《The Worst》chapter 41-

Somewhere unknown to most people there was a small girl, she was locked here all her life. This strange world was like a labyrinth, the people who came here were all bad people and tried to harm her so she harmed them instead.
Some days ago a strange person had appeared in her world, after all she was the strongest on here.
No one dared to disrespect her anymore, none but that man, he called himself Darknym and called her little Amber.
The first time he saw her he had burst in tears.
Her name was Amber, but she hated that name, it made her remember that bitch who called herself her mother. She had given her two names, Amber and Brown, the only thing the girl knew was that she was Amber Brown Sellers, the most unwanted child of the empress.
Unlike the other Divas Amber's psychic powers were Immense, she was only weaker than the Empress but even her couldn't deal with her. The reason behind it was because she was a little crazy or so everyone else claimed.
"What do you want to do next Amby?"
"I don't know brown"
"Let's ask Selly, she's full of great Ideas"
She said while talking to herself.
"You do know that you are talking to yourself right now?"
Asked Darknym, who was standing behind her.
He had been accompanying her for some time now and although she really wanted to kill him, for some reason she couldn't so she thought that he was just an Illusion.
"Who are you anyways, I don't like you"
She said rather angry but the next moment she begun smiling.
"Didn't he tell us already, he's daddy"
She then took a rather guffy expression and said.
"I don't like him, lets kill him"
Of course her psychic power did absolutely nothing to him and the girl who was wearing a rugged dress seemed rather unsatisfied once more and begun crying.
"Don't cry, here take this"
He said as out of nowhere a candycane appeared in his hand, Amber afte speaking to herself decided to take the candy.
"Don't you want to leave this dirty place?"
Darknym asked her, his face showed no expression but his tone showed a hint of warmth and care.
Probably on Merry and Rain knew about little Amber as he called her, although in reality littel amber, the small girl in front of him was already an old lady, the reason behind it was that when she was born there weren't today's capsules, that kept people young and Merry hated to even look at her.
She simply reminded her of Chris, so she gave her for adoption, but no one adopted her because she looked plain and not very cute.
The Orphanage she grew in was rather small and the staff of the place, although did their best to make their life as good as possible couldn't help them when they went to school later.
At that time Amber was very afraid of others, but little by little she became acustomed to people.
She begun smiling and was like a sun.
This is the first personality that Amby represent the happy days of her school life, a life without much thought and plenty of friends.
As she grew up the word begun changing, adults begun awakening to their psychic powers all over the world. Even some children from her generation had some weak psychic powers. The teacher then called her miss Sellers, since she too discovered that she had psychic powers and what better way to use them that a few petty mischiefs.

It was then that people with strong psychic powers begun commiting crimes, they simply didn't want to be ruled by a bunch of lowlifes, they had power to do whatever they wanted.
A persued car had launched right through their classroom, the masked man and woman inside didn't even care for the children they had already run over and took Amby as a hostage.
The two of them shouted Die!Die! while shooting with a gun towards the pursuing policemen. Undrer normal conditions the police wouldn't move on them but the two of them were simply too dangerous, they had already commited many crimes and come clean with them, every time they did the same thing.
Today the police had made their resolve to end this, under the command of their chief, a single word "Kill!" sounded and they begun shooting.
The two criminals thought that their luck had run out but the bullets for some unknown for them reason had stopped right in front of them.
"Kill!"
Resounded and even more bullets came flying.
It was then that the girl fell to the ground unconcious while the two criminals were turned into cheese, full of holes.
This was how Shelly was born, a mischievous girl with powerful psychic powers and a somewhat wacky personality, but that wasn't enought to make her go mad.
A few years after when she went to highschool, there was that boy whom she liked, he was intelligent and seemed to like her as well, it was then that she first got in touch with the virtual world and more importantly the most popular game W6, at the moment there was still a rather large hype, after all it was the game tha could turn you into a psychic.
At that time, ingame psychic powers were rather limited and easy to understand, since most psychic powers didn't even activate in the game world and people mostly played with passive psychic powers, which of course years later turned into trash.
Her Avatar's name was Brown and she was a warrior, and their team's leader and Diva. They did whatever all the players did and still lived their normal lives when not inside the game.
She had got somewhat close with the guy she liked but suddenly he left without telling her a word.
She of course wasn't crazy, she called him a few times and that was all.
Inside the game however he couldn't escape from her, he was in her friend list and she could see that he still entered the game from time to time.
For no apparent reason, she became somewhat paranoid and begun hunting for him, her whole group fell apart and she was left alone. You have to understand the the people inside the game were all her fellow students and people she knew in the real world.
