《Clement》Chapter 7

One who cheated death: A
And yet the has shown you its mercy but be warned nothing is free, actions have consequences and death can be delayed but never denied.
You shall forevermore be marked by death. Regardless of how you earned it, holders of this title will never be phased by death.
User is immune to Fear and Terror effects.
User is immune to mental control.
Upon a fatal hit, user will survive with 1 health and remove all negative status effects on user. Can activate once every 24 hrs.
Efficiency bonus of stats have doubled. Each stat point will increase efficiency by 20% instead of 10%. This only applies to base values and not to additional points granted by buffs, equipment, blessings, etc.
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
FUCK YES!! Finally, something good. Immunity to fear and terror, no more standing still for shit to make a meal out of me and that lifesaving passive. Holy shit that’s going to be useful. That bonus to trinity efficiency is a goddamn cheat. It doesn’t make up for the lost attributes in the short term but in the long term this shit is going to more than make up for the stats I lost.
That flavor text at the end though…is that a bible quote? Is the system Catholic? Adam took another look at the text at the bottom of the notification and he thought hard about what he had read. I thought I was going to get a title description and yet it looks like a message addressed to me. Ok fuck that. It looks like a warning of sorts. Did the system do something it wasn’t supposed to?.... No answer huh. Adam didn’t know what the hallowed halls were but he was sure it was somewhere people ended up when they died and the system managed to pluck his soul from the halls and reconstruct his body albeit weaker than before.
The sheer impossibility of what the system had done was terrifying to Adam. He had died and then brought back to life. Id be making jokes about respawns but fuck man that is downright terrifying. The power to control life and death. And the system has it. Unknowingly Adam shivered at the thought.
But it seems that the system isn’t alone in having miraculous powers. From what I can infer from the text, it seems like another entity had taken over parts of the title description to give that warning. Death maybe? Is Death alive? Fuck man! That’s a stupid oxymoron. Maybe death is an entity like the system? Why am I even thinking about this shit? What am I even going to do even if I had the answers to those questions? This shit is so far beyond me that I’m like microscopic space dust compared to the vast universe. Adam forcibly stopped himself from pursuing those thoughts any further. He couldn’t do anything about the system or death hijacking the system notifications to give cryptic warnings. If those entities wanted to they could snuff his life out like it was nothing and he wouldn’t even realize it. As depressing as that thought was, Adam needed to focus more on his present situation instead of thinking about all powerful entities and their agendas. He needed to remedy his situation.

I just wish I was resurrected in some clothes instead of my boxers… Maybe I’ll find something to wear outside, maybe a loot box with equipment and shit…and maybe people, friendly people who can help me…that would be crazy! A guy can wish right. No harm in wishing for shit.
Ever since Adam found himself on Terra, he had been jumping from one near death experience and into another until finally he had died but now he had another chance. He had a chance to change his fate, the gauntlet he had activated in his final moments had become his chance at getting strong enough to survive and kill creatures like the one which had killed him.
He decided he was going to make full use of the opportunity and get stronger. The gears in his brain started working again, thinking and planning for his next steps, he needed to complete the . He couldn’t stay in the safe zone forever. He needs to go outside and face whatever was there. So, he got up and started walking. Before his back was hunched but now, he was standing a bit taller as he walked towards the entrance of the cave.
Outside the cavern it was afternoon and the sun was shining bright in the sky. There lay a forest just ahead of his cave. The cave he came out from was situated at the foot of a small hill which was surrounded by the forest, at least as far as Adam could perceive. A few hundred meters inside the forest he could make out specks of blue, probably a lake or pond, which means animals or monsters. Ding! There was a notification from the system and he mentally clicked it.
The Wilderness before you is home to all manner of creatures of varying strength and your task is to claim the . Touch the banner and complete the gauntlet. Be warned the Banner has powerful guardians. Fight or hide, Run or crawl, it matters not what means you use or how you claim the Banner. You can choose to give up at any point in time. Many have.
Do not lose sight of the forest for the trees, for dark things hide within depths unseen. Embrace the inner Wild, or fail and find yourself soon deceased.
There it is. My old friend terror…but it feels muted though, like I’m detached from the feeling. That’s going to be really useful. Is it because of all the crazy shit I’ve been through and its caused my mind to crack? Or is it an effect of the title? Does it matter? I’m not pissing my pants and that’s a win for me. Its going to help me from losing my resolve to do this thing regardless of the dangers. I just need to find that banner and claim it right?
Pretty sure It’s not going to be that simple but can’t be making plans when I don’t have facts. And that poem at the end sounded like a warning and advice at the same time, just like from my title, except its pretty direct. Embrace the inner wild huh. No idea what the fuck that is.
No use thinking about it for now. It’s afternoon which is the best time for me to scout out the forest and observe the wildlife without letting them observe me. Hopefully. But first need to prepare before I do this thing.

