《Reaper's Game》Chapter 17: Teleportation!!!

While Caroline was looting my body I went around to check around the building, when I passed by the room with the blasted open door Ran was complaining to Rin about Caroline.
"She better share properly, that would have been ours if she hadn't interfered." Ran's face was puffed up in anger, "And why did you even stop me? We could have been free by now."
Rin was shaking a bit while answering in her quiet voice, "It's not right to kill people for our own freedom, he never did anything to us and he seemed like a nice person."
"So did the master's son, it's the law of the world eat or be eaten." Well I guess Ran will have an unpleasant surprise later, I feel bad about it but I can't just impulsively buy things never mind people.
I can kind of tell by your expression and steadfast attempt at ignoring it but are you not curious about the sounds originating from the next room?
"I thought I was doing a pretty good job of a deep thinking face, do you have a heartbeat monitor or something." tch of course Karen had to point it out. It seems like whatever aphrodisiac and drugs were laced into the air of Medline's room was stupidly over potent.
No, but you have this certain change to your eye and manner when you think of perverted things. And to begin with souls don't have heartbeats.
"It was a rhetorical question Kare-" The door that I last visited was kicked open loudly as Caroline exited in a rage stopping at the top of the staircase ignoring Ran who was chasing after her.
"Clean up in my room," The guard started walking up the stairs his face in a knowing smile.
"Guess he was a miss? And the boss was so sure."
Ran grabbed onto Caroline's shoulders, "What do you mean he was a miss? You didn't just take all of it did you?"
Caroline threw the bag she was holding at Ran, "All coppers, barely a silver in total there. Aren't you glad you weren't the one to land the killing blow?"
"Well go let the boss know, I'll clean up." Grunting at Caroline the guard headed to where my body was.
What now? You can take out the guard easily if you revive before he gets there.
"Let's follow Caroline for now," Although I won't know where my body is that shouldn't be much of a problem, they'll probably dump it in some alley or something.
Paperwork had stacked up for Dooza while he was having fun with Milly; it seems several slaves have been privately bought during that time by some VIPs and he had to deal with the ordering of the show now.
As he stamped and signed papers someone knocked at his door, "Who is it?" he shouted while taking a sip of alcohol from an ornate glass cup.
"It's me," opening the door a former noble with her supposed secret parts exposed walked in.
"He dead? How much did he have?" That man had come out of the adventurers guild with a big bag of coins, and from the way people were looking at him it must have been a surprisingly big amount.
Throwing the same bag that had hung from that man's belt onto his table she stated coldly, "107 copper coins, you misjudged badly this time."
His beady eyes bulged out to what would be a normal eye size, "There's no way I would misjudge, you didn't take any did you?" his voice held a dangerous tone to it.

"And what good will taking any of it do me? I was supposed to get freed if it covers my price."
"Bah, did he switch it out before coming here? But I didn't see anything, maybe his companions?" Dooza startled grumbling to himself as knocking once again came from his door. "Who is it this time?"
"Boss. the raid is going smoothly right now." Another one of his typical henchman walked in, "Bob thinks that it won't take long to nab to vampire."
Caroline looked from the thug to Dooza, "that's why you wanted us to kill him so badly, to get rid of the master/slave status. Even if something went wrong it'll be the work of a rebelling slave, it wouldn't even matter if we said you ordered it."
"Doesn't matter it's none of your business Caroline Verosa, get out. And you,"Dooza turned to the thug, "Learn to keep your mouth shut until we're in private, what would you do if someone heard it?"
Before the thug could respond a thin hand gentle nudged him to the side revealing a beauty with long blonde hair framing a gentle face in a lacy pink dress, "Don't worry Mister Verholn I've already heard it all, there won't be need for any further private conversations for a while" Behind her came several soldiers in blue armor trimmed with gold.
"Pri-Princess Shea wha-what are you doing here?" Dooza was trembling and Caroline can't help but smile a bit.
"Through investigations we have found some rather dubious and villainous deeds that you have been involved in." She paused as a knight in a more elaborate armor brought in a wooden box filled with various letters and documents, all bearing Dooza's signature and seal. "And some rather shady deals you have taken a part of or initiated."
"Th-The Baron won't stand for this outrage!!! Those are fake and you know it!!" The Princess smiled a little at that as the knight stepped in.
"The Baro- Former baron is awaiting you at your new home, it seems like the two of you were quite good friends from what the letters have revealed. I'm sure the two of you will continue to get along nicely in there."
Dooza's face drained of blood as he started pleading, bribing, threatening even while he was being taken away in cuffs. The knight sighed, walked towards him and proceeded to punch him in the face with a fully armored fist effectively silencing him.
