《Maxing Out From the Start!》Chapter 7 - The Two Elves

Where am I? Oh, don't tell me... Did I die again?!
I'm currently afloat in pitch black dead space, similar to where I met that voice. Worried that I died again, I search through my brain to see if I can remember what happened. After a moment of thinking, everything comes back to me.
Ah, that's right... I used the Revival skill, which took a billion intellect away from me. So it's no wonder why I'm in this situation...
Typically, skills shouldn't take the majority of your intellect pool unless you don't have much intellect. I have lots of intellect, so I shouldn't need to worry about this; however, Revival uses a billion intellect to work, which is more than half of what I have. Losing that much instantly will definitely damage my body.
Until my body gets used to the low intellect, I won't move within my body. But, wait, since I can think, does that mean I'm already back? If so, I need to force myself awake... Ha, easier said than done.
Without much of a choice, I attempt to force myself awake and open my eyes. After struggling for a minute, I finally succeed and slowly open my eyes; however, I instantly close them after being blinded by the sunlight. Then, slowly adjusting to the light, I reopen my eyes and see a beautiful angel in front of me. She quietly stares at me with her glistening red eyes, and starts smiling; however, once she notices that I'm awake, her face flushes, and she quickly backs away. As she does, my head falls and hits something hard. Did she give me a lap pillow?
"Uh... Umm..."
Unable to speak, the angel mumbles words while she looks away. In her place, another beautiful girl appears in front of me and starts speaking intelligent words.
"Ah, it seems our Savior has awoken."
I stare at the girl for a moment in confusion. Then, I suddenly remember who they were... They are the elves I saved! Ah, it seems they have removed their face masks which reveal their beautiful faces. I guess that's why I couldn't tell who they were... With their mask off, I can really see their facial details and personalities. The armored girl gives me a smirk while the other is shyly taking peaks at me every now and then.
Anyway, I attempt to get up; however, my body isn't used to the low amounts of intellect. Not wanting to waste time, I force myself to get up by mustering all of the strength I have left. After a couple of attempts, I successfully get up off the ground. Once I do, I find that both of the girls are bowing towards me.
"Again, Savior, I would like to thank you for everything you have done for us! Without you showing up, we would have been killed by those wolves..."
"Ah, it was nothing... I was glad that I could help..."
I haven't spoken to anyone the same as me or similar in age since coming to this world, so I fumble my words a bit. But, luckily, it seems like they don't mind. Actually, the cloaked girl seems to be more flushed than she was earlier... Also, it seems these two aren't weirded out by my hair and eyes. Well, maybe did such things while I was blacked out...
Ignoring her sister, the armored girl changes the subject.
"Anyhow, how about we introduce each other? I'm Enomoto Junko, and this is my younger sister Enomoto Miyu. It's a pleasure to meet you, Savior."

"Likewise..." (Miyu)
"Yeah, nice to meet the both of you. My name is Nii Sho. Rather than calling me Savior, please call me Sho."
"Alright, Sho-sama..."
"Eh, you can drop the -sama... Just call me Sho. Anyway, why were the two of you all the way out here in the forest?"
"Well... We were on a special quest. I don't know if you know, but there has been a rise of monsters lately. Not only that, but normal monsters seem to be getting stronger too. We were tasked with searching for clues within this forest. We did find something; however, before we were able to get all of the answers, those wolves appeared and attacked us."
"I see... Wait, a quest? No offense, but why would the guild send you two? I mean, that quest sounds very difficult, so I imagine it would require A-rank or higher adventures."
"No offense taken; however, I said this was a special quest. Umm, I think we can tell you... The guild did not commission us. This quest was given to us by our mother. You see, she is a member of the TEN and has been tasked with searching for clues about these monsters. She has her own investigation going on, but she wanted our help. Well, to be more precise, she wants to use Miyu..."
"... Does that mean she has..."
"Yes. She has a unique skill that seems very useful for this operation. It's like an upgraded version of the skill Analysis and can be used to find things that are unordinary or out of place. She can see things others can't... I'm here as her bodyguard as she isn't good at fighting. You might not believe it, but I am capable and strong. I can even defeat B-rank or A-rank monsters!"
Positioning herself a little more, she puffs out her chest and gives a small smirk. Ignoring her, I start thinking to myself about the situation.
The Ten, huh... I know they are the strongest individuals globally, but why would they leave these two to their own devices for such an important and difficult quest? If Miyu's skill was really amazing or important, wouldn't they have sent along with some real bodyguards? Maybe they trust Junko's skill, but... Hmm, maybe they're something else to this.
I continue to ponder in silence. It takes her a moment, but once Junko realizes I'm ignoring her, she changes her moods and the subject.
"Ahem, anyway, those monsters were something else... I have fought Triwolves in the past, but they were never this hard. I mean, they are B-rank monsters, but I couldn't even make a dent into one of them..."
"Hmm?"
Ah, now that she mentions it, I thought they looked familiar. Those monsters were in a Monster Com that I've read before. That book contains most of the monsters of this world and their rank. The guild, an organization that gives quests out to adventurers and buys materials from them, has a ranking system for monsters.
There are three ranking systems: Normal, Rare, and Deadly. The normal ranking includes F to A (F, E, D, C, B, A) and is meant for daily adventurers. The rare ranking is for high-level adventurers and includes S to SSS (S, SS, SSS). Lastly, the deadly ranking is for monsters that are so powerful that they could cause massive damage to the world. These include EX-small, EX-medium, EX-large, and EX-world. These also have other names that can be used: Killers, Land Bombs, Kingdoms Eliminators, and World Destroyers. These types are monsters are extremely rare but have been seen within the world before. The last time one was seen was twenty years ago. Then TEN had to work together to kill the monster... Luckily they succeeded; however, one city did get removed off of the map.

