《Reincarnated As A Benevolent Tyrant》41- Not a Very Good Day - I
Advertisement
A youth with jewel like blue eyes & jet black hair was scribbling something on a paper with a focus like he was doing some war planning. After his recent thoughts on four field system, he had dedicated most of his time to finalise the system, so people could use it.
It wouldn't be a hassle to convince them, as they should be able to see the difference between those two systems & which was more favorable to them, but the most hassle was how to convince the soldiers.
The plan was to give them money to live off until the farming does its wonders, but it was easier than done. There were many people in this land who could do farming if provided proper infrastructure & incentive, but this duchy possibly couldn't take that toll.
And another thing for him to solve was lack of economical movements. There were things which could generate much profits if sold properly, but first he had to make a market for it. And that was not a simple thing to do.
For example, this land was filled with an abundant amount of iron, gold, copper & many other natural resources, but no one was using it. If calculated via modern methods, Arlet's hadn't even scratched the surface & James' engineering mind could dig very deep.
This duchy could become even richer than anyone in the entire empire. He just had to come up with something he had read like 10 years ago & remembering those was difficult. Yes, he was a genius with an over average IQ but was not Einstein.
He had natural talent still thinking about theses takes time. There are thousands of methods & this era's technology was not capable enough to handle it. He needed something which could operate without electricity.
There was something he had read in a book which helped make steel from raw iron ore without the use of electricity but couldn't quite put a hold on it. Just was that thing's name. If he just had the name, he could figure out other things & now he missed the good-old google. Even bing could do the job. But he had neither of those. He didn't even have a calculator to do the freaking long calculations.
He always took those small things for granted, but now he understood the actual weight behind small inventions. How they had made the life so much easier.
Kncok!
Soon a knock was heard & Adeline entered the room, humming some country song he had never heard of.
"So what are you writing?" asked the girl, inspecting the paper which had the four-field system written on it.
"Nothing, just some casual stuff, you know." said Leon shrugging his shoulder.
"Yeah, but when did you become so smart? You didn't even know how to write properly & now you are writing like some guy who sits at father's office to compose his letters."
"It just happened... Everyone needs to know writing & reading, at least. I was just not focusing."
"I doubt that. Still whatever, just do your job. And yes, father has urgently called you to his office."
"And you are telling me after 5 mins of coming here." Asked the man with blue eyes with a questioning gaze.
"I kind of forgot. But you got the point. Now go or he will get angry." replied Adeline, sitting on to the bed grabbing a bunch of papers & trying to read them. As nobles, they were all taught how to at least read & write. Now she used that to find out what evil deed her brother was planning to do next.
"But why does he ask for me?"
"How would I know? It's not like he told me the reason, but yeah, the Marquese & his whole family is here." said the girl without averting her gaze from the papers. Everything was bouncing off her head, still she was trying her best to understand these weird words.
"Which one?" asked James as there were 3-4 other Marquese & he had met only one.
The girl with glistening Sapphire eyes looked at Leon with an irritated face. She was just passing by the office when her mother told her to call him before entering the office. Thus, she had no info regarding who was that & how he looked like.
"What?"
"Do I look like I did some chatting with them?"
To her reply, Leon opened his mouth to say something but couldn't as she spoke again.
"No, I didn't. I was just passing by when mom told me to call you. That's all. I know nothing besides that. Happy now."
James nodded, saying nothing as he knew how it felt when asked pointless questions whose answers could be found easily. In this case, he just had to go to the office & everything was there.
"Now go, idiot. Dad won't be happy if you just sit here."
"Yeah, but are you going to stay here?" asked James as he was wondering what this girl was planning to do by reading those papers. Could she even understand those maths he had done to calculate the money which was going to spend on soldiers.
"Yes, or why do you think I am reading these papers with weird symbols?"
"Can you even read those?"
"For the love of God, why can't you just go?" yelled the girl with blonde hair.

"Fine, I am going, I am going."

