《Just For Fun》Chapter 36: Physical Training

Walking into the dojo Nebel greets the muscle bound teacher Dave, “Hey Dave what’s up?”
Dave turns around and sees him “Yo trainee! I heard about some of the things you did!” Dave gives him thumbs up “I particularly love that third thing you did!”
“Thanks, I’m here for some more training!” Nebel tells him
“Yeah I know go right ahead.” Dave says and waves him towards the training weapons.
Reaching the weapon stands Nebel looks out over them before pulling out a Bokken, looking at the wooden katana for a moment Nebel puts it away and picks out the spear. “I’ll leave that for later…”
Wielding the spear he gives it a little spin around the front of his body and opens his skill window.
Abilities WindowVectors :IntermediateHeat Manipulation :The BasicsMaterial Manipulation :The BasicsPermanent Spells:The basics + Personal expertiseRapier:Thrust:25% accuracy, 22% powerSpear:Basic Slashes:70% accuracy, 63% powerWar Hammer:Right Sweep:53% accuracy, 59% powerMovement:Jogging: medium distance, medium speed
He already could learn the next spear techniques… even if he let the rapier one kind of just sit there… and his war hammer ability had also reached the next stage, thanks to his “experiments” with orcs.
Nebel stands still for a moment while holding the spear in the stance he had learned and as expected a display opened up with a video on a new technique. Standing in the same stance Nebel was, right leg forwards left leg a bit back both hands holding the spear with the right one more forwards than the left, the figure shown in the video lets its right hands grip on the spear loosen as the rear hand grips further back and pushes with all its might.
The spear slides forwards quickly and hits the target in the video. The words “Sharp Thrust” appear before the figure once more returns to its ready stance. This time the figure places its right foot even farther forwards as it pushes its arms out in front of it, burying the spears tip deep into the target, once more words appear explaining what kind of thrust it is “Firm Thrust”.
One last time the figure gets into a ready position but this time it does a short dash forwards before falling onto its right and thrusting the spear slightly upwards with both hands leaving the spear head so embedded in its target that it showed the figure struggling to take it out for a bit before giving up its retrieval at which point the video reset, “Heavy Thrust” the words explain in a way that most people will understand.
The sharp thrust was obviously a quick messy thrust that hopefully wouldn’t leave the attacker too open, the firm thrust, while having better power and accuracy than the sharp one, would also take slightly longer to perform and leave the attacker in a worse position if the attack failed, and the Heavy thrust using the strength of the small dash would have far superior power if it hit but the dash would severely lower its accuracy and the final position would definitely leave the attacker open to a counter attack if it missed or if any other enemies were around.

Practicing the moves for a bit, Nebel was able to perform the sharp and firm thrust pretty well… but the heavy thrust left him hitting air or grazing the target at best… the video wasn’t helping either, it actually told him after he grazed the target that it was done teaching him…
“Oh well” Nebel says to himself absent mindedly “I guess that is pretty good for an attack like that one…”
After a practicing the other two attacks for awhile, Nebel switches to a weighted wooden war hammer and wait’s for the video to start.
Once more the figure was on screen but now it was holding the handle of a long war hammer, standing with the hammer head sitting on the ground to its right and both hands gripping the handle. The figure jumps forwards and using the momentum swings the hammer up, around and down straight in front of it and through its target.
Taking the same stance, nebel tries the same motion. Raising the hammer from his right side with a jump like movement, nebel brings it up and when he stops moving the hammer’s momentum drags it forwards and down…. Except that Nebel couldn’t quite resist the force of its movement and instead of delivering a heavy blow to the target he instead was dragged forwards into hitting it with his head.
Luckily head beats paper and nothing happened to Nebel so he continued training for the next three hours to learn the movements asociated with the spear, the war hammer, the rapier… which he practiced first… and have his knowledge of the sword, shield, bow and knives acknowledged by his display.