With her now wacky behavior almost all of them became remote, trying to have nothing in common with her, they were of course afraid of her, since they didn't know what she could do, in reality she did act rather strange and most of them knew that she had a rather strong psychic power, which was further boosted after she had entered the game.
It wasn't long before she had found her ex-boyfriend and killed him, afterwards she became a criminal stealing and robing to live.
With her psychic power it was practicaly impossible for anyone but Merry or Rain to stop her.
Of course the ones who caught her in the end were neither of the two, it was the intelligence agency.

They simply put her to sleep and took her away, if she had at least wore a mask of concealed her identity that would probably not have happened.
Of course all the people wanted to know why her psychic powers were so strong, he went through hundreds of experiments and survived, after each experiment her powers became even stronger. The more painful the experiment the stronger she became, but that was only the tip of the iceberg.
The one called Brown became so stronge that her powers became uncontrolable, causing blasts of pure psychic energy to erupt each time she spoke or tried to speak.
This was the start to her insanity, anyone who approached her died each time she opened her mouth.
Brown was the impersonation of loneliness and rage.
Of course the father she had never met before had already been killed by her mommy but she didn't know it. But even if she knew that Darknym was her father why should she care, where was he when all the bad things had happened to her.
After Amber talked with her self she answered to his question with a "No", she hated this world, she hated everything that had to do with the world outside her virtual prison.
This wasn't the first time Darknym had asked her if she wanted to leave this place, but she was no fool, deep inside she believed that the outside world was bad.
Each time Darknym created something trying to change her view of the outside world but the stubborn girl was not much different than her father.
She was the reason why Darknym left Galie alone, he thought that in one year he could at least come to know her better, but she needed more time.
This dark gloomy place had nothing but cells, the little girl had all the keys and could determine if someone was to die or not. Of course she only killed bad people, meaning almost everyone.
In truth Merry had used Amber for three things, first she send the worst scum to amber to play with, second she used ambers body that practicaly radiated with psychic power to power her floating isle and lastly she used her as a special boss inside one of the game's worlds.
====================================================
Back inside the Game all hell had broken loose.
When Domina's doom knights came out of the portal they went into a frenzy slaughtering any creature that was near the portal.
Doom knights were practicaly immortal and Domina being immortal meant that they could no longer be killed by normal means.
The fourteen chosen players only then had understood their mistake, how the hell could fourteen parties defeat an undying legion.
The Doom knight had taken over the northern part of the Orkish mountains, which was once the home of the surviving Skyrres from the past invasions.
The skyrres that lived there either tried to join the Doom knights or fled.
You have to understand that the skyrres that were isolated from demonic energies had mostly lost their fury but now that the doom knights came they would gladly join their cause.
The doom knights' advance was halted quite early when Domina understood how insanely large Allastar really was. If he spread his forces too thin then even normal players would simply spawn kill his legions, no need talking about experts.
Domina quickly gave end to the slaughter and gathered the npc Skyrres turning them into doom knights. It was a pity that not all could be turned into doom knights due to them having too thin a demonic energy, those were the second and third generation of Skyrres.
Of course Domina could simply delete hims character and create another godly character to hunt down the Devil but that would cost him his legion and a good chance to take revenge on this world after all the only creature that is allowed to try destroying the world would be a demon, even players would find it logical while experts would find it interesting.
There was no aparent reason for the system to stop him, but it did set some restrictions.
To the north the Dwarves and frost Giants had already secured their borders, even the frost orks and goblins who were supposed to be wild monsters were now doing nothing but protecting the nothern borders.
To the east the continent of Anchora had already fortified the borders while the elven forest was no different than a death trap.
To the south the orks, troll and the fleeing Skyrres were preparing for a counter attack, the orks weren't willing to sit and wait to be attacked, while the goblins were amassed to become the main force of this assault.
To the west were the Ruined lands, a place where once Dwarves and Elves fought the great war, ruining the land and destroying anything there.
The place needed no real protection since even steping on that land alone would result in you sinking in the soft ground, not to speak about an army, passing through there would be akin to suicide, not that there was much to find there, after all the ruined lands were two big continents rivaling 1/10th of the whole world.
Only by flight could someone reach the scattered towns and dungeons of the ruined lands, but even that was difficult because of the monsters that lived there, they were simply too strong and all had the ability to fly.
The weakest point in their defences was of course Anchora to the east, the human kingdom.