Inside a spacious office room illuminated by a fair amount of natural light coming directly from sun through the window, sat 5 individual in their respective seats. The atmosphere was silent & tense, really tense.
The man with blonde hair * blue eyes who sat behind the large wooden table carried the most frightening expression of all, which was total composure. It was his signature style & was only shown when he was about to explode taking everything with him.
The first one to speak & the one who broke the silence was the man named Michael, aka Marquess Abercron.
"Please Lord, tell us what should we do?" asked the man in a pleading tone.
"Things are not adding up MIc, things are not adding up." Replied the duke in an indifferent tone.
"How?"
"You are telling me that my son forced himself on your daughter?"
"Yes. Yes."
"It's unbelievable. No matter how degenerate he can be, he still has morals. He can't break those & your words counter that."
"What morals you are talking about?"
"Never fight with the weak. Never force yourself upon someone. Never speak when not needed." said Heinrich in a cold tone which sent shivers down everyone's spine.
"There are many more, but these are the three I taught him personally & I can guarantee to anyone that he won't break it no matter the situation."
"But he did Lord. He did. He forced himself on my daughter. Your son took my daughter's chastity." Shouted the man named Michael & to his surprise a small smile appeared on the man's face sitting opposite to him.
Then Bam!
Heinrich slammed his fist on to the table with a terrifying expression, as if he was the living reincarnation of the devil himself.
"What do you think you are talking about, my son?"
"I...I..." The Marquess tried to retaliate by saying something but now words came out as the fear was getting hold of his whole body. The man in front of him was not that simple as one wrong move & you would be dead & now he was playing with the fire to prove his point.
"Tell me, Michael, do you think you can get away with anything as long as you put your daughter in it? I swear to God I will wipe out your entire family of this land if what you said is proved wrong."
"And... And what if you won't?" said the man in a trembling voice. Droplets of sweats could be seen forming on his forehead. He was scared, really scared & if this plan didn't work, then the end was set in stone.
"I will give you anything you want, but if you failed, then everything will end. I am warning you Abercron,"
"Yes, I will prove..."
Soon a knock on the door was heard & a man with black hair & blue eyes entered the room, carrying a casual smile but as soon as he saw the tense atmosphere, his smile disappeared.
"Leon, come here," asked the duke & he moved to stand beside him, overlooking the audience. One was his mother, the duchess & other three were the Marquess's family whom he first met on his journey to Esvet.
Every person present in the room was carrying the same serious expression, except the girl named Lina, who was looking at the floor from the very beginning.
"So, what happened? Why is everyone so..."
"Tell him, Lord Abercron." said Heinrich in a cold tone.
"Yes, So I..."
"He has an allegation that you forced yourself upon his daughter on the night of your stay in their home."
"What do you mean forced yourself..." asked James in a confused tone. He was not used to these medieval terms, as it was not common in 21st century. Here people used a paragraph of words to describe a bird flying, when it could be done by only one word.
"It means you took her chastity." Shouted the duke & it took one or two minute for James to realise what he was talking about.
"What?" screamed Leon with a surprised face. He had done nothing to her. She came to his room on her own accord & he just told her to go back, which she did. Then what the fuck was happening here?
"Stop screaming." said Heinrich with an irritated expression.
"I... I mean, who told you that?"
"This guy," said the duke, pointing towards the man named Michael.
"What the fuck do you think you are talking about? I did nothing to your daughter."
"What type of bullshit is that? You slept with her & now you are saying you did nothing. Have some shame, Leon." retorted the Marquess with an angry expression.
"You... bastard. Fine, let's ask Lina, what she has to say about this whole damn thing?" said James, looking at the girl who was sitting facing down. He had done nothing & was not just going to agree with these allegations.
"Lina, tell them..." said Michael in a soft tone as it was his plan all along.
"Y-es, you..."

Rise of the First Necromancer
Asrael Nessarat awakes on a sandy dune with a mouthful of sand and nothing but tattered rags in his posession. As the High Magus of the school of Necromancy, he once aspired to prove to the Emperor that magic still held a place in their society. But that day came, passed and inevitably accelerated his kind's downfall. Now; they are hunted, strung up and burned on pyres throughout the Empire by the Emperor's holy Inquisition- an efficient and ruthless army hell-bent on bleeding every last droplet of magic from the lands. With nothing but a mouthful of sand and tattered rags; Asrael is determined to seek the one thing his cold, still heart desires. Vengeance. This story can, at times, get very dark. It is not recommended for the faint of heart. This is not a story of an overtly powerful wizard who can pulverize his enemies from across the world, nor is it in any way, shape or form a joyous tale. We follow Asrael as he and his companions explore and seek to change an unjust world, where kindness and acceptance are exceptions, rather than the rule. If you are looking for a story to inspire hope or joy, this is not it. If you wish to read about likeable, heroic people, turn around. If you wish to see good battle evil, where the cut in between is clear, then this is not for you.

