“Are you alright?” Going over to him, she knew to give them some distance, but felt a sharp blade that had been pressed against her chest where her heart lay. ‘Ah, so he won’t be easily convinced about me.’

“How did you find me?” He was threatening her, if she were to try anything funny then he would kill her instantly. No one should have known the place that he had hidden at.

“You do not need to worry about anything. I do not know if you are hurt or not. For I am just a blind woman.” Lifting her veil, the man was able to see that she was indeed just a blind woman. “I do not know what you look like, but I sensed your plea for help.” Catching a scent of blood from him, it wasn’t too much blood, but she reached into her right sleeve pocket. “Here.” In her hand was a bottle of pills that would be able to suppress the pain just a bit until he could get someone else to help him. “These pills are not poisonous. It will help your pain be suppressed just a bit. Do not be frightened. This blind woman does not have time to kill people like you.” Lin Ning was going to let the man decide if he wanted to live or not. She was about to leave when he shouted to her.

“Wait!”

Stopping, she had her veil pulled back to hide her face from being seen once more. “Is there something else that you would like to talk about?” Lin Ning did not know if he still needed something else.

“What is your name?” He asked.

Lin Ning knew that she should not be giving them her name so easily, but she felt that they were probably less likely to meet again in the future. “Lin Ning.” She left soon after, knowing that her parents were likely worried sick about her by now.

“Ning’er, where have you been?! You made us worried!” Her mother did not know where she had gone, but they felt that their hearts were about to drop since they did not find their daughter anywhere in sight when they turned around to see her nowhere in sight.

“It’s okay. I wandered just a bit and I managed to still find my way back to you both.” Lin Ning smiled, knowing that her parents would turn the capital upside down to look for her. “Let’s go home now. I'm a little tired.” Lin Ning entered into the carriage with her parents as they lectured her all the way back home about leaving them.

“Master, I apologize for being late.” A man had appeared in front of the injured man who Lin Ning helped. The injured man had long brown hair and green eyes, looking at the bottle that contained the pain relief pills.

“We will talk more later. Help me so that we can get out of here.” The man helped his master up, knowing fully well that his master was being rash not too long ago about their plan. “Find information as well about a woman named Lin Ning.” Telling his comrade to look into the woman who saved him, he felt interested to see what else there was to know about her.

‘What’s with all of these people.’ Lin Ning had noticed that even though she was in the carriage, there were many people who she sensed who had stressed and exhausted among them all. It made her internally exhausted to sense all of their emotions within the air. “Mother, what is going on outside?” Asking her mother, she did not know what else to ask since this was the first time that she had ever sensed so many at once. ‘Is this what the last owner of this body felt?’ Thinking that the lady who had this body before probably committed suicide since it was unbearable.

“Don’t worry, Ning’er. This is not something that you should put your mind onto.” Her mother did not want her daughter to know about the look of the capital, many had just gotten out from the war when there was news about one of the Duke’s sons becoming crippled from such war.

“Mother, please give all of those who are beggars some silver. Do not let them suffer. They are in a more dire situation than me.” Lin Ning knew that there would be people suffering from the war which made it hard for them all to make a living anywhere else. “Please, Father. Don’t let those people suffer.”

Hearing the plea of their only child, both knew that they could not ignore her when she cared about the people who had to suffer in the war. Her father had his men give some silvers to the beggars who all felt grateful towards the viscount and his family. Going on their way back, they reached their home as Lin Ning was taken to rest for the night. She had walked the corridors of her home many times, seeing that it was all the same way and same path, but it still amazed her to see that she managed to find that man. She stopped, turning to face the window that showed the flower petals falling down with the moon being the only light.

“My lady, are you feeling alright?” Hearing her maid, Lin Ning smiled, wishing to go out for a little.

“Lian, let me go outside for a bit.” Lin Ning’s maid simply just agreed, going out as she could feel the breeze of the wind that pushed towards her. ‘This is my new life. God, why have you brought me here?’ Lin Ning looked up to the sky, seeing nothing in hew view. She could sense the life of fireflies all around that flew from the grass to her. ‘I hope that I can truly find my happiness here.’ Smiling, she did not wish for anything else but to always have happiness in her life.

The day of Empress Dowager’s birthday had come, Lin Ning had been dressed in a purple hanfu which her parents were positive that it was a perfect match for her. Hearing the sounds of other carriages nearby, Lin Ning could not wear any veiled hat this time as she only had her blindfold on. Taking a step out, she had her father and mother help her walk out as she could sense that the people were looking at her with words being spoken at that moment. She had caught all of their attention by her cripple sense that was not given to her since birth.
