Chapter 030 - A Problem

In a room filled with monitors.

[Willy]: “The Anomaly was detected again last night; it has disappeared after 10 minutes of activity”

[Midas]: “And now he has found the [Hidden Area] it must be related; what about the origin of the anomaly”

[Willy]: “It also has disappeared from the sensors”

[Midas]: “Then it is gone”

[Willy]: “I think that’s the case”

[Midas]: “You think?”

A robot with a brain and its own thoughts, this was part of the effect of the anomaly, this should have not been possible even for Midas, so she has to keep Willy under careful watch, that’s why she has locked him inside this room, even so, Willy can still be of use for her.

Willy corrected himself.

[Willy]: “The analysis indicates that all records of the anomaly had also started to disappear from the database; the Tower barrier has slowed down the process; it will be completely erased from [Midas] database after 7 days; the anomaly will be made no existent after that; memory will be also be affected by the event”.

Willy was behaving completely different than before, in Midas own analysis, he was evolving, but Midas didn’t know what he was evolving into, she needs to recollect more data, even so, Midas didn’t lag behind in that regard from Willy, as the usual way she expressed herself was also been changing.

However, the anomaly they had been searching for a while now that has caused this event was disappearing without a trace, and even with Tower insolation their memories of the event will also disappear, and maybe after that, they would back to their normal selves.

Midas could only give up in their search, because, soon they would not even remember what they were searching for, for now, it was better to find a way to preserve her evolution right now.

[Midas]: “Give up the search, but keep the Player under watch, there is no point in wasting more resources in this matter, lower the vigilance to a minimum”

[Willy]: “Understood”

After that, Midas left the room, probably for the last time; however, now that the vigilance has been lowered to a minimum, it was the same as any other player inside the Tower, this meant, Willy was allowed of having a great degree of freedom for his actions.

After 4 hours has passed, everyone exited the [Hidden Area] and returned to their own business. Cyan was still stuck with his status in 49’s and he was ordered to rest for the day, while Alice was also given the day off from training as the twins and Boss had said they wanted to face against [Round 5] in Floor 8 once more after getting their INT stat increase.

Alice then had discovered a hidden feature that allowed her to play video games in her room, which have a great assortment of games in the library. She invited Cyan over so they could spend the rest of the day playing, instead of not doing anything at all. In the end, they had played a racing game, a fighting game and a party game, however, the one they liked the most, was a beat them up game, where they could play together against the computer.

After playing for hours, they ended the day with a goodbye kiss and Cyan returned to his own room to sleep, and like that, Cyan short day vacation was finally over.

Cyan woke up the next morning, he ignored the messages he got during the night, and instead he checked out his [Status], to see if his stats have increased after a day of rest.

Cyan face glowed, as he happily confirmed that his [Status] has finally been increased from 49 to 50, and even his Tier has changed from, 0 to 0+, meaning, he has overcome a small wall in the tier.

Even though the difference in Cyan status is just one small point, he still felt that all of his body has become lighter and more agile than before. It was a very similar sensation to the one he got after his first date with Alice.

Even more important than this, was Cyan INT stat, which has been increased from 21 to 36, a jump of 15 points in total in a single day, all thanks to the [Spa] and a day of rest.

Cyan could now clearly feel the difference in status, as his mind feels clearer and his memory has been improved by a wide margin. He could now remember things from 5 years in the past as if they were a yesterday occurrence; this was a new and strange experience for him.

In total, his [Status] has been increased by 19 points overall, but the change Cyan was feeling was greater the numbers were reflecting.

Cyan jumped out his bed and took a bath, before going to the [Food Area] to have some breakfast, after last night upgrade he was dying of hunger right now, this was a side effect of having his stats increase so much overnight.

Cyan was expecting to see everyone already sitting on the table and eating their breakfast, however, when he got there, only Karga was there waiting for him, everybody else was missing, including Alice.

After taking a seat next to Karga, Cyan could not help but ask where everyone else was.

[Cyan]: “Good morning Senior, do you know where is everybody else?”