The Heretic Legion
Cover Art: Undead Master by Changling Assassin. Located at: http://fav.me/dbm60ex Used under license Creative Commons attribution non-commercial 3.0 per bottom right of the linked page. Summary: Just the story of a necromancer and his eventual army. Currently, the only major thing of note is a pretty fleshed out magic system. No set list of spells or specific incantations. Just rules similar to the laws of physics, within those laws you can do whatever is possible. Updates: I work Sunday thru Wednesday and updates tend to revolve around my scheduled days off. Currently, I release content as I feel it's ready for release because that's what I myself would prefer from an author. Warnings: This story is graphic. blood/necromancy magic that requires self-harm to use. explicit descriptions of sexuality. (though fairly tame outside of the marked chapters, at least compared to said chapters) and is generally darker in tone. If you're concerned you might start to read only to be turned off by these elements. See 7. Teetering on the Edge for an example of the graphic nature of violence or 9. Explicit Content for a fairly self-contained example of the most explicit of the sexual content.

Four story anthology
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] [participant in #NaNoWriMo] Preface: This fiction will contain four different stories set up as a challenge for myself and to get better at writing. The challenge for royal road writathon is a 55.555 word goal while the nanowrimo challenge is 50.000 words. Reader suggestions is turned on, feel free to point out errors I missed and I'll fix them up! Chasing sun, napping softly: Cultivation/Xianxia genre. Some parts will poke at the ridiculousness of the Xianxia gerne. We follow the life of a magical fox monster, who doesn't like how the cultivation world works. Said beast seems to have more knowledge than is usual for normal magical beasts. In it's infinite wisdom it decided to search for the main character of the cultivation world to have a cozy and safe place beside him. Our fox will act as a "wise beast" to coast along on the main characters rise to greatness, all for peace, happiness and that amazing napping spot in the sun. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing in first person. Comedic effect between talking vaguely and sounding wise. The cost of heroism: A story more centered around fights and mental health of hired mercenaries/heroes. The world is infected with an eldritch corruption. Humans are trying their best to explore and clear out wilderness and the dungeons hiding in them to establish new cities. Lords seek for hired hands to do the professional work. Thanks to the setting, the story will show how awful pasts are the norm and how pragmatic people became thanks to that. People exchange their sanity for riches, fame and gods acceptance. Interpersonal relationships change drastically and quickly. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing grim scenes/imparting a feeling of how grim the world is. Writing fight scenes. Showing different mental states. Describing their influence on people during fights, walks or even after successful or failed campaigns. Who will be the next powerhouse? : A story about a gaming show, it's host Staan and the different participants. Stereotype characters, stereotype backstories, silly challenges and quizzes. The winner of those challenges gets powerups for their power system. Be it magic, ki, psychic power or anything else imaginable and unimaginable to reach the power of gods. The challenges for myself with this story: A softer tone for storytelling. Making the reader smile and enjoy themselves. A different try at slice of life story. I was left behind on earth as my family conquered another world and enjoys riches, but that's okey because I got a cheat too! : Stereotypical Isekai story parody twisted into an Urban Fantasy story. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing over the top and overdramatic scenarios/scenes Writing in first person. Walking into stereotypical scenarios and making them more dramatic/giving them a twist. Different type of humor.

Knights of the Partition
We like to think there are no monsters. No magic, no gods, nothing waiting in the night but the stars and cold, hard science. It’s a comforting thought. It isn't true. Magic isn't common, mind you. Working forces is difficult in the Age of Man, and gods are limited in the ways they interact with the world. The great monsters of old have mostly been slain, or sealed away. But rare or not, the magic isn't gone. The great Working that protects us from the horrors of the past does not have the power to destroy such things. Instead, it created the Partition, a tapestry of worlds beyond the boundary of our own. There the magic roams, searching for a way to come back. I am a Knight of Avalon. One of the protectors of the Partition. How did I get this job? Poor decisions, mostly.
