《Darkest Shadow》Chapter 2 A Dream?

-Rin’s P.O.V-

After going in a deep trance I found myself in a dense jungle surrounded by the cries and roars of beasts. Brushing off the nearby branch and ducking under another I traversed the jungle with the cries and roars growing louder and louder. Until it stopped. Confused at the sudden stop, I found myself in a open field with the jungle around me.

What’s going on here... I asked myself and took a step forward, only to collide with a far larger body. Falling down on my butt, I raised my head to see what made me fall. It was a body...one of the bodies inside my dream...bloody and without a head, he floated there, chains entangling his neck. My eyes widen and my pupils grew little, I was too shaken to speak, too shocked to scream, and too scared to even think. My body was stiff as wood, colder than frostbite, and far more shaky than a rupturing volcano.

I kept staring and staring, until I noticed bodies dropping down from the now bloody sky, same as the body in front of me. They started to swing side to side, encircling around me, heads started to appear from the gaps of the circling bodies. They had no eyes, for they were gouged out, no ears, for they were ripped off, and no mouth, for it was clogged up with bloody rags. My surroundings grew active with whispers, cries, and screams everywhere, whispers of hatred, cries of agony, and screams of pain.

Help me...Someone help me…was all I could think of in that moment, then pop. The bodies and heads disappeared, leaving me once more in the empty field. I gasped for air and fell flat on my back, huffing and puffing, trying to calm my heart. That was far worse than the images I see every night, far worse. I wanted to help them, I wanted to scream for help, I wanted to plead so it all could stop...But no I was powerless. Too scared to do anything.

Calming down a bit, I started thinking and realizing. I never felt hatred or resentment for them. I felt fear that led to me thinking I was angry and resentful. Feared that I would be next, bloodied, beaten, and raped. I’m not a good person, I’m not righteous either, I’m no evil being, nor a demon. I’m just human, a human like all the rest, that puts up a façade. A façade of their own self interest and desire, the will to live, and the fear of death. I never wanted for someone to help them, nor did I want them to stop. I knew that if they stopped they’d go for me next and that anything I seemed to hate, they would be pressured to repeat it over and over again, just to make me suffer more. Not knowing that I never hated it in the first place nor was I suffering. They were the ones suffering, while I hid behind a sheep’s skin, avoiding the same treatment and fate they got.

As I was thinking, a loud terrifying and bone chilling scream shook the entire area, and from the sky countless heads rained down. Falling and attaching to necks of the bodies now surrounding me, numbering millions and billions.

I could only lay, and smile a little. This is what I deserved, as the bodies walked closer and closer, their lacerated pale arms reaching out to me, and their empty eye sockets now brimming intense red light.
