chapter 62
I woke up on the floor, much more comfortable than the stiff old straw beds they have here, and head downstairs, where a male bartender greets me
"did you enjoy your night sir?"
"no, not particularly" jack
"oh, why not? any suggestions for improvement?"
"why do you want to know? it's not like anything will change." jack
"because the old man died recently and I just took over, trying to make the place better."
"start with getting actual mattresses, futons if you want. next flood your cellar with mana, it'll help the alcohol become richer. now goodbye, and best of luck." jack
"thank you"
and I start the wild goose chase of finding a ride of this damned continent again. I search for four hours with the same response.
"I'll not have any demons on my ship now scram scum."
I spent an additional hour dodging members of the church, while my existence here is allowed, I don't legally exist in this area. what that means is the church is free to do whatever they want to me with absolutely no legal retaliation, as well as any other assholes who feel like hurting me. of course the same doesn't apply to me, any minor offence will result in the death penalty, as I am not legally alive to begin with, and the church is in charge of the government here.
eventually, I managed to find a lead, telling me to go some dark building in a back alley and ask for mr. krawfish. the building turns out to be a black market, I had, at least, three people try to kidnap me and one try to mug me. after asking around, I finally found mr. krawfish, a gangly looking male human with lightly tanned skin.

"I heard you could get me a ride to the alfalm continent." jack
"I can. I can. now why would a young demon want to go there? I should ask." mr. krawfish
"for a job, how soon can you leave" jack
"payment. payment is required." mr. krawfish
"how much?" jack
"100 jaers" mr. krawfish
mr krawfish breaks into a huge grin when I hand him the money, almost like a child reciveing candy.
"I should thank the young demon." mr. krawfish
"can you answer my earlier question? when will we leave?" jack
"patience, patience" mr. krawfish
"we're leaving in about three minutes" deckhand
"three minutes? we're nowhere near the shore." jack
"through the sky, shall we sail. no ship for me, no no no." mr. krawfish
"I'm having a hard time beliveing he is the captain." jack
after three minutes I am flying through the sky on a hot air balloon with a rather large basket, enough to fit 60 humans with ease. I meditate for 3 days, gaining a total of 6 stat points in everything like before, only to be woken by the roar of a high ranking draconic, some form of wyvern it looks like.
"the end, it's the end for me." mr krawfish
I just transform into my shadow form and rush out to meet the assailant, who reaches out to me telepathically.
'i didn't expect to find a demon on this human sky ship, I hope your strong, I'm itching to test my claws' wyvern
'i'll fight you, but if I win you have to carry me to the alfalm continent. what happens if I lose is up to you.' jack
'you already have a ride, don't you?' wyvern
'it's slow' jack
without responding the wyvern attacks. I condense my body to a more suitable form for fighting and retaliate with a chokehold that sends him diving into the water, it doesn't affect me much as I have an incorporeal body right now. several minutes of thrashing about under the water ends abruptly.

'i conceed, I'll take you to a port on the alfalm continent' wyvern
'great' jack.
end chapter 62
I would like to pretend 2 things never happened. 1: only creatures that have seen gods have the skill evolution. 2: people on the church controlled continents are almost completely ignorant of magic. the reason I would like to pretend these things never happened is because I can't come up with a logical reason as to why. for the part about evolution, there wouldn't be much difference as the gods are really active, so most creatures would have seen a god at least once in their life. also don't forget to rate and review.
