《Transient Fire Works》Chapter 26: Nerfed?

I didn’t know what Lucian poured down my throat, but it tasted disgusting. Not to mention the bad taste, my body began to hurt a bit and it wasn’t even due to the backhand slap.
Just then, Ban appeared in front of me stand still wearing his panda suit that covered his entire body. Even though the suit masks his face, his body expression could easily tell you that he was tired.
“Ban? What are you doing here?” I ask him.
Ban didn’t say anything. His body slumped down to the ground and he started to roll around.
‘??? What is he doing?’ I was slightly confused at what Ban was doing in front of me. Surely he didn’t show up just to roll around now.
Only about half an hour later did Ban stop rolling around and finally spoke.
“Sorry. Was enjoying the moment” Ban said to me. “I only came here to tell you one thing Jin.”
“Hm? And what is that Ban?”
“We gave you a heavenly potion that slows down your qi training” He told me.
I rubbed the side of my head and thought, ‘…. Are you nuts? I only have 2 years and 11 months and yet you are trying to slow me down? Is there a real reason to do all this? I might as well stay a virgin! That or do a lot of good deeds…’
“Why yes we do Jin.” Ban said out of the blue. “You know I can read your thoughts if you say them out too loud right?’
“Ngggggh…. Can you stop the mind reading Ban?” I wanted to cry because I don’t even have privacy in my own thoughts.
“Mmmm Nope. Too tiring to put effort into not listening to your thoughts Jin. After all, we are you as you know” Ban points out.
“*Sigh* Please just tell me the reason Ban…”
“Simple. You told Lucian that your qi training sped up your memory recovery so we decided to slow it down. If we slow down your qi training, we slow down your memory recovery right?” Ban was being plain about things with the logic they had.
Hearing this, I could feel the blood draining away from my face. “… I just shot myself in the foot didn’t I?”
Ban looked at Jin and could hear the inner wailing of Jin’s soul. ‘Did we do something wrong?’
But it wasn’t their fault. It was Jin’s fault for lying to Lucian. He shouldn’t have told them half the truth. He should’ve told them that the souls were the ones that made Jin remember his old memories while he was doing qi training not the qi energy’s fault for making him remember.
Back in Jin’s mind…..
Lucian and the others went to place more seals around Jin’s original powers and memories. Based on guesses alone, they thought that the qi Jin gathered was either trying to break the chains and seals they placed on him or the qi were resonating with each other and was trying to pull the other one out.
But when the three got there, the seals and chains were all fine. There were no signs of resonance either.
‘… Assimilator? Why does everything look perfectly fine?’ Lucian asked.
‘Uh… No clue.’ The Assimilator scratches his head
Ren frowned at the perfectly fine seals. “If qi training was the cause of Jin’s recalling, then would there be signs… you know?”
Even the Assimilator had no words to say about it. Everything looked so fine that it looks wrong. The heavenly seals on the inside restricted Jin’s original powers and the demonic seals on the outside would bring back the leaked qi into the inner heavenly seals. It was a perfect cycle of imprisonment that there was no possible way for the qi to get out.
The Assimilator thought and thought about it over and over. How was it possible for Jin to remember if his old qi has yet to be disturbed? There were no signs of any flaws. ‘Hold on… What about…’
The Assimilator flew all the way to check up on the other seals within Jin’s body. The seals of the Red Ruler, the Cyan Conqueror, and the other eight. But there were no abnormalities either. Only Cyan’s seal was a little cracked but looked like it was slightly repaired and was only leaking out a little qi. But it was not enough to affect anything. ‘Strange… if his old qi and their qi exists within Jin…. Eleven different qi should’ve caused a resonance that could’ve invoked Jin’s old qi. But…. They exists in harmony as if nothing is going to happen…’
The Assimilator couldn’t make any sense of things. In fact, nothing made sense. He didn’t even know how it was possible that Jin was able to remember if the lines of reasons didn’t connect. The Assimilator felt like he was being toyed with the more he think about it. He really just want to rip out his hair in frustration.