Their forts could easily crumble and their strength and numbers were both inferior to the orks and Dwarves. Dwarves might not multiply like the Orks but their survivability and longlivity under the peaceful rule of the Dwarven king had made their number no smaller than that of the humans, while killing even a single dwarf is as hard as fighting a small groop of orks because of their great equipment.
Orks were simply strong and plentyfull, Dominas legions wouldn't have even a chance to breathe before they are swarmed and destroyed.
The frost orks, goblins and giants were rather high level monsters and although not troublesome to deal individualy as a force they were truelly an overkill, leaving him with no other choice but the human forts.
Before Domina could even breathe the first attack from the Orks was underway, it was a large force of players rivaling his own but the most terrifying thing was that they were only the vanguard force, thousants of players were still marching with the main force leaving Domina no choice other than retreating into the portal.
The moment the first player stepped into the portal he was dead, of course Domina would absorb the body of the player recuperating some of his Health, the reason as to why was rather simple, as he was now he could use no skill and couldn't even become larger than what he was right now If he becomes a giant, how would the small forts and strongholds stop him from destroying the world.
Far away Lidie and Galie oblivious to the Demonic invasion sail away from Eal island, while not far away Max,Red and Progie are trying to make their way to the port town, their path was one of great difficulty since Max had to protect both Progie and Red whose psychic powers had been suppressed up the mountain, but with the help of a few friends he made it through, they were his sworn brothers from the same Dojo, their leader was Honda and with their now great friendship they were travelling together after Lidie's trails.
If course Honda and the others had other ulterior reasons to help him. In truth the first people to want to help him were the chicks in the Imperial city, they were fond of the little npc girl and wanted to reunite it with its mother safely.
Since Max was already taken Honda and the others found a great chance to score some points with the ladies. A large crowd was now going towards the port town, there were no ships left at the docks but he could order a ship made, the only problem was that it took gold and precious time, they would lose one week or more before their ship was ready.
You might think that it's impossible to find someone once in the open sea but Max now had a magic compass.
"Progie where is your mommy?"
He asked and Progie pointed at the right direction.
This was the lost child program, which a girl in their group pointed out. She too had an npc child but it grew into an adult and was now living by itself in their family house in the Imperial city, few knew of this, but it didn't really matter since it was only a program so that their children didn't get lost in a city or town.
That's how they travelled so far, as for expenses Max had it all covered, he bought equipment and rides for all the players who were with him, riding on horseback or other strange exotic beasts they had begun rushing after Lidie, who of course was even faster than them since she and Galie could simply teleport away from any danger and two people were of course much faster than a large group like Max's.
Max had a large group of twelve people, including him and Red, they rode in pairs as each guy had already selected which girl to pursue. Well little did some of them know, since many of those girls had their own plans. Six men, six women and a little child were riding day and night until they reached the Port town. In truth it could be even called a city but due to some events in the past, it remained as a town. Because more than half of the Island belonged to the Yokai, the Jin side only had three port towns.
The Yokai don't give them any time to rest and the all the towns that were close to the borders after countless battles turned into villages, now known as noob villages, if not for the immortal Jins protecting the villages from being conquered then the whole Island would probably belong to them by now.
The matter about port towns and cities was a really important one for the Island. Once long ago, one of the Jin port towns had turned into a city, the Yokai of course then didn't understand the importance of that and completely disregarded it.
The Yokai have very few towns and even villages have a castle for the lord of the village, town, etc and because slaughters are commonplace at the Yokai side no sane person developed his village, after all npcs just respawn after a while and if you like some npc you can protect him/her by taking him/her to your castle.
That year the Jin Port City produced something priorly unseen on the island, a fleet of ships that patrolled the Island and destroyed any Yokai ship in sight, forcing the Yokai to only be able to attack by land which took too long for the players.
In response the Yokai amassed a large force doing a great naval battle, monsters against ships.
In the end the monsters had lost but the fleet couldn't be called a fleet anymore, the few remaining ships returned to the port city only to find out that the naval battle was but a decoy.
The city was turned into ruins, after that every time a Yokai sky found a port town that was about to become a city, a large battle begun.
At that time if the Yokai had lost, the entire balance of the Island would be the reverse of what it was now, since the Jin could simply land attacks from any shore they liked at that time.
Why am I telling you this?
It's because that time was arriving sooner than the Jin players had thought. The Yokai players had already begun to march days ago towards the same port town Max and his group had just arrived and waited for their ship to be created.
The leader for the Yokai was someone whose name birthed respect to the people of the Eal island.