Anyway, Triwolves are B-ranked monsters and are wolves with three heads. They can use fire and acid magic; however, their aptitude for both magic is very low. They are typically in a group lead by the evolved version, Commanding Triwolves. Commanding Triwolves are similar to other Triwolves but are better at magic and slightly stronger physically-wise.
If Junko was telling the truth about her strength, she should be able to deal with them; however, she wasn't... So either she was lying, or the excess EXP my father was talking about has created those wolves. But that doesn't make sense... Why would there be excess EXP out here? There would have to be someone in the family... Ah! That's it! There must be a family member nearby who has been giving their EXP to the next generations. That has to be it...
"I see... If you couldn't defeat them, maybe they have been empowered by something, making them S-rank or higher..."
Junko stares at me questionably. Then, she speaks with a weary voice.
"Yeah... I think that's happening too. If I had to guess, those wolves were upgraded to S-ranked or SS-ranked monsters. I didn't expect to run into one during this quest, but I guess that only reassures our theories... Anyway, I have a question for you. Why are you out here?"
"Haha, it's a rather funny story... You might not believe it, but I got launched way out here and ended lost. I was about to find a way home when I noticed you two in danger."
"You don't say... Do you need help? We could provide..."
"No, it's okay. I know a way back home, so I should be fine. How about you two? Should I escort you two?"
"Haha, no, we should be alright too. Although, I imagine that Miyu wouldn't mind for you accompanying us."
After speaking, Junko starts staring at Miyu, who seems to be in her own little world, blushes wildly. After a moment of watching, Miyu notices and shakes her fully flushed head. Junko laughs and then faces me.
"Alright, we should probably get going. Oh, and for thanks for saving us, take this money."
Junko hands me a small bag of money. I take a peek inside the bag and sees two gold coins. Money is the same in all of the kingdoms. It uses copper, silver, gold, and platinum coins. One silver coin is twenty-five copper coins. One gold coin is twenty-five silver coins. One platinum coin is twenty-five gold coins. There are also Royal coins which are fifty platinum coins.
Most stalls will sell their food items for one to three copper coins, while inns require twenty coppers coins to five or so silver coins. Most items can be bought with copper and silver coins. Other items, such as buying a house or super good armor, require gold coins. Platinum coins are used for big transactions. Typically only Nobles use these. Royal coins are used by the Royals and are for trading with other kings and similar things.
With two gold coins, I'll be able to stay at a typical inn for about fifty days. Although I think this is too much, I accept it since I know their personality.
"Thank you, I gladly accept. I hope to see you both in the future. Have a nice rest of your night."
"Yeah, see you."
"Bye..."
After saying goodbyes, we parted ways. I turn around and start activating my teleportation skill.
"Teleportation!"
With that, I teleport to the house; however, after teleporting there, I find myself in a sea of destruction.
"Oops... I forgot how I got into the forest in the first place."
I sighed and began cleaning the mess up that I made.
...
Enomoto Junko's Point of View -
After saying our goodbyes, Miyu and I departed with Sho. As we start walking in the opposite direction, I start wondering if Sho will be able to find his way home. Although he says that he can, he's walking further into the forest instead of leaving it. This is one of the largest forests in the entire world. There are acres and acres of forest in the direction he's going. It would take days and days before he'll make it to the other side. Maybe he knows a secret pathway or trail?
I continue to question the possibilities of where he's going as we walk. Then, suddenly, instantly breaking my thoughts, we hear Sho shout something.
"Teleportation!"
I quickly turn around once I heard the chant; however, he has already disappeared. I stare at the spot where he was a few moments ago while losing myself in deep thought.
I see so that's it! I knew that there was a trick, but if we add that to his arsenal, how much of a God is he?! I mean, he can teleport, heal, repair, and revive someone from the dead. All of these skills have to be high leveled too, since he can do them all instantly. He is most definitely not a human but a God of some type...
Also, it seems that he knew something about the EXP problem. Could he be related to it? I wonder...
After this, we continued on our way. During the entire trip, I continued to question the man name Nii Sho...
...
After saying goodbye to one another, Miyu and I parted ways with Sho. We started walking in the opposite direction of Sho. While doing so, I started thinking if Sho actually does have a way home since he's walking further into the forest. This is one of the largest forests in the world. It would take him days to get through the other side. Maybe there's a secret path that he knows of?
I continue to question the existence of Sho as we walk out of the forest; however, after taking a couple of steps, we hear Sho say shout something.
"Teleportation!"
I quickly turn my head over as soon as I heard it. Of course! He's already on a level with a God, so of course, he would have the Teleportation skill.
That skill is rare and requires space magic to unlock. I know some people who have this skill; however, it requires lots of EXP. The people I know are a bit old and got the skill by training their space magic for many years. I have my doubts that Sho did the same type of training... Plus, how in the world does he has that skill plus all of the others!? Teleportation, Revival, Healing... Just these three skills would be impossible to have together. Maybe at all level 1, he did everything instantly, which means those skills have to be high level.
"What in the world are you, Nii Sho..."

