Chapter 3- Other worlds are a pain to the brain
--Reveka---
I am a gamer, a shut in book reader, a big time daydreamer and an open-minded (maybe) NEET so the existence of other worlds is something I easily… somewhat accepted. I am one of the many people who probably wished something like that was real but like I said I’m a gamer, a reader, a dreamer meaning I play fantasy games, read paranormal novels, dream about other worlds, not wish to be in one.
Especially this scenario, it gives me this feeling: déjà vu. Yeah this is one of those scenes: the under average guy suddenly goes to another world and gains abnormal powers and becomes a hero or something like that.
I can’t really picture myself as a hero. Feelings like justice don’t belong with people like me. Saving others? That’s impossible. I can’t even hold a proper conversation with humans (Bride’s probably fine because she’s a sword). My feeling towards other people might go as far as curiosity or a nice type to chat online with, not further.
Speaking of Bride, she is also not something that goes with heroes. No matter how you look at it she’s a freaking talking demonic sword… but then again, maybe that’s normal here.
My information about this place is close to zero. Why close? Because I at least know that there are talking swords in here and that I’m in some forest somewhere in some kingdom called Degrife or something and that’s about it.
--Bride---
So yeah, one thing led to another but I somehow found my hero… heroine. I thought I would remain useless all my life. Humans had tried to use me before but they were as successful or should I say success-less as the demons.
Now it’s different. I can go full power and no one will be able to stop me. Muahahaha. Wait for me world. All that’s left now is world domination.
…Oops, wrong line.

“So what do we do now?” Reveka asked out loud though it was meant more as a question to herself.

“Get out of here, of course. The air in here is not good for ‘my’ skin.”
After those words Reveka cast a glance at Bride, not knowing whether or not, from now on, to trust this talking sword. It was bit late for that though.
“We’ll naturally get out of here. I can’t survive by eating air, you know. So we need to find a town.”
“You can eat air?”
“But what to do about money?”
“Hey, did you hear me?”
“And as it is I look plenty suspicious.” She said this while glancing at her clothes, a Minions patterned shirt and pajama-looking trousers. Yep, couldn’t get more suspicious.
“Oy, Middleworld to Reveka.”
“Hmm, what should I do?”
“Are you listening to ‘me’ Revi?”
“Revi?”
“What so you were listening? Don’t ignore ‘me’, you stupid Revi.”
“By Revi you mean me?”
“Of course, unless you see someone ‘I’ don’t. If so by all means introduce ‘me’ in the grandest manner possible at least.”
“Do you think they might think I’m crazy if I try to explain my situation?”
“Don’t go back to ignoring ‘me’, hey!”
After some minutes of monologue and self-talk…
“Bride, why isn’t there a manual for this?” She kind of gave up trying to think about the next course of action.
“Now you decide to talk to ‘me’? And what manual?” From her voice Bride gave the impression of a child puffing her cheeks angrily but still too cutely to ignore.
“Nevermind.”
“ ‘I’ won’t mind a thing as long as we get out of this forest.”
“Yeah. I intend to do it but you’ve been saying that for a while. Any particular reason?”
“There are foreign presences here. Something smells fishy and it doesn’t sit right with ‘me’. We better get out as soon as possible.”
“Foreign?? You mean me?” As she said this Reveka tried to sniff herself. “I don’t smell fish though. I don’t remember eating any lately.”

“Are you sure you aren’t an idiot? What fish? And the foreign presence ‘I’ talked about is…” she stopped and took another look at the girl before her, “coming mostly from you… Are you a human?”
“Oh I’m human… I think… That might have done some damage to my body and brain but I don’t think it made me… non-human?” Revi said while thinking about being crushed and squashed by a dragon and whatever happened after.
First things first, Reveka told Bride what had happened to her and Bride was completely astonished by everything. As far as she knew travelling between the three known worlds was possible but that was believed to be possible because those three were once one and the same as per the story told by the myth of creation. However, the world Reveka came from was a complete different space. Something like that wasn’t heard of before. No wonder it felt weird everywhere around.
With Bride not feeling comfortable, they decided to leave the forest as fast as they could and find a village to gain some sort of information on the current situation. The sword too wasn’t exactly familiar with this country so she couldn’t help much. Along the way Reveka tried to explain as better as possible what had happened but to do that she had to understand it first which until now had let to nowhere.
At some point they both abandoned those thoughts for a while. It was pointless to think if it wasn’t going to get them anywhere.
According to Bride, Reveka had ‘foreign existence’ written in her face but it was apparently getting adapted quite fast and after a while it would become hard to tell she was different. That was a good thing because in some fantasy novels the bad guys happened to be some experimenting maniacs who liked dissecting rare things… and rare people.
Yep, it was the bad side of reading one too many fictions, that if you happened to find yourself in such situations you wouldn’t know what to expect first or what to expect at all. It was also the downside of lacking information, so the sooner she got into contact with others, the sooner she could know a little about what would happen and give her brain some ‘food’ to work on.
----------------
A little later in some parts of the world.
…
In the greatest academy of magic in the world two old men were talking with each other. Both had serious expressions on their faces.
“What was that, this feeling?”
“A crack! That’s what it was.”
***
The Great Hall of the Azerian Church.
“A hole in the dimensional wall?!”
“Yes, Father. It was reported that a crack had appeared in the dimensional wall and some of the believers in the nearby area are trying to get a closer look. However the reports say that the concentration of magic around has grown dramatically and normal people can’t even get near.”
***
The demons and their conversations.
“What’s all the fuss about?” asked a woman’s voice though quite indifferently.
“Hmm…something about the dimensional wall?”
“Yeah. The other guys are getting so worked up about a crack or something that has appeared on it.”
The ones to answer were two lazy sounding voices but there happened to be one interested person.
“Where?”
“In some forest in Degrife… I didn’t bother to hear all the information.”
“Degrife? Isn’t that the direction where you threw Bride, Voran?”
“Could it be your doing, the crack?”
“No, I only put enough magic power to keep that thing flying for some days, weeks at most.”
“Right, right. Even you don’t have enough power to make holes in the Wall.”
“Hmph!”
***
At this time many people got the information about the dimensional crack and few others felt it, however most of the world, the normal people, the weak, those with low perception didn’t know a thing and kept with their lives as if nothing had happened.

Trickster's Tale (Book 1): Is That A Lute In Your Pocket will release on Kindle Unlimited on the 10th of May.Due to KU's exclusivity rules, I've had to take most of book 1 down.Book 1 Bard's Ballad takes place in the same extended Universe as my other story, The Houndsman. It's set on a distant 'disk', though. As a result, the magic system is unique in comparison and has a harder LitRPG system. While the story utilises stats, it doesn't take them seriously and occasionally makes fun of regular LitRPG mechanics.
