《I Live a Funny Life》Prologue: Nothing bad can ever happen...

You know, I always have this dream of studying in Japan. Why Japan you might ask? Ever since I was a kid, I always watch anime every time I have nothing to do. I have been doing that for 6 to 7 years I guess.
As I grew up, I took interest in their language, their culture, not that I know much about their culture, but I want to learn though, part of the reason why I want to study there. And what better year to start other than high school right?
When youth reached its peak. Everyone around me always said that, three years of high school is the best three years of your life, so don’t waste it.
My parents are both successful, and I’m an only child so I always got what I wanted. As soon as I finished Middle school, I went to learn Japanese for a year, until eventually I went to Japan, waiting for my high school year to start.
My Dad enrolled me to a regular high school, not private though, I don’t know why. Not that I actually mind. But my Dad said it’s a good school, and he also rented me an apartment room.
Yeah, I have to live by myself. Well I’m growing up, might as well start trying now.
Today is the last day of March, school starts tomorrow. I have everything ready. My bag, my book, pencil case, almost everything I need. Not that I actually know what I need for school, but I’ll work it out somehow.
I talk to myself in front of a mirror, practicing my Japanese once more, making sure that I can at least say Hello, Thank you, and Excuse me. But I learn for a year, I am fine with conversation. I can read pretty well too. I guess, my enthusiasm makes me quite a quick learner.
I go to sleep. Because tomorrow, my life as a high school student, begins.
I stand by the gate, the writing on the school gate says welcome to Summer’s Hope high school. Students are walking through the gate, everyone but those in their junior year talks to each other, probably talking about what did they do in their vacation. It’s vague, but I can hear someone actually says that he’s looking for a girlfriend for the entire vacation. Talk about being desperate.
As I enter the school ground, I can see some student wearing some kind of badge, it looks like they are some kind of Student council, because they are scolding those who does not wear the appropriate attire, or if their uniform are messy, their hairs are too long, and so on. Strict, is the only thing that comes to my mind.
As we walk further, a teacher told us that those in Junior years walk a different path than the others, maybe the Junior years have their own entrance or something. Guess I’ll find out.
I walk past a wide door, before me is some kind of shoe locker. I watch as some of the students takes off their shoe and opens their locker to get another pair of shoe.
So do I change my shoe here? How do I even find which one is my locker?
I look at one of the locker and realize there is number on it.
If my mind can produce a sound right now it would be a loud click.
“It must be that key the teacher gave me..”
I said that in English though, it’s still a habit of mine to talk in English every time I discover something new, and sometimes when I’m alone.

I quickly search for my number, after a while of looking like a weirdo because I actually examine each locker from left to right, I found mine at the upper right corner of the right side locker.
Number 23.
I quickly open it, and there it is. My plain white shoe. Weird sense of fashion is what I can say. Well if the school wants me to wear this, I have no right to refuse. I actually could refuse, if I want to get a trouble on my first day here. But not by a long shot.
Then I search for my classroom, if I remember correctly. It should be 1-A.
“Damn, it’s right by the entrance.”
It’s actually right there, just a few meters from the shoe locker. Disappointing really. I was hoping I could walk further to see at least a little bit more about this corridor.
“Well, no use in standing here I guess.”
As I walk into the classroom, I open the closed door. It takes more force to open it than I originally thought. The sound it made, brrrtt, sounds like someone is grinding the floor with a rusted knife. Shocking, sending chills down my spine for a while there.
But what really shocks me is the fact that, everyone is looking at me. Staring at me for a moment. We are all new here right? So why are they staring at me like I stole their lunch when we were a kid?
“Oh right, I’m probably the only foreigner in here.”
Click again, it took me a second to realize I just said that in english.
Fuck.
I said that in my mind of course.
Great, now everyone’s going to keep their distance from me.
It really is awkward, I’m standing there by the door, stared by everyone. The silence can’t get any worse than this. So I just walk inside, looking for an empty chair.
I came too late, most of the chair at the middle row has been taken. There are some empty chair at the front row and the back row.
I know full well I’m not going to take the front row. No one sits at the front row because they want to, except for some few students that actually want to sit there. I respect them, sitting at the front so we don’t have to.
As I walk in, I can hear them talking about me. One sentence that really takes my attention is, What should I do? He’s pretty cute, but my English is bad.
Gods know I’m trying so hard not to laugh, I mean, I shouldn’t laugh, but I just can’t. it’s really hard to be embarrassed and holding not to laugh at the same time.