At The Precipice
Defenseless. Scared. Alone. That describes the life of Brock Carter as of late. Following his ‘death’ at the hands of a vicious magpie, Brock is rescued by the machinations of the newly instated, all-powerful System and thrust knee-deep into a brutal world catered only to the strong. Fluctuating between two states of being and trapped within a city ravaged by time, he is told to either seek out the mysterious ‘Source’, or die trying. He just hopes he can do it without scuffing his expensive suit in the process. ***** Honestly, I've just always wanted to write a story. I had a crack at it a few years back, but the entire thing fell apart before it even began. At The Precipice was originally written as a way for me to destress and play with System elements and characters, but eventually I decided that if I was gonna write, why not post it too? Writing's just a hobby of mine, so don't expect this to be at published novel level, I guess, or even anything of relative polish. Updates every Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs-Fri Average chapter length is 2000 - 3000 words ***** What to expect: - A semi-comedic/light tone, mixed in with a gritty world and brutal survival (not ever grimdark though) - An MC that thinks about what he's going to do and why he'll do it, even if his internal logic is lacking. Is a rather rational person, not often influenced by his emotions, but can be in extreme situations. - A plot heavily focused upon the MC, but one that will branch off to envelope the other characters in the world at times. Often, it's just other people's perspectives of him. - A story of power growth. While the MC is certainly going to be powerful, even over 100 chapters in from what I've written, he still isn't the strongest being on Earth, let alone the entire Multiverse. - Lots of gore, vivid fight descriptions, and often times deaths of people, some even somewhat important to the story ***** Things this story will never have: - Harems - An edgy, villainous MC - An MC that does jackshit about things for 'plot reasons'

She leans towards rationality and uses this to control her demonic impulses to the best of her abilities. She begins the story as a somewhat capable protagonist, but grows in power steadily through hard work and diligence. Fights: ...I like fight scenes. They’re going to be detailed, but I won’t drown you in description of individual hand movements or footwork. I like fights that can be solved like puzzles by the audience, where creative thinking wins the day using tools you know the protagonist has at their disposal.
