Diary entry 11
So i made a big decision without consulting the group.
I ran into the man who bought José's watch the other day. I recognized him due to the watch being on his wrist. I stopped him and asked to talk. He seemed to be in a rush but I stopped him and showed him my phone.
He quickly stopped and dug through his coat jacket for a speech bubble and had me touch it.
Without revealing too much about myself I told him I was an alchemist and tinkerer from a far-off land and that I was hoping to find a patent office or a crafters guild.
The man was skeptical at first so I pulled him to a place away from people and diminished my gun. He was fascinated and asked me how it worked.
I promised to tutor him on it but only if I got the information I asked for.
I didn't realize the implications of that at the moment but I had just taken on a native as a protégé, and promised to introduce guns and gun powder to this world.
He introduced himself as Ephron and he asked to take me back to his workshop.
I didn't want to go alone. I learned the hard way to never follow a stranger to a second location. Especially if you have something they want. So instead I'm making the difficult choice of asking some of my fellow earthlings to accompany me. That will require telling them about the promise I made.
In the meantime, he gave me a map of the city. He pointed out the town square for a frame of reference, then circled his shop, and the location of the crafters guild.
He was also kind enough to point out a few places to avoid. Supposedly a body had been found dead and looted in an alley nearby. Fancy that.
In other news, no one has seen Val or Declan all day. I'm starting to get a bit worried but I can tell from the "noises" that they're still here. I should bring them some water.
