《Wing's to Tomorrow》Chapter 16: Elyssa's Rage

We charged into the western forest leaving behind a stream of deep purple light behind us. As we walked around the forest, a stray arrow came past and was deflected off Kairen’s shield. Zach immediately cast lightning blade severing the trunk of the tree the archer was in knocking him the ground.
I ran up to the archer and stabbed him in the crotch causing Zach and Kairen to wince in pain. “Where is the hideout?” I demanded
“I don’t know what you are talking about.” the archer replied.
I withdrew my blade making the archer scream and stabbed him in the knee. Demanding again where the hideout was. Still refusing to answer I moved my blade towards his face.
“You can tell me now, or I can cut out your eyeballs.” I said emotionlessly.
“It’s over that way” he said sobbing with his body wracked with pain.
I slice my sword directly into his heart finishing him off and we ran in the direction he pointed.
On the way we encountered three more archers which we dispatched by Zach cutting them down and me finishing them off with fatal blows. None of us said a word as we made our way to the thieves’ hideout.
The thieves’ hideout had a wooden palisade wall with men patrolling it. At the front was a single gate, and within were several tents, and a single mud brick thatched building. In the centre was a huge bonfire and around it were many people drinking and laughing.
I enchanted my sword with fire, and I charged at the rear of the wall slicing and setting parts of it on fire, I continued stabbing parts of the wall at approximately 1 metre intervals whilst Zach paralysed any men that were patrolling.
Once the fire finally took, shouts could be heard from within. Kairen charged and rammed the burning wall breaking the weakened sections and giving us an entry into the camp.
Zach climbed up the eastern wall and began taking out patrols. Kairen drew his sword and began taking out the men who came to the hole. I ran up to Kairen and enchanted his blade with icebloom causing it to freeze and intimidate the thieves.

After Kairen’s blade was enchanted, I jumped into the dance of the dragon. With wild stabs I slowly injured the thieves. I was too angry to accurately hit the thieves, and in most cases I purposely struck in a non-fatal point just to see them bleed and scream in pain.
thieves kept running at us pushing us back, occasionally there would be a glow of yellow where Zach shot with his static spell staggering the group in front of us. Kairen began hacking off limbs causing the wounds to immediately frost over and then bashing the iced area with his shield shattering part of the affected thieves’ bodies.
As the thieves began pushing towards me, Kairen struck out at the thief which was attacking me and our swords collided. The ice from his blade, and the fire from my blade were such extreme opposites that it caused some of the ice on his weapon to superheat exploding in front of us. Everyone in the area was sent flying back.
I was pierced in the back by some of the debris from the wooden palisade but, got up immediately not feeling any pain due to a combination of the adrenaline and rage that I felt.
Immediately coming back and a stream of blood coming from me intimidated the thieves and caused most of them to run away in fear towards the main building.
The sky was set alight by white blades of lightning coming from Zach’s direction. He began casting them faster than I have ever seen before. Later he told me it was an effect from Lyssa’s blessing.
I resumed my dance of the dragon and together with Kairen we took out the group who remained. The area was rife with blood. Both Kairen and I were completely immersed with blood, as we made our way to the main building where Zach met us.
Entering the building what we saw horrified us. Immediately our purple auras took on a deep blood red emitting a heavy presence.
Skill unlocked: PressureYou can release your pressure upon weaker foes causing them to fear you. at higher levels your pressure can break the minds of the weaker willed.

