Chapter Ten: Pets Part One
Vanessa clings to my arm, looking hilariously small in comparison, as we walk back to Carcajou’s lot. She hums sweetly as we walk, and I’m just enjoying the sensation of her pressing her body into my arm, and the more I walk with her the more aware I become of her body. I find some small, barely noticeable things she does like her heart slightly quickening when I moved a little closer into her grasp, and her quiet breathing got faster when she feels my gaze. But others things that are much more noticeable, like for example the moment she grabbed my arm I could feel two nubs on my arm from her chest, and her unconsciously, or maybe consciously, taking deep breaths of my scent.
Though I also feel something different as we walk that’s different from her horniness, and that’s the fact she’s holding back a shit ton by just even walking with me. I could feel it in her muscles as she walks with the tension they give off and the sheer power she could release, the kind that would put me and Mar’s class individuals to shame. In her breathing with how controlled and efficient it is, that’s on par with top class fighters. And then there’s her aura, It collides with mine as we move and I could feel that it’s deep like a sinkhole, very dense being compact like someone took a mountain of iron and forced it into Vanessa’s size and form, and anytime I probed it with my own it got cut off.
Beside the superior stats, that’s the real difference between Mars and Vanessa in fighting strength, she has control over her aura and Mars does not. Anyway feeling Vanessa’s superior strength over me, I’d like to say I’m humbled but I’m not. I’ve always been aware that there are people that can crush me like a bug, I mean I could name a dozen or two off the top of my head, so It didn’t matter to me that Vanessa is among them. I’d reach them eventually, and now I know a key to getting there, I’d have to work on my control of my aura.

The walk to Carcajou’s took longer than last time but it’s not like we’re in a hurry in the first place. By the time it got in viewing distance I could make out a form my the gate. Walking further I see that it’s the butler who’s tapping his foot impatiently and looking at his watch with a frown. I made sure not to pick up my pace and kept walking to the butler at the same speed with Vanessa, and his impatient tapping increases. I laugh at the butler as his frown becomes a scowl but he says nothing till we’re practically standing in front of him.
He doesn’t stop scowling as we stand in front of him, but he speaks politely and quickly “The pets are in the boxes, read the notes the Master has left inside.” Then he left going back into the lot and not making a sound.
Vanessa rush to the boxes immediately after the butler left, and I follow. I pick up the larger one with my name on it, and Vanessa takes the other one. She holds the box close to her chest and staring at it warmly. Feeling like going home I decide to wrap this up and say “We'll see you Vanessa.” She barely registers my goodbye before disappearing. Well that’s a bit rude, but I’m just ready to go back to my tent and rest. Now that I think about it, I haven’t been back to my tent in like a week I hope no one has tried to take my tent, no wait I hope they have so I can beat them whoever they may be.
Getting back to my lot didn’t take very long, but I found myself with a bit of confusion, my tent is gone and now has a shack in its place. A the shack is pretty shoddy looking, but I wouldn’t know till I went go in. Going in its just big enough for a bed my size and a chest at the bottom. I look around for any traps or anything but find nothing, but a note.

It reads “My dear brute,
I have had this shack built in congratulation for you beating a trainer, and a reminder to the benefits to those with wealth. I also like to say I have had my minions look after your property while you were incapacitated.
Best wishes Acelin Dis”
That’s nice and all, but... who in the blazing hells is Acelin Dis!? I’d have to ask Damon later if he’s not facing murder charges… Or maybe Julian he might know.
I push the thoughts out of my mind and tested out the bed and found it awesome. Being both soft to be comfortable, but firm enough not to sink in. I’d have to thank whoever this Acelin guy is.
Getting comfortable on the bed, I could feel my eyes slowly but surely closing and sleep getting closer to me. My eyelids close, and I could feel the dream sprites take me. But then a ungodly screech tore my eyelid open, I look around for whatever could make such a horrible noise. Looking around I check for more traps, but the noise wouldn’t go away.
I kept looking inside and outside, but I couldn’t find what’s making such a noise. Walking back into the shack the screech got louder, and louder as I made my way near my bed, so I look under and around it, and get closer to the noise. I found it a box, and when I open the box I find what's screeching. I look in to find the wolf and kitten screeching their lungs out… oh yeah I need to feed them. I get out Carcajou’s note and read it, and then I feel the blood drain out of my face. I’d need to feed these guys eight times a day...

MERTICORE
Meet Ian. Ian is an IT consultant who accepted a supposedly impossible job for an incredible amount of money. However, he quickly learns why his colleagues avoided that gig like the plague. Ian now hates his job, and wants to be fired to get severance pay. However, things don’t go as planned when he downloads MERTICORE, a mysterious program that popped out of nowhere. After that, the life of Ian has changed drastically. Gone are the days of drinking bad coffee while staring at a screen. His days are now filled with magic, fighting weird creatures and even weirder people. Let’s not even mention the comrades he collects along the way, which are more often than not worse than the (numerous) enemies he makes as he bumbles through alternate dimensions. There’s also a disturbing number of laundromats for some reason. Release Schedule: One or two long(2.5k+ words) chapters per week, maybe more depending on real life.

The Harrowbird's Crown
(Formerly: Tales of a Harrowed House) Synopsis: This is the tale of an exiled royal family who, after their bloody reunion on the island of Providence, return to a war-torn homeland where once more, powerful forces pit sibling against sibling in a bid for the crown — and once more, the magical streets of Auctor echo their infamous motto: “Fire will Reign as Harrowbirds Soar!” From his humble beginnings as a shoemaker’s son, his year spent as a daringly brazen orphan caught between rivaling Houses and a mad ghost, and his fight for the crown after his return to Auctor, Corbyn faces a coming-of-age story unlike any before him as he discovers magic and birthright are two things he never knew he had. From the intimate narrative of a childhood that was never her own, her year spent struggling to find the person she is rather than the person her family needs her to be, the secrets she hides, and the truths she finds, Halle discovers herself on the fabled island of Providence as her House collapses around her, bids to enter a legendary school of magic in her homeland of Auctor, and fights for a crown she never knew she wanted. A high-action, character-focused story written with a poet’s styling, The Harrowbird’s Crown is a tale that will transport readers into the conflict and conquest of a royal family back on the rise. General Information: This story is more traditionally plotted. While the beginning may seem to start out slowly, when shit hits the fan: the action is constant, the mysteries are satisfying, and the character development is rewarding. Chapters are usually between 2.5-3.5 thousand words (though some, like the first and second chapters, can run up to 5k words). When it’s long it means that the chapter will just have that much content in it. There’s Action, Mystery, Fantasy, Comedy, and some Psychological undertakings. Romance hasn’t come up yet, but it may in future chapters. I try to have chapters out every Sunday at 7:00 CST Book One: The Ghost of Providence
