Chapter 5

“Oh! Great goddess Remy. I’m sorry for any previous fault of this servant of yours. Please tell me what to do.” Kei begged Remy for help.

“Hey! look he’s talking to himself. He must have gone crazy with fear.”

“Stop talking and start running!” Barte went to carry Trikus and Bob carries Estea. The team took one last look at Kei and then ran. ‘Thanks for your help, no name man.’

[Sure, since I’m a benevolent goddess, I’ll tell you what to do. If you want, I’ll even spell it for you, it’s called plan R-U-N.]

“YOU USELESS NECKLACE!!” Kei shouted with annoyance and started running.

The running beast quickly became larger by the second. Once it got a little closer, it’s revealed that the beast was a huge wild boar.

Kei was running with his life on the line and saw the team’s baggage carrier. The carrier drew his sword on his back and took a stance against the boar.

“What the hell are you doing? Run!!” Kei shouted at him.

“It’s a pig, why are you running? You a chicken or what?” The carrier’s words provoked Kei and made him stop running.

[Heh, he called you a chicken lol.] Remy rubbed salt to the wound.

“Seeing that you didn’t run away, I’ll commend you for that. I’m the 13th Head of the Water Blade Clan, Fether.” He introduced himself proudly.

Kei smiled wryly, ‘This guy really provoked me into helping him. What a shrewd guy.’

“I’m Kei, 1st Head of the Ashura Family.” Kei didn’t want to look down and made up a family on the spot.

Fether looked at him with doubt, introducing himself as the 1st head made Kei’s lies very obvious.

[The hell are you on about? Your name is Ashura Kei? Where did Ashura come from?] Remy shouted in Kei’s mind.

‘Don’t worry about that, I made it up on the spot. It’s a great name, right? I don’t have a family name so I’ll use it from now on. I got it from a certain three-sword style user.’

[I wanted to invite you to my Skyler Family.]

‘Remy Skyler? Kei Skyler? No thanks. Sounds so bad I’d puke whenever someone would call me that. And how would you invite me? I don’t think your father is alive anymore and I’d never marry into someone’s family.’ Kei continued roasting Remy making her speechless.

[I’d never marry you, NEVER!!!]

‘I didn’t say it was you though?’ Kei laughed out loud in his mind.

[… I hate you.] Remy didn’t speak anymore after being shamed.

After teasing Remy, Kei saw that the boar was quite close until they have contact with each other.

“Ok so I stopped running, so what’s the plan?” Kei asked Fether what to do.

“The plan is to beat the pig up and have dinner.” Fether answered quickly and readied to dodge sideways.

‘A better plan than plan R-U-N.’

[I hate you.]

Kei nodded and also prepared to dodge sideways. When the boar was close enough, they dodge sideways at the same time and saw the boar just ram through the trees like it was paper. Moments later it slid on the ground to a stop, its huge body made it hard to move between the trees which was an opportunity for the two.

“Damn, I don’t want to take that head-on.” Kei remarked.

“By the way, what’s your ability? Mine’s heal.” Fether asked Kei.

‘Fuck, I don’t know my ability, gotta lie again.’

“Uhh… mine’s the speed type.” Kei answered cautiously.

“Ok, distract for me while I do the damage dealing.” Fether suggested to Kei.

They both worked together to beat the beast. Kei baited the boar to charge at him while Fether attacks it, slowly chipping at its health.

After the boar charged at them for the fourth time, it lost the energy to move. The two were almost too tired to even move, the boar’s skin was just too tough, and only by using their full power could they injure it. When they saw the boar stop and looked tired, their eyes lit up and their stamina temporarily maxed.

“Chance!” Kei used his all to punch the boar lifting the boar from the ground by a little bit.

Seeing this, Fether went straight under the boar and stabbed its stomach, and ran with it, cutting the stomach in half. The boar roared so loud that Fether had to let go of his sword to cover his ears, after the roar, the boar’s eyes turned white and it died.

Phew!

Kei and Fether both let out sighs of relief.

Hic! Sob!

Kei could hear someone crying and looked around the destroyed forest. He saw that Fether didn’t notice anything so he realized who it was.

Kei’s mental state has been invaded by Remy, it’s like a single room divided into two. She primarily resides inside Kei’s mental space and only goes to the necklace to use magic or talk to someone other than Kei. Remy is inside Kei and can hear all his thoughts but the same cannot be said for Kei.

Hearing Remy crying, Kei immediately felt guilty. He dived deep in his mind. ‘This is the first time I entered this state.’ He saw a figure sitting while hugging her knees and crying.

“Uhm… I’m really sorry, I was harsh on you.” Kei scratched his head and bowed his head to Remy.

This is the first time Kei ever see someone actually cry after being teased so he didn’t know what to do. His hands were just waving in the air hesitating on what to do.

Remy raised her head and look at Kei, her eyes were red and swollen from crying. “Hic, you called me useless and said my family name sucks and that you’d never marry someone like me.”

Even though Remy’s appearance was haggard, Kei could see that she was really beautiful, her eyes as black as the abyss and hair as golden red as fire.

‘Oy! I never said that last part.’

“So, you’ll marry me?” She asked with tears dropping.

‘Don’t look at me like that, you’ll make me say yes. Wait!! Anything I think she can read. Never mind I didn’t say anything.’

