《Cosmic Spirits》A thick-headed Mama

"Someone wants to adopt... w-what?" The woman gradually and hesitantly bent down to pick up the papers she dropped in shock of Aiko's sudden shout. "Are you sure that's what they want? You're not jumping to conclusions again, right...?"

"She's not mistaken. I'm adopting her." Miyo answered in Aiko's stead as she walked up from behind her. She had the usual proud smirk on her lips which promptly vanished as the woman stood up and also topped Miyo in terms of height. She was probably just as tall as Aruna.

The shocked and irritated look on the woman's face was just as fast gone as the smirk on Miyo's as she looked down at the small woman. She was as if she went into a different personality. The lights shining against her glasses at an angle that made them reflect and hide her eyes entirely. "You want to adopt our Aiko?"

The woman didn't hesitate any longer than the few seconds she simply stared down at Miyo. "What's your name? What's your marital status? Where do you work? Are you really sure you can support a child in your household? Do you know how to care for a child? Do you have any crimina-."

"Calm down, Mama. I already made sure that they're to trust, and I have no doubt." Fudo nearly threw himself between the two to stop the barrage of questions. The woman stopped her questions in surprise at what Fudo just said. "You oversaw them yourself...wait, what do you mean 'they' ?"

Fudo didn't answer but just glanced over to the side while smiling with an unsure smirk. Following Fudo's glance, the woman was now left staring at Kaiyo, who was tried her hardest to control herself while looking at the children running by.

"You... think she's trustworthy...? She looks as if she wants to attack the kids." The woman whispered into Fudo's ear. He didn't deny it though, he only answered with a nod that supported the woman'S statement. "But she's actually pretty careful. She just likes cute things... I guess. She looked at these two the same way the whole time we walked here."

"Ahem." Miyo cleared her throat as she pushed Fudo to the side so she'd stand before the woman once again. She looked pissed at first, but as she looked up, her face didn't show any kind of anger at all. Instead, the smirk returned to her face as she held up six fingers, three on each hand.

"My name is Miyoko Noguchi. I'm married to the giant beauty over there, and her name is Kaiyo Noguchi. We work at a company in Kyoto called Heiwaga as one of the higher tiers, so there's no worry in terms of financial support since I alone can support a family with my pay. Believe me or not, but I'm probably as good at taking care of children as you, and there's no criminal record for any of us. We're clean!"

She put a finger down every time she finished a part of the introduction, and as all fingers were down, she didn't do more than glare at the woman with a smug smile on her lips. The woman was suddenly more overwhelmed than Miyo as she barraged her with the questions, making her stop and stutter before she finally collected her thoughts.

"F-fine, if you may follow me into the back, then we can have a quiet interview there." She said as she adjusted her glasses. Miyo, who was visibly shocked by the fact that this was only to see if they could have an interview and not the interview itself, followed her shortly. "Kaiyo, can you go with the other two? I'll have this done soon."

"...Sure, I'll go with them... but make sure to hurry up!" Kaiyo called out to Miyo before she disappeared into a room in the back alongside the woman. "If I may say... your wife seems as if she doesn't agree to this... she seems to have anger directed towards children." The woman said. Her back turned towards Miyo as she walked to the chair on the opposite side of the table.

"Anger towards... you mean Kaiyo? Well, she needs to control herself, yeah, but that's the wrong direction you're going. She hates to break her character. She always wants to be the cool and collected person, but around her heart beats fast around children, she has a hard time resisting cute things." She answered with a smile, also sitting down on the table.

"As long as she won't suddenly attack any of my children, it's good." As she watched Miyo take a seat, the woman took a few papers from the drawer next to her. "First, I'd like to apologize for the sudden questions earlier. That's just how I determine if I should consider a person as suitable or not. This orphanage may take these things a little easier, but we're not a pet adoption center. As we're at this, my name is Suzuki Tomoe, but you can call me by my first name, Mrs. Noguchi."

