《Infinity Start》Ch 9: Diedrich and the stats

…
My name is Diedrich Baldwin. I come from a wealthy family and recently purchased the new game, Infinity. I saw the videos and I knew I had to become the best and create the guild to rule over everyone.
So, I contacted my two friends and we began the start of our adventure.
After playing the game, Infinity, for several weeks, we had already established ourselves in the starting city. All the NPCs bow under our strength except for a few others like the king’s guards and the training instructor but majority of the NPCs know about us.
Just recently, the players began to hear rumors and our fame spread. It felt good and people began to worship us. We may be level 14 but none of the players in the starting city had reached level 10 but us? We’re all level 14. The players normally wouldn’t dare do anything to upset us until this one day….
I was walking in the city’s center cobble path and suddenly I saw a new player appear in a bright light. I told my friends to watch this so I can swindle the new player’s starting money. If I started a fight with him, no one would dare go against me and I can get a few coppers from the noob.
I purposely bumped into him and to make him fear me, I glared at him…
“Watch it, noob!”
Haha, my intimidation skill most definitely will come into play. I used it on the city’s NPCs to obtain a cheaper discount but it also can be used against people that are weaker than me!
Suddenly, the noob player responded in a beckoning tone. It was a bit reprimanding but it pissed me off…
“Sorry, I was just watching that fountain. Please can you be mindful of your surroundings and walk appropriately.” - He says
I was a bit irritated that I dismissed my sword and gripped the noob player by the collar to instill fear into him. He was wearing the newbie outfit and didn’t have anything but initial items that you get from the start. Although I gripped his collar, I could not lift the noob into the air. I’m pretty sure I have enough strength to at least make a person budge...but why is his body not moving…
Forget the fact that he isn’t moving, He is a noob. I will kill this fucker as an example!
“Ara! A pesky noob is telling me what to do!? Ah!?”
That oughta scare him. I used intimidation but nothing happened…
The noob glared at me. His eyes were odd as it reflected the image of death and I twitched from fear. Did I just...I FEAR THIS GUY…
The noob spoke…
“Please release me or I will do something that YOU will regret”
Those words resounded in my ears and I felt intimidated from this level one noob...ME! THE GREAT SWORDSMAN! DIEDRICH IS SCARED OF THIS GUY!?
I shouted while using my intimidation skill repeatedly upon the noob player to draw more people in. I quickly equip the iron broadsword and I was about to engage in a duel but suddenly…
The noob player clutched my entire face.
“AAHHHH!!!”
I screamed in anger and struggled to move but my entire body was being lifted by the noob player. My face was being gripped by the noob’s hand, slowly deforming my face.
My health points were dropping fast as I continue to scream loud and more people came. My face was drawing blood and I was about to pass out until the noob tossed me into the arms of my two friends, Alvin and Edward.

My body was tense and I was sweating profusely. I immediately logged out and shivered from the experience…
A noob player couldn’t have done that...what the hell was that person…

Well, these stats seem...normal...I thought the A.I. implemented my physical stats...this is weird…
It isn’t weird. I purposely made it like that
A window appeared out of nowhere and I was shocked...What the hell…
Yes, whatever you are thinking is probably right. I am Kami-sama. I placed a limiter on you...hahaaa
What the hell is this stupid god or A.I. doing...Is this so called god, an NPC too...I ought to erase you when I return back…
You should mind your manners in front of me. I am a god and you are an adventurer….as long as you are in this world, I can do whatever I want...and you are going to be my champion from now on. No exceptions. You will train under my tutelage starting from now!
Wait what!?
This damn NPC is stupid..
“I REFUSE!”
While yelling out my rejection, the people in the surrounding area shuddered in fear. Seems like my voice travels far...I should run away before people find me…
I quickly run away from the area since it was getting a bit crowded. First it was the incident with the sword trio and now my voice was attracting attention...I need to hide somewhere…
Looking forward, I spotted an alleyway and I immediately duck into the alley.
Alright, stupid A.I. or NPC...can you please stop bothering me...I know you can read my mind…
Hahaha! Yep, I can read your mind but you have no choice but to follow my commands. I chose your fate and you cannot escape it!
“......”
I am getting tired of this annoying god...mhm...since this is a game...I think they should have a message blocker...let’s try this…
Wait! Don’t do that!! Listen to me before you---
“Disable window displays except for status updates and items”
The window of the NPC named “Kami-sama” finally disappeared and I was finally free…
I regained my posture and looked at my stats once more and various windows popped up. These windows were probably disabled from the beginning but now they are displayed…

