《The most human elf in Shaylet - Paused until further notice》Becoming a god with no name

I sat up and mumbled a good morning to Malady, trying to act like I had just woke up. She jumped slightly and hid something behind her back, giving me a soft "Good morning". I wasnt able to see what it was she was hiding but to be honest I didnt really care that much. I just want to find the demons and hand her over so its their problem. The capital should be near there so I can drop off her too. Then I can deal with this whole 'Demi-God' mess.
I got off the bed and put on my boots while Malady still hid whatever it was behind her back and said nothing. She seemed to be avoiding my gaze. I would be lying if I said I wasnt curious, but my head was too full of thoughts about the situation to say anything. I poked my head out of a window to see where we are.
We were now on a gravel road that winded around soft hills. Covered in shrubbery and medium length grass, small animals could also be seen grazing. I was looking at a particularly large animal that was nibbling something around a small bush. It was plump with a flat head and tail. Its body was large and covered in thick but short brownish-gray fur and its legs were a bit like stubs with claws.
I was wondering what the name of that thing was when an arrow shot from the front of the carriage and hit it between the eyes. The carriage slowed down and stopped immediatley after and Vylet hopped out of the drivers compartment and ran to the dead animal. Picking it up and running straight back.
She opened the door and put the carcass inside.
"Perfect! Your awake, you can prepare dinner today."
She smiled at me and then asked Malady if she wanted to drive.
"Sure, I have nothing else to do at the moment."
She got up and left, whatever she was hiding seemed to have dissappeared as it was no longer behind her. I sighed and just started preparing the animal. I assumed she wanted to find somewhere to camp tonight, because the sun was going down. She proved me right when she pulled off the road to a small area that was obviously used for camping. The remains of campfires were everywhere, I could even see the bones of some small animals scattered around. I was letting the body bleed while I helped set up camp, I was getting a little tired of dried meat and plants they had found. I wanted to make some stew, or at least a thick soup.

After we set up camp I left the animal to bleed some more and looked for wild vegetables and things I can add to the soup. I found a couple rabbits which I caught, they arent that big so theyre easy to prepare and I love meat. I could never understand that weird vegetarian thing most elves do. I think they just do it to appear close to nature, kind of makes me want to eat a perfectly seasoned steak in front of one. He he he.
I also came across some wild onions and other edible plants that I gathered and brought them back to camp. I passed a river on the way back to the camp spot so I stopped to wash off the plants I found. I made sure I remember the way back to the river as I walked back to camp. When I arrived I noticed that they had already gathered wood for a fire and had a kettle out. Malady had some leaves in her hand that she was ripping into smaller pieces and putting into a cloth.
It smelled sweet, and tangy. I wonder what kind of leaves those are.
"They are tea leaves I found in a drawer in the carriage. They smelled nice so I thought I would prepare some tea."
What the hell? Is she a mind reader?
"No, I simply guessed what you were going to say."
"Oh, ok that makes sense."
I was preoccupied with my collection of meat and wild plants to ask any more questions. I went back to preparing the food. I found a large pot in the carriage and a stand, I also pulled out a couple buckets. I took them to the river to get water. After I got back I set up the cooking stand and put the pot on it, filling it with some water. I put one of the buckets next to Vylet who had one of her knives out and was preparing some of the plants and stuff I had brought back.

She had also skinned all the animals that we had gotten including the one she shot earlier. All I had to do was cook.
Her father was a smart man to teach her all these skills. If she escaped on her own she probably wouldnt even need me to help her get home. Malady however is starting to make me worried. She has started acting different, not only is she growing fast. But she is starting to act older too, like her mind is aging with her body.
She noticed me looking at her and winked at me. Giving me a smile that made me shiver a bit. I looked away and went back to cooking. I started cutting some of the vegetable I had found while I was out and adding them to the pot. I Washed the meat off with some of the water in the bucket before seasoning it with stuff I found in the storage. At some point Malady had come over and put the kettle on the cooking stand. She also pulled out a pan and took some of the meat I had already seasoned and started frying it.
I guess we are cooking together then.
I took out some dried noodles from the storage and added them to the pot with the vegetables. I was just going to put the meat in there with the vegetables but Malady started frying them so Ill improvise.

Vold felt happier than he has ever felt. He spent some of his time in the dungeon below his former master's house watching him with his new roommate. All to the tune of his wife crying and pleading in the cell next to theirs, not for Ternnen's life. But for her own. She even offered her self to Vold if he let her go.
He almost laughed at the thought. He used to imagine himself with her when he was new to their service. Before he found out what they did to his parents he liked being there. Now she was offering up what he used to dream about. But now all it did was disgust him, he almost considered throwing her into the cell with her husband and that thing. Just to see what would happen. Right now Vold was in his new office, organizing his control over this city before he moved onto recruitment and then invasion. He wanted more than just one city, he wanted them all and with how the nobles and even the royalty treat peasents in this kingdom. He had all the soldiers he could possibly want, he was more of a quantity over quality guy and there were plenty of peasents that wanted to get back at the nobles or the kingdom. With each city he captured he thought he could at least convert 60-70 percent of the peasents there to soldiers, as long as he promised that they could keep what they loot. They could even keep some nobles as slaves if they wanted to. Vold didnt care, he would take the kingdom in the end.

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.