TO the left of the room were cages of young girls aged between 12 and 18. They were all stripped naked covered with wounds from whips. To the right were young men shackled with chains their bodies also covered with marks from excessive beatings and whipping.
I immediately charged to the girls on the left to try and free them. Kairen went to the right to cut the shackles tying chaining the men. Zach completely lost it and cast a spell I had never seen before. In an instant his aura started changing to gold and the roof disappeared with lightning striking all around the room.
The room went into chaos. I took out three thieves in an instant, Kairen cut through the chains of the shackles releasing the men who took up blades from the fallen thieves.
As I took the last thief on the left side of the room out I started unlocking the cages releasing the girls who cowered in the back of their cells refusing to come out. Completely filled with rage we annihilated all except the leader of the bandits.
Zach paralysed the leader of the bandits, and I took a whip off the wall from near the girls cells and took it to the bandit slowly whipping him until finally he died in a cloud of grey smoke.
As I looked around the room seeing that there were no more thieves in the vicinity, my adrenaline rush started abating and with it my rage. The aura that surrounded me disappeared and I started feeling a sharp pain in my back. I bandaged my wound before collapsing on the ground in a pool of blood.
After resting for 15 minutes, we went to the woman pulling them out of the cells and draping blankets and furs over them. Zach went to get some water and started to administer it. I bandaged any injuries I could see and the men started helping Kairen look after the girls.
After looking after the girls we took them back to the town to be reunited with their families if they had any. The remaining men and women were taken to the village elder to look after them.
When we walked into the elder’s house Rosetta was there. “What the hell happened?” she asked seeing me covered in blood.
Seeing Rosetta I finally broke down in a fit of tears in her arms. I began confiding in her the storey of what had happened whilst the elder was listening.
I left the room with Rosetta to an inn with the elder’s word that he would look after the victims of the thieves including Melanie. I spent the night with Rosetta being spoilt by her until I finally drifted off to sleep in her arms.
The next morning I looked at the notifications I ignored to find that at some point I had killed both Ascone and Kirin as well as completed the quest to kill the thieves. Amongst other messages were several increases in endurance, and strength.
I headed to the adventurer’s guild to hand in the quests and receive the rewards. Overall, I received 2 gold, 4 silver and 250 fame.
As I left the adventurer guild, people started to notice who I was because my fame had broken the 500 mark. Once someone's fame goes above 500, people begin to notice you, it is common for people to know your name. Fame makes others friendlier towards you and make them more likely to trust you with a favour or request. Sometimes people may give you gifts depending on what you did for the fame.
I made my way to the elder’s house to meet with Rosetta offering to give her a hand in anything that she needed. For the next week and a half, I helped Rosetta preparing the city for Persephone’s arrival setting up a huge festival in the town centre.
sorry it's a bit darker than I originally planned but, the words just flowed so well that I left it as is, I have added the mature tag to the series as a result.
extremely short chapter this time. next one should be longer.

Ph. D. In Sorcery
Follow Anastasia, the unlucky physicist turned wizard, as her reality gets turned upside down and she is plunged into a world of gods, magic, swords, and adventure. Short and sweet description, anything more would be a spoiler and I detest those. Now, what you can expect from reading: This is my first time writing, or better said allowing someone else to read that mess so don’t raise your expectations too much. Still, I will try to keep the story flowing, while also devoting as much time as I can to editing. In my opinion, the story is written at a faster pace than normal with time skips here and there. I will do my best to not allow the faster pace to ruin the story by using those time skips to raise the skill of the main character. I am mainly looking for feedback while I test myself in new and unexplored waters. I did put a lot of thought into worldbuilding and the magic system, it is something that has been mulling inside my head for years before I sat down to write anything down. First and foremost I am an engineer and not a writer. I will try to do my utmost to make the world logical and consistent, but sometimes I might not express that in a way that’s clearly understood. I have a rough outline with several possible endings, but the story will change and evolve as I do. But in case I have to stop for whatever reason, the story will get an ending. It will be done even if I have to send coded messages from a bunker. I am a big fan of the Dresden Files so you can be certain that everything mentioned will in most cases be used, with a few red herrings sprinkled in the mix. But that also means I will enjoy putting the main character through the meat grinder while I eat popcorn and laugh from my evil lair. Physics, and to be more precise electromagnetism, quantum field theory, general and special relativity are very interesting topics for me that I research in my spare time. That means that the premise of the story will be using that research to bring logic to magic. Stupid I know, magic is magic, but to me, there is no reason why there shouldn’t be a concrete set of rules there. But it is still magic and that allows me to play with some things that shouldn’t normally be possible. I will focus on evolving the main character and having her react as anyone normal would, from my perspective. There will be scenes of battle, gore, and sexy times, but I will not go into too many details, counting on your imagination to fill the gaps. There will be plenty of combat, even battles ranging from a few dozen, a hundred, and thousands of participants. I could go on but there isn’t much to say that would convince anyone to read, either you thought the title was cool or you liked the poster. Or not, but after several days in photoshop, that’s the best I could do. And the title was originally Sorceress with a Ph.D. The new one makes a little less sense but I like the ring of it more for some reason. I just hope someone enjoys what I write as much as I do. In the end that is the reason, I am doing this, because I enjoy putting my thoughts on paper and seeing the outcome. Credit for the art: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/e0o8nw
