《Nano Mage》Chapter 8 Roaming Thunder vs Shadow Void

Wining my seventh victory, I was now officially a member of the magic school. It was now time for the finals. If anyone would have had the same score as me I would have had to do some rematches, but because of Roaming Thunder, Shadow Void and my victory streak, no one had enough wins to dispute my ranking.
The final round was held in a different location. Inside a cavern constructed by magic we find ourselves a place to sit. I sight down on a stump. Tina sits next to me. “So Sylphire, who do you have your money on. Could it be better to call you by number three?” (Number three? Subject thirty three!) It just occurred to me then, but being called number three was unsettling. “Kindly refrain from that!” Tina has a look of terror when I suddenly shout that.
The sound of the mana constructed river is oddly calming. I happen to stick my hand inside. The water flows smoothly through my hands as I gently lift them. It happens to be relatively warm. Tina emulates my action. “I heard stories, but these teachers sure are amazing.” I nod in agreement.
Clouds begin to form over the stadium. They are eerily dark. While Tina and I were busy conversing, we had missed the words begin. We were lucky though, it seems they were just starting their duel.
The sky above crackled with lightning. The ground below was engulfed in shadow. Both eyes suddenly glanced in my direction, then at each other. A heavy mana pressure was suddenly formed. (What is this?) At the time I was unaware that powerful mages gave off a field of mana when strong emotions arise.
Speaking of strong emotions and mana pressure. The stump Tina had been sitting on had turned into an ice sculpture. I noticed her shaking. “Are you alright Tina?” Being brought out of her daze, she looked at me, and then on the stump she was sitting on. “Eh? I mean yes I am fine.” When she tried to stand up she could not. Her bottom had been fastened to the stump. I chuckled slightly. “I can melt it for you if you’d like.” “Go ahead, but try not to scorch me.” “No promises.” I wink.

Having unglued Tina we went back to watching the fight between Roaming Thunder and Shadow Void. Blurs of purple clashed with blurs of black. Crater were forming. These crater looked much deeper thanks to the shadows. Roaming Thunder happened to fall into one.
“Shadow spikes really?” Irritated, Roaming Thunder blew a kiss in Shadow Voids direction. That kiss made my heart stop. The kiss was visible. Streams of electric currents traveled along its path. Shadow Void seemed to lift a cloak he was wearing to cover himself. In reality it was a cloak created solely from shadows. “Nice try bitch!” “What was that slut?” What was with this line of speech? It sounded like two girls who had found out they were dating the same guy.
Whenever shadow would make contact with lightning, loud sound vibrations were carried outwards. “Get your warm hot meat hear!” (What the fuck are you doing at a time like this Blaze?) It was true I was getting hungry. Did I have any money left? No I only brought enough with me for the entrance fee. That was short sighted of me. Tina looked in my direction. “It seems you did not bring enough money with you for food expenses. In that case as a thank you for earlier I will treat you.” “By the way blaze what type of meat is this?” “Lizard hide.” I was not sure how I felt about lizard hide, but as long is it did not taste like seafood I should be fine.
The lightning suddenly changed from purple to gold. Everyone in my location let out a single word at the same time. “Huh?” While we were captivated by the golden lightning, Shadow Void said two words. “Crimson shadow!” The shadows all now had a tint of red, their very own aura.

As the two colors clashed, a new color would form between them, a deep orange. Aura was walking back and forth restlessly. “Would you sit down!” I shouted out to her. “What?” Her eyes darted back and forth. “Oh! Sorry.” Finally she realized what she had been doing. “Not on me. What are you three?” I pushed her off. “But my cousin tells me this is what men like!” Did she not understand that was for a bounded couple. I how can I make her understand that this is not suitable to do with strangers? “Now listen hear, what your cousin meant was to do that with the men you will marry.” “So then I will just marry you, then it will be fine.” (Great she is an idiot.)
Roaming Thunder and Shadow Void caught her words. In an instant a swirl of orange met the barrier. It was directly in front of us. I shielded my eyes. Tina slapped Aura. “Do not be stupid. He will marry blaze!” “Oh? I see! Sorry for the interruption.” With that Aura left. “Why did you say something like that to her?” “Well you did have his meat!” “Are you an idiot as well?” “No just a pervert!” Blaze just stood there quietly while all this was going on.
“Great serpent shed your skin. Lightning wheel!” A circle of lightning rotated around Shadow Void. It was like a snake eating its tail. “Oh deep eyes of the night open your fangs. Screeching shadow!” A huge bat made of shadow bit down on Roaming Thunder’s neck. She screamed out in agony.
“Oh ancient form of life roam the earth once more. Primal Thunder!” The air was suddenly being sucked away from us, and converging to one point. That point was the center of the stadium. A massive wolf made completely from electricity had been created. “Is that one of the legendary primal spells?” Tears and screams were filling the stadium. I on the other hand had no idea what was going on.

8 175Blood of the Past
He awoke in a startled rush feeling as though it had been centuries since last he had opened his eyes, but alas, it had. His thoughts returned and he heard the screaming of his people and the great pain from the burning fires set against them. He was shunned and outcast along with the rest of his people, and the wars, the terrible wars fought because they could not understand. The Humans could not understand and would not understand him and his peoples true nature. He stood, his strength returning to him, as he did so the dust that had gathered on him fell to the floor. He looked around the cave which he hid in all those centuries ago and he found the way out. He made his way towards it, wanting to see the same as which he had when he entered, wilderness. He made it to the mouth of the cave and found it to be near midday, and he saw naught but wilderness. Save a lone tower far in the distance clearly overgrown and abandoned. His blood boiled as he stepped into the light and the harsh reality of him and his people rushed back into his mind. He would wait for night, and then he would move.
