Chapter 028 - The Last Message.

In the [PVP Arena]

Cyan was gasping for air in the ring floor while the nanobots were repairing his body; he has already lost the count of how many times he has “die” since Boss dragged him here, not that he needed to count it out anyway.

Boss came closer and stood in front of him, with a question.

[Boss]: “Kid, what do wish for?”

Cyan could not understand the question at first, a wish, if he has to make a wish, what he should be wishing for? Cyan could only reply honestly, as he stood up back on his feet again.

[Cyan]: “Boss…, I honestly don’t know”

After he had said that, he saw a red blur coming at him, and then, he felt a strong force bringing him down to the floor again as his bones turned into dust, Cyan wanted to scream out because of the pain he felt around his body, but he could not do that before he fainted on the ground.

After 10 minutes Cyan recovered just enough to stand up back again, Boss came close again with another question.

[Boss]: “Don’t you wish for Power?”

Cyan could only shake his head give the same answer.

[Cyan]: “I don’t know”

Again, a red blur, however, this time Cyan tried to move away from it, but he was too slow, he felt again that smashing force as his blood and bones escaped out his body like a red and white mist, that started to surround him while the nanobots started to repair his body.

[Boss]: “Then, do you wish for love?”

Alice's face flashed on Cyan mind.

[Boss]: “Wouldn’t that be a waste of a wish?”

[Cyan]: “That shouldn’t be the case”

[Boss]: “Wishing for something that you already have…”

Power, Love, and Riches, everything a person could wish for, the power to win, the love of your loved ones, and the money to live a comfortable life, however, Cyan could not make a wish for that or the other.

[Boss]: “Why don’t you wish for something you lack?”

[Cyan]: “Something that I lack?… Boss, what do I lack?”

Boss shrugged his shoulders.

[Boss]: “How would I know?”

Cyan then saw the red blur once again coming for him once again, after his body has been fixed, however, this time, he will welcome it with all his strength.

Two soulless bodies met in the [Food Area] of course, these two soulless bodies belonged to Cyan and Alice, besides them, four other people were sharing the same table, and two, in particular, were having a great time.

[Karla]: “Uffffffff I feel so refreshed right now, hey newbie, you will eat that?”

Karla aimed her forth to Cyan plate, but Cyan did not move nor reacted it, as his eyes were out of focus.

[Karla]: “Then, if you are not eating it, I will help myself”

As Cyan was like a zombie, Karla could steal the food out of his plate with no problems.

[Karga]: “Hey Sister let some for me, hehe”

Karga was doing the same thing and was stealing food out of Cyan plate.

[Boss]: “…”

[Karla]: “Cough… then Boss how was the training for the kid”

Boss thought for a second before giving a reply.

[Boss]: “It was good”

That is all he needed to say, even though Cyan looked like that, soon, he would wake up, and then take notice that his food was being stolen by a pair of thieves.

[Cale]: “There is something that I want to ask”

[Karla]: “What it is Cale?”

Karla stopped stealing Cyan food for a moment and turned around to look at Cale.

[Cale]: “Did that kid did it better than me?”

[Karla]: “He did, why do you ask?”

Cale shook his head.

[Cale]: “It is nothing”

After that, Cale stood up and left his seat on the table as he was headed to the elevator.

Cyan has recovered at this time from his unfocused stated, just in time to see Karla trying to steal food from his plate.

[Cyan]: “Senior can you please stop stealing my food”

[Karla]: “What is this? Did you wake up already? And I was planning to make Alice spoon feed you”

[Cyan]: “Senior that…”

Cyan turned to look at Alice that was eating her food while taking a peeking at Cyan, they have not seen each other since the start of the training with Boss, nor they had talked after their date, because Cyan was a zombie, and Alice was also a zombie, even when they were seated at the same table for the past couple of days.

Cyan, on the other hand, could not help to ask a question.

[Cyan]: “Senior, what day is today?”

[Karla]: “Oh, you ask that, instead of asking how is your Girlfriend, Tsk, you got a lot to learn, kid”

Cyan could only lower his head in shame; even so, Karla did not stop.

[Karla]: “Don’t worry Alice has already told me everything about your little date”

Cyan turned to look at Alice but she was eating while looking away, he could not see the face Alice was making.

