《The Worst》Chapter 8 - Bad Choices

Lidie's POV
After meeting the leader Lidie felt somewhat relieved, at first she thougt that they were going to a normal guild and would have no way to see if Simon and the others were spies but now she was okay with it.
"Galaxia, I have good and bad news"
Time said as he gave her a sad look.
"Leader you can speak freely"
Lidie said rather intrigued, she didn't know what the bad news were but as for good it had probably got to do with Galie.
"As you might have already figured out Galie is a safe pass, I don't even know where she came from but she has no clearance whatsoever, she's just monsterously strong"
Time said while smiling at Galie.
"The bad news are that all your other friends Simon, Verina and even Mary have givings with the guardians"
He said somewhat sad, although in truth he wasn't 100% sure for Simon but since Simon said that Zephir was his friend there was a large possibility for him being a spy.
"Leader, do we kill them or do we just let them roam Allastar aimlessly?"
Lidie asked somewhat angry, it was of course understandable as they had betrayed her trust fully.
Only Galie was clean, and the last few days they were like sisters.
"Lidie, there's problem at home, we should return"
Galie said surprising both Time and Lidie.
"Can I help?"
asked Time quite friendly.
"Dad said you still owe him money and that you are an unreliable person"
Galie said before she logged out.
Lidie and Time were left dumpfounded, but Time was even more shoked.
Even after lidie logged out he went through his files looking for a person to whom he owed money but he couldn't find anyone, he then went through Galie's file but still didn't find anything suspicious.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lidie and Galie were now in the capsule room and in front of them was the young dad.
"Galie and her friend, I am really disappointed in you both, how come you haven't gone to school for so many days, your teacher has been looking for you for some time now"
He said shocking Lidie to the core.
'What school?' they were both wanted criminals and he wanted them to go to school as if nothing went on.
"But father school is lame and useless, I already know everything they try to teach me"
Galie complained.
"And have you made friends, have you experienced studying for tests have you experienced being late for class, being caught unprepared and other school experiences that will shape your character"
Darknym said but to Lidie it all sounded like a pile of shit, if it was the old system then maybe she could have experienced some of that staff but even then it wouldn't matter in her life afterwards.
"And you Lidie, why do you even go to school, you are an adult already try acting like one"
He said rather Irritated, Lidie couldn't even feel when he had read her memories or how he knew about her.
"Now go to sleep, tomorrow you will go to school"
He said to Galie who angrily went to sleep. Outside it was probably night but Lidie couldn't tell the hour inside this strange crystaline room.
"Now, Lidie I think that we have to talk"
He said as he teleported them both away.
-----------------------------------------------------
Lidie was now in the strange living room once more.
"You can sit down"
Darknym said somewhat irritated.
"Sir, could I inquire why you are so angry today?"
She asked, it was impossible to think that it had only got to do with Galie not going to school.

"Lidie, do you know how tiresome it is to look after others"
He said after exhaling heavily.
"You mean Galie?"
Lidie asked.
"Nope Galie is strong even without my help there are few who can keep up with her if she gets angry, I mean you and your other friends"
He said and passed to her a tablet, it was rather low spec but there were numerous photos and info in there. The first few were about errors in the system, the next were about revs being caught and then there was a photo of herself and Galie appearing in Allastar and other information about them. The most of course troubling thing was a map with a tracking code that showed their location at some point of the report.
"Do you know a girl called Verina?"
He asked mockingly.
Lidie hadn't went over all the reports yet but somewhere in the end there were two reports that made her eyes pop out of her sockets.
Simon and Verina had become level 1 Guardians, to her it wouldn't be as shocking if someone told her they were spies but Guardians were supposed to be powerful psychics.
'It doesn't matter, leader can help conceal our location for some time'
She thought, Leader's abilities in hacking were legendary and he had overcome many a crisis.
"Let me inform you that in a few moments Simon will be attacking your HQ, that's one of the reasons I have asked Galie to leave Allastar, well it's mostly for your safety and Galie won't be able to protect you this time, I really don't want to have her suffer that yet but if you were to go now you would both suffer greatly"
Darknym said.
Lidie didn't know what to say, she didn't fully trust him but what reason would he have to deceive her.
"Will you please help us?"
She pleaded, she didn't have the strength to do anything but she knew that the one in front of her was really strong.
"Why should I?"
He asked making a fool out of her.
Lidie was about to cry, she was too weak to make a difference in the outcome and it was her fault that Simon could enter the HQ in the first place, of course it was partially Darknym's fault that he was awakened but he would have awakened anyway even without his help.
