. The lamias area was split in half the houses were on the right of the gate while the labratories were on the left. The houses werent what I expected, They were tall flat buildings made out of some sort of black reflective material. There were many balconies and some of them even had weird machines on them, hissing or thumping with an odd rhythm. The tall buildings were all clumped together leaving very little space in between. Some of the buildings went through the cave ceiling. The others just had supports sticking out of them and going deep into the cave walls.
She led me into the tallest of the buildings, this one bearing the letter "L". We passed all sorts of lamias doing all sorts of things. Some were tending to some plants and others appeared to be doing maintenence on some of the many machines that were everywhere. Even as we entered the lobby the number of machines around grew. I had no idea what most of them were for, or why they were here. Lamis pulled me into a box at the other end of the lobby and pushed a button on the wall. The doors closed and we started moving up, the see-through back of the box gave a clear view of the outside and made it clear that we were moving. This was amazing, this technology was unheard of anywhere else in Shaylet. Ive never even heard of any other countries having anything like this. I wonder what kind of stone they used for this. I was feeling around the room, trying to figure out something about this moving box when we stopped and I heard a bell. Lamis proceeded to drag me away from the box and down the hall.
I was lost in thought as she led me through the halls. Trying to comprehend everything that has happened today as we passed through two large doors. Only after we passed through did I realize we were at the top of the building. The room we were currently in was empty except a staircase on either side of the wall, one wall was entirely transparent and showed the rocky ceiling outside above the rest of the city. At the top of the staircase was a fully grown Lamia holding a glass of a viscous red liquid and looked very very angry.

The Dungeon Calls for a Sage
Archimedes was the ego behind one of the most powerful dungeons ever created. He grew and developed his halls, filling them with powerful monsters and beasts, over the course of thousands of years. He was a grand structure of ten thousand floors which even heroes had failed to defeat. However, an Evil God had come from another world, calling himself the Demon King, and a party of heroes were sent to do battle with it. Through their victory, they obtained enough strength to breeze through Archimedes' dungeon like it was nothing. Forseeing the end of his life, and realizing how pointless his pursuit of power had been, Archimedes destroyed himself, taking the heroes down with him. Still, Archimedes felt despair that he had lived a worthless life as something as pitiful and futile as a dungeon. Sensing his regret and potential, the voice of the world presented Archimedes with the chance to start anew and live a more meaningful life. Thrilled and hopeful for the first time in eons, Archimedes accepted the offer, only to be reborn again as a dungeon core with not a single room or monster to his name. Just what was the meaning of this?! Archimedes couldn't figure out what the voice of the world was thinking. Somehow, he would have to draw a sage into his dungeon to figure it out for him. _______________________ DCS is now a member of the WriTEr's Pledge, which means I have sworn to see it through to a satisfying end.

Mary Susan Oceanrunner and the Brutus Saint's Academy
Join Mary Susan Oceanrunner on her quest to do... erm... something really important for the world... probably... Ahem. Long gone are the days when every hero could do whatever they wanted - now, we are civilised. We have government. Law. And proper forms. Lots of proper forms. (Final episode 25/07/2022. Also - beta readers far into the book rate the 'gore' degree as below 2/10, so the warning is a bit much) Mary Susan Oceanrunner is a poor girl from the orphanage, who like many others before, has to fulfil her destiny. The prophecy had been told, and she is the only one who can make things right. Erm... probably. Anyway, she can't just go and kill monsters like in the middle ages. First, she must apply for the appropriate permissions, fill the forms, learn about the proper loot taxations... Hey, no one said adventuring would be easy, right? Disclaimers: No claim made by any character by the book should be treated as the author's or anyone else's opinion on any subject. Most likely, it was just the funniest thing the Author could think of at the time of writing. This book contains many references to other works. It will probably be best enjoyed by individuals familiar with at least some of the following: 1) Computer games2) Fantasy in general3) Science fiction4) Tabletop RPGs5) Conspiracy theories6) Corporation work life7) Long forgotten prophecies uttered millennia ago in almost as forgotten languages under a starless night three dusks before the great convergence8) Filling any government-mandated form9) School10) EnglishMy ultimate goal is to make as many people experience something akin to joy while reading (think ~a bit louder exhale through the nose). It doesn't mean every scene will be funny or joyful because that's not how this stuff works. I can neither confirm nor deny having any other hidden agenda outside of that.