‘Hey Assimilator’ A voice suddenly calls out to him.
The Assimilator looked to see who was calling him and it was a small demonic looking blue sea serpent. The small demonic blue sea serpent had three horns protruding out of its head and spikes growing out of the middle of its spine. The fins of the small sea serpent had a transparent look and releases small amounts of cold energies every time they flap.
‘? Cyan? Is that you?’ The Assimilator’s face twisted into a look of confusion with his head tilted. ‘Why are you…’
‘Mhm. Well, this is my avatar. I don’t come out often so I have to send an avatar every once in a while.’ The small demonic blue sea serpent said. It then transform into a small humanoid form. ‘What is troubling you?’
‘Uh… Well… Thing is…’ The Assimilator started to tell Cyan of his problems. ‘And that is the story Cyan. I just don’t know how it was possible for him to remember’
Cyan was listening intently through the entire story and smiled once the Assimilator reached the ending. ‘Ha ha ha ha ha! Seems like you only have half the truth Assimilator. But you also might wanna fix your mistake’ Cyan laughed loudly.
‘Eh… Huh? What was that supposed to mean?’ the Assimilator looked dumbfounded.
‘What I mean is, indeed he got his memories during qi training, but the qi was not the real reason why he remembers.’ Cyan teased the Assimilator. Cyan knew what type of person the Assimilator was and frustration was one of the many things the Assimilator hated.
The Assimilator’s face‘… You know I hate being messed with so can you please just tell me already?’
‘Hmmm… I think you either need to help Jin condition his body first or else his blood vessels will pop and this entire future would be screwed. Then I will tell you’ Cyan playfully said.

The Assimilator had a blank look on his face. He didn’t know what was going on. ‘What did he mean by blood vessels popping and future screwed?’ The Assimilator asked himself.
“*ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAR* An ear splitting roar rang out from inside Jin’s body. His old qi rumbled and blasted out great shockwaves and shook the space itself.
‘…. Wait… Oh sheeeeeeeeeeeeit!!!!!!’ The Assimilator finally realized what Cyan meant. If the qi wasn’t really the problem and Jin’s qi was being condensed at the moment, then that means Jin would need to do meditation to help condensing the qi at this very moment. If something goes wrong, his entire meridians would be blasted to bits. At worst, Jin would die. ‘Oh damn. The heavenly potion… It awakened the qi!’
The Assimilator ran back as fast as he could to call the other two.
Cyan was just laughing in the back ground. ‘Oh man… They should’ve waited until he was at the fiftieth stage to give him that potion… Now… Ah ha! But there is a way to reverse it… Thankfully, they got the ingredients. ^.^. I just hope nothing goes wrong’ Cyan thought to himself before going back into his own seal.
Back on the outside world where Jin and Ban is….
Jin’s body suddenly spasmed. He fell down to the ground holding his entire body and screamed out in pain. It was a good thing that the domain still existed even after Lucian went back because Lucian forgot to retract it. If the domain didn’t exist everyone would run to find out who was screaming. Soon enough, Jin passed out but his body still convulsed.
Ban had a worried look because he didn’t know what was wrong. Jin’s body was suddenly in pain out and Ban didn’t know why.
‘Ban! Hurry up and help Jin condense his qi! Also help circulate his qi! Give some qi if needed!’ The Assimilator screamed as he quickly appeared with Ren and Lucian in both hands.
‘Huh!? Uh…. Okay…’ Ban was baffled as to why the Assimilator suddenly said for him to help Jin condense his qi. But Ban soon found out the reason why. Jin’s body started to suck the qi around the area at a lighting speed.
Ban, Ren and Lucian quickly placed their hands on Jin’s back to help absorb and condense the qi.
‘Oh sh*t! Jin’s body is actually digesting the potion made from heavenly ingredients that fast?’ The Assimilator cried. ‘No choice then!’
The Assimilator placed his hand on Jin’s dantian. ‘Guys! Help me circulate the qi once it is fully condensed!’
The other three didn’t even need to respond back. They knew what they were about to do and was already half way through the process.