"Father! Why did you make Lidie cry!"
Shouted Galie who just appeared out of nowhere.
"Wait Galie it's not what you are thinking"
He said somewhat nervous.
"Don't lie to me, I'm sure it's your fault, why won't you help sister out"
Galie said angrily.
"For the hundredth time, she's not your sister, she just looks like you and has the same height, voice and whatever, the most she's your friend and I have already helped her by getting you two out of there"
Darknym said, he looked somewhat angry now but Galie didn't seem to care one bit, she probably thought that she was in the right this time.
"Then I will help her myself"
Galie said rather angry but when she was about to leave for some reason she couldn't.
"Galie, how many years have you lived in this world, do you want to be used and then thrown away like a used handkerchief"
Darknym said to her seriously, in truth to Galie the revs were nothing but trouble she could be a friend with Lidie even without them.
Galaxia however didn't seem to care she grabbed Lidie and rushed out of the room, Darknym did nothing but frown, He really hated looking into the future because it ruined all the suspense but he smilled wickedly after just a glimpse of the new changed future.

You have to know that the future seen is only right if the person himself or another future teller doesn't get involved in it, after changing it a new future is created, Darknym had now done just that, he had created a more plausible future for him and his daughter.

Frost's POV
Frost's Armada had already reached the Island where Galaxia's signal was but suddenly it simply dissapeared.
Of you think that it was too fast, it wasn't, with the use of wind and water magic ship travels in Allastar are rather fast, the only problems are monsters and pirates, if you exclude the possible natural disasters.
"It seems that she logged out"
Someone said, it wasn't because he could track the code but rather because the Admiral stopped issuing orders.
"Close the city!"
Frost commanded and within a few minutes the ships anchored and npc soldiers surrounded the whole port city while some ships baricaded the port. No one could enter or leave the city, the soldiers said that there was a search going on inside the city and it might last for a few days. Frost himself and his four subordinates barged inside the Time to travel guild hall. It was the last location where her code was traced.
"Mr Time is waiting for you"
The bussiness lady said as she saw them entering.
"Time?"
Frost's face twisted a few times after hearing the name.
"Is Mr Time trully inside?"
Frost asked courteously, if seen from someone they could clearly see fear in the depth of his eyes.

Simon's POV
Simon after going through the instructions found an even easier way to raise his clearanse level, all he had to do is get into the Revs HQ, the rest was easy. He didn't even understand why others didn't do that before, of course he couldn't have known that his psychic power completely hid his guardian status at any given time.
The moment he entered the HQ he sent a signal and hundreds of messages were sent to all the revs who were in the HQ, it was a surrender or die situation. He somewhat regreted seeing some pretty girls dying as they refused to submit. By the time time Galie and Lidie appeared only he and a few spies was left standing in a room full of corpses.
"You bastard!"
Lidie shouted as she charged at him. Simon tried to send the signal once more so that she would also get the message but something wasn't right. In a rush he activated his power, he knew that Lidie had the strength of a gorilla, one of her fists would make him fly, but under his power, he didn't even feel half the power of the punch, her real strength was really feeble.
"Am I?"
He said while laughing somewhat boastfully, he then grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him.
"Galie, don't even dream of making a move, if you do I will sent your friend to prison"
He threatened as in his hand he had a strange pair of bracelets that could be seen as handcuffs.
Galie was lost for a while, she probably knew what prison was but she didn't know what a virtual prison meant.
"Galie, fry his brain, kill him!"
Lidie shouted furiously with tears in her eyes, some of the corpses she knew pretty well.
Galaxia was left standing until another visitor arrived, it was Kaj. She came after learning that Simon became a Guardian as well and not only that he even caught nearly a hundred revolutionaries, the message was already circling the Guardian information network.
"Simon aren't they..."
Kaj wanted to ask but suddenly she understood why Zephir had appeared that day, he was obviously after these people.
"Kaj, How on earth did you enter?"
Simon asked somewhat surprised, his power was still activated so it would be impossible to use system based things, at least for others it was so, he himself was still able to use the Guardian inventory and other stuff but he was too inexperience at using his power.
"Just teleported next to you, it's easy after you gain some clearance levels"
She said somewhat irritated.
"So Galaxia will you surrender, or do you want Lidie to die?"
Simon said but this time he made it into death since Kaj had the ability to kill people inside the Virtual world.
"I...I?"
Galaxia was left speachless she didn't know what to do, she had tried to mind control Simon but he was rather resistant, telekinesis also didn't work on him too well but the problem was that inside the Virtual space he was far more powerfull than he was in the real world, while she was limited to her normal powers not to say that even they were somewhat hard to use. Galaxia's head was hearting as she tried to come with a way to overcome this crisis.
