《Lost in a Magical World》Chapter 2.4: Explanations

After they came back from their spacewalk he promptly removed their harnesses and lead them to the bridge of the ship where he had them sit, he stood in front of them and said.
"Ok, now that you know that we are not in the solar system, I believe you are more inclined to accept that you came here through a wormhole" he said then paused "Well, two wormholes actually, one that took you to where I was and one that brought us all here"
After what they had witnessed Angela couldn't find a way to argue with him, and it seemed that neither did Alicia because she said "Yes, somehow we passed through a wormhole. Which, I must say is still blowing my mind, we develop the station to test theory that could one day unify quantum theory and special relativity" and then asked "The Idea of wormholes are theoretical, and now you are telling me that you somehow cracked it?"
He looked a little proud of himself when he answered "Yes, I did..."
Before he could continue Alicia interrupted him and fired off questions in quick succession without pause "How did you achieve that? is it that structure? it was massive, how could you build something that big in space without anyone knowing about it? Did you somehow used a smaller wormhole to send you to another part of the galaxy and then build the big structure there? Who funded it? When was it build?"
Angela seeing where this was going, decided to step in. Her friend was usually very composed but sometimes if the topic was something that she was passionate (or obsessive) about she could become pushy, in an adorable kind of way but pushy none the less, It was good when convincing the world's governments and private companies to invest even more money in the station but it might not be a good idea at the moment.
So Angela tried to calm her friend down "Alicia, we could give him time to respond to a few before asking the next."
Alex composed himself, like he was trying to find the best words for the next part.
"I am not from earth, I was born on another planet, just like my whole family, the last time one of my direct ancestor was on earth was centuries ago" he said

Everyone stopped at this. They were frozen looking at him for some time, trying to wrap their heads around what he just said, Paul was the one who spoke first
"I am sorry, but, are you trying to tell us you are an alien?" he asked speaking slowly trying to make sure he was understood.
"Yes, you could say that. I am human, and my ancestors are originally from earth, but they left earth a long time ago, like a few thousand years ago" Alex answered
"I am sorry, but how is that possible? thousands of years ago, people were riding horses not going into space" Angela asked, if she was going to believe any of this she would need a lot more to go on than the fact that they are in another star system
"Not everyone, one thing my people know is that you on earth have heard of us, even if everything you heard about us is wrong. My people are Lantean, we are from Lantis" he answered
"Atlantis is a fictional island invented by Plato, you are not saying he was right are you?" she asked again, this was crazy, either he was pranking them or they would need to revisit a lot of things they thought they knew
"No, from what we gathered, everything he said about us is wrong, except for the similar name, it's like he heard the name somewhere and used it in his story" Alex answered "But the lantean people did exist, and were more scientifically advanced than the rest of the world, we just kept to ourselves a lot, the rest of the world invented stories about us, like the ancient gods of many of your cultures"
"Like Zeus, Odin and all others, are you trying to say to us that they were real too?, is this some kind of a joke, a really bad prank you are pulling on us?" asked Angela raising her voice, looking angry at his suggestion
"Yes, like Zeus. Again most of the characters on your mythology are made up, but some names are close. Seus is the family name of Lantean royalty, and for some time used as a title, Hyphastus is a school, not a person, Cronos, Atlas and most of the titans are made up, Horus means falcon in Lanti, your people are the ones who created gods and other ideas around it" Alex explained.

"So, your people lived on an island that sank, and somehow found a way out of earth?" she continued her enquiry, the others were allowing her to ask the questions it seemed.
"No, as I said, most of what is thought about Atlantis is wrong, maybe he mentioned some other island that sank, but it wasn't us, not even the timeline is right, and we were never in war with Athens, it is ridiculous" he answered,
"Why would be in war with Athens be ridiculous?" she asked, not understanding, from what little she remembered from history there were a lot of wars being fought between nations in the past
"My people were more advanced than any other nation in the world, it made us close ourselves off too much, but we had the knowledge to wipeout Athens if needed. Some nations thought they were at war with us but we could just ignore them, we crossed the globe, we didn't need to fight any of them, after all, they couldn't even reach us even when we were on earth" he answered
So from what she could understand they didn't fight because it would be like space faring race going against people who threw rocks. They could simply go far enough not to get hit or obliterate the natives with superweapons. But she needed to know more before she could believe whatever he was saying "If what you are saying is true, why did your people leave earth?"
"Well, my people are very keen on doing minimal damage to the environment in the pursuit of science. After some rather catastrophic mistakes in the pursuit of science, we realized that we had to leave the planet, since we were already in the last stages of terraforming a planet in order to build a colony there, our council thought it would be better if we all just moved"
"Wouldn't that just move the problem elsewhere?" Paul asked
"Yes, but earth would still be our fallback, and going far would allow us to deal with our problems without compromising earth. But as soon as we got there we built our industry to the point where we were able to start the terraforming process on another 2 worlds and we get most of our resources from space rather than the planets we are inhabiting"
Angela realized that he was skirting around whatever the problem that led them to leave earth was.
"How many worlds are terraformed, right now?" Angela asked
To which he answered "we have successfully terraformed 7 worlds but are inhabiting only 5"
"Only 7, I thought that you guys would have spread out throughout the galaxy"
"Well, finding planets in the habitable zone of sol like stars with the right parameters is not easy, we are already lucky that we found 7 so close together"
"Why didn't you terraform mars? human kind could live there if terraformed" she asked, after all Mars was closer that wherever they went.
"Too small, too cold not enough water, no magnetic shielding, not enough atmosphere, among other things, and we had a much better alternative by the time we developed our terraforming technology to acceptable levels. We want the environment in the worlds we terraform to last without any need for a continuous upkeep, the closer to earth parameters the better. I have personal recordings if you guys want to see, I'll show you later" he said. Ok, he was somewhat right, the small mars colony of scientists still lived inside a dome, and people were still afraid of long term effects on babies born on mars or how people on mars would evolve differently from earth.
"Why not show us now?" Angela asked
"Well, we still need to discuss our current situation" he said. Everyone became quiet, the way he said it allowed them to know something was wrong. "To put it bluntly, we are lost." he said "And by that I mean, we are very far from civilization and I have no Idea how to get back"