"Then please call me Miyoko as well. It'd be weird if only I'd call you by your first name." She answered, closely observing the women's actions. Through the use of Omoikane's library, Miyo knew a lot in theory, but in practice, this was entirely new for her. "Then I'll do gladly. Before we begin, I have to ask you, are you sure you want to adopt Aiko? She has...let's say a few quirks."

As she listened to Tomoe go on about Aiko, her gaze shifted. She knew that making sure might be a good thing in this situation, but this didn't sound like just that. "Are you... trying to stop me from adopting her?"

"I'm just telling you. I'm by no means trying to keep Aiko here, as in the eleven years she was here, she only made one friend. I'd love to see her in an environment better for her, but I'd hate to see parents bringing her back because she claims to be able to see ghosts..." Tomoe answered in a calm manner.

"Yeah, that's exactly why I chose her. I love her little blue orb." As she heard Miyo's answer, Tomoe looked up from her papers. The surprise in her face wasn't to oversee. "Wait...she told you about the ghost...? Also, didn't she say it was red?"

"It used to be, that's also how I know it, but things change! And before you doubt my little girl any longer, watch this!" Immediately, she pushed herself away from the table using her legs and soon after disappeared into the floor. "Mrs. Miyoko?!" That was the last thing she heard from Tomoe before she entered the library.

Tomoe jumped up from her chair, looking over the table, but she was unable to find a trace of either Miyo or the chair she fell over with. She ran over to the other side, looking for the woman who seemingly just disappeared into thin air. "What...how can this-"

"Boo." She heard from behind her back. Her eyes widened as she turned around and saw the very woman that just vanished into the floor sit in the chair that she jumped out of. Her head resting on her hands, and her lips were wearing a smug smirk. "Missed me?"

"How did you- You just- What just happened?!" She was obviously creeped out by Miyo's sudden teleportation, and she didn't seem to get a slight grasp of what happened in the few seconds that just passed. "Espers, not ghosts. Their name is espers. Aishi didn't lie even once. She's been in the right every time she talked about that little floating ball."

"P-please stop joking around. It's ok if you want to show your magic tricks, and I have to admit, this was pretty amazing, but I'd like to ask you to keep this out of the interview. If you're alright with Aiko's ghost stories, then there's no reason to further talk about this topic." Tomoe calmly answered. Her posture was straightened, her tone calmed down, and her expression was as sober as the time she started.

The ends of Miyo's mouth lowered themselves as she was gradually becoming impatient with Tomoe. A slight sigh escaped her lips while she stood up from the chair, signaling Tomoe to watch closely without saying a word. She waited for a few seconds, making sure to have her complete attention before she walked directly into the wall.

"Here, does this finally convince you?" She asked as she returned in the instant that she walked into the wall. Yet, this time she held the chair that she first fell into the library with up next to her. "I nearly forgot how hard it is to tell people about us when they never saw anything esper related..."

Tomoe looked down at Miyo with a non-saying face...no, more like a face that felt so much at the same time that it looked as if she had no particular expression. "I... I'm sorry, may I have some time? I think... I need to process this... You just walked... right into my wall...and came back with a chair... I mean...I saw it... but I still can't really believe this."

"Not just a chair! This is your chair! The one I made disappear before! Now can you please believe me? I need to talk to you about some stuff involving all this...oh, and here, you seem like you could use this." Looking back up at the woman, who was obviously overwhelmed with the situation, Miyo reached her the chair that she still held in her hand.

"Yes, yes, the adoption still isn't done thoroughly," Tomoe answered with a thanking nod as she was sitting down on the chair, but Miyo only shook her head. Her face switched back. The annoyed expression became the smug smirk once more

"Nope, not that! I would've taken Fufu and Aishi anyway. This is business talk! I want to connect this town with Heiwaga, and this little establishment will be the 'hideout'!" The woman stepped over as she adjusted her glasses and again sat down in the seat that Tomoe started in, now completely switching the sides of the interview.
