《Death Mark》Ch. 3: The Stranger

"I'm saved, I thought he would kill me but in the end I survived!
Now it's time to return to the city and make some preparations, there's something fishy about the appearence of that Necromancer and the massacre which that bastard did.
If I were to go back to the commander and report, it's highly probable they would silence me."
Peter knew his worth, even if he was a Lieutenant level, offending a Necromancer wasn't something he could afford with his current standing.
It has to be mentioned that every Necromancer had to be at least at the commander level so they weren't existences he could compare to, at the moment.
"Hahahaha, you won't have to wait too long my dear brothers.
I will soon sate your thirst of blood...
Thanks to my clan's relic, it's only a question of time for me to attain Commander level power."
The jade pendant on Peter's neck briefly flashed with a green light as if sensing the ambition and thirst of blood of his owner.
...
...
"What a strange fellow... Well at least he gave me this card so I shouldn't treat him as an enemy the next time I meet him, if there will be a next time."
Giving someone an hospitality card was a common sign of benevolence in the Five Continents.
"I still don't understand what made him change his attitude so fast, I don't have a powerful master...
He talked about some powerful presence or aura but I didn't feel anything of the sort."
Dante tried to understand the reason behind Peter sudden change, but no matter how he racked his mind he still didn't find any clues.
"Nevermind, what's important is that I survived. I can think about this things later, maybe with a cup of tea or something.

Now I need to return to the fortress."
But just when he was about to resume his journey, he heard a voice.
"Stop kid, you are just getting yourself killed if you return to the fortress now.
If you leave this forest and find shelter far away from here, maybe you will be able to survive."
The voice wasn't aged or anything but it was domineering enough to make anyone think twice before doing anything.
Dante felt intimidated by it, so he tried to be polite to this stranger.
"Who are you Sir? Can you show yourself to this little one?"
He tried to be as polite as possible because he didn't want anymore problems for that day.
"Hehehe, at the very least your manners are good. I was really troubled just now as I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that a fool like you could survive until today.
But now I know, even if you are not the sharpest tool in the shed, at least you know your place."
Dante was really angered by this statement, but in the end he managed to calm himself.
"I appreciate your compliment Sir, but can you show yourself now?"
Even if he managed to control himself Dante was still burning of anger within, and he really wanted to know who dared to be this audacious with a Dungeon's soldier.
"Kid you have to look no further than at yourself to see me."
"What!?"
"Look at your Orb..."
Dante was stupefied, how could his Orb be related to the voice he was hearing?
Taking off his armor he looked at his Orb, only to be stunned once again.
The Orb that had been the source of his frustrations for the last year had changed, the once unremarkable Orb was now in one of the orbits of an eerie flaming purple skull.
Looking at the blazing flames Dante almost felt his eyes burning, so he retracted his gaze from them.
It was too strange, he had never heard of anything like that happening to other demons.
And then it happened.
The moment his gaze met that of the one eyed Skull, he was taken into the Orb.

Thomas the Brawler
Thomas doesn't remember what his last name was, before it became Bluebrim, a name belonging to another universe. He's also pretty sure he wasn't this stupid before he arrived, but what can you do, when a day that was supposed to begin with an interview to set your life back on track instead begins in a universe that makes no sense, with rules you can't begin to understand? Maybe he should have paid more attention to the avatar creation screen ... Content warnings: All of them. Seriously. Expect lots of blue screens to begin with. Don't expect a power-leveling fantasy, in which the lone hero beats up all the bad guys, and gets a harem of women. There's just a guy who treats character creation like an annoying series of pop-up advertisements, and the story is basically the ramifications of that. The main character has to learn to take the world he's found himself in seriously, and he'll learn the way most of us do, by doing it wrong first. This is, insofar as it is successful, a dark comedy fantasy. Also a bit of horror, particularly but not exclusively body horror. I'm pretty sure I've earned those Content Warning tags, so, uh, yeah. This is practice. Hopefully things improve as I go, and figure out what I'm doing wrong, but I make no guarantees things will ever get better. I've already made mistakes, I'll make more, and I'm happy to notice them each time I make them. You don't improve unless you fail. (On the plus side, it probably won't get much worse.) Feel free to point out anything you think I'm doing wrong; I don't promise to change anything, particularly if it's a matter of taste, but I am looking to improve, and figuring out what I need to improve goes faster if I don't have to try to figure it out myself. I've updated the earlier chapters for formatting, in the hope that it would make everything easier to read on mobile devices. Hopefully things work slightly better now, but please let me know if there are any issues anywhere.

Now, as he's about to have enough money to take them to safety, he receives an email from his old girlfriend ... which is remarkable, considering she's been presumed dead for years. Adam tries to think nothing of the email or the broken video file attached to it. He convinces himself that it has to be a computer virus of some kind until he discovers something terrifying: the video might link his sister to the worst night of his life, the night his girlfriend went missing, the night of "The Red Christmas". Then he realizes this could be a threat; his sister's life could be in danger. As he starts to investigate who sent the video, Adam begins to uncover dark truths about his neighbors and finds evidence that there might be a larger conspiracy at play. The problem is that he's starting to suffer from hellish hallucinations that make him question what is real. Soon, the only clear thing to him is that someone doesn't want him to dig up the past. Will Adam be able to stay sane long enough to find out what really happened the night of "The Red Christmas"? Will he succeed in helping his family escape the country?
