《Just For Fun》Chapter 53: Magic´s Origin?

Appearing once more with a large package full of food on her back, Mitchell starts walking down the path towards the valley and more specifically, the pile of supplies that was slowly growing close to a floor of logs the technicians were building with a modified mining crane and a few poles to help with positioning.
Near the beginning of the ravine, which along with the path left towards the south from the valley, Mitchell could see the other crane they were using cutting down trees, while the building crane had its disc like claw removed and a series of pulleys added on, the cutter crane also had the claw removed but instead they had attached a circular saw onto the regular frame turned ninety degrees to make it horizontal.
It wasn’t long before Mitchell reached the pile and dumped her last bag onto it, laying on the ground only a few meters away was Rosa, who had been threatened with being sent back to the academy unless she helped... she had quickly agreed to help out after the thirty previous minutes of refusing...
The floor of the future warehouse was nearly complete and they had already sunken the roughly treated wood deep into four holes Nebel had manipulated into the ground. After they placed the last two logs, Nebel had told them to lay two logs across the standing poles and lay pieces of logs leading from one to the other.
Since the poles they had put into the ground were of two different sizes, this would slant the resulting roof, assuring that the water wouldn’t collect and ruin the roof. To actually make the roof worth a damn, Nebel had sent off the three soldiers that had just finished bringing the supplies to buy tile shaped metal sheeting and some cement so they could make room for the Pump room and for a little side project Nebel thought might be worth it.
When they arrived with the material, the roof would be finished and the food placed beneath it while they built the walls and Nebel checked out the facility Mitchell had found. Nebel also used his material manipulation to smooth out a flat path between the five places that were being used the most, the southern pass, the woods in the southern part of the valley, the center of the ruined town, the ware house and the spot where the water pumps were being installed, he also made a series of pools out of stone to house the water filters while he was at it and made a non-functioning fountain around Oblivec.
Seeing that he had already completed his part of the current plans and the technician’s headed by the energetic legal loli of a young adult woman, he decided to leave it to them and gathered Rosa and Mitchell to go check out that facility.
Mitchell sat down and thought about something for a little while before leading Nebel and Rosa to a cliff face near the southern pass, there she made a sweeping pointing motion with one hand and said “As far as the map that I recovered from the facility goes, there should be an entrance somewhere here... any ideas?”

Rosa looks around for a bit but eventually gives up while Nebel searches through his pack full of random junk. “I’ve got that pair of glass Marcella gave me somewhere in here... they might be of some help...”
Mitchell started walking along the wall tapping it with her short sword and listening to the sound it made butt she found nothing... “Ahh... I thought that would work... it always works in the legend of *****... I guess that’s only for natural caves...”
Rosa on the other hand started taking some recent frustration out on nearby plants, cleaning a small path to the pass.
A little while later, Nebel finally decided to dump all of his stuff out onto the ground and from there he only had to slowly put everything away to find the glasses. “Here they are!” he says slipping them on and looking around.
The amount of lights in the valley had a different color than the ones in the academy and they seemed to be dimmer, instead of making him worry this detail over joyed him, it had been way too bright when he tried to use them before, as it was now, Nebel could easily just wear them constantly... so he would.
Looking down at himself, he noticed that the ring of moving lights surround him had increased by a good amount, not an incredible amount but enough to make his the equal of Rosa’s. he also noticed the amount of lights around Mitchell had greatly increased from her previously pitiful amount but their speed was the same as before.
From these few observations, Nebel was able to deduce a few things
1- The amount of lights was most likely affected by level, with a possibility that class also affected it.
2- The speed of the lights was most likely due to class and so either unchangeable or requiring a class change... if this game had those.
3- Something in this area affected the power of magic in some way, either blocking it or not giving it the usual strength...
Looking towards the cliff wall he decided to add another one to the list
4- There was no way in hell that they could break their way in...
The whole cliff face was laced with light, it look more like a gigantic flashlight than a cliff... this was most likely some sort of defensive measure, to find out if he was right Nebel tries to manipulate the stone of the cliff... nothing... not even a tiny bit of the stone would liquidize.
“There’s nothing for us here.” Nebel tells them and they leave towards the next closest entrance, Mitchell takes them over the pass and down into the forest so yeah, quite a bit farther from the ware house...
Reaching the spot where she had left the facility earlier Nebel stops her from revealing the entrance and using the glasses, tries to find it himself. Seeing the gigantic wall of light and the amount of lights on this side of the pass being much denser, Nebel is both sure that this is in fact the place and that the valley really has less magic.

