Kevin didnt really react much to that news, at least on the outside. He raised a hand to his chin and started pacing the room muttering something about 'tropes' and 'bad endings'

What is a trope?

How does a creature inside a speck in my chest know more words and concepts than I do?

"Also you never really explained what this place is or what you are. Also you dont have to be so formal with me you can just call me Finch if you want."

He looked up at me and gave me what I assumed was a smile. Its hard to tell when his face is mostly see-through.

"Thanks man, the last guy I had to help was really uptight and kept threatening to kill me. He was a real asshat"

I was amazed at how much he changed, he even seemed more relaxed now. Im just going to ignore the words he says that I dont understand. I may not know what it means really but I can tell that 'asshat' is not a compliment.

"You were in someone else's 'inner world'?"

"yeah, thats what I think my job is. I just woke up in someones inner world and I had a bunch of knowledge about it and their situation. After I helped them and they evolved to the next level I woke up in someone elses inner world."

"Sounds awfull."

"Its not that bad, sometimes I meet cool people and learn some new things."

"Ok, so back to what this place is and what it is for?"

I really wanted an explination on this whole thing.

"Oh yeah, This place is called your inner world. It appears after you take one of the first steps towards becoming a god. The first step is different for most people. Sometimes its killing a moster that is many times more powerful than you. It can also be getting a small group to worship you or fear you. It can be any matter of things that show your power and intent to get stronger. Once that is done this place shows up in the chest and grows according to your strength. This place can interact with the outside world in many ways and it is technically a byproduct of divinity. So it doesnt really have a purpose it kind of just... is. Most that I have met used it for meditation, others used it to capture creatures for research. There was even one man who simply used it to garden and grow rare plants and stuff. In order to make it to the next level and gather more divinity you need to train yourself. Once you get an inner world it starts generating divinity. Anything you do in here adds to how much is generated. You can even store stuff here if you want to."

"Is divinity the only way to grow this place? because I was adding some pure mana into it to experiment and it went from being a speck to a pebble."

"Dont do that anymore, it may look bigger but its just swollen. As it...uh, 'Digests' the mana it will shrink back to its normal size. Im glad you didnt add too much, otherwise this place could have exploded."

"Exploded?"

"Yes, as I said this place can influence the real world. So if it explodes, it would probably make a nice sized hole in your chest."

"I am curious, can you alter this space as well?"

His eyes widened quite a bit before they returned to normal and he gave me another smile.

"I can, but only if given permission to. Most people would never even consider that because this place directly effects your strength."

"I know but you seem ok and you have lots of experience with this kind of place so I feel like I can trust you to make it better."

His smile grew.

"Thanks man, dont you worry. Ill have this place up and running in no time. But I will have to completely recreate it, that okay with you?"

"sure, I only made this place cause I was bored. I wasnt really expecting it to have a function."

"Sweet, When you come back tommorow I will have plenty for you to see dude."

"Alright, ill be back tommorow then. Wake up!"

I opened my eyes to see...nothing. It was just complete darkness. I felt something soft on my face so I pulled it off. The sun was just rising over the horizon. I must have slept through my turn to drive.

oops

I looked around the carriage and saw Malady changing into a different dress. I couldnt help but notice that she had grown again. Im not a pervert, so I closed my eyes and rolled over to give her some privacy.

I guess now I know why that cloth was on my face. But she couldve just waited till I was driving to change.

My mind started to cloud with thoughts of what I had just learned and I was deep in thought.

I am a demi-god. What god chose me? Why. I dont understand and all this crap is happening to me one after the other. I have to save Malady from something I dont know anything about. Im apparently a demi-god and can become a god at some point and I still have to get Vylet home.

Also I feel like im forgetting something...

Several blurs ripped through the forest. Never stopping for anything other than to check that they were going in the right direction. They were following a carraige that had passed through not too long ago. They had reached a spot where the carraige stopped for a bit and they could see footprints heading off into the trees. Now they could be seen properly. There were four of them, all wearing dark clothing and masks to obscure their faces. Each of them also had scaley tails barely hidden by their coats. Following this trail first led to a clearing at the top of a cliff overlooking a village of little pig creatures. The clearing was almost burnt to a crisp, amazingly the fire didnt spread past the clearing. Two of them branched off and went to investigate the village while the other two stayed and investigated the burnt clearing. The were told to follow and watch their actions while gathering as much information on their identities as possible. They wandered around the clearing, pausing at the top of the cliff where there was a pile of stones stacked straight up. Behind a nearby tree the biggest one of the four had found a small skeleton charred and nibbled on by small rodents. It was in a weird position, almost like it had been incinerated while it was sleeping.

Leaving the bones where they found them, they regrouped with the others in their group. After a short report they moved on, back to following the carriage. Once again they were blurs passing through the forest.
