《Ruthless Reincarnator》Immortality

I grinned while also interrupting Irs’s endless deduction.
-“You are right. But you are wrong at the same time.”
Irs’s face became a little pale. Ichia’s bright light was now pale as well.
-“I am indeed the one chosen by Tiphoon. And the Seed is indeed what must be nourished. And one isn’t might or weak on my eyes because of their Yin or their Yang, their purity or whatever. All are dogs under my gaze, because none of you have nourished your Seed to the point of evolving into the Ultimate Being!”
Irs didn’t dare to say anything else. Ichia would probably have fainted at this point, if Immortals could faint.
-“But do not think you will have my power, or that Tiphoon was the one who give me my Seed. I am the one who gave all of you my seed, because Tiphoon asked me to do it. I am the Source. I am the father of all of you. And all of you are my children, and me myself as well.”
Irs started to cry.
It’s easy to imagine why. He had guessed it right.
- “However, how high have you reached on the path of cultivating the Seed, to be able to know what one need to do at the end of the journey? Having so little essence, you shouldn’t have been able to do it. Losing magic power to the Seed should weaken your Essence and you should have vanished.”
Irs clenched his fists, grabbing earth and dust under his fingers.
It was at that time that Icha first spoke.
- “I did it. Father asked me to do it, for all of us to do it. Brothers and sisters couldn’t believe father, but I remained at fathers’ side.”
- “Well, that just saved your life right now. Do you understand what it means to become a True Immortal?”

- “….”
Ichia didn’t want to answer.
- “Do you, or do you not?”
- “I do.”
- “Then you know it is impossible by now.”
- “Yes.”
- “And you know your father has no chance of achieving this. He will die before doing it. And even if he didn’t, you and him will eventually be separated forever.”
- “….yes.”
- “And you know you will eventually die and remain dead until Tiphoon has an use for you, unable to retain your memories even if you are Complete - because “you” must become the “immortal you” before, and this won’t happen before the Fourth Differentiation comes. You will be a shadowy copy of me until them, and even with a Complete Seed it will not matter - you will lose all of your memories on the day of transitioning from Complete to Individual.”
- “Ichia!”
Irs seemed to not be aware of this part.

Vast Asleep
The story of Kingard the Binder in the aftermath of Broken This short story is the epilogue of Broken, the second book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. It’s a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers but is set apart from the full-length narrative. Vast Asleep follows the story of Kingard, who finds himself caught in a world called Mother's realm, bathed in glowing light but strangely stuck in place. He encounters his greatson Varyan there, and learns that his experiences are likely dreams. As he grows more accustomed to the loving realm around him, Kingard remembers fear and trepidation about the face of the world, and he loses contact with his companion. This story answers the question, Is Kingard really dead? with a tentative no, and new mysteries brewing. It also raises the question, What's happening while he's awake? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Ride Awake, about Kingard's situation with the Colkh'rak. Praise for Tales of the Known World Bookends: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between the epilogue and prologue is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well. -- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★