Scanning the wall, Nebel notices a break in the pattern of the wall and a small dark spot close to the bottom, walking over to it, Nebel gropes blindly due to all the light blocking out his normal vision and feels his hands touch a branch. Pulling the glasses off, Nebel sees the trees and bushes covering a crack in the cliff.
Pulling them off, he looks back over at Mitchell who gives him a thumbs up. Nodding to himself, Nebel squeezes through the crack and finds himself in a cave. Behind him Mitchell and then Rosa both come through the crack and then with Mitchell in the lead, the trio heads deeper inside.
After a while of walking through the cave and the tunnel, Nebel and Rosa are introduced to the the sight of the altar room. Acting like a tour guide… but secretly erasing the guiding marks she had drawn the first time she was there, Mitchell shows them around, focusing on the walls the columns and the altar itself.
She also briefly showed them the control room and some of its functions and the map of the facility.
“So… let´s study those drawings, instead of being tourists…” Nebel says slightly annoyed when Mitchell starts talking about the grain of the marvelous designs that had been made into the floor.
Walking up to the left most wall, Nebel looks up at the drawings and frowns in thought at the image show on it.
“What´s wrong Nebel…” Mitchell starts to ask “Are you also having problems underst…”
Putting his hand on his forehead Nebel shakes it slowly “No… I was just wondering why you didn´t…”
The images shown on the wall were actually really clear, done in an Ancient Egyptian flat face way with roughly the same poises and lacking backgrounds, Nebel could see, someone simply standing looking at its hand on the first one, the image of the same person building an altar on the second wall and finally that single person holding a ball of flame over its palm in the last one on the right side of the altar room.
“I can´t see how it could be any clearer!” Nebel says looking over at Mitchell “It´s pretty much shouting that magic is a human construct… which I already knew… and that this altar has something to do with its function… the only thing I don´t understand is why they made this place look like a holy sanctum…”
Mitchell and Rosa give him suggestion but Nebel mostly ignores them
“To give it Mystic?” Mitchell half asks…
“Sarcasm?” Rosa also does…
“We can obviously see from the lighting fixtures lining the corridors and lighting the rooms, that the altar was either housed inside of this facility or originally made in it… from that we can deduce that modern humanity either found it and moved it here or built it.” Nebel says mostly to himself “Magic can most likely be controlled by this facility…”
Nebel drops his shoulders and laughs a small laugh “But it actually doesn´t even give us a clue about how to use it…”
Shrugging he turns to a pouting Mitchell and Rosa… they´ll didn´t like being ignored…
“Can you take me to that path we wanted to enter earlier?” he says to Mitchell
Still pouting slightly she answers in the affirmative and leads them back to the corridor´s junction, there she points at one of the paths “That´s the one… but it´s blocked… do you think we can get through?”
Nebel smile´s and nods “Pretty sure! From what I saw from the broken door, the magic blocking shields don´t survive the death of the building.”
Heading down the path, they eventually reach the point where the path was blocked by the roof´s collapse. Using some Material manipulation, Nebel liquidizes the stones blocking the way and moving them up the pile, solidifies them inside the cracked ceiling, strengthen it and assuring that no more rocks can fall through.
He continued doing this for a while and they slowly made headway through the path, but Nebel´s mental condition wasn´t infinite and he had to take breaks fairly frequently. Eventually, liquidized the stones in front of him revealing the path ahead and after finishing the strengthening of the ceiling, the three of them head towards the end of the long path.
“If we can open both of the doors, we should have a direct pathway for our supplies to pass through, we could even place a train rail through it if we keep the cars short… or maybe a conveyer belt…” Nebel lapses into a pensive silence and the two women didn´t want to disturb him even when they had already walked through the natural cave at the end and were now facing the door that would let them out into the valley.
After walking straight into the door itself… Nebel realized they had arrived and turned to Mitchell “Can you open it?”
Mitchell nods and looks at one side of the door for the control panel, finding it, thankfully in good condition, Mitchell starts cranking it, slowly making the door open by rolling up and out of the way.
Getting down on his Knees, Nebel looks under the slowly widening gap and sees a second door, this one the outer one, sinking into the ground unlike the door on the upper chamber of the facility that Mitchell had told him, slid to either side like a gate.
Getting back to his feet, Nebel motions Mitchell away from the crank, using some simple vectors he makes the crank move by itself at a much swifter rate, causing the door to finish opening in under a minute while the first few feet had already taken Mitchell a good five minutes.
Before them they could see valley spread out all the way to the northern pass.
I wrote this one while bored in university enjoy... I can´t really think of anything to comment on it pretty regular chapter nothing to special except for maybe the explanation of the lights nebel can see using the "Sun glasses"
thanks thankers, commenters, raters, reviewers and readers... im kinda bummed that the good reviews haven´t continued.... is my writing that bad?

The Wild Touch
The world of Delmathar has many conflicts and plots that span over the whole world and even into the war torn oceans. That’s not even taking into account that the world is a candidate in the Realm wars… but that’s a story for another day. Instead we will follow the story of how a goddess’s botched attempt of using a weak earth soul to make powerful Grafter for her mother, ends up empowering an unsuspecting little boy. The boy who is called Nosal Brownwhisker, who happens to be a peaceful little buttonless-shirt loving little Capyban. And as the Brownwhisker family tries to juggle their everyday lives on their monster ranch and hiding little Nosal’s secret, more and more developments keep popping up in the village of Pancreedy that makes life more.. interesting. Author’s notes:This is my first fiction and I understand it will suck. Hopefully you will find it to be enjoyable enough to hang around. There’s not going to be any epic world-ending fights or any stuff like that, just some shenanigans generally with the story progressing very slowly as it changes from many viewpoints. The world of Delmathar may seem funky for now so I will promise a glossary every 15 chapters. The wild touch will be updated at least twice a week, with me having no backlog of chapters. So if I get mobbed at work or get sick I will let you know in my notes on a short chapter. I hope you enjoy, and thank you for the people who support me, give me encouragement and pointers.
