Chapter 14: Born Lucky

Volume 2 Chapter 1

The villagers who we saved have been resting in Qi village and were waiting for a safe route to be cleared so they could go back to their village.

The villagers took it upon themselves to beg us to clear out all the goblin camps between here and Gathri. I personally wasn't against it.

After the encounter with the Vitas-Moria the group had a gloomy aura as we didn't want to face the realization we all could have died. we wanted to get stronger so nothing like that ever happened again. we never wanted to feel that powerless ever again.

I didn't want to agree to the villagers pleas as I didn't want to throw my teammates into harm's way again so soon after that traumatic fight.

So I called a group meeting and asked if they wanted to avoid fighting for a while since the fight with the Vitas-Moria however they all declined and said they wanted to get stronger quicker so that they could contribute to the fights in the future.

Paul had healed completely in only 20 minutes after he was healed with Advanced healing magic, from a member of the church in Qi Village.

The woman who lost one of her arms, had received the best medical attention that Paul and I could give and she lived, we couldn't close her wound as we didn't know how so when we got to the village she was healed by a member of the church.

However we knew we needed some type of healer in our party so we suggested Brooke learn or we go to the adventurers guild and recruit someone.

We decided on recruiting someone and that person would teach Brooke, they would then have the option of staying or moving on.

We head to the adventurers guild, in the southern part of the village.

When we walked through the door of the adventurers guild, it was loud and very lively, we walked up to the reception looking desk and began a conversation with the receptionist.

"Hi my name's Gabriel, we would like to know about the adventurers guild." I asked in a relaxed tone.

The woman sitting behind the counter is a really good looking girl, she has dark black hair that is braided to the side and blue eyes that shine brightly

"Well we have a very high number of branches spread all around Aztar although there are other Adventurer guilds spread all over the continent, the other guilds are in Baraiizi the homeland of the beast people and the Dehoylss home to the demons, Xilac home to the Elves, Victus home of the Dwarves, and Rapture home of the Mer people."

"By registering with the guild you will receive better prices from all transportation costs such as buying or hiring wagons, inns, diners, and guides, as well as weapon, armor, apothecary, and magic shops that have our emblem on their signs, you can also receive quests from the bulletin board in our guild hall." She points to an emblem that looks like 2 broken wings with a series of swords that surround the wings.

"you do not need to be a guild member to put quests up however you have to pay us half the fee you are offering to pay for the quest and then the other half when the quest is completed." she finished explaining

"There are mermaids? where is Rapture?" I asked because the opportunity to see mermaids is once in a lifetime for someone from earth.

"It is far to the south east of Beraiizi." She responded

"We will apply then as the benefits are nice, and we need money as the money given to us won't last forever." I told the receptionist

"Then if you will present your bell Stones, I will fill out the proper forms and you will be all done in no time." She smiled as she told us.

"Bell stones?" I asked curiously

"You don't know what bell stones are? well bell stones originate from the Great bell tree in the Royal Garden, whenever a child is going to be born they go to the Capital and ask for a bell stone. " She asked back confused

"I see, do these bell stones do anything?" I asked

"when you pour mana into the stone it is able to identify which type of magic you are best suited for by glowing that color, it will normally end up as a mix of 2 colors as most people are only capable of using two types of attributes such as water and fire or fire and earth."

"As you carry it around it becomes accustomed to your specific mana and so if someone else holds onto it, it will pulsate and that is how to tell if someone is who they say they are." She explained it and in a way it sounded like it was a way to identify person to person kind of like DNA.

"We weren't born here so we don't have a stone, the king or priestess Yui could have given us stones while we were there though, kind of pisses me off honestly.

I guess we will just post a mission here as that was what we wanted to do to begin with." I say with a disappointed voice.

"Why do you address the king and Priestess Yui like you know them?" She asked curiously

"Oh well, we were summoned by them and they have treated us poorly so there's that." I responded to her question

"You guys are heroes? but there are 6 of you..." She said trying to catch a lie

"Us Five are heroes," he excluded Ares, and said "she is a guard from Gathri and as such she doesn't count, no offense Ares." I said back to her

"None taken, I did acquire a title though I believe it was 'Heroes Companion' and it increased my stats by 20. " What she didn't tell everyone was that it was actually the *False* Heroes Companion title and it was because she only believed in Gabriel as he was the one who had saved her.

