“Well, who else could it be? Lin Ning may have more people that hate her than we think.” Xu Meili pointed out the obvious thing.

Sighing, Lin Ning felt her head starting to sting at this moment. Holding her head, she tried to ignore the stinging pain while focusing on the conversation happening before her. ‘Not now. Please.’ Trying to keep herself awake to not miss out on any important information.

“I mean… there is still that second prince’s princess consort who is still keeping her eye on the young miss.” Xia Ling knew about the issue regarding Lin Ning with the second prince. “She did encounter the second prince, and the second prince’s princess consort would never forgive anyone who tries to take her man away.”

“Well, he has been distant from Lin Ning for some time, but there could still be some possibilities.” Yi Changpu had been keeping himself updated about his brother which there had been no progress so far about his effort to succeed the throne if something were to happen to Yi Changpu. Yi Qiao (Second Prince) had only remained in the Zhao Palace to discover that his brother was in mourning of Lin Ning, who he assumed was dead when she was not. ‘It would be best to let them keep thinking that she was dead.’ Finalizing the thought, it was the only best idea to keep Lin Ning safe and away from the Zhao Emperor and Empress.

“We will have to be sure to keep an eye on this prince’s princess consort then. Don’t want anything to happ-”

*Thud*

Xu Meili did not even finish her sentence when they all heard a loud thud; everyone turned their attention to see Lin Ning had fallen over. “Ning!!!” Cao Peizhi was the most worried, seeing that she had fallen unconscious at that moment.

”W-Where am I now?” Saying this, she opened her eyes to her surprise. She could see everything. “How am I seeing everything?!?!” Shocked, she then noticed that it was the modern time. Seeing that she was out on the streets, hearing the sirens of ambulances as she turned to take a look at a large crowd that stood around. Walking over, she could see many injured people in a bus that had been hit by more than one car.

“Everyone back away! This is a serious accident! Please remain behind the yellow line!” An officer shouted for the people to keep backing away as news reporters were trying to catch this story.

“What is going on???” She tried to ask the people around as she then tried to tap on a man’s shoulder. Seeing her and going through him, she was scared and jumped back out of shock. Looking to see that she could not talk or touch anyone around. Going up closer to the scene, she then held wide-shot eyes. Seeing her modern world body that was severely injured with deep scratches and bruises all over. Seeing all of this happen, she had hopped into the ambulance that had taken her body to the hospital.

“How is she???” The people around that were trying to stabilize her were doing their best as she watched.

“She is still breathing, but it's too faint.” Another said.

“We have to be able to make it to the hospital.”

Seeing their efforts to try and save her, she watched as her body started to go into shock.

“This is bad!!! We need to stabilize her!” Seeing them try to stabilize her, everything was happening right in front of her as she watched. Hearing beeping, she could see that her heart was giving up on her at the same time. Hearing the long sound soon after that symbolized her heart had stopped beating. She could see the people all then try to use a heart defibrillator. She could only feel tears after that streamed down from her eyes.

“You all tried. Life can be so easily taken away.” She thought. Seeing a new image appear, she looked to see her parents were there as a white sheet was pulled off from her lifeless corpse. Hearing the cries from her mother, she saw her father comforting her mother. “I’m sorry, Mom. I’m sorry, Dad.” She said to them, knowing that they could not hear her at all. Seeing the new image then appears, showing a funeral which was likely hers. Walking around, she could see her parents that were both weeping in sadness. Both were the only ones left at her funeral until she saw a young woman who was her friend.

“If only I did not ask you to come out, then you would not have left this place so soon. I’m such a stupid friend!!! I’m the cause of your death!!!” Seeing the woman sob, she shook her head and went to her.

“Child, do not blame yourself. She would not want to see you this way.” Hearing her mother tell her friend, both of her parents left the room for some fresh air.

“My friend, you did nothing wrong. Let it go. Let that guilty feeling go. I do not wish to see yourself wallow away in such feelings. You have been my friend for the longest time in my life. You never let me down. Not only that, but you always stood by my side. Please be happy for me.” She had gone over to her friend, smiling in front of her as her friend held a shocked face. “Please take care of your parents.” Telling her, she had a smile that wished her friend well.

“I will! Please, please, be happy in your next life. I hope that we can be friends again in the next life that we have together.” Her friend said with tears and hiccups as she said.

“I will. Thank you, best friend.” She said, seeing her hands then start to slowly disperse into nothing. ‘My time must be up.’ Thinking as she closed her eyes to accept wherever she was going now.

Her friend stood there, continuing to cry as she no longer saw the ghostly figure of her best friend. “Child, do not cry anymore. Even if she is gone, she is still in our hearts and memories.” Both of Lin Ning’s modern world parents went back into the room to see that their daughter’s best friend was crying once more as they comforted her.