But when the Assimilator placed his hand on Jin’s dantian, he found that the medicine really didn’t slow down Jin’s qi circulation. Instead, it sped it up as if the dantian was the stomach and alive. Furthermore, the dantian was acting up like it was alive. The dantian was just absorbing the positive effects of the potion and neutralizing the negative effects.
‘!!! The hell?’ The Assimilator was just admiring Jin’s ability to absorb the medicine. Even he, The Assimilator, needed more time to absorb such medicines with strong effects and to neutralize the negative effects. ‘But this is no time to admire him…’
Hours flew by….
3:00 pm….
It took them a while before they got the qi to fully condense and to circulate it. But when they were finished, they were shocked to see the result.
‘!!! This is-‘ All four had their jaws dropped.
“Ugh… My head… My body… Why they hurt so much today?” Jin’s vision, still hazy, got up. “Hmmm......? Why is it so breezy? Did someone open the window?”
“Jin’s body had shrunk?” Lucian didn’t know what to say.
“*Tch* Nope… He reversed aged…. Eight years…” The Assimilator clicked his tongue.
“… I thought you gave him a potion to help slow down his cultivation. Not his growth as a person…” Ban felt strange seeing Jin so young.
Ren glanced sideways and had a tired look on his face. “Assimilator… Was this one of your mistakes?”
“Nope. But It seems like Jin’s cultivation level went back to normal level and the medicine had absolutely no effects what so ever beside turning him young. Huh… interesting…” The Assimilator stroked his chin.
Though I hear four voices, I couldn’t tell who the last one was. ‘Assimilator? Is he also one of my past lives as well?’
My eyes were kinda blurry and I couldn’t see well because it felt like I just woke up from a nightmare.
My body feels heavy, I feel a lot shorter, and I think I heard my voice being a little high pitched. “Lucian? Who is Assimilator?”
“Uh… No one!” Lucian denied as he whispers, “Go on. Get out and we’ll fix this later.”
When I could finally see better, there were three large recognizable figures in front of me. “Lucian? Ban? Ren? Why are you all so big? Did you eat something to grow taller? Or did you feed me some weird drug like crack?”
“Uh…. Yes! That’s right! I gave you… Crack 3.0 in liquid form!” Lucian exclaims.
I look down at my body to see that I was stark naked. But moreover, It seemed like I was a lot smaller. “… Lucian….”
“Huh? What is it Jin?” Lucian began to sweat.
I touched all over my body to check whether or not I was dreaming or high. “Why… am I… so small?”
“Alright Jin. To put it plain and simple. We gave- *MMuuppphhh*” Ren was about to speak when Ban muffled him.
“We gave you magical crack 3.0! It turns you back a few years younger!” Ban said aloud.
‘!!! Ban! What are you doing!?’ Ren was angry because he was being muffled. Lucian went over to Ren and gave a blow to his stomach and knocked him out.
“Yep! Ha ha! One of my pranks actually. Have fun being a kid for the day!” Lucian laughed and brought the other two away with the snap of a finger and disappeared.
‘!!! LUUUUUUUUUUUUUCIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIANNNNNNN!!!!’ I roared out. But they already got away. I ran to the bathroom to confirm their words and they were right. I turned back a few years of age and looked ten! Now, I wished that it really was just a nightmare.
Just then, I heard the door being opened. The bathroom door being opened not the front door. Meracle went into the bathroom and found me naked as a child. 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' I screamed inside my heart. It was the biggest embarrassing moment of my life.