Suddenly in front of Lidie appeared Galaxia's father, everyone else was frozen as he looked at them.
"I told you that it was bothersome, now do you believe me?"
He reprimented her but when she tried to talk he interupted and turned towards Galie.
"Galie, your friend wants to fight against the whole world, do you think that doing so is wise, I told you that I would protect you two but she wants me to protect a large organization that's made of thousands of people, do you think it's easy?"
"But..."
Galaxia wanted to say 'you're strong' but Darknym didn't even let her speak.
"Why bother to do something that's pointless, do you know that the margin of people who want to leave the virtual world are below 10% of the total population, maybe in the far future they will reach 20% or even 50% but the system of making the strongest as guardians gives people hope that they can enter the ranks of guardians, the whole revolution is nothing but a farce, this organization is but a recruitment room, those that wish to serve are given a position of power and become satisfied while those that don't want power and desire only freedom are put down, Time trully is a genious when it comes to business"
Darknym explained leaving Galaxia dumpstruck, she had just understood that there was never a revolution, the factions that Lidie so gloriously had described to her were but a hoax.
The Anti-Empress faction was a simple gathering of people which was the first step of a glorious plan, then there was the Archive and The Revolution. Those that entered the two groups sometime in the future would be caught and either recruited or killed. The strife was a way to filter the strong from the weak, those that were strong were given power and the weak could do nothing against the strong.
Simon and the others were frozen but they could still hear him speak.
"Galie, I will give you two choices, but you must decide really carfully, you don't have to answer right now but please consider it well"
Galaxia and the others looked somewhat shocked at the moment, Simon in particular was too terrified to speak.
"So Galie do we stay on this planet or do we leave right now?"
Darknym asked, these words came as a surprise to all but Galaxia who was somewhat familiar with how her father works, he was simply lazy to the extreme.
After becoming godlike in power, he had grown lazy and only recently begun tinkering with some new inventions but even those had started to dwindle little by little, he had already gathered all the Intelligence of the planet and had no reason to remain on the planet any more but to her it was a new world that offered adventures and even a person whom she was fond of.
"I want to stay"
Galaxia said with tears in her eyes, she was like a small child that wouldn't give up on a new toy.
"Alright, then Lets make some rules"
Darknym said as he patted her head and wiped her tears clean.
========================================================================================
Zephir's POV
Zephir and Verina were now In Allastar, for her to gain a level 1 clearance was rather troublesome since her power was somewhat special, so they were training her profession and killing monsters.
Zephir wanted to give up on her but she was somewhat cute and he enjoyed her company, he decided to stay with her until he found a better companion or she became a guardian, which after some time later did happen.
Suddenly a thought came to his mind, a rather sudden reminder of what happened a few days ago. After he had beat up Simon, Simon said something about having fucked her. It wasn't that he cared but it was somewhat unsettling, he tried many times to find Simon at home but Simon didn't open the door anymore, meaning that he was probably not inside or he simply was too afraid of him. At least that was what he thought when the news about a new very powerful Guardian came out. Of course he didn't give it much thought at first but a few days afterwards he had a visit in his own Mansion. His Virtual house was huge, thus it could only be called a mansion.
Bang! Bang!
The door was knocked as if with a hammer.
"Shilla please go open the door!"
He ordered.
Shilla was an Npc maid that worked for him doing mundane stuff around the house, with pretty dark skin and hair.
After opening the door.
Bam!
He heard something falling down, to his surprise in his house barged Simon and Shilla was on the floor like a ragdoll.
He didn't know if it was because of his ability or because of some guardian stuff, it wasn't impossible to deactivate Npcs after all.
"What do you want?"
Zephir asked furious, seeing his smilling mug.
"I came for payback"
Simon said as he came closer to him.
Zephir instantly charged with his hyperspeed but at some point he tumbled on the floor and fell. It was rather strange as he for some reason could no longer use his psychic abilities.
"Now we are fighting like equals"
Simon said as he went closer.
It was a miserable sight, as Zephir kicked the shit out of simon once more. Zephir even without psychic abilities was still a soldier of sorts, he had to train a lot and painstalkingly to make better use of his abilities while Simon was just a school boy who had a rather convenient psychic ability.
Simon was now crawling on the floor trying to reach the teleportation outside the door, hie psychic power was now deactivated as he was exhausted.