"As for you," The Princess looked away from the mess that was the slave trader to his thug, "You will be escorted away to be present at the trial for a testimony, after that you will be released."
"And... what of me?" Caroline who had recomposed herself after seeing Dooza get what he deserved spoke up, she had after all killed a man.
"Same as him, you'll be kept for the testimony and after that released." The knight explained matter-of-factly to a dumbstruck Caroline.
"You did not explain the rest Tryn," Princess Shea turned to Caroline, "All the slaves you included will be offered a job at within the royal grounds, accepting or declining will not affect your treatment. Also regardless of your reply to our offer everyone will be given two gold as compensation. Of course however criminals will be re-trialed instead."
"I thought the rumors about the royal family were just court rumors from hateful nobles. You're making a lot of enemies with this and it's costing you quite a bit." From what she remembers of the conversations the daughters of other nobles were having the royal family wasn't very well liked, among commoners however especially those close to the royal lands they were loved.

The Princess laughed a bit, it was a soft pleasant sound, "I can live with a smaller wardrobe or less jewelry." She then turned to Tryn, the conversation with Caroline concluded, "Did you get the name of the place they were raiding?"
"Yes, the Dancing Bear Inn. It seems a commotion was recently started there... It involved the Vampire Hunters." The Princess bit her lip thinking before turning back to Tryn.
"Can I please ask that you take care of it?" She had a worried look on her face, rather than concern for Tryn however it was for the people. The hunters were infamous for their brutality and collateral damage.
"Of course," Tryn turned to the soldier behind him, "I leave the Princess's care in your hands Aeran." As he left collecting some soldiers on his way out, there was a floating soul in a panic above the Princess and it was not from the height advantage he had on the Princess's chest.
For a block now the streets and windows had been empty and silent, running alone Jane was nearing the inn with daggers drawn. In front of it there was several bodies, some precisely and cleanly cut others an unrecognizable mess. Guarding the entrance were two thugs, easily dispatched by a cut to the neck without them noticing anything but wind flying past them.
"This body is ridiculous," Her recreated body had all the power of her previous one with none of the negatives plus a huge boost in physical strength. As she was heading up the stairs a silver blur caused her to jump backwards leaving a huge dent in the wooden steps caused by her sudden change in direction.
"That's not good, and here I was aiming for a spotless kill." A white hooded man from the sound of his voice showed up at the top of the stairs, crossbow pointed at her. "You are abnormally fast though, are you a vampire?"
"Sorry to disappoint," Jane dashed straight at him daggers held in front, "But I'm not one." Blocking a bolt with her left dagger her right dagger flashed up in a vicious arc.
Kent moved his sword swiftly to block and the sound of steel on steel rang out for a millisecond, before it changed to the sound of steel being cut. Jane's dagger with the aid of her vastly superior strength cut straight through Kent's sword taking off his left arm along with what remained of the sword. Following up quickly her left hand shoved the other dagger into his throat before he could scream, gurgling sounds were heard as his body fell to the ground.
"This body... seriously," Jane sighed and continued towards Mary's designated room.
All across Mary's burnt arms were countless cuts each oozing out blood slowly her limbs pinned to the wall with silver bolts.
Ginger was smothering herself with Mary's blood while deciding which of the wicked blades spread out across the floor to use next.
"You... are... one... crazy girl." Mary breathed out through pained gasps.
"And your blood is wonderful, so beautiful and delicious." Ginger picked up a knife whose blade spiraled inwards as it extended out like a drills. "Let's try this next, don't worry you aren't going to die from it. Like my other blades this is covered in a drug to slow down blood flow." She showed a creepy smile.
"That... Now that is just wrong." Jane who had just entered the room was fighting her stomach, one hand on the door frame. Despite being in a similar state before Jane had no actual fascination with being covered in blood, it was just something that happened.
"Are you to join us as well? Maybe I'll hang you off of the ceiling. Oh what happened to Kent? Since you're here he's probably dead and covered in blood right? I would love to have seen the look on his face when he saw his clothes covered in red." Ginger throughout all the insane talking has been fiddling with her blades, settling on a pair of straight swords with small blade points every which way along it she took up a stance waiting for Jane to move first.
Like before Jane once again rushed forward at a superhuman speed while Ginger just laughed maniacally. Right before Jane reached Ginger she slipped a bit on the plentiful amount of blood seeping from bodies everywhere, taking advantage of that opening Ginger swung both swords one from each side.
Bringing up her daggers while upside down Jane managed to parry the swords, then twisting her body deflected them away from her and out of Ginger's grasp. Flipping back to her feet on top of a dead thug she thrust her left hand dagger to catch Ginger in the chest only the scrape metal as Ginger kicked backwards a few feet.