Fragments from the Wildlands
“Your first death is always the hardest.” Miguela was the third-born child of a well-off merchant family and knew from around the time she could speak that her life’s path was already decided. She was to become an Orator, as was Xandran tradition. However, Miguela had an affinity with the magikal arts and somehow found herself studying at the Academy. She did just enough to keep up with her studies but never found the motivation to apply herself and “reach her potential,” as her instructors often said. It was not that Miguela was uninterested in the arts. Rather, she knew her time at the Academy ultimately did not matter. Whenever Miguela returned home, she would become an Orator, and that would be that. Or so she believed until, one day, an opportunity appeared that would change her life. Miguela was offered the chance to join a research team tasked with a mission of the utmost importance to the future of the Five Kingdoms. She could not turn down the prospect of regaining control of her life and finally finding a purpose for herself. Of course, Miguela might soon discover that offers that appear too good to be true are usually fraught with lies. Welcome to Five Kingdoms of Cordizal! Question: What is the Five Kingdoms of Cordizal? I often get asked this type of question about my stories by friends, bloggers, and potential readers. The Five Kingdoms of Cordizal is a high-fantasy epic universe that is the setting for most of my stories. The foundation of the universe is its multicultural, multiracial setting with several sentient races attempting to carve their legacy and survive. The world is fully fleshed out and vibrant with a rich and mysterious history not based on Tolkien mythology. This brings me to magic. To me, magic is an essential part of the fantasy genre, so, of course, there is magic in the Five Kingdoms universe. However, one critical part of the Five Kingdoms universe is that magic is an abundant commodity that is a part of everyday life and not some plot device used to drive the story. In short, the Five Kingdoms universe is the setting of epic fantasy stories with deep characters and world-building. I try to tell as many different types of stories as possible in the universe, and hopefully, you can find something for you in it.

Entangled Fates Book 1 - Quantum Beginnings

The book is now availble on Amazon (includes extra chapters): https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B07W1534R8 Artificial intelligence was nearly mankind’s last invention. Still grappling with the repercussions of his injuries, and threats from a dangerous anti-augmentation political movement, there are no easy answers and threats loom around every corner. Alex must use whatever resources he can to escape from under the thumb of a ruthless corporation, while keeping those he comes to love safe. Chapters will stay up on RRL until Aug 10. It'll go up on Kindle Unlimited after that. How do you get those extra chapters I didn't have planned for RR? If you want them, they'll be in the published book. Book 2 will still make sense without them - I made sure of that. But... isn't $3 a lot for extra chapters? Think of it as tipping me for a good job and you'd also be getting my eternal thanks. If you enjoyed it so much that the idea of missing out a few chapters haunts you, I did my job as an author and made an engaging story. What's in those extra chapters? Resolving a few issues, set up for the cybernetic revolution, a rather intense sex scene with a new partner, revelations of who's really pulling strings, and a bit of set up for book 2. Complaints that people missed out on it when it was published here won't help (sorry!). I posted this for the folks who helped me shape the book, which is you all! (Again, yay!) But... Why! Why not keep it all on RR forever? My editor likes being paid for one. For two, I'd like the ability to get broader readership. If I break even on editor costs, I'll be incredibly happy. What about book 2? Drafts for Book 2 will go up around Sept 10. My draft of Book 2 is done, and it will be handed to the editor once Book 1 is published. Feedback has been even more positive. Beta readers devoured it and wanted more. I'll add a link to Book 2 once it's up on RR. I'm more or less, using you all for Beta Readers, so you get it before it's "canon" and edited. I invite active and meaningful feedback during this process. In return, you get early access to chapters. That does mean that the book content or plot might be adjusted before it gets published as I refine it. Sex Y/N? Yes. I heard the feedback, 90% wanted it explicit. You all will get the "full" experience. Will I dump all of book 2 here? Honestly, I'm not sure yet. At a minimum, it'll be up to the 75% mark as we collect feedback, much like what I did with book 1. It really depends on how good the feedback is and how nice people are. Lots of support + meaningful feedback to make it better = higher likelihood you get all the book. Will be it up here indefinitely? No, it'll probably go up on KU at some point, but I'll make sure there's enough time for a large readership to grab it here. Then we move to book 3 which already is around 60K words already. What about other adventures in the same universe/characters? Yep. Absolutely. Nothing ready to share yet though. I plan to keep those side chapters and more slice of life stories as RR exclusive. Since I'm carving this off in book-sized segments, I'll have to figure out where those disconnected story arcs belong. I'm open to suggestions.