Musashi, at least one of the hundred Mushashis that existed on the Island but he was rather famous, the reason behind it was that he was called The Mushashi, a dual sword master who had gained the Sword Demon profession but refused to change his race like most players did and remained a human among Yokai. Although his infamy came for another reason rather than his two swords, profession or race, it was for his quick temper and unsporty spirit, he played to win disregarding the code of a warrior and didn't care about the rules set by others, in other words he was a vagabond doing whatever he liked, sometimes he even worked as a Yojimbo(payed blade) for the Jin side. This time he was hired by the Yokai side and his reward was far more than satisfying.
Of course the Yokai and Jin had their own heroes, but few of them stayed for long, mostly because they grew bored and left for other worlds.
From the Yokai side there were two people to watch out for other than Mushashi, one called himself "Ieyasu Tokugawa" and the other was known as "Oda Nobunaga", they even begun recruiting people with historical names for more fun, of course only yokai live at the Yokai Capital and both were not human anymore, the first was a Yin Yang practitioner that could summon demons and the other was a walking samurai armor.
On the Jin side there were Four great heroes who protect the borders, the first and most important was a corps of players calling themselves Benkei, there are practicaly many people who just join them for the fun of it even if they don't have the same name as the other Benkei, they still fight to the last man and try to die standing, something however that they haven't managed yet.
The second was the leader of the intelligence corps, called Hattori hanzo, he and other legendary ninja named players make the intelligence corps also known as the ninja corps.
The third is the Ruler of the only town at the foot of the mountain, the Karakuri master Masuta, who with the help of his automated dolls and traps held an enormous Yokai invasion and protected his town till now.
However their strongest player is not a swordsman or a monk, it was the Miko called Sakura, a shrine maiden and Idol that protects only a small village at the borders, never leaving it for some reason, many tried to find out why but she only answers with "It's a secret".
In truth the Jin heroes have only one thing in common, they never leave their spots making it hard for the Yokai to invade since those spots are located at strategic passes, just imagine conquering a town and the enemy respawning at the town behind you. The spots of the four Heroes have long become spawning points for large npc armies, making it impossible to conquer the whole island.

They’re always pictured driving the newest cars, wearing the latest clothes, using the best gene-mods and implants. They’re supposed to be more than just human. At least, that’s what I thought until I Awakened. 8 226Thomas the Brawler
Thomas doesn't remember what his last name was, before it became Bluebrim, a name belonging to another universe. He's also pretty sure he wasn't this stupid before he arrived, but what can you do, when a day that was supposed to begin with an interview to set your life back on track instead begins in a universe that makes no sense, with rules you can't begin to understand? Maybe he should have paid more attention to the avatar creation screen ... Content warnings: All of them. Seriously. Expect lots of blue screens to begin with. Don't expect a power-leveling fantasy, in which the lone hero beats up all the bad guys, and gets a harem of women. There's just a guy who treats character creation like an annoying series of pop-up advertisements, and the story is basically the ramifications of that. The main character has to learn to take the world he's found himself in seriously, and he'll learn the way most of us do, by doing it wrong first. This is, insofar as it is successful, a dark comedy fantasy. Also a bit of horror, particularly but not exclusively body horror. I'm pretty sure I've earned those Content Warning tags, so, uh, yeah. This is practice. Hopefully things improve as I go, and figure out what I'm doing wrong, but I make no guarantees things will ever get better. I've already made mistakes, I'll make more, and I'm happy to notice them each time I make them. You don't improve unless you fail. (On the plus side, it probably won't get much worse.) Feel free to point out anything you think I'm doing wrong; I don't promise to change anything, particularly if it's a matter of taste, but I am looking to improve, and figuring out what I need to improve goes faster if I don't have to try to figure it out myself. I've updated the earlier chapters for formatting, in the hope that it would make everything easier to read on mobile devices. Hopefully things work slightly better now, but please let me know if there are any issues anywhere.

8 78For King and Kin: A Fox's Journey
Two fox-kin siblings set out to serve a human king, hoping to secure ties with the royals that had formed in times of war. Yet, much is demanded of them as their father's reputation precedes them. They find the King struggling to keep his vassals from breaking the terms of the armistice. With reports of smuggling increasing and the nation's strategic resources at stake, their father is sent to oversee the border. The king, fearing for his own children, hopes for six more months. Meanwhile, tavern brawls turn bloody as a cry spreads across the land, "Loyalty? Or bread!". What to expect: - cold steel weapons with magic- colonial-esque era- elements of strategy (including logistics)- powerful mages that can't block a crossbow bolt. Except for some earth mages.- realistic depictions of violence. I don't care to focus on it. - other races introduced eventually, if they fit. - Australian english, except when I slip. Not much slang though, I reckon.