I’m not going to like this. Adam kneeled down and picked up dirt from the forest floor and carried it inside the cave. He repeated this a couple of times before he was satisfied with the dirt mound inside the cave and made an indent in the mound using his hands. He then proceeded to scoop handfuls of water into the indent he made. He kept doing this till the indent was filled and then he began to mix the water and dirt together to make mud. He mixed it till it was runny and he slathered it all over his body.
This was something taught to him during survival training while he was still in the service. The mud mutes the scent and provides some camouflage as well preventing insect bites. It was the simplest and easiest way to prevent dogs from tracking while out in a hostile environment. Hopefully it should make it more difficult for the creatures to find his scent and locate him.
He was almost ready for his journey, all he needed was a weapon of sorts or something that could be used as one. He looked around outside the cave and found a small sapling about as tall as he was with few small branches. So, He put his back to it and proceeded to try and pull it out from the ground. After what seemed like hours but really, it was closer to minutes he managed to pry it from the ground. He twisted and broke it off at the base and then proceeded to twist off the branches.
He was done with his staff, until he had tools or sharp enough rocks to carve off the excess, his makeshift staff would have to suffice. He was finally ready and the sun was still high in the sky. There was plenty of daylight left for him to recce and come back to his cave. Without thinking about anything else he started to walk into the forest. If I had started to rethink this then I might have kept on thinking till it got dark. Like Marines always say ‘No way out but through’. Just one last thing to do before I head out. Need to confirm Analyze[C] is what I think it is.
Analyze[C]: One of the many skills used to examine and gather information. Analyze is a Common grade ocular skill which functions based on line of sight and in addition to enabling user to inspect objects, fauna, flora, skills and abilities, analyze allows user to gain more details which similar skills of the same grade cannot do. Information provided skill is limited by user’s authority, level difference and other factors. The only inherent limitation of the skill is that user must be able to see the subject. No mana is used to activate this skill and skill cannot level or gain proficiency.
Neat! Just like I thought. The most common skill in any rpg. Let’s test this shit out. He looked at relatively large looking tree that looked like a pine tree. That would do. Analyze.
Graemwald Pine tree: A pine tree only found in the Graemwald forest in the northern hemisphere of Terra. The tree has gone extinct on Terra in modern times due to expansion of civilization in the northern hemisphere. It is sturdy and resistant to all forms of weather and can grow as tall as 120 meters and has high compression stress which makes it ideal for construction and buildings in the northern hemisphere. Decades of demand for Graemwald pine wood had resulted in the complete destruction of the Graemwald forest and the extinction of Graemwald pine trees.
Extinct huh…Adam used Analyze again but this time on a different tree.
Graemwald Fir tree: A Fir tree only found in the Graemwald forest in the northern hemisphere of Terra. The tree has gone extinct on Terra in modern times due to expansion of civilization in the northern hemisphere. The wood is soft enough to mold and carve but tough enough to be used in construction of houses. resistant to all forms of weather but extremely resistant to cold, storms and earthquakes and can grow as tall as 80 meters. Decades of demand for Graemwald Fir had resulted in the complete destruction of the Graemwald forest and the extinction of Graemwald Fir trees.
Once more but we’ll try the cave this time. Adam walked back inside the cave before he used Analyze on the cave wall.
Cave wall: This cave wall has veins of Wolramite, Sphalerite, Scheelite and Granite. The presence of Wolramite and Sphalerite give the cave walls its dark coloring. Wolramite is one of the hardest naturally occurring ores on Terra. Wolramite ore is made up of Black iron, Grey copper and a small amount Night metal. Sphalerite is made up of black iron and Zincine. Scheelite is made up of Calcite and small amounts of night metal. Granite mostly made up of silica-based compounds and trace amounts of weak metals. Wolramite, Sphalerite and Scheelite are uncommon ores and there are few regions where all 3 can be found together. The hills surrounding Graemwald Forest is one such location.
So this proves my hunch right or at least I'm 90% sure that I’m in Graemwald forest. Or atleast a copy of it, that or I’ve gone back in time to before the forest was destroyed but I’m pretty sure I’m in a pocket dimension of sorts. After all this is supposed to be my and it did say that it would be catered to my situation so since the system can bring a dead man back to life, I’m just gunna assume it can create pocket dimensions with shit from the past. System shit. Yup.