"My you're fast. I hope you won't die as fast later when I cut you up." Ginger pulled out two jagged cleavers, one of which had a nick in the middle of the blade.
"How many weapons do you have?" From their positions Ginger was right next to the window while Jane was beside the bed, if she wanted to escape it wouldn't be too hard.
"Lot's, I love them, not as much as blood though." Laughing Ginger threw the cleavers and rushed in towards Jane hands reaching in to her sleeves.
Dodging one of them and deflecting the other Jane likewise charged headfirst at Ginger, the two colliding with their bodies. Sweeping her left leg Ginger attempted to destabilize Jane and drew three scalpel like blades with each hand, but Jane wasn't there anymore.
"Too slow." Twisting her head around Ginger caught sight of feline eye's as her neck was severed, distorted laughing was the last sound she made.
"Well... That was entertaining," looking up Jane saw that Mary has been covered in blood from the recent beheading of Ginger.
"Where's Liliana?" The blood that fell on Jane were already sliding off her black leather armor before puddling at her feet. Wrenching the bolts from Mary's limbs Jane put an arm underneath her as support.
"Taken by her brother, presumably to their headquarters," Mary's expression went dark, "If only I was a normal vampire."
A clatter of metal boots alerted Jane to incoming company, changing the grasp on Mary to a princess carry she leapt out the window and ran into the nearest alley. "We need to tell Shin. He's probably got something we could use in his bag of cheats."
Well that was amusing.
"Not for me, and definitely not them." After getting into a panic about the information I overheard from Dooza I started searching for my body. Suddenly appearing in the middle of the place naked isn't the most inconspicuous way to make an exit, never mind that I was supposed to be dead. But who would have thought that Caroline and the Princess with her guards would find my body first. In the rush I was to get back to the inn i recklessly revived then and there causing quite a panic. Using an impromptu smoke bomb with dust and wind via magic I managed to get away but I hope they didn't get to see my face that much, explaining it all would be next to impossible without telling the truth.
Turn left here and then take the first alley to your right.
Following Karen's instructions to get to the inn the quickest sent me colliding with some people, covering me with something sticky and wet.
"That really hurts you know," eh? this voice?
"Mary?" Yup it was Mary, looking bloody and burnt but alive and Jane looking well normal? Can souls even look tired? Wait Jane is carrying Mary in a princess carry? "Where's Liliana?"
"About that..." Jane started but then looked towards Mary.
"Well her brother knocked her out and went through a portal, that's all I know," Mary shrugged, "I didn't even know there were anyone that could summon portals outside the mage council."
"So, we were looking for you hoping you have something in that bag of cheats that could save the day." Jane finished explaining. Well that would be why they were here and not at the inn but.
"Umm... I don't have any teleportation or locating magic," well I might be able to considering the skill system I have but I've never tried before, "Hey, don't look at me like that. I'm not god I can't do everything."
Let's see, teleportation magic requires a detailed description of the place you want to teleport to as well as a mental image.
"Thanks Karen, Ok that basically makes things impossible." Damnit, think think think. Location magic? But that won't let me see the area. "Karen, can I use scrying or clairvoyance?"
No information on either of those.
"Why is there on teleportation and not that?"
How would I know? I know basically as much as you do.
"Ok, sorry. Come one think think." Can I use the bond? No it's too vague, I know she's north of here but that's most the continent. Something I can picture... "Hey Karen... can it be an object?"
... Yes it can but it has to unique, and you won't know where exactly on the object you'll appear, you could end up stuck in the table underneath the object if it was on the table, or falling off a cliff if it's near one.
"Well... It's unique as far as I know unless there are clones. And well since I only know one side I don't think that'll be a problem." Ugh, this isn't going to end well.
Jane looked at me with a suspicious gaze, "Wait, you aren't thinking of teleporting directly to her are you?"
Why are you going so far for her, she isn't related to the objective nor are in a relationship. There is a high chance of failure you know, you might end up completely dead.
I looked at Jane a wry smile on my lips, "Maybe. And Karen, no party member of mine is going to die if I can help it, especially not a girl." Ok lets just concentrate now, Aagh stop thinking about how wrong this is going to be. Ok, gather magic power. Picture the feeling on my back, the image. How nice it fel- wait not that. The clothes she was wearing, sound, smell. Release
We had some people over so it took a bit longer than I thought it would, apparently it was decided after I went to bed last night. Originally this was to be the end of what would be this "arc" but I feel like this is a good place to cut off for a chapter so anotha chapter came into existence. If nothing unexpected happens there'll be a chapter for sure tomorrow.
