《The Phoenix Hero [DROPPED]》Chapter 033 - The Stone House

Another chapter! I will try to get the next chapter, one with some more fighting, out before I sleep tonight. No guarantees though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"We're here," said Kongming as he stopped in a clearing. In front was a building made almost entirely of black polished stones. It was huge, as big as one of the dormitories for Apprentices in West Wind Academy. It had numerous windows.
"You two will be safe in here until the Gate opens again," said Kongming.
"Thank you Grandmaster," said Akiza.
The three went inside Kongming's house. Inside, everything appeared to be made of high quality wood, most likely cut from the trees of the Immortal Realm itself. There were numerous books on the shelves. There were many pots with strong sources of Internal Energy in them.
"You two can sleep in the empty room upstairs," said Kongming. "But in the meantime, I will help you two train."
"What?" Serph said with a happy look on his face. "I can't believe this, being chosen by the Grandmaster."
"You two need to be able to survive here in the Immortal Realm when the fog has not lifted," said Kongming. "If you two can do it, you are at least at the Lord Stage if you avoid the strong ones."
"To advance to the Lord Stage..." Serph said looking at his hand and making it into a fist. It was something now in his reach.
"Thank you for this chance Grandmaster," said Akiza.
"Do you have any medicine or elixirs with you?" Kongming asked.
"No just some plants," said Akiza.
"Show me," said Kongming.
Akiza took out all the plants she had collected while she and Serph were in the Immortal Realm. It was a huge amount, but the Internal Energy were incomparable to the ones in Kongming's storage.

"Do you not know how to refine them?" Kongming asked.
"I do, but I don't have the tools," said Akiza.
"What if I told you there is a way to do it without tools and guarantee 100% purity," said Kongming.
"Is that even possible?" asked Akiza.
"Yes," said Kongming. "There is special used by highly skilled alchemists."
Kongming got up and chose three of the ingredients. He put them in his hand. He focused and the ingredients in his hand begin to glow. The three ingredients moved and combined together at a common spot. There was a release of a blinding light and energy. When it disappeared, the only thing in Kongming's hand was a small bright red pill.
"Incredible," said Serph.
"You can do this regardless of your element," said Kongming. "You just have to know the recipe."
Akiza tried it. She took the same three ingredients and copied every step. As the blinding light was released, Akiza fell to the floor. "So tired," she said.
"It requires an immense amount of Internal Energy for someone at your level," said Kongming. "But it saves you a lot of time because you don't have to make it the right way and it guarantees purity with the right ingredients."
"Here," said Kongming handing the red pill to Serph.
"What is this for?" asked Serph.
"It is something to help reduce the effects of the fog and improve your vision," Kongming explained. "Since Akiza made her own, I'm just going to give you the one I made."
They both ate the red pill. "Akiza, you should study the books here," Kongming said pointing at his shelf. They contained numerous medical books. "And I have a special training for both of you," said Kongming with a huge grin on his face.

Serph felt fear. Kongming was very intimidating despite not exhibiting any pressure that a practitioner would have.
"I have a question," said Akiza.
"Yes what is it?" said Kongming.
Akiza showed Kongming the pink fire. "What is this?" she asked.
"This is a special attribute of fire," said Kongming. "It is a combination of Yin, Yang, and Fire. Yin and Yang are responsible for creation and destruction, Fire breathes life into things. The result is a healing fire."
"What can it heal?" asked Akiza. "I've only been able to use it to ease pain and the effects of poison."
"It is not very strong," said Kongming. "As you get stronger, the effects should improve. If you had the powers of the Divine Phoenix, it may even be able to bring someone back from the dead, but there hasn't been one in centuries."
"Revive the dead?!?" Akiza and Serph both said with a shocked voice. This is the first time the two have heard of such a ridiculous thing. Then again, Kongming slew a dragon with his bare hands without much effort, such a thing might just be possible.

The Due
Every sailor knows the tale of Davy Jones' Locker. That place drowned sailors are sent to, ever resting on sea's bed. Some tales recount of a ghostly ship, the Flying Dutchman. Many a story has spawned from these two tales. Countless retellings mixing in their own fictions. But all stories spawn with a kernel of truth to them, and the story of Davy Jones is no exception. Those who've met the legendary seaman and his ghostly ship might call him a ferryman, escorting the drowned to their respective afterlives. Others might call him a devil, meting punishment on those deserving. The true story is always slightly different. Davy Jones is a ferryman, but not one for the afterlife, as Walter finds out. No, Davy Jones manages those who die at sea while in debt, and Walter died with a lot of debt. Unable to pay, Davy puts Walter to work. The specter has just the job for the dead college graduate. Another god, Sod, needs an afterlife for his new world. Davy tasks Walter with the job. Suddenly, Walter finds himself having to run a fledgling underworld with little instruction from Sod. To top it off, the denizens of Sod's world have their own ambitions to achieve godhood, and they won't take kindly to Sod's newest employee shaking up the status quo. [Traumatizing Content tag is up just to let everyone know this will be a story that deals with different themes of death. Some of them won't be nice and so better to be safe than sorry.]

Dust and Glory
A century after World War III left the planet a nuclear wasteland, earth is nearly unrecognizable. Alien ‘Benefactors’ have taken control of North America’s most populous cities and built indomitable walls around them, defending their inhabitants but trapping them under a totalitarian rule. Outside these citadels, chaos reigns, led by the mutants of the wasteland; cultists, raiders, and canibal clans. Glory, a rogue android, is roaming the wastes after escaping her sadistic “father”. Alone and reeling from the effects of a previously sheltered life, her only ray of hope is Reza City, built upon the ruins of what used to be Phoenix, Arizona. True, the Benefactors have a strict ban on self-aware artificial intelligence in place, but that should only prove an issue if they realize she’s an AI. The real problem is what lurks outside the city: over a million square miles of harsh, unyielding desert. And slinking between the dunes and the fissures are the mutants, looking for an easy victim.