[Karla]: “First, you need to learn how to take a girl in real date then…”

[Boss]: “…”

[Karla]: “But Boss!”

[Boss]: “Karla”

[Karla]: “Tsk… ok, I understand”

Karla went back to eating from her own plate without saying another word.

[Alice]: “Cyan, it has been 3 days; today is Monday night of the Tower four week”

[Cyan]: “Three days already?”

Cyan could not remember much.

[Karga]: “Of course, you have been training with Boss for 3 days straight; you should check out your stats when you have the time, though”

Cyan went throughout his memories, and he saw red flashes and the feeling of pain, the last thing he truly remembers was when Karla was about to say something about some news, before the start of his training with Boss.

Cyan turned to Karla and asked her what she was going to say that day.

[Karla]: “Tsk, that’s why I hate repeating myself, listen here newbie, we made a [Breakthrough] three days ago, and it is not that complicated”

[Cyan]: “An [Breakthrough] of Tiers?”

[Karla]: “That’s right”

[Cyan]: “Senior can you tell how a Player can make a [Breakthrough]?”

Karla nodded.

[Karla]: “First, you need at least have one max out stat in your status, of course, you could have more than one, then, you need to obtain a [Skill], and then you need to learn how to use that [Skill] on your own, and the [Breakthrough] will occur, easy right?”

[Cyan]: “It isn’t maxing out your stats something pretty difficult to do?”

Karla could only shake her head, as she though Cyan was cheating with his stats and yet he said that. Cyan did not say anything about the matter but instead moved to his next question.

[Cyan]: “Then how do I obtain a [Skill]?”

[Karga]: “You make a wish for it”

[Cyan]: “A wish?”

[Karga]: “Right, you wish for it and then the [Skill] will pop up like it always was there since the beginning”

[Cyan]: “Can I wish for anything?”

[Karla]: “Haha, listen you talk newbie, aren’t you quite greedy? Even though you are making a wish, what you are creating is an [Skill] anyway, and there is something very important you need to bear in mind…”

[Cyan]: “And that is?”

[Karla]: “Nothing is free in this world, so the bigger the wish, the bigger the price that you will have to pay for activating the [Skill]”

[Cyan]: “There is a price to pay?”

Karla nodded.

[Karla]: “Yes, for example, you will feel tired after using your [Skill] and the stronger the Skill effects are, the more energy it will consume out of you, so not every wish should be realistically possible”

At this time, Cyan did not have any good idea of what he could wish for.

[Karla]: “Why don’t wish for a beautiful wedding? I am sure Alice will like it”

Karla could only giggle, teasing Cyan has become one of her favorite hobbies as of late, but she couldn’t tease him for three days in a row, so she was using the time she got right now, however, she has to be careful of not angering Boss too much.

[Cyan]: “Senior, can you tell me what do you wished for?”

Cyan asked while looking at Karga.

[Karga]: “I wished for something that could go Bum! And the skill [Bomb] was created, and in the days that you were training with Boss, I max out my STR and then I managed to activate it achieving a [Breakthrough] to the next Tier”

[Cyan]: “And what that [Skill] does?”

[Karga]: “First, it lets me double of my stats for a short amount of time, the gain in stats is so huge, that I think I can even go toe to toe with Boss and even beat him”

[Boss]: “…”

Boss was indicating that he wanted to test that out, however, even if Karga was happy about his [Skill] effects, he still lamented himself.

[Karga]: “However, such gain in stats, there is a price to pay, after I deactivated the [Skill] I would feel very weak and I could barely move at all, and in second…”

Karga did not want to say the next bit.

[Karla]: “It would burn him”

[Cyan]: “Burn?”

[Karla]: “His stats, the skill, it will burn them every 10 minutes”

[Cyan]: “Seniors that’s…”

[Karga]: “Save it, kid, I wish for it, and there is a price to pay, for wishing something like that, that would allow me to go beyond my capabilities, even so, this [Skill] will become my trump card on the future!”

Cyan could not say anything else about the matter and turned his head to look at Karla.

[Cyan]: “Then Senior what [Skill] did you wish for?”