“Wait! Why did you crying go to me marrying you?” Kei was shocked at what she said.

“You said my family name sucks so give me your family name then!” Remy wiped her tears and shouted.

“Wait, first can we just agree to not read my thoughts? I can’t think with privacy.”

Remy agreed right away and nodded.

“You’re the one who said you’ll never marry me so why do you want my family name now? I just made it up, it’s not even final.” Kei asked the questions he wanted to ask since earlier.

Remy’s eyes lit up. “You’re right! Why do I even want to marry you? Becoming your sister is enough… wait we don’t share the same father though so that doesn’t work.”

“That’s that, ok? I said sorry so we’re good now. The name problem can be solved later.” Kei planned to leave and wake up in the real world.

“Wait, don’t leave yet, stay with me.”

“You’re inside my mind, I can’t leave even if I want to.” ‘You’re the one who can leave me.’

Kei didn’t say the last part and just kept it to himself.

Remy stood up and fixed herself. Remy’s petite figure was just wearing a simple white dress that covers until her knees, but that enough was enough to show her beauty and elegance.

‘Shit, she’s pretty.’

Remy smiled and hugged Kei.

“Hey, how old are you when you got trapped here?”

“Trapped? Oh! I died when I was 17 years old, a day before my birthday. Then my soul was put here by my father.” Remy answered truthfully. Feeling Kei’s gaze, she covered up her chest and shouted. “You pervert, you just apologized to me and now you’re making another offense?”

“What?! I just looked at you?” Kei got confused at her becoming mad. He was looking at the necklace hanging on her necklace which was the same as his necklace.

“My mother’s was huge, if only I had time to grow enough.” Remy patted her chest, which isn’t flat but isn’t that big either.

“Huh, I don’t understand, but ok?”

“Ashura Kei, let’s get out of here.” Kei heard Fether’s voice and was dragged back to reality.

Kei and Fether carried the boar’s body upside down taking it to the Gate.

When they came out, they saw the team waiting for them outside with the soldiers. Estea was busy healing Barte when the two came out. They all looked at them and seeing the boar that was larger than a truck, their eyes grew wide.

“You, did you kill this?” The commander asked the two of them.

They nodded and just plopped the corpse aside. Fether then asked the commander. “How much for this?”

The commander immediately understood and contacted someone on the phone. A moment later he raised three fingers. “One million dollars for this.”

Fether nodded and accepted the deal. The commander called a soldier and had him ready the money.

Kei remembered something and went back inside the Gate, a moment later, he was carrying the corpses of the chicken beasts with him.

The people were ready for this but were still shocked nonetheless to see Kei nonchalantly walking while carrying seven bodies.

Fether looked at him and became curious. “How are you that strong when you have the Speed Ability?”

“I just trained my body well.” Kei answered truthfully. ‘Well, if only I completely recovered, I can carry this load with a single hand.’

[Your body will take a while to fully recover. You not only damaged your magic circuit but also your internals with that time freeze.]

‘Yeah, it feels like my body is tied up and I can’t move well. I miss the time freeze when my body was at its peak.’

“We’ll take those chickens for two hundred thousand each.” The commander talked from the side.

‘Holy shit I’m rich! I can stay in those five-star hotels for as long as I want.’

Remy also got excited and added. [Buy me some books and movies.]

‘Alright, as many as you want.’

“Ashura Kei, here’s the money from the boar. Your half a million is there and also another 1.4 million from those chickens.”

“HEY!! Why are you giving them the money? Those are ours!” Portez complained and held his gun.

Borte held him back and shook his head, “We can’t beat him. There’s other Gates out there, we just entered the wrong one.”

Portez gritted his teeth and calmed down, he holstered his gun on his waist and spoke. “We defeated three demon chickens. At least give us that. I know you saved us but we also need the money.”

Kei pondered for a second before nodding, he gave them the 400,000$ and bid farewell.

Bob stood up and shouted. “Thank you for saving us!”

Kei didn’t stop walking away and just waved his hand behind.

“I’m a speed user like him, I’ll be as strong as him in the future. Right now, I can multiply my speed by three times, but I’ll train more so I can reach 4 or 5 or even 10 times my speed.” Bob steeled his resolve and planned to train harder making him one of the fastest Speed Users in the future, but that’s another story.

[Where do you plan to go now?]

‘I don’t know, maybe go enter some more Gates and train my body or wait till I fully recover.’

Kei was walking and saw the moon high up in the sky.

[I know! Why don’t you go learn what your ability really is? Krie told me that they’ll leave an Ability Orb in every major city.]

‘I thought my ability is the time freeze? I wanted to MUDAMUDAMUDA!’

[No, it’s not, you just activated the Time Necklace for that.]

Kei understood and asked another question. ‘This necklace… this is really important, isn’t it?’

[I’ll explain later, knowing will just send you in more danger. For now, you need to learn what your ability really is.]

Kei nodded and agreed. ‘But before that, I’m hungry. Let’s go take a bite somewhere!’

Remy agreed cheerfully. [Oh! but don’t eat anything weird. Anything you taste, I can also taste if I want to.]

‘Hehe! How about some fried frogs? Or Skewered bugs?’

[You know what? I’m leaving your mind whenever you eat disgusting stuff. Feel like something censored by a rainbow will come out of my mouth.]