“Wow what’s the probability…” Rosa mutters to herself as she looks through a small window, which was set in the wall right beside her work space.
Rosa was set to do small jobs around the office while Nebel wasn’t travelling, as much as she hated it she couldn’t say no… she was still in community service for another week…
Today her job was to deal with the most obsolete part of any office… the paper work… but while reaching into her fifth dusty box full of paper to pull out, dust off, touch up and replace them, she noticed a little detail…
While standing over the desk she was given, with her head slightly lowered, she could see out of the office window, clear across the gap betwenn the library buildings and the dojo, and into it through one of the small raised windows that let in light.
There as if framed was Nebel, practicing his close ranged weapon abilities.
So absent mindedly while using some wind magic to blow away the dust covering some documents, Rosa watches Nebel practicing with his fourth weapon of the day. Sometime ago around the end of weapon three, Nebel had taken off his shirt to cool off and Rosa just couldn’t keep her eyes off him.
While not muscular to a body builder or model extent, Nebel’s chest had very little extra flesh on it and his muscles were noticeable, his hair as he usually had it, was tied in a pony tail that bounced around as he practiced different shield bashes and stabs while blocking.

What caught her eye almost as much as that was the fluidity of his movements, none of his motions had any hesitation or uncoordination, the shield on his left arm was lifted smoothly into position just after having completed a shield bash that saw him jump and slice it forwards and down, ripping the target with its edge while pushing it backwards.
After that he pushed the flat of the shield towards it with another shield bash with a stab from the short sword in his hand in a one-two punch kind of way.
…Noticing her supervisor heading her way, Rosa looks back at her work and makes it look like she was inspecting a document for fading… her boss having passed on to the next area Rosa looks back through the window to see the view now blocked… the dojo had closed its windows and its lights had been turned on.
Sad she couldn’t keep watching Rosa goes back to the tedium of her job… at least she had the video she had made as she watched… The devil on her shoulder told her as a white feathered bundle beside it squirmed in its bindings…

Sitting on top of “Bubbles” shoulder Bö hums a tune as he walks through the shopping district of the refugee city.
After she had recovered her consciousness, Bö had left the northwestern frontier with her friend to go see the eastern one! Some of her followers had told her about the army’s plan to march over that way and had asked her for information on the monsters, terrain and weather.
The problem was that the eastern border was, for the most part, completely ignored by the players until just recently, so even her network of players had little information about it. Other than it being volcanic, over all warm and the info from the council meeting about the succubae, there wasn’t anything else.
No locations, “safe” spots for camping, enemy density or water sources were known. So Bö decided it was high time to go there and told her companion to take her there.
Tapping on “Bubbles”’ shoulder, Bö points out a shop to him and he lifts her off of his shoulder to place her on the ground.
Marching over to the shop Bö makes a pose with her hand held high right in the doorway and greets the shopkeeper with a smile and a “Hellllloooo!”.
Today’s outfit consists of a purple witches dress with a black belt, puffy sleeves and a full length hobble/pencil style skirt with cuts down the sides from the knee. On her head Bö has a traditional witch’s hat, purple to match her dress and shoes with the tips ending in coils! In her left hand she was carrying a broomstick, on her right she had a small ring on her ring finger and her hair which usually reached her knees had been made into three braids which were also braided together and was hanging down her front.
The man stares at her outfit for a moment before really noticing her face and height, brushing off his own confusion he asks her “Oh hello missy what can I get you?”
She tosses him her card “I need medicine, eastern border medicines and healing supplies!”
The man pulls out one each of several green bottles which he places on the counter “Well here’s one of each girly will that be alright?” he sticks her card into the reader “They are fairly expensive so let’s see if you have eno…..”
The man stops talking when he sees the number displayed on the card after Bö scans her thumb…
“5….!” He says shocked “Four Zeroes!”
Bö just looks at him and his overreaction “Do you have any more, sir? I’m not sure how many I’m going to need…”
The man starts to pull out more, slowly emptying his supply with Bö motioning for him to keep it coming “How… does a little… girl….. like you get that much money!?” he says between movements.
“Oh that…” she says thinking with her index finger on her chin “Let’s see… adventuring with my brother, mutant bounties, presents from guys from my school and donations to my information site… I think that about sums it up mister!”
The man finishes taking out all of his medicine, sorting them, counting them and ringing it up and hands it all in a large bag to “Bubbles” who had entered the shop when he saw the size of the bag, which rivaled Bö’s own size.
“Well here you go missy… Come back soon!” the man says… even if her visit was a bit surprising, it was still his best sale that week.
“I think I’ll come back after this trip!” Bö says before leaving the shop with her friend.
Outside the shop he places her once more on his shoulder and they continue on their way, his large strides eat up the ground and they are soon out of sight, Bö using her free time opens her sight and adds the man’s shop to her list of frequented stores… little did the man know his store was really going to take off now.