At least they don’t hate me, I guess.
I take a seat at the back row, near the window. The view is nice, there is a soccer field, baseball field and track field.
If the pool is visible from here, I would go to school with high spirits every day.
Shame.
Not long after that, a teacher walks in. I remember him. I think he’s our homeroom teacher. Everyone sits down on their own chair. Being a new student on their first day, pissing off a teacher is not on their priority list. Not yet, at least.
“Hello everyone, I’m your homeroom teacher, Nakamura Suzuki.”
So that means I should call him Mr. Nakamura. Not Mr. Suzuki.
“welcome to this school. You all work hard to enter this school. Congratulation. Now I know that you are eager to introduce yourself to each other and makes friend as soon as possible. But there is an opening ceremony, in the hall at the western building. Let’s go there so we can finish the formality as soon as possible, all right?”

The students answer in unison, saying yes with such cheerful tone.
Not long after that, the teacher looks at me and realize something. More like, remembered something.
“one more thing, Mr. Reno over there..” he point at me. By the Gods, I thank you for clearing the misconception of me being a foreign exchange student, but can you do it in a more subtle way. One that won’t embarrass me.
“He’s foreign, but his Japanese is very good. He can talk Japanese and read Japanese very clearly. And also, he’s a freshman like the rest of you, not an exchange student. I have the feeling I should clear that out before any misunderstanding happens.”
Well you know what? It already happened. But I’m grateful for that, he looks at me, so I bow down my head a little to show my gratitude.
And I hear something again.
“OMG, so he understands what I said about him earlier?”
Yes I do, clear as the sky. I really want to say that, but something holds me back. I don’t know what. Maybe my pride as a new student in his first day and I also happens to be a foreigner.
With that, everyone stands up and we walk for the hall at the western building.
Thanks to Mr. Nakamura clearing up the misunderstanding, two dudes starts to talk to me. In Japanese, of course.
“Hi, Reno was it? Should we call you Reno or something else?”
“Reno is okay, everyone call me that so I’m used to it already.”
“Okay then, my name is Yoshimoto Miura, and the dude besides you there..”
“My name is Aogahama Ryu. Nice to meet you.”
“Oh right, my name is Reno Mikhael. Nice to meet you too.”
We talk a lot as we make our way to the hall, and I also told them that the Mikhael in my name is spelled Mick-a-el, not your everyday Michael. They looked confuse at first, but they finally got it right, Ryu being the first to nailed it.
After we arrive at the gathering hall, the teacher instructed us to form a line based on our class. My class is 1-A, we got the corner. Near the teacher’s line. Nice.
I stand there with two of my freshly made friend of course. Still talking, more like asking. They really are curious. The most silly question I got so far is
“What is the equivalent of Fuck in Japanese?”
I don’t know if it’s a trap question or a serious one. But shouldn’t it be me that asks such trivial but important question. I just laugh though, saying I don’t know.
The opening ceremony goes by, The Principal speech, student council president speech, first year representative speech.
The first year rep speech is delivered by a girl. A cute one that is, then again, so far, the girls I see are all cute. Weird, but awesome.
Eventually the gathering ends. We go back the same way we came from, returning to our class.
As I sit on my chair, I realize that Ryu and Miura sat near me. Miura in front of me and Ryu besides me. Maybe that’s why they chose to talk to me so early.
Right after the last student came in, Mr. Nakamura walks in.
“I have been informed that there are no class today. As of the schedule, I believe each and every one of you already has one. You are free to do as you like today, you can look around the school and check out every club out there. Some are already open for recruitment, but some are not, so if the club of your choice is not yet recruiting, please be patient and don’t bother the faculty staffs about it.”
That last line was said with a serious tone that I believe if we do exactly that, we are going straight to detention. Luckily I have no intention to find out.
As I stand up, Miura ask me what my plan is for today. I told him I’m just going to look around. I ask him the same question, but Ryu answered instead of Miura.
“he told me to accompany him trying to pick up girls. He’s been like this since middle school.”
“desperate.” I said
“truer words can never be spoken” Ryu said.
I refuse, I told them I’m curious about the school grounds and club and such. They understand, likely because I’m a foreigner.
I’m curious about the girls too. But that can wait.
As I walk around aimlessly, I wonder why those students are in class. Does not look like they’re studying. But in class, each on their own chair. Two students in the front writing names.