"My status window didn't have a title location." I said to Ares

"Oh really? I got my first title when I became a guard of Gathri, I guess when someone bestows a title upon you, you will start acquiring titles on your own... Gabriel, I will always think of you as my savior and hero so thank you from the bottom of my heart for rescuing me." Ares said

"Oh you're heroes, the very first generation was special however after them every generation that followed has been disappointments, I hope you guys can save us from the evil Angels." She said with a hopeful tone.

"I will allow you to become adventurers without the bell stones if you show me your status windows and prove you are heroes" She said and so we figured it wasn't a problem.

(FOR ALL THE READERS, SHOULD I SKIP DOING THE TABLE TWICE AS I HAD A REASON FOR THE LEVEL UP SYSTEM HOWEVER I FIND IT TO BE DUMB NOW AND A WASTE OF TIME SHOULD I STOP WITH THE LEVEL UP SYSTEM AS MY CHARACTER NEEDING TO AUTHORIZE THAT HE WANTS TO LEVEL UP?)

"I even acquired 2 more special skills a new stat and a normal skill, Ill activate them so you guys can see them as well." I show them because they would trust me less if I kept my skills hidden from them.

She looked towards me after showing her skills and all in all she looked pretty overpowered but as I was level 26 and she was level 9 I felt sad that she was already that strong.

I smiled at her as she kept staring.

after I smiled she looked away with a refreshed look on her face.

Ares stepped up and before she could activate her status window the adventure guild woman said

"That's alright since you aren't a hero you don't have to and these 5 already proved they are heroes... well 4 of them anyways, I don't understand why a false hero would so willingly out himself as a fake or why these other heroes allow him to travel with them as he is a fake." She said pointing out my false hero class,

"I see, well even if I was summoned as a false hero or if I am a false hero because I understand there are no such things as heroes, I am still fighting for the sake of stopping the Angels."

"I see well the other generation of heroes also had wildcards mixed in with their teams, Ahhh out of all the heroes though I miss the very first 5 who died close to 5 years ago, there's a memorial for them in our graveyard." She said and pointed us to the graveyard.

"We may visit it some other time but we need to post a mission so can you show us how it's done?" I asked politely

"Well it's not difficult you take a paper fill it out and hand it to me, I will read it and give it a rank, unforeseen threats and the money it would cost will be taken care of by the guild such as a D ranked mission where a skeleton champion is later confronted would technically be a B rank mission and cost more, the difference will be paid out by us if they can prove the unforeseen threat existed such as taking the Skeleton champions engraved blade.

Also you aren't allowed to post quests directly to the board if you are caught doing so you will be stripped of your rank and suspended from the guild until we can decide an equal punishment."

"I see" I responded

She hands us a paper and it takes us 2 minutes to fill it out.

We hand the paper back and she reads it out loud in surprise

"Looking for a Healer class magic user to teach our Sorceress Healing magic." She opens her eyes wide and says to us.

"Healing magic cannot be learned. you are either born with it or you're not." she hands the paper back to us and we are dumbstruck.

"Okay well that means healers are very rare how many do you think there are in this city?" I ask hoping there are more than 10

"Healers will identify themselves when they enter a village or city as they are treated like royalty, free drinks, free food, free housing, free private bathing, a personal guard of her choosing if they need security, a free guide, free entertainment, reduced prices for armor, weapons, magic, books, and potions.

We only have 2 in our city right now and one happens to be sitting in the corner drinking her problems away... or she was you must have just missed her.

"Which way did she go, tell us." I quickly responded

She's in a black and Gold trimmed robe, she just left so she couldn't have gone far, she's probably heading back to the chiefs villa.

I wouldn't associate with her though she is a bit on the crazy side." She warns us of this girl. and points us in the direction of the chiefs villa but didn't need to as its the biggest establishment in the village.

We ran out of the Adventurers guild and spot a girl stumbling around in the direction of the villa

"Hey excuse us!" I shouted to her

"Whhhhhhhhazzzzzziiiiiiiiiiiiiit youuuuuu wantttttttttttttt?" She turns around and looks at the strangers walking past her.

"Umm were over here" I said to her to alert her of who was talking to her

"uhhhhkay ... whaddayuu wannnnnnt?" she slurs her words and bounces her head back and forth trying to keep her head up.

"We need a healer to join our party and..." In the middle of our conversation she threw up all over the floor and looked up and said

"Dooooooooo yuuuuuu guiiiiiiiise gottttttt Booooozee?" She asked with hope in her eyes.
