《This Game We Call Life》Chapter 94

Chapter 94
The floor one hundred boss was actually several hundred apparently weak creatures singing like a choir together. When the noticed us the song seemed to shift and the professional divers immediately scattered, so we did the same. It turned out the change in the song was actually an aria for a simple fireball spell, which when combined several hundred times resulted in a massive explosion.
“I can see how this would be a pain in the ass to kill” Jack
“Yeah, hold on a moment, and ready some explosives.” Thomas
Doing as asked I ready a couple. After some sort of queue happens, or at least I believe it did as I didn’t notice anything different, Thomas gestures for me to hand him a couple of the explosives. He threw them pretty well, injuring almost all of the singers at once and outright killing a handful. The rest however quickly healed back up to perfect condition with a change of the song.
At that point Riki basically shouted at us to fill our ears with wax. And we did without a moment to spare as the choir started screeching at us, from that point on in the fight we had to rely solely on telepathy for communication, though i was still the chosen intermediary.
‘We need to take them out one at a time with massive hits or try to damage all of the at once in a hope to whittle down their mana to make them easier to kill. Either way the longer it goes the easier it gets for us. Any of you specialize in assassinations?’ Grat
‘I do’ Jack
‘Great, they won’t react much to your presence so no need to sneak up on them. Though once you start killing them they may start targeting you with spells. We will try to draw their fire and damage them as much as we can so you can work. Unless your companions also specialize in assassinations or know some large AOE spells they had better stay out of this one.’ Grat

‘No they don’t’ Jack
‘Then get to work’ Grat
Almost as soon as we finished talking the Choir finished an aria for a lighting spell, this one much more powerful than the fireball from earlier. Instead of dodging it, Thomas used a combination of magic and his tower shield to block it, effectively neutralizing it.
I stopped wasting time and ran up to the nearest singer with a blade drawn. It cut through their flesh rather easily, even the bone was cut though like warm lard, but it healed faster than i could cut normally. The most disconcerting part however was that it didn’t flinch, it didn’t even seem to acknowledge my existence. It took me a little while but i eventually managed to kill it by pushing my speed as high as i could with magic so that my damage would outpace it’s healing.
The for the second one i tried cutting the limbs off, but they reattached too quickly. I had to remove the severed limbs from the body in order actually remove them. It took me a couple tries but i eventually pulled it off with both legs, causing it to fall over. From there i stomped the head into a paste, effectively killing it.
That was when i got hit by a lightning bolt. It wasn’t a direct hit however, as Thomas hand managed to imperfectly block it. Overall it didn’t do much damage, but it was shocking, pun intended. It really showed how much weaker this boss was than us, we just really aren’t optimized for it. Any powerful AOE abilities would be really effective here, they aren’t very durable so a single powerful enough spell could wipe all of them out, but they heal incredibly well. Which means we have to do this the long boring way.

After about a dozen of them, I figured out a pretty quick way to kill them, which in hindsight was pretty obvious. They obviously need their head to live, but if it is just removed they will either grow a new body or reattach it. So what i ended up doing was cutting off the head and stomping it a couple times.
After about fifty of them I was wishing I learned how to use warhammers, I just didn’t have the right body type for it apparently, so my trainers had me focus on lighter weapons.
Eventually i felt the necks become pretty strong, making it more difficult to cut through with my sword. Probably a way to make novices stay creative. It wasn’t so bad that i couldn’t cut through it, i just needed to use a little extra force.
I inevitably got bored of the monotony, slicing off the head, stomping the head, occasionally having a spell thrown at me that is more surprising than anything else, so my gaze started to wonder. Grat and Thomas seemed to be double teaming small groups at a time, doing slightly better than me, while Riki was using some AOE spells and was ahead of the rest of us in terms of kills, though not by much as the spell she is using seems to have a high cast time.
At this point, we were about a third of the way done. The healing started to slow down, allowing Grat and Thomas to kill them faster, and the spells got weaker, though it was hardly noticeable.
The rest of the fight went over much the same way. The dropped item was actually pretty cool, and according to Riki, one of the rarer drops
Necklace of clear voice improves various aspects of your voice causes your voice to have a minor charm effect durability 6/6 This necklace is dropped by The One Of Many Voices
In the village at the base of this mountain, it would go for about four hundred Jaers, but it could go for in the thousands if you managed to find the right buyer.
There was no victory celebration, why would there be. Yeah, it was pretty tedious, but it was hardly difficult. After a short meeting, we decided to push for floor one fifty before stopping for the night.

The Legend of Fanaura: Cursed
'Hey, need some help there?' An unfamiliar voice echoed through her mind, and she startled, losing her grip on the red phial. It rolled through the grass, away from her. "Oh shoot!" she yelped, and her focus diverted from her opponent for a split second, but it was enough to prove fatal. The beast took advantage of her distraction and lunged towards her. She tried to back away, but in her haste, she stumbled and fell. She looked at the beast, inches away from her, and shut her eyes in fear. She raised her arms to cover her head, even if she knew it was futile. Yet seconds passed, and no pain came. Then she heard the beast let out a pained yelp. She opened her eyes to the familiar sounds of battle before her. A tall man stood before her, locked in battle with the beast. He wielded a sword as long as his height, yet it didn't seem to hinder him in the slightest. She watched in awe as he swung the obviously heavy sword around as if it were light as a feather. His movements were swift and precise, and it didn't take long before the beast fell to the ground, motionless. “You alright there, miss?” The man sheathed his sword across his back, before turning to her. Her eyes widened when she heard his voice. It was the same voice who had that had spoken into her mind and the cause of her almost-fatal distraction. "You...!" she hissed.***She was the chosen one to end the war between the Goddesses when they were supposed to take care of the world balance.
