《A ragbag of stories, don't expect them to end.》Hunter

When we live a life that was never destined to be ours, we become haughty and feel superior. Others who don't have that much luck with their life become lower life forms for us, only made to amuse and work for us. Or that is what my family did. They said we are nobility, we are the top of the food chain, even the king who stands above use has to bow before us when we want something.
Laughable.
I saw the truth behind our world, behind our power, behind our family, behind me. Neither am I better then the average guy on the street, neither am I worse than him. The only difference between us is just one small thing called will.
The will to change, to strife forward.
That is when I took a step forward and destroyed the only thing that connected me to the average Joe on the street. I gave away my humanity and changed the body of flesh for a symbiotic and synthetic machine. Oil for blood, steel for bones, and a quantum mini computer for a brain.
The normal ending would have been with me losing the feeling of being alive, losing my emotions and the connected filters to it, but this never happened. Instead I felt alive, for once I felt my heart beating. My mortal body was just a shell I had to throw off to finally find the meaning of my life.
Even though I was called failed creation, forsaken by my own partners. Never have I forgotten the feeling of my first breath through the synthetic lungs. I had all functions of a normal living person, but the needs were no longer there. Food was just a luxury for the taste, as I never had to eat to exist. Air was not needed, the only reason I still took a breath from time to time was the old habit of my mortal shell. Water was just a auxiliary coolant, as I never had to thirst again, due to my body being able to absorb the needed water out of the air.

My heart, was unlike others. Never to be refueled or maintained. Cells were my biological base, Nanos were now my synthetic base. Unlimited adaptability, unlimited energy, just one weakness.
Mass.
To change, to adapt I had to absorb. No matter what matter, just as long as it was solid. Even bio matter could be used.
Yes, they called me monstrosity. A creation that broke the law of man and returned to the law of nature. Only the most adaptable will survive. Even if they destroy me to just a single cell...
I will...
Return.
My revenge... Will be bloody, that is one thing I am sure off. So be prepared, I am hunting, and you... could be my next prey.

Blind Wastelands
[Royal Writathon April 2022 winner] (Support me on Patreon ) They say it was a war that blocked out the sun. They say it was poison bombs that reduced the land to rubble. The blind wastelands were what it was called now. Where there were once sprawling cities, farmlands, and crops that grew in the sun, sparkling waters that shone like diamonds, there was now darkness; a cloying, viscous darkness that filled men’s hearts with dread and sunk their bellies like stone. What remained of humanity scattered away from the darkness as much as they could, banding together in settlements lit with gas lamps and bonfires. A young man named Yunkef leaves his home at Settlement 41 to join a Scavenger team to bring back much-needed resources for his Settlement but finds there are much worse things in the darkness than just the beasts. He meets Lady Black.

The Beta Test
Our nameless narrator participates in a beta test for an early VRMMO game Meridian 60. That's not the real name but it captures the spirit of the adventure given the chronological and contextual era of the game. His character is unique and special but purely for mundane reasons and not because of any inherent or social significance. The first chapter which is mandatory to submit a story on RR serves as a bit of a prologue with some exposition, although I limited that to a reasonble level. I plan to begin releasing additional chapters starting Thursday, to align with the 48 hour submission approval process and also because I have something to do Wednesday. I haven't written anything but the summary and first chapter, nor have I plotted anything out. This is because my plan is to release roughly 34000 words a day, 10 chapters of ~12.5 pages each, for 3 days at which point the story will be complete. I'd have liked to plan for more but handling the interface tables and so forth needed for a data heavy litrpg slows down the writing process. 100k words is a bit short, a standard pre epic fantasy 300 page spec fic novel, but this is mostly a writing exercise and I am considering a longer project if I can maintain the pace. Probably do a different concept, maybe a dungeon core, over 5 days, since a 500 page novel is more common these days. Slight subversion of VRMMO stories Stat heavy/crunchy No paying your bills by gaming No out of game conspiracies No angst, interpersonal drama, or damsels/dudes in distress Schedule is 30000 words a day excepting the first chapter, a limitation of RRs fiction submission system Fantasy, high magic, male lead, no party, guild, or harem No gore, some profanity, no sexual content, and no current plans for anything traumatic
