《Transmigrated Into a Blind Woman’s Body》Chapter 48

“Thank you, friend.” Lin Ning went ahead and hugged the wolf, feeling the fur against her skin as she cried. “I’ll be sure to take good care of you from now on.” The wolf whined, seeing Lin Ning soak her blindfold as she licked her master’s cheek.
“Young miss, the wolf still needs a name.” Hun Cuifen decided to remind Lin Ning to give the wolf a name and forget about the tragic past.
“Your name will be Mei Mei.” Smiling at the wolf, she did not seem to dislike it. “Has Mei Mei eaten yet?” She was asking Hun Cuifen.
“En, Mei Mei has eaten, but not too much. I believe that she was waiting for you.” Hun Cuifen had tried to get Mei Mei to eat, but she refused to eat most of the time there.
“Mei Mei, you need to eat. You need to take care of yourself when I am not around.” Petting Mei Mei’s soft head, she then got up. “Let’s go and find some food for her.” Lin Ning faced Hun Cuifen, hoping to get some food for Mei Mei. The three of them walked out of the tent with the wolf going forth on its three legs. Remaining close to Lin Ning, many soldiers eyed the two women with a wolf.
“Oh, where are you bunch headed?” Hearing Xu Meili, Lin Ning turned to face her.
“Xu Meil-”
“Sister Meili is fine. I see that you have a wolf.” Looking down to see the wolf with three legs and a single eye, she looked back to Xu Meili and growled.
“Mei Mei, be nice.” Lin Ning could hear the wolf growling. “You can call me Sister Ning then.” Facing Xu Meili, she smiled. “I was going to feed Mei Mei since she has been eating very little.” Petting Mei Mei’s head, she could feel the soft ears.

“Well, food has been a bit scarce, so we’ve been trying to save food.” Xu Meili had been looking over all the food and supplies that they had which she had taken notice of the scarce food.
“Hmm, we may have to wait to feed you, Mei Mei.” Lin Ning was hoping to find some food for Mei Mei, but if there wasn't enough food, they needed to be careful with how much they ate.
“Well, we can try and hunt a few animals around and feed her that way.” Xia Ling came up to see that her young miss and the wolf were awake.
“That sounds like a good idea. We’ll do that.” Lin Ning did not know how to hunt, but she would have to put effort into it. “What do you recommend for us to be able to hunt during this time?” Asking Xia Ling, she did not know how to start with hunting.
“We can set up a few small traps and see what we get from there.” Xia Ling suggested for them all to try.
“Why don’t we start now?!” Xu Meili decided to join in, making them all start with setting up the little traps and going to a more quiet and secluded place in the forest near the camping ground. Mei Mei followed Lin Ning all around, keeping an eye on the others who were mainly setting the traps. Lin Ning was left with connecting the ropes to a few other small items everywhere. Hearing Mei Mei’s footsteps, she opened her eyes behind the blindfold. Seeing Mei Mei go over somewhere, she then saw her color change to yellow with the sense of being cautious. Seeing the color then quickly moved over to something that was glowing purple. Hearing Mei Mei whine after, it was clear that she had failed to hunt whatever that was.

Mei Mei had tried to hunt down a rabbit close by, failing to do so. She stumbled, falling over to the side as she shook her fur. “Mei Mei.” Hearing her master call her, she walked back over to Lin Ning. Whining, she failed to hunt her food. “You do not need to rush into anything. We can help you get some food for now, and when you are ready, then we can slowly help you learn to hunt differently.”
Mei Mei whined once more, looking at Lin Ning with her single eye. “You both seem to have a solid relationship.” Xu Meili looked at the wolf and then Lin Ning with a smile on her face. “I’m surprised that this wolf decided to follow you.”
“En, it was surprising for me too, but I could not ignore her. She was injured and had no one else by her side.” Lin Ning petted Mei Mei’s head once more.
Xia Ling and Hun Cuifen set other traps that were a bit further away from Lin Ning and Xu Meili. “I’ll be honest with you. I was a bit suspicious about you when I heard that you knew about Cao Peizhi’s injury.”
Lin Ning knew that it would be suspicious since Cao Peizhi’s injury was supposed to be a secret that no one else was supposed to know about. “Well, I worry about him a lot. My heart feels unsettled when he is gone.” Lin Ning placed her hand at her heart, feeling her heart pacing with worry once more.
“You love Cao Peizhi, don’t you?” Xu Meili then said.
Hearing those words, Lin Ning felt her mind running with what Cao Peizhi said before. ‘Is this really… love?’ She thought. “I… I don’t know.” Lin Ning told Xu Meili truthfully. “I feel lost sometimes. I’ve thought about it, but… who would want to be with a blind woman?” Lin Ning had to think about reality. She knew full well that no man would want to stay with a woman like herself forever.
Xu Meili looked to Lin Ning, who made her think about Cao Peizhi, who had the same thoughts and feelings. ‘These two really do not know a single thing about each other, or… they might both be blind when it comes to love.’ Xu Meili could not help but giggle when she heard that.
Lin Ning was confused once she heard Xu Meili giggling on the side. “Did I say something funny?” Feeling confused about why Xu Meili was laughing at this conversation.

NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY: The Adventures of The Creeping Bam (BOOK ONE: The Job)
TAO is a broken world held together with nothing but magic and the will of the gods who protect it and its people. Then thousand years ago THE SUNDERING struck and Tao was almost torn apart by a terrible magical cataclysm which resulted in the planet almost being halted in its journey through the cosmos. It took all the power the gods of Tao could muster to restore its orbit and set it turning again, but in their efforts it was forever changed – its axis was drastically altered, and it now spins in such a way that one face of the world is forever turned from the sun it orbits, leaving half the planet in perpetual darkness. The various humanoid races that survived and now thrive within the habitable parts of THE DAY LANDS have come to live in perpetual fear of what lives beyond THE BORDERLANDS that separate them from whatever dwells within THE NIGHT LANDS, but for ten millennia it has kept its secrets. The land of RUNDAO languishes under the rule of their warlike Northern neighbours, the TEKTEHRAN EMPIRE, while a small, ragtag band of motley adventurers ply their mercenary trade fighting monsters and protecting the common man from the various dangers that haunt the night and prowl the hinterlands on the edges of civilization. THE CREEPING BAM have amassed a modest reputation in their years together, but they’re still just a small-time party of sellswords, thieves, outcasts and mages. They’re also exactly the kind of underdogs the people of Tao doesn’t yet realise are needed to save the world from the encroaching darkness they doesn’t even know is coming … This is a love letter and homage to the high-fantasy worlds of the tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Warhammer and the sword & sorcery cinema and literature I fell in love with as a kid growing up in the 80s, from Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (and the awesome Schwarzenegger movie, STILL my favourite fantasy film EVER), The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and Ron Howard and George Lucas’ Willow, to the more grown-up and edgy worlds of grimdark masters George RR Martin and (my all-time favourite) Joe Abercrombie, as well as a BIG DOLLOP of Terry Pratchett’s immortal Discworld series. IMPORTANT: This story contains material which some readers may consider to be mature, such as battle violence, some strong language and occasional mild sexual scenes. If this is not your kind of thing, this story is not for you. I am also serializing this story on Tumblr, Wattpad, Quotev and Sweek.