What the hell...you can generate skills by simple actions...I wonder if it is the same with combat skills...and really...this NPC is going to annoy me later...I need to make sure to keep that message blocker active at all times...good thing, the NPC cannot undo the command…
So, a limiter has been placed on me...but it seems that I can use my strength...Oh well, no use arguing with an annoying NPC god that is forcing me into doing something that I really don’t want to do.
Let’s just train…
First things first, I need a standard quota. In a new environment, the first thing that is needed is...Information.
I quickly make my way out of the alleyway and finally enter the visible cobblestone paths. I continue to follow the path and passed the city fountain where a group of people were still located at.
I continue to look at the intricate buildings and various shops. Bustling voices continue to ring into the air as many NPC’s were selling various items and materials.
I continue to walk when I saw a certain building. The building had a warrior’s feel to it as it had a symbol of two swords intersecting with each other as the sign. I could hear the sword clashes that were occurring from within the building. It was tempting to enter but I had to get information first…
Leaving the so called “Warrior building”, I continue to make my way down the cobblestone path. Many pathways separated but I stayed on the main one until approaching a gigantic castle-like building. In front, there were guards that were stationed at the front. One of the guards was being attentive to the surrounding area but the others were slacking off. I was slightly irritated at the lack of discipline from these guardsman. Normally, they should be reprimanded for their lethargic manners but I will wait...first, I will ask a question…
“Umm, Sir, is there a place where one could obtain information about this city and the Elreim Continent?”
I peacefully ask my question. It wouldn’t do any harm to ask a decent question and these may be NPCs but my little brother told me to treat it as real life...even though, I can’t accept that irritating NPC-god...doesn’t mean that other NPCs can’t be peaceful…
“Ha? Information..Oh, you mean the library?” The attentive guard spoke in response.
I like this guard. He is wary of the situation as he already noticed me when I approached the area. Only after speaking did the other guards notice my presence. I’ll save him the trouble soon…
“Yes. Do you know the direction of the library?”
“Yep, just follow that other path until you reach a building with a giant book as the sign and above the door it should say library in big letters”
I bow respectfully for the information and thanked the attentive guard.
Then suddenly, I glare at the other guards that ignored my presence and continued to slack off…
Commander’s presence has been activated
Surrounding area has been affected - 6 NPCs are stunned
I inhale my breath and released my voice just like I did back in the military…
My commander’s voice is truly frightening you know…
“YOU ALL!! STRAIGHTEN UP YOUR POSITION! STAY AT ATTENTION AND MAINTAIN ORDER! WHY ARE YOU SLACKING! YOU! OVER THERE! STOP PICKING YOUR NOSE AND HOLD YOUR WEAPON PROPERLY! AND YOU! STOP SLOUCHING AT STRAIGHTEN UP! YOU ARE LUCKY I DON’T KNOW YOUR COMMANDER OR YOU WOULD BE EXECUTED ON THE SPOT FOR SUCH A POOR DISPLAY OF GUARD DISCIPLINE!!”
You have gained +5 Leadership
I directed my voice at the lazy guards and they were shuddering at my presence. Even the attentive guard was stunned but he was shaking in fear from my voice because I directed it only to those that were being lazy.
The guards immediately followed my orders and I left the scene. They were all confused at my presence because it was unexpected and it felt as if their commander was directly in front of them. I glared at them one more time from a distance and they continued to sweat profusely.
I shifted my gaze forward and headed towards the Library…
…
…
My walking experience was quite dull as I passed various buildings that were similar in color and shape. I am guessing that it is the homes of the numerous NPCs that live in the city. I would like to own a house one day….one day...maybe I can build one...I think I will...later…
I finally made my way to the library. It was a three-story building with a giant book symbol plastered on the front with giant letters spelling out, “LIBRARY”. It was quite the intellectual building as it had a school-like feeling to it.
I opened the door and saw a multitude of bookshelves that continued almost endlessly around the first floor. Signs were placed at each bookshelf, entitling the specific section that had certain books located in. The floor had a an unknown dark blue carpeting and the area was clean.
In the center, there was a circular table-like desk that had an NPC in the middle. The librarian was a female that looked as if she was in her early 20’s. She had a soft green hair and wore spectacles that enhanced her “librarian look”. Her body figure was accentuated at the hip and she had an average cup size of C. Her gaze was locked on the book and shifted onto me as I approached the center.
She was looking at me and finally, her harmonious voice descended onto my ears…
“How may I help you, Adventurer?”
“Ah, my name is Kuroichi. I am just admiring your library...do you have books that tell the history of this continent and the history of this city? Also, I would like books that give general information about this world and subjective topics about Magic and combat-type skills. Even elemental classification books too. Please and thank you.”
She was stunned at my request because not only was I the first adventurer to appear in the library, but the vast amount of book requests that I ordered.
Her eyes widened at the vast amount and she smiled in acceptance. She laid her book down after placing a booktab and lifted her arms in the air.
The surrounding air was dampening in color as the librarian was generating some sort of force until…
A physical manifestation of an elemental body appeared in front of her. I shifted my gaze from the librarian towards the summoned elemental and stepped back.
As I stepped backwards, the librarian spoke…
“Oh, this is a harmless elemental. I am a Magician and I can summon elementals...this wind elemental will gather your books that you requested. If you may, you can settle down on one of the desks.”
The librarian pointed towards the various desks that were located around the center formation. The wind elemental had dispersed into the air and began to gather the books that I inquired earlier. The bookshelves had various whistling noises that were being emitted from the wind elemental.
I sat on the chair that came with the desk and waited for my books to be delivered.
A minute later, the books were levitating above my desk and landed on the free spot that was on the desk. I gaze at the huge amount that was stacked high in a single formation. The wind elemental had created a giant pillar of books that looked ridiculous and even made its way towards the 2nd floor ceiling.
I sigh at the enormous amount…
“Wow...so much books…”
I sigh to myself and the librarian chuckled in the background. I shifted my gaze towards her and she returned quickly to her book.
I look at the stack of books and finally...I began my “intelligence gathering procedure”
WHY ME!?