Far Strider
A college student finds himself transported into a strange land with burgeoning magical powers, and is taken in by Ned Stark. Will he sink or swim in this medieval society, and will he ever get home? ====================== OC-insert without knowledge of Game of Thrones, new planeswalker. Slow power ramp. Second crossover: Star Wars (around chapter 39). ======================= As a note, I started this as a speed writing challenge to myself. The challenge was successful, and I managed 100,000+ words (as well as some character sheets in excel and such) over 10.5 days. Then I had to stop and let my hands recover from their burgeoning carpal tunnel syndrome. The story currently stands at around 150,000 words (or ~550 RRL pages) over 54 chapters; expect a chapter a day until I've caught up with the backlog. The focus of this story was not quality writing, and that hasn't changed. I mostly use it as my semi-guilty "I need to write something, but am not focused enough to write something good" story. Expect self-indulgent writing in general, and a bit of OP (or, well, more than just a bit if we're being honest), especially later in the story as the protagonist matures into a more full-blown Planeswalker. But if you're looking for something with a power-ramping protagonist romping around the place, something you'd be a bit embarrassed to admit liking (I know I am) but like anyways (and come on, this is RRL, so that probably describes just about everyone here who actually has shame), then this may be a nice bit of mental junk food for you.

8 100Contact First
2039 - Earth A narrow beam energy signal appeared aimed squarely at earth from the TRAPPIST system. The communication consisted of a layered set of repeating data over several thousand wavelengths. Over the next few months scientists discovered that the lower wavelengths carried an encoded numerical language which could then be used to interpret the more complicated messages carried on the higher wavelengths. After half a year of painstaking work the signal was fully decoded. It described a small satellite launched along a precise trajectory towards the fourth planet of our solar system. Included was a package of advanced research that humanity would need to have ready in order to receive the satellite and decelerate it safely. The alien data provided the kick that humanity needed to turn from petty squabbling and unite to explore the final frontier. Major government and corporate leaders worked together to create the framework for the United Federation of Sol. UFS spaceports went from scaffolding to daily launches in every major city around the globe. Ships floated like dandelion seeds, spreading on solar wind to grow into colonies. 2397 - Mars orbit, Egeria Station The command center was a hive of activity as checks were conducted and systems initialized. Scientists flitted by like mayflies as communicators beeped and holoscreens spat out green tinted readouts. Nervous energy was thick in the air as everyone anticipated the culmination of over three hundred years of work. Massive fusion reactors under the planet's surface thrummed with barely restrained power as energy fed into a gleaming metallic maze criss crossing the planet. Metal fingers reached up, overshadowing the mighty olympus mons and trying to grab the stars. All over the solar system, people quickly turned to look as gigantic energy lances shot from the dusty fourth planet. Two years later. The same people that clapped loudly at the successful activation of project Hermes now wait with baited breath. A silver capsule trailing bright photonic sails is captured by a net of grav beams and guided with care bordering on reverence into the station. Holoscreens across the headquarters project an image of the sleek craft settling in the bay. Data connections are established and the holoscreens blink to white. Slowly an image forms on the screen. Across the headquarters people stare in wonder as a wholly alien face stares back. "Contact established. Welcome to the universe."