“Must be one of those high school democracy.”
“Why are you here? You’re a first year aren’t you?”
That voice took me by surprise, I look around trying to find the source of the voice. It came from behind me.
How the fuck can she get there? I was from there just a second ago? Is this a magical school or something?
And then I realize, there’s a stair just to my side.
Shame.
“I’m sorry, I was just looking around. Mr. Nakamura said we have the rest of the day free, and we can use it to look around the school.”
“ Do you know where you are right now?”
“No..?”
“It’s the second year’s classroom.”
“Damn, how did I get here?”
“Well you said you were lost right?”
What? She can read my mind too?
It’s only then I realize that it was my habit again.
Good job me, good fucking job.
“I’m sorry! I don’t mean to be rude. It’s a habit of mine to speak in English every time I discover something new, or when I suddenly realize something.”
I bow down of course. If memory serves me right, that’s the proper way of saying sorry. The other one being called, seppuku if I’m not mistaken. I might want to check that one out again though.
“it’s okay. You don’t look like a Japanese. Are you an exchange student?”
“I-I’m not. I came from overseas, but I’m just your regular first year student.”
She smiles then laugh a bit.
Goddamn, she’s cute.
Now that it hits me, I don’t know who she is. Her uniform is the same as mine, but the collar has a different color.
“All you need is ask you know. Not stare. Around here, staring is rude.”
Wow, I must have stared at her for a while now. Looking like a complete idiot.
Maybe now I should try one of those seppuku thing. Maybe she’ll forgive me then.
In the mean time, I just bow down while saying sorry.
“it’s okay. I’ll forgive you this time.”
“umm, if it’s not too much trouble. May I ask you who you are? Our uniform’s the same but the collar’s color is different.”
“you don’t know? Blue collar means Second year students. Green is for First year and red is for third years.”
Again, good job me. How can I not know such basic information. What am I doing these past few weeks?
“I-I see, I wasn’t aware. Thanks for the information. My name is Reno Mikhael. A first year student. Please to meet you.”
I’m tempted to explain about how to spell my name, but fuck it. It’s not worth it.
“Michael huh? That’s a nice name.”
Maybe I should have explained.
“umm, it’s not Michael. My name is spelled Mikael.”
“Oh? I’m sorry. I did not know.”
“it’s okay, I don’t actually mind.”
“My name is Manako Sayuri. A second year student, as you may know by now.”
“So, manako-senpai. Why is everyone in class? And why are you outside?”
“They are choosing who will be their class rep.”
I knew it. High school democracy. Maybe our class will do that too someday. I mean, we must have a class rep somehow right?
“as for why I’m outside. I’m a member of the student council. I’m tasked to guide the first year and answered their question if they have one.”
Well I’ll be damned. Meeting a member of student council on my first day. I hope she won’t tell me to join them or something.
“I see, then which way is it to the field? I’m curious about what club that are on activities right now.”
“oh, you just need to follow the path to your left. There’s a sign up there.”
There it is, a big fucking exit. On the wall across the stairs. I want to kill myself right now. Acting like an idiot in front of a beautiful senior on my first day.
Gods are not smiling on me. Bet they are laughing right now.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know there was a sign up there. It’s really easy to miss.”
“I know how that feels. I miss most of the sign on my first day too.”
Thank you. Thank you so much. Now I don’t have to feel so stupid.
“well Manako-senpai. I’ll be going now. Thank you for your help”
“No problem! Come by the Student council sometimes okay?”
I bow down while saying nope at the same time.
That’s a trap. I know it.
I followed the path leading outside. No one is here. Thank you gods.
It would be embarrassing for me to walk through here when it’s filled with seniors.
It Doesn’t take me too long to get to the field area. I check my wristwatch, 9am.
Wow, time seems to go slower here in Japan.
Maybe it’s just me. Jetlag? No way, it’s been days.
I walk down the path on my right, while looking to my left.
Baseball club, soccer club, tennis club, and track club. It’s almost complete. There are also a bunch of curious First years like me. Most of them are girls.
Are they looking to join a club? Or are they looking for a hot senior? A little bit of both probably. But who knows right?
As I look at them playing sports, I ‘m really tempted to just run over there and join them mid game.
Good chances are they will kick me out of the field though.
As I stare into the field, someone bump into me and drops their book.
I look at the culprit, it’s a girl.
Again? Where are the dudes?
