Chapter 15: Arrogant Idiot
Kei and Fether laughed and proceeded to ignore him.
The man’s face turned red before he taunted once more. “Are you scared of me? How about both of you come at me together?” He curled his index finger at them. This action irritated the both of them.
They finally took his challenge seriously and Kei cracked his fists and got ready to fight but Fether held him back. “Let me.”
“You can both go at once. Heh.” The man sneered again.
Dectre advised them both from the sides. “He’s Jung Kyo, a master of the Tiger Fist and an Innate ability user.”
“Don’t worry, I’m confident I can knock him with one punch, and Fether isn’t that far behind in my strength.” Kei confidently told him.
Fether stood in front of Jung Kyo. “Here, fight my clone, if you win then you can fight me. It’s a lot weaker than me don’t worry.”
Jung Kyo was shocked at what he said followed by anger at the fact that he was being belittled.
To add to his embarrassments. Kei started shouting and taking bets to see who’s the winner. “Fether’s clone or Jung Kyo? Come here and bet on your fighter!”
Most of the people gambled on Jung Kyo winning but 2 people chose the clone.
The tall guy and the small guy playing with his phone earlier both gambled on the clone. Kei asked for their names and they amiably answered him. The tall guy’s name is Chae Kyung Woo and the small guy’s name is Bong Sang Won. *
Jung Kyo’s face was so red it felt like blood would squeeze out.
They both prepared to fight and when Dectre shouted fight they both charged at each other.
The clone slashed sideways at Jung Kyo forcing him to dodge downward. He retaliated with a low kick and forced the clone off the ground. While midair and upside down, the clone continued slashing. Jung Kyo punched him right in the stomach when the clone placed his sword in front of him to block it.
The clone flew back and skidded on the ground. “Heh, so you’re only this strong.”
“He’s bragging about beating a clone. How pathetic.” Kei mocked from the side.
Jung Kyo turned red because of anger and charged at the clone. He smashed his leg at him making the clone roll on the ground to dodge. It tumbled away from Jung Kyo who kept stomping at his head.
Jung Kyo couldn’t hit the clone and he stood still for a second. The clone took this opportunity to stand and patted his clothes to clean them.
The clone felt his opponent suddenly absorb magical energy in the air. Kei also felt this and looked at Fether to see that he was still unconcerned.
Kei looked back at the fight and felt curious about Jung Kyo’s ability but he quickly learned what it was.
Fether’s clone used the Barrier of the sea and closed his eyes. Jung Kyo seeing this sneered then punched from a distance. Kei saw shockwaves appear from his fist and quickly understood what he planned.
Kei activated his ability and peeked at the battlefield. He saw the clone disappear because it was made out of magical energy which doesn’t exist in his realm. A second later, Fether disappeared from his sides and appeared on the battlefield. Kei quickly deactivated his ability and peeked at his sides. Seeing that the clone and the real body swapped places without anyone knowing the truth.

‘Damn he’s cheating right under their nose.’ Kei was astounded.
Fether couldn’t block the shockwave with his sword and quickly dodged aside. He wanted to hide the fact that he was the real body and not a clone. He quickly ran towards Jung Kyo and slashed at him wanting to quickly finish it.
Jung Kyo punched at him again sending multiple shockwaves roiling towards him. Fether jumped up and did a backflip before landing behind his opponent. Jung Kyo reacted by jumping forward and dodging Fether’s attack.
Fether grew tired of their exchange with him trying to rush in and Jung Kyo nimbly dodging him. He planned to decide this with one move and just rushed in without planning to block or dodge.
Jung Kyo was about to punch again when Fether suddenly disappeared from his sight. “Tears of the Lightning Dragon.” He heard Fether’s voice before his vision disappeared altogether.
Fether flipped his sword before he hit Jung Kyo ultimately hitting him with the blunt side on his head. Fether stood there victorious and everyone who watched the fight was hyped even if some lost the bet.
Fether quickly swapped with his clone and showed the clone disappearing in front of the crowd’s eyes. Kei and Fether left together and went to get Dae Hwan before bidding the people goodbye.
…
“I didn’t expect you to cheat so brazenly.” Kei laughed at him with Dae Hwan looking at them confused.
“It’s his fault for having an ability that I cannot block. I just planned to humiliate him by blocking all his attacks but it became me attacking him and dodging me. So, I swapped with my clone before making a quick work of him.” Fether tried to explain himself.
Kei nodded before asking. “So, you can swap with your clone? I don’t really understand how your ability works. How about I tell you how my ability works and you tell me your abilities?” He proposed a deal and Fether agreed.
Fether explained his ability. “I can make up to 4 clones, with each having about 50 to 75% of my strength and energy capacity. They can only be within 50 meters of me and I can instantly swap with any of them. My second ability allows me to assimilate with elements if it came from magic. For example, if a fire is ignited with a lighter, I cannot assimilate with it. If the fire instead came from magic, I can do it. Just think of it as I can assimilate myself with elements powered by magic.”
Dae Hwan heard all of this and exclaimed. “That’s so cool! I wish I have an ability like that.”
Kei was also amazed and couldn’t close his mouth. “Imagine having two abilities, that’d be so useful.”
“Well yes and no. I can use two abilities but just using my second ability almost uses up all of my magical energy so it’s not that useful. And, I also need to train in both of them, making it hard to raise the mastery.” Fether told them the pros and cons of having multiple abilities.
Kei nodded and then explained his ability. “My ability allows me to enter another realm if that’s what you call it. Everything is the same except for having monotonous color and having no magical energy. So, if you make a barrier made of magical energy, I can simply bypass it using this ability, and then I’m inside. Your clones also disappear in this realm as they are made out of magical energy. I don’t know much about this ability as it appeared when we were fighting the devil.”