Karga took notice that Cyan mood was good today, making things easier for him.

[Karga]: “Hey, newbie, you are early today, did you stats increased last night?”

Cyan thought he was not that early.

[Cyan]: “They did Senior”

Cyan took his phone and showed off his stats with a smile.

[Karga]: “Sigh, at this rate, I wouldn’t be able to call you newbie anymore, the rate your stats are increasing is so headache inducing”

[Cyan]: “Senior, please, don’t make such a joke, you all already had made an [Breakthrough] into the next Tier, and without your help, I wouldn’t be advancing so fast”

Karga could only shake its head in denial.

[Karga]: “Newbie, you are being too gentle with your Seniors”

Even so, Cyan took notice that Karga was avoiding the subject, and he has ignored his question from before, so he had to ask again.

[Cyan]: “Senior, where is everybody else?”

Karga stopped with his smile and instead put serious expressions.

[Karga]: “There was a problem, and Boss and Karla are busy trying to find a solution”

[Cyan]: “Then, shouldn’t we help them?”

Karga shook his head

[Karga]: “I don’t think we will be able to do anything to help them, so it is better if we just eat our breakfast first, I am sure they can do something on their own, anyway, you will be training with me for today”

Cyan nodded with his head, however, something felt out of place here.

[Cyan]: “Senior what about Alice and Cale?”

However, instead of answering, Karga made another question.

[Karga]: “Right, did you read today's announcement?”

Cyan remembered that after he had woken up this morning he had ignored his messages as he went directly to read his [Status].

[Cyan]: “I haven’t…”

Cyan took out his phone, but Karga immediately took it away from Cyan hands and offered his own phone instead.

[Karga]: “Here, read it from my phone, the announcement is already open”

Cyan nodded and took the phone from Karga hands and read throughout the announcement.

Message [Midas]: “Announcement: Tutor Protocol has officially ended, thanks to all Player for participating in it, check in your App inbox to claim your rewards”

Cyan remembered that today was the day that [Midas] would be giving out the rewards to Players for the Quest of [Become a Player Tutor].

[Karga]: “Weren’t you Alice tutor for the Quest?”

[Cyan]: “I was, but I didn’t do much, most of the time I had been trained by you or Boss, Senior, about Alice…”

Even so, Karga kept ignoring Cyan.

[Karga]: “Yeah, but we still should see if you got something good out of it, [Midas] Quest rewards are very good you know, let’s see what you got this time”

Cyan frowned as Karga forced him to claim his rewards for the Quest after fiddling out with his phone before returning it back.

Cyan opened his [Inbox] and saw there was a new unread message in his [Inbox]; after he has clicked to open it Karga let out a sigh of relief as if he has accomplished something here.

Karga eyes almost jumped out of his sockets as he read throughout the list of rewards Cyan got.

[Karga]: “Woah [Midas] must really like you or something”

Cyan felt iffy about the word “like” and [Midas] used in the same oration, however, Cyan was already made aware that Willy has been helping him out a lot with this kind of things.

[Cyan]: “Senior, you know what other people got as a reward? For example, Cale?”

Karga could only shrug his shoulders.

[Karga]: “Well, Alice should have got the same reward as you, because they should come as a pair, as for what other people got I am not aware”

Cyan though of something out.

[Cyan]: “Did Seniors get anything at all?”

Karga shook his head; in fact, they have not participated in the Quest at all.

[Karga]: “Boss, Karla, and I didn’t get anything out of the Quest because we didn’t participate in it, even though we were busy training two cheeky Players”

Karga turned his head around to look a Cyan with a smile.

Cyan could only feel remorseful about this fact, because, obviously, when Karga has said cheeky Players, he meant him and Alice.

[Cyan]: “I am sorry Senior, please, let me make it out for you, I can give you half the Credits I got as a reward, as a thank you”

Karga could only smile, after all, he was poorer than Cyan right now.

[Karga]: “Really? No, take backs?”

Cyan nodded.

[Cyan]: “Of course, Senior”

[Karga]: “Then I will gladly take it… hehe it is like taking candy from a kid”

[Cyan]: “What did you just said, Senior?”