Cyan was looking at Karla with expectation, Karga and Alice were also doing the same, as they didn’t know what Karla [Skill] actually did, even after she has managed to make a [Breakthrough] they didn’t know the effects of the [Skill] or even its name.

[Boss]: “…”

Even Boss was curious about it.

[Karla]: “Alright, alright, geez, you don’t need to look me with those eyes, Listen well newbie my skill name is [Theory]!”

At that moment, Karga exploded in a laugher.

[Karga]: “Hahaha, I knew it that it would have a terrible name”

Karla could only groan, but Cyan ignored it and asked his next question.

[Cyan]: “And what the skill [Theory] does, Senior?”

Even if the name was not of Karla liking, she still put a smug face, then took a paper and pen, and looked into Alice direction, then her eyes shined with a blue light, and she started to write down something in the paper, after a while she stopped.

Karla started to massage her temples.

[Karla]: “However, I can’t use it too often and it drains a lot of my energy, not to mention, it requires a lot of concentration, its effect is better and more accurate if I just focus in only one aspect”

In the other hand, Alice was all flustered as she read the piece of paper that Karla had written down.

[Alice]: “Senior why did write down my measures and show it to Cyan”

Karla looked away.

[Karla]: “It was the [Skill] results; I don’t have anything to do with it”

[Alice]: “Senior…”

Even if Karla had said that, she still has to “focus” in that, for being able to write it down.

[Cyan]: “Then Boss Skill was that red aura in his hands right?”

[Karla]: “Yes, Boss [Skill] you already saw it, but its name is [Armor Break], Boss, wished for something that could break the armored skin of the monsters, so that skill was created, as to what it is the price he has to pay”

[Boss]: “Energy and Blood”

[Karla]: “…”

[Karga]: “…”

[Alice]: “…”

[Cyan]: “…”

Everyone at the table could only remain in silence, a Power that comes from Boss own blood.

[Cyan]: “I see… then I will…”

However, Karla interrupted Cyan.

[Karla]: “I know what you are thinking newbie, but it is too early for you for creating your own [Skill]”

[Karga]: “My Sister is right, newbie, you first need to know, what you are good for, and the things that you lack, making a random wish now could be bad for you in the future, this is the same case for Alice”

[Cyan]: “I understand Seniors; I thank Seniors for the advice”

[Alice]: “Thank you, Seniors, for the advice”

Karla stopped for a second, she wanted to tease Cyan a little bit more, but after being thanked so honestly but she chooses not to.

[Karla]: “Cough, alright, everybody back to your rooms and take a rest for the day”

[Cyan]: “Wait, aren’t we training anymore Boss?”

[Karla]: “You should rest for now and let your body adapt after training with Boss for three days”

[Cyan]: “I understand”

After that, everybody left the area, leaving only Cyan and Alice behind on the table, Alice and Cyan were waiting for this so they could talk with each other a little bit more.

[Alice]: “How was your training?”

[Cyan]: “It was very difficult, and I don’t remember much of it”

[Alice]: “That bad heh”

Cyan could only bitterly laugh at that remark.

[Cyan]: “How was your training, did the twins were too angry?”

Alice could only let out a sigh, more than the training, having the twins stop fighting between them was actually quite more tiring.

[Alice]: “Karla and Karga both wanted to train me at the same time and they couldn’t agree with each other for the training, so I had to go throughout two types of training at the same time with two different teachers”

[Cyan]: “That bad heh”

Alice laughed at Cyan remark, making Cyan laugh just the same.

[Alice]: “I have missed you”

[Cyan]: “I also have missed you”

Then silence follows, as they just enjoyed the other company.

At this time, Alice thought of something else she wanted to ask Cyan.

[Alice]: “Did you thought of a wish?”

Cyan nodded.

[Cyan]: “… I did, but I don’t know if it's possible because of the price, what about you?”

[Alice]: “… I also thought of one, but I also don’t know if it is possible”

Cyan though of something they could do, as neither Alice Cyan, knew if both of their wishes could be accomplished.

[Cyan]: “Then let’s don't say what it is, for now”

[Alice]: “You don’t want to know?”

[Cyan]: “I do, but you know that if you make a wish, and then said before it happens, then it would never come true”

[Alice]: “Are you making a birthday wish now?”