“I-I’m sorry!” she said as she picks up her book
Where have I seen this cliché before? The “Sorry I accidentally bump into you let’s be friend and then somehow lovers” cliché. Maybe I’m just over thinking.
“it’s okay. No one is hurt, so don’t worry about it.”
I helped her pick up her books of course. I’m not that big of a douche.
“Are you all right?” I offer my hand so she can stand up. She hesitates somehow.
It’s just a hand. Not like I’m going to push you when you accept it.
“I-I’m fine. Thank you” as she takes my hand.
So light. Why is she so light?
Her collar is green, a junior, like me. That’s a lot of book for a first year though.
“That’s a lot of book for a first year though..”
Did I just..?
“Y-yes, I’m from the library. I saw some interesting books so I decided to borrow it.”
That’s fast. It’s our first day and she’s borrowing books already? One of her books reads, The goal and purpose of researching sociological-
You know what, fuck that.
“that’s a heavy subject for a high school student. Interesting, but heavy.”
“I-I want to study Sociology in college, so I’m preparing for it.”
“Wow, that’s very cool of you to plan your future like that.”
“T-Thank you. That’s the first time I hear someone says that to me.”
“Don’t fall for me now.”
“W-what?”
Oh shit. Is it a good thing or bad thing that she doesn’t know English?
“I was saying, you’re a first year right? My name is Reno Mikhael. A first year like you. From class 1-A.”
“So your name is Mikhael? We are in the same class. My name is Komiya Inori.”
“Oh really? the way you said that makes me think you are interested in figuring out my name.”
“I-I’m sorry, you came in with a grand entrance. Everyone is curious about who you are.”
Grand entrance? Of course, the blasted door.
“ahahaha, everyone will know me eventually. It’s our first day after all.”
“Y-yes. By the way. Were you going somewhere? I don’t want to hold you here too long.”
“I’m not going anywhere though, just looking around. What about you though?”
“I’m trying to go back to class.”
“Oh ok, don’t let me hold you. See you later.”
“Later!”
Was she shouting?
Why would she return to the classroom anyway? There should be no one there.
Or maybe it’s because no one is there that she decides to go there? Did I just met a potential introvert?
As I keep on walking on the path, I arrived at the front entrance. I can see the front gate from here, the student council are still there. Why are they still there? It’s rhetorical, but I’m actually curious. But they are all second year, I’m too embarrassed to ask.
Now that I think about it, I don’t even know where the cafeteria is. I look around looking for a member of the student council. From the entrance, Up ahead is the stairs, there is a bulletin board underneath the stairs. If I’m correct, the corridor to the right leads to some club rooms, and to the left is the faculty office.
Should I go there to ask where the cafeteria is?
I think again. Pretty sure that’s a bad idea. Again, now that I think about it. I’m still wearing my indoor shoes.
Good thing nobody notices. I look like an idiot right now.
I quickly steps inside, and there it is. A student council member. I ask him where the cafeteria is, he points his finger to the direction where the sign “cafeteria” can be seen. He seems to be in a hurry, so we don’t have the time to chat. Shame really, he looks like a good guy. Not laughing despite me asking the obvious.
Well, I’m not particularly hungry. I’m just curious, in case of emergency that is.
Again, I look at my watch, 9:56 am.
How is it still 9:56? I am troubled by something so trivial that I may get a Darwin award for this.
Out of boredom, I walk to where my class is. Just trying to sit down. So I walk to the other corridor, pass through the faculty office, take left and then right. And there it is, my classroom. Safe haven, perhaps.
The door is opened, saves me trouble of making a grand entrance again. Deep down inside, I’m disappointed somehow. But even though the door is open, I am greeted by my classmates gaze once more. Not as many students as this morning, but it still gets me. To my surprise, Miura and Ryu are there. I approach them immediately.
“What happened to the chick hunt?”
“Oh, Reno. He gave up early, there too many cure girls he said.”
“Gave up already? Weren’t you desperate?”
Miura and Ryu laugh. I was asking, but they took it as a joke somehow. Amused by my question, Miura looks at me.
“If you can’t find your opportunity, then someday that opportunity will come to you.” He said, clearly trying to be wise.
“Look at Mr. Wise here, trying to preach another. Even though he’s a failure himself.”
“Hey, why so blunt about it?”
I know they are messing around. But I have this urge to change the subject.
“You two look close. Knew each other for a while?