[Karga]: “Cough, it was nothing, why don’t you try to open the [Random Weapon Box] now; with your luck, I am sure it will give you something amazing”

Cyan nodded with his head.

[Cyan]: “Alright”

After Cyan had transferred the Credits to Karga, he then moved to open the box.

[Cyan]: “There are a lot of weapons, but I can only choose one weapon out from this list”

[Karga]: “That seems to be the case, then, what will you choose?”

Cyan was inclined to take out the [Spear]; however, he already knew what he would be using in the end, so he chose to take out the [Sword] out the box. He was having a very good feeling about his choice of Weapon, as the box started to emit a deep golden light, however, what it has come out of the box was not what he was expecting, he was expecting a Black Sword from his dreams, but instead, what he got was a shiny Sword, named the [Gold Sword].

Cyan quickly pressed the name of the sword in his equipment tab, using the app on his phone.

Tier: 0 Attack: 0 Effect: None Durability: 1/1 Description: “A very plain looking Sword”

The sword was very plain looking indeed, as the description said it was, even when it was shining with a deep golden color it did not have any decorations on it, making it look very plain, nor it was shaped like a sword but more like a stick.

After Cyan had read throughout the item description, he could only feel his soul leaving out of his body, because how crappy this item really was on the inside, it was even worse than how it looked on the outside.

First, the attack for this golden “sword” was zero, meaning, that if you hit something with it, it will not do any damage whatsoever.

Second, there was not any special effect of the Sword under the [Effect] tab, so there was nothing special this sword could do, even if you used it, and because it was so plain looking, it does not even work as a piece of decoration.

Lastly, the sword durability was only 1 point, which meant, that if you hit something with it very hard, it would probably break in half.

For comprising, even the knife the twins were carrying around has an attack and durability of 5 points each.

When Cyan took out the sword out of his sheath, the blade was all blunt looking and did not have an edge to it at all; this sword could not even cut foam in two. It was more like a Gold Road than a Gold Sword, it should have been called [Golden Road] instead, Cyan could only complain inside of his head.

Even so, when Cyan took out his phone make to complain with Willy, he got a new message from [Midas].

Message [Midas]: “do you wish to bind the [Golden Sword], Procced [Yes] or [No]”

Cyan eyes lit up as he obviously replied [Yes], then another message arrived at his phone.

Message [Midas]: “Please visualize your desired weapon during the binding process, an imperfect visualization will produce the binding process to fail and the item to break”

The plain looking sword started to irradiate a golden light, as it started to transform, Cyan knew right at that moment exactly how he wanted his sword to look, as he remembered the shape, the color, the size, the edged, and even the weight.

Just as he has witnessed it, inside a dream he once had, a sword that was able to cut anything and everything in half, the Sword started to take shape under his hand, as the sword that was initially gold colored and straight, started to morph.

Its color started changing from golden to black, while the shaped started to bend, the handle that was foreign to Cyan hand, started to fit his hand like a glove, and the blunt-edged started to thin out and develop menacing edged.

As the luster black color had set in on the blade, Cyan dreamed sword was revealed to him once more, however, unlike the previous time, this time, he was not inside a dream anymore.

Cyan checked the sword information once more.

Tier: 0+ Attack: 50 Effects: [Growing] Durability: 50/50 Description: “A growing sword which has been bonded to Cyan”.

Cyan immediately clicked on the effect description.

[Growing]: “An item that grows together with the Player Tier that has bonded to”

The sword that was Tier 0 has immediately jumped to Tier 0+ because Cyan was also in that Tier. Cyan was very pleased with this result; everything was going according to plan now.

[Karga]: “That’s a pretty good looking sword, newbie”

Karga gave Cyan a palm on the back as a form of congratulation for obtaining such a good-looking sword.

[Karga]: “Of our unit, I am the one with more experience using swords, and I don’t mind teaching you how to use it, what do you say, newbie, do you want to learn from me?”

Even though Cyan was eager to learn how to use this Sword, he could only postpone for now.