[Cyan]: “Not that’s…”

Alice giggles to the flustered Cyan

[Alice]: “You were just trying to sound cool right now”

Cyan could not help but nod and lower his head in shame, however.

[Alice]: “Then let’s don't say it until it we have our wishes have come true”

Cyan nodded again.

Back in Cyan’s room

Cyan took his phone and read throughout his messages

[Notification]: “Player…”

There were also [Midas] announcements about other Players beating records around the Tower and moving first on the board, there were some records broken by Alice too.

He had also won a few rewards from [Midas] but weren’t that much as his training focused more on Player natural grow and in his PVP against Boss, not to mention the quest of winning PVP matches, his record was 0 wins and 99 loses all by K.O.

There were also, messages from Willy and advises on how to fight or other things he could do to win, but Cyan could not read them at the time of the training, however, he could use those pieces of advice for next time.

In the end, Cyan checked his [Status] information in the app.

After looking through is stats Cyan was a little disappointed, as his stats had increased from 41 to 49 in three days he was expecting more, his INT was still at 21 points, meaning that it didn’t have increased over the last three days, even so, after one week of training he was already halfway of maxing out his stats, maybe in one more week.

Even so, his Free Points had not increased that much from 21 to 25, if he wanted now he could increase his STR a lot more, but for some reason, he felt he could not just do that.

Cyan test this theory out, he tried to increase his STR using his Free Points, but even though the Free Point was consumed, his STR stat didn’t increase, to confirm this, he used another of his Free Points to increase his STA stat, but that it won’t budge either, Cyan could only conclude that.

[Cyan]: “I hit a bottleneck”

After wasting two of his Free Points, Cyan has realized that this was probably the reason for the rest; his stats would not increase, as his body needs some rest.

It was already near midnight and Cyan was starting to feel very sleepy, so, for now, he lay down on top of his bed and closed his eyes, however, before he could fall asleep, he got a new notification from his phone.

Cyan wanted to ignore this message and sleep, but his mind did not let him ignore it, it could be a message from Alice, Cyan opened his eyes and grumbling pick out his phone.

The message, however, was not from Alice but from someone else.

Message [You]: “You up kid?”

It was from himself self.

[Cyan]: “Right, he said he would write on Monday and today is Monday”

Reply: “Yes, I am up”

Message [You]: “Good, how was your training this past week?”

Cyan though for a second before replying.

Reply: “I think I have hit a bottleneck, my stats stopped at 49”

Message [You]: “What! Your stats already reached 49, that’s amazing progress, kid, you don’t have to worry, there are small barriers in the tiers, but most people break it without much problem, however, it would you do well, if you take a rest day for tomorrow”

Cyan was not happy with the thought of resting for a day, but it seems he would have to.

Reply: “I understand”

Message [You]: “Right, let me ask you, did you found out a way to increase your INT stat?”

Cyan remembered that he has not found a way for that, however, his future self should know about it, right?

Reply: “Other than using Free Points I haven’t, do you know a way?”

Message [You]: “Of course, I know, this will do you well also, you could even go tomorrow with Alice, wink”

Cyan felt his face cramping up as his own self was mocking him too.

Reply: “That…”

Message [You]: “Alright, listen out, on the [Rest Area] there is a hidden door behind a tree, behind that door there is a [Hidden Area], all you need to do is go inside that area and take a bath for a few hours, you can also take a bath there every day too”

Cyan remembered where that tree was as he thought, “it must be a coincidence”.

Reply: “That… thank you for your advice, I will go tomorrow”

Message [You]: “…”

Reply: “Is there something else you want to tell me?”

Message [You]: “Yes…, I am leaving kid; this will be the last time I will be writing”

After reading, this Cyan started to panic.

Reply: “Wait, why now? There are a lot of things I still need to ask!”

Message [You]: “Sorry kid, you are walking a different path than me now”

Reply: “Wait, can you at least tell me, from where the Monsters are coming?”

Even so, the last message he got was.

Message [You]: “Good luck, Kid”

Cyan kept sending messages, but no new replies came back, he could only stare at his phone until he felt sleep eventually.

His future self has come and gone, leaving Cyan with more question than answers.