“Yeah, we’ve known each other since 2nd year of middle school.”
“Man, you should know that Ryu was really quiet back then.”
“Yeah, and you should know he’s more desperate for girlfriend than back then.”
“He has the face of a loner so, I can tell from afar.”
We keep talking for a while, it is interesting talking with these guys. I might just make two friends already on my first day.
Not bad I think.
While we’re talking, I can’t help but look around, trying to find the introvert I met earlier today. What was her name again? Komiya, was it? I can’t see her. Gone to the toilet maybe. Or is it because there are more people here than she imagined so she changes her destination?
“Do you know a girl name Komiya? In this class.”
They look at each other before they look at me again.
“Well well, I didn’t know you are looking for a girl already Reno.” Ryu said
“I thought you said you weren’t interested?” Miura asked
“Well, i met her earlier today, she said she was going to the classroom. But she’s not here. So I’m just curious.”
“I see, that’s disappointing.”Miura said “Well unlucky for you, we don’t know any Komiya.”
“What? Why didn’t you just say so?”
“The look on your face. Should have seen it.” Ryu said
Bastards. I thought they were the good guys..
“I’ll get you back for this.”
They laugh again, for a guy that looks like the quite type, Ryu sure laugh a lot.
“Anyway, do you know when we can go home?”
Again, they laugh.
“Reno, stop bluffing. You have done nothing but making jokes since we first talk.”
No Ryu, maybe you should stop laughing and starts answering me for once.
“I’m serious. What’s so funny?”
It doesn’t help, they laugh even harder than before.
“Do you remember what Mr. Nakamura said?”
Miura asked me instead of answering.
“That we can do what we want for the rest of the day. We can also look around the school. Right?”
“Yeah, and after that he said we can even go home when we feel like it. First years always has it easy on their first day.”
Really? he said that?
“What? He did not say that.”
“Yes he did my friend, yes he did.”
Ryu said while wiping tears off his eyes.
“If we can go home now, why are you still here?”
“Look outside, at the tennis court.” Ryu said
I look outside, at the tennis court. 4 girls are playing tennis. Again, girls. Where are the Dudes? Seriously?
“So?”
“From our point of view, the girl on the right at the bottom side of the court. You see her?”
“Yeah.”
“Our cassanova here, is in love with her since middle school.”
“Really? I thought Miura is the type to mess around.”
“Nope, it’s a serious feeling with her. I don’t know why. I don’t have the guts to ask her out though.”
“But you have the guts to mess around? Coward.”
“Again my friend, truer words can never be spoken.”
Ryu said, amused by my statement. Miura is not offended by it. He just laugh it off.
“Anyway, I’m going to go home now. You guys still gonna be here?”
“Yeah, careful on your way home.” Ryu said
“Careful not to get lost on your way home, boy.” Miura said
“Yeah yeah, later guys.”
I walk outside, but I peek again inside. Miura’s expression changes, seems like they are having a heart to heart conversation right now. Good thing I was going home then.
I Immediately walks outside, headed straight to the front entrance.
“Hey! That male first year over there!.”
I turn around, they are waving at me.
Really?
I Don’t want to make them mad, I small jog to them. 2 girls and 2 guys. Balance security. They are a senior, 2nd year. I keep reminding myself to be polite.
“What is it senpai?”
“Your shoes.”
One sentence, two words, can make me feel like an idiot all over again.
Fuck.
I bow, saying sorry almost automatically. I need to stop doing this. I have enough habit already.
I immediately walk to my locker and change my shoes.
When I walk past the front gate again, they are smiling at me. How nice of them.
I remember that to get to my Apartment, I only need to take a few turns from here. There is nothing for me to do there anyway, perhaps a little detour would be nice. Making sure I know my surrounding is just a normal thing to do.
From the school gate, instead of going right, I decided I should go straight ahead. I can count of how many people looked at me, maybe thinking that I’m a lost cosplayer or something.
Not far from the school gate, there is a small park. Just your average park really, a little track, a sandbox, a slide, A couple of old people here and there, trying to make the park a little lively by their presence, they failed I think. All they do is just sit around at the bench. Not that many kids in the park, I guess school time is not actually over yet.
I keep on walking, looking left and right. Temple over there, houses to the left, houses to the right, houses everywhere. I look behind me, trying to make sure I haven’t wandered too far from the school gate.
“It’s still there.”