"I will give you a lesson that you will never forget"
Zephir said as he took a strange collar out of his guardian Inventory, It was a gift from someone a little more high place than him, one of the ten Divas had personally given it to him after a night of hot passion.
"This collar will seal your psychic abilities, now if you will be a good boy and listen to my orders I will let you go, after all we are both fellow Guardians right?"
Zephir said as he strapped the collar on his neck with an evil smile that said that he was lying.
Simon was left dumbstruck, he could never had imagined that a powerfull artifact like that could be in the possession of Zephir who wasn't even a centurion, he had already seen the top ten Guardian artifacts and the collar was number 3.
"Now Shilla please escort the intruder to the education room"
Zephir said smilling wickedly.
========================================================================================
Simon's POV
Simon was at a loss when He had seen Darknym appear in the HQ but he didn't care about the rules he set since they were only valid for Galie and Lidie.
Simon didn't dare to act against Darknym and he restrained Kaj from doing something stupid. He was holding her back with trouble while she really wanted to punch Darknym at least once, the reason for it was because he called her an obnoxious bitch.
"The rules are simple, you will normally go to school in the morning and at night will return to sleep at home"
Darknym said but they could see Galie somewhat displeased by his words.
"Second rule, you are not allowed to enter any faction either guardians or revolutionaries"
Darknym continued to that Galie didn't seem to mind at all but Lidie looked somewhat sad.
"Last you have to make ten friends in total, Lidie not included"
Darknym said smilling but to this Galie's face somewhat paled, she didn't know if it was easy or hard making friends but she knew that her father's views on friendship were rather faulty and too serious, in all those years there were only two people Darknym had ever called friends and both had already died either to save him or because he wasn't strong enough to save them.
"Now back to you Simon, you lowly insect did you think that I didn't know what was in that dirty mind of yours!"
Darknym shouted making both Simon and Kaj freeze in fear, they didn't know why but the surounding was now getting filled with strange black smoke.
They couldn't even talk as they were frozen solid, they could only watch with their eyes pinned on the figure of the young man before them, his form twisting and his skin poping apart like a balloon, from inside a large white round Drama mask appeared.
It was moving rather strangely as they now couldn't even see around themselves inside the darkness. Suddenly Simon couldn't see where Kaj was and she too probably couldn't locate him.
"So you little shit wanted to make my Galie strip for you?"
Darknym's voice echoed in his mind.
"Are you the Devil?"
Simon asked panicked, he had remembered seeing the person a few times before but to him he was a rather mysterious character.
"Worse"
The voice said and suddenly The darkness dissapeared, and he appeared next to a naked Kaj, she was trembling and whispering.
"No more, I will be a good girl"
Simon couldn't imagine what had just happened but for some reason although he found her sexy, his thing wouldn't erect.
He took Kaj to his home and led her to one of his secret rooms, she was completely broken but he could do nothing, even when she put his dick in her mouth it wouldn't work at all, he felt nothing no excitement, nothing at all.
"Noooo!"
He shouted furiously throwing her aside and then he barged towards Zephir's place, he wanted to kick his ass to relieve some of his boiling rage but instead it was him who was humiliated and locked in a dark room.

The Beta Test
Our nameless narrator participates in a beta test for an early VRMMO game Meridian 60. That's not the real name but it captures the spirit of the adventure given the chronological and contextual era of the game. His character is unique and special but purely for mundane reasons and not because of any inherent or social significance. The first chapter which is mandatory to submit a story on RR serves as a bit of a prologue with some exposition, although I limited that to a reasonble level. I plan to begin releasing additional chapters starting Thursday, to align with the 48 hour submission approval process and also because I have something to do Wednesday. I haven't written anything but the summary and first chapter, nor have I plotted anything out. This is because my plan is to release roughly 34000 words a day, 10 chapters of ~12.5 pages each, for 3 days at which point the story will be complete. I'd have liked to plan for more but handling the interface tables and so forth needed for a data heavy litrpg slows down the writing process. 100k words is a bit short, a standard pre epic fantasy 300 page spec fic novel, but this is mostly a writing exercise and I am considering a longer project if I can maintain the pace. Probably do a different concept, maybe a dungeon core, over 5 days, since a 500 page novel is more common these days. Slight subversion of VRMMO stories Stat heavy/crunchy No paying your bills by gaming No out of game conspiracies No angst, interpersonal drama, or damsels/dudes in distress Schedule is 30000 words a day excepting the first chapter, a limitation of RRs fiction submission system Fantasy, high magic, male lead, no party, guild, or harem No gore, some profanity, no sexual content, and no current plans for anything traumatic