Fether was more shocked about Kei’s ability than Kei was by Fether’s ability. “That means you can see which is my real body instantly?” He asked Kei to which the latter nodded.
“Isn’t that overpowered? You can dodge any attacks and can go through any barrier made out of magical energy and you’re also invisible. You can also run using that ability and leave no tracks. That’s a lot of uses a single ability can have. Can you bring anyone in that realm?” Fether kept asking him questions.
“Not really as entering the realm means I need to use the ability which also means that I need to have magical energy. If I’m in that realm I cannot absorb the magical energy which means I run out of energy fast and cannot maintain the ability for long.”
Dae Hwan was just looking at the both of them and thought to himself. ‘The ability that other people have that I usually see in the tv is normal superpowers seen in stories like growing in size or controlling fire. The both of them have so much cooler powers than those scrubs.’
“I wish I have an ability that can go toe to toe with your abilities.” Dae Hwan told the both of them.
They both smiled and patted his back. “I’m sure even without an innate ability, just your ability to quickly understand and adapt to magical energy means you’re a genius at magic.” Kei cheered him up.
Kei succeeded as Dae Hwan smiled brightly. “Let’s go back.”
Fether stopped Kei and held him by the shoulders. “We’re going back already? How about we buy you a sword because we couldn’t get one before.”
Kei considered the idea before agreeing. “Alright let’s go shopping again.”
…
They returned to the Magic Market district and went straight to the shop that Fether recommended. Kei entered the shop and saw a wide array of swords on display.
“All of these swords have circuits that can circulate magic energy. The better the sword and the circuit is, the more you have to pay obviously.” Fether explained when they entered the room.
The wide display mesmerized Dae Hwan so much that his mouth was wide open. Kei asked Remy in his head to help him choose the best weapon for him.
[To use your ability to the max, I’d suggest a sword you can wield in a fast way, preferably a dagger or short sword since you can assassinate people with your ability and completely ignore their magical defenses. Add a good sword and you can also penetrate through their physical defense.]
Kei contemplated her suggestion and agreed. He went to the shopkeeper which looked like a slacker with an unkempt hairstyle and cigarette. “Boss, I want a dagger or short sword. Give me one of good quality.”
He responded with a deep voice that was so heavy it exuded pressure. “All the items here are all better than the ones you can find in any other shops. Give me your hand.” He extended his arm and waited for Kei to do the same.
This confused Kei to no end but he had no choice but to do the same. He placed his arm on top of the shopkeeper’s palm.
The shopkeeper gripped Kei’s wrist which hurt Kei a little and surprised him. He looked at the shopkeeper who had his eyes closed which slightly frowned after a while. He wanted to ask but he also didn’t want to disturb the guy, fortunately, the shopkeeper let go of his wrist and he pulled it back.
The shopkeeper spoke.” You have a good body but your magical circuit is broken, your body is as strong as tier 3 enchanted weapons.”
“Tier 3?” Kei asked.
“You know about enchanted weapons but not about its tiers? Foolish. There are 4 tiers of enchanted weapons, from lowest to highest, there are tier 3 to tier 1, and above that are Realm weapons. There are rumors that there is a tier above Realm Weapons but no one has ever seen any proof of that.” The shopkeeper explained it before telling them to follow him. Not even letting Kei digest the information he just gave.
The store wasn’t that big so they quickly reached their destination. The shopkeeper stood in front of a wooden case and opened it, revealing a shining silver dagger inside. “This sword is one of the best swords I have made, but sadly it failed my expectations. It boasts strong durability and sharp edges, but its magical circuit fails my standards. Seeing as your magical circuit is broken, I suggest you get this. I’d even give you a discount.”
Kei listened attentively while Fether and Dae Hwan were exploring the store. “Sorry, but I want a better one. At the minimum, it should be able to pierce through a devil.”
Kei’s reply shocked the shopkeeper, his eyes grew bigger and he stared at Kei for a little while. After coming to, he quickly erased the shock off his face and went back to his stoic face.
He went back to his desk and grabbed a wooden box under it. He opened it revealing two weapons, a dagger, and a sword. The moment the weapon was revealed to the world, it quickly shone and a vortex of magical energy appeared around it. The shopkeeper quickly closed the box to prevent it from forming any further.
[A tier 2 enchanted weapon!] Remy shouted inside Kei’s head.

Because KU requires exclusivity as part of their terms of service, I have had to pull the majority of the content from this site. I left the full novel up for as long as possible, so I hope everyone got a chance to read it. If you haven't had a chance to read it in its entirety (sorry!) you can pick it up on Amazon. Thanks again for coming on this journey with me, and I so hope you enjoyed it. The book will be out on Tuesday July 24th. Best, James Hunter