Maybe it’s just my imagination, but one of the girl that is standing by the gate, it looks like she was staring at me, or maybe towards my direction. I shake my head, overconfident is bad. So I keep on walking.
As I turn right, I arrive at a convenient store.
“I know this place.”
I look to my upper right, and there it is. My apartment.
“Well I’ll be damned.”
Small world.
I enter the store, greet the clerk behind the counter. He’s a foreigner like me, he’s a college student though, his name is Mike, Mike something, I forgot. He’s from UK, but I don’t buy it. His English accent contains no British accent in any way.
I just walk in, grab a few instant noodle, all this is my lunch and dinner.
“Hey Reno, how’s the first day of school? Meet any girls yet?”
“More than I can imagine, it’s like my dad enrolled me to a girls only school.”
“Well it can’t be that bad right? No homo, but you are quite good looking. I’m sure girls will come after you eventually.”
Thank god for the No homo. I don’t know how I should react if he didn’t say that. It’s not gay if you said no homo.
“Well, thanks I guess. Can’t deny that there are a lot of cute girls in there. I just hope that my charm won’t be the death of me.”
“Amen to that.” He grabs my instant noodles and quickly scans all of them. “That’ll be 600 yen. Are you seriously going to eat this for the rest of the day?”
“Hey, what I eat is my business.”
“Well if you want we can have dinner together tonight.”
“You paying?”
“Bugger off mate.”
I laugh a little, he’s not exactly rich, I know that. Teasing him a little won’t kill anyone.
“No thank you. Maybe next time though, thanks for the offer.”
I gave him the exact amount of money, receive my items and bid my farewell.
There is a vending machine in front of the store, I approach it, carefully examine it, looking for a drink that I might like.
“Sweet iced tea, my favorite.”
I slide in a couple hundred yen, press the button, the holy thing falls down from its position.
“God blessed whoever first created sweet iced tea.”
I accept the god’s blessing in a form of a small box, the sweet liquid inside is sweeter than a girl’s smile.
“Well, maybe.”
I walk away from the vending machine and walk to my apartment, maybe it’s time I go back. My back is sore, too much walking in one day, considering that I did nothing but play video games in my room for the past few weeks.
Not far from the convenient store, I finally arrive at my apartment. Not a grand one, but big enough.
I step inside, I greet the fit looking old man in a security uniform. It makes me doubt sometimes about the security of this building. I walk to the elevator. I don’t like elevator, minor claustrophobic can do things to you. Minor, but It’s still a phobia of closed space.
If not for the fact that my room is 14 floors above the ground, I would gladly take the stairs. But Maybe this way, I can get over my phobia. The elevator doors open, I quickly steps inside. I fell lightheaded not long after the elevator door starts closing.
“Maybe not, maybe not in the near future.”
I grab the handle inside the elevator like It’s a matter of life and death. Is this even minor? The gods have blessed me before by giving me that iced tea, I keep hoping that they would blessed me once more by making this elevator goes faster.
Ting!, I can hear the sound that indicates the elevator have arrived at the 14th floor. Not willing to stay in that devil’s cube any longer, I take a big steps outside.
“That thing’s going to be the death of me.”
Maybe I watched one too many horror movies with elevator death scene in it, maybe that’s why I’m so scared of closed space, and especially elevator.
I head towards my room, it’s not that far from the elevator, maybe 400-500 meters away. Take left after the elevator and boom, room 469. I reach inside my bag, blindly searching for my keys.
“It’s not here..”
It send chills down my spine, I put down my groceries so I can search more thoroughly. It really is not in my bag.
I search my pocket, it’s not there either.
“Fuck my a-“
I turn the knob as I said that, and the door opens.
I keep asking myself how in the world is it unlocked. I quickly get in, preparing to fight some bad dudes that are trying to rob my place. I walk through the door, pick up an umbrella, not my weapon of choice, but if it works, it ain’t stupid.
I turn around to close the door, to make sure he can’t go out easily through here, they either have to fight me, or jump through the window. The latter being impossible to happen, I prepare myself.
I grab the door knob, but my hand touches something.
It’s my key, hanging on the door knob. I left the door unlock this entire time.
“Seriously, fuck my a-“
Then I remembered, if it’s unlock, then someone could probably get in. So I check my room carefully.
Thank the Gods no one is here. That’s a load off my back at least.
After making sure that none of my precious items are missing, I lock the door, and throw myself to bed. Feeling tired, I close my eyes.
“What a way to start my high school life.”
