《Fighting God》Chapter 52 - Fight and Defeat

Upon hearing this outburst, Bredon turned around in annoyance. Mel, who was angered by the rude and arrogant attitude the person before him had shown towards his sister, was furious to the point that veins bulged from his temple. He glared at the young master before him and gripped his shoulder tightly. Bredon shrugged his shoulder and slapped Mel's hand away. He sneered at Mel and growled.
"What the fuck do you want?"
"You're making my sister uncomfortable. Leave!" Mel spat in anger.
"Fucking trash! How dare you speak to the young master like that? Do you want to die?" One of Bredon's lackeys snarled as he stepped forward with his magic staff raised.
Mel pretended to wince as he rubbed his ears. "You need to train your pathetic dogs more. They bark too much."
"What!?"
Bredon held up his hand and silenced the people beside him. Then, he glared at Mel and leered. "If you don't want to become crippled, you should mind your own business."
He turned to Dora and continued. "Many girls line up to have a chance with me. You should be honored for me to have my eyes set on you."
"Thanks but no thanks. You're not my type." Dora rejected with a humph.
Bredon's eyes narrowed as his expression stiffened a bit. No one has ever rejected him...no one. Though Bredon showed some anger after the rejection, he quickly changed his expression and grinned. "Interesting."
Mel couldn't stand to be ignored once again and placed himself between Bredon and Dora. He raised his hands and pushed the young master back. "Back off!"
"Do you think I won't beat the shit out of you?" Bredon pointed as his face burned with annoyance.
"Who's afraid of who? Bring it on!"
Generally, fights were ignored by the teachers of the academy. They view that fighting was a good way for conflicting students to solve problems and gain battle experience. As long as no one was severely injured or killed, the teachers would turn a blind eye. As if experienced in such situations, Bredon followed Mel as he led them towards a large clearing. Dora, Tanya, Stent, as well as Bredon's lackeys followed after them to watch. A couple of passerbys also heard the commotion and stopped to watch the fight. Some whispering to each other about who would win. Mel and Bredon both ignored the gossip and focused on each other. They had begun circling each other, fists raised and trying to spot an opening to attack. Suddenly, Mel saw that Bredon's right arm was slightly lower than before. Chance! Mel lunged forward and thrust out his palm, a red aura enveloping his arm. This was known as Fire Enhance - an enhancement magic typically used to enhance weapons and armor with fire-based abilities and protection. For Mel to be able to use this magic on his own body proves how capable he was in Fire Magic.

The enveloped palm darted forth and almost landed on Bredon's chest, however, as if he was expecting it, Bredon quickly parried the arm with his left and twirled around quickly to unleash a sharp chop with his right. Mel dodged the chop attack and smashed his left fist forward. A loud boom erupted as his fist connected with Bredon's left arm. The young master couldn't withstand Mel's explosive power and retreated a few steps while rubbing his numb arm.
"Pretty good." Bredon muttered, a weird smile emerging from his face.
"Ha! I'll show you more!" Mel threw out a couple of more straights and hooks at his opponent who somehow seemed to easily dodge them.
As Mel lunged forward sharply and punch out a right straight, Bredon suddenly jumped high in the air and attacked Mel with a spinning kick. Mel saw the attack and flipped back to avoid. However, as soon as he flipped back, a powerful gust of wind collided into him, blowing him off balance. As he landed on his butt, he realized the gust of wind was from Bredon. The spinning kick turned out to be a feint! Not wanting to be put at a disadvantage, Mel hurriedly scrambled to his feet and assumed a defense stance. He carefully observed the older boy in front of him, keeping close attention at his opponent's body movements.
As Mel tracked Bredon's movements, the older boy stepped out with his right foot and with a spurt of energy...he disappeared! No! This was an Apprentice level wind-based skill called Wind Walk! Wind Walk was considered a strong movement spell that allowed the users to move as fast as the wind. However, that didn't mean the move was overpowered. It had a weakness. Wind Walk allowed the user to move like the wind, however, it did not change the direction of natural wind. Thus, sometimes, when the user moved in the direction opposite to the direction of the natural wind, he or she could cause some fluctuations that can be sensed by people with some perception skills. Thus, Mel scanned his surroundings and tried his utmost to detect where his opponent went.
Suddenly, he noticed a small fluctuation in the air to his right. The fluctuation, though slight, was edging behind him. Mel sneered at the typical strategy Bredon was trying to do. Mel raised up his fist and sharply opened it, bursting intense fire magic from his palm. He threw the fireball over his shoulder and spun around. The fireball smashed into Bredon, causing him to grunt and reveal himself. As the older boy patted himself to rid his body of the flames, Mel darted towards him and kneed him with a flying knee to the chest. Bredon tumbled back and rolled a couple of times before smashing into a nearby tree.
Mel roared in victory and smirked at the fallen boy. "Had enough? If so, scram!"

However, an eerie laugh answered him. Bredon, seemingly uninjured, rose from the crash site and walked towards Mel as he dusted his clothes. The older boy rubbed his neck and cracked a few knuckles. "How weak! Your attacks only sting a bit. Did you not eat or something? Or is this all you got?"
Mel roared once more and threw fireball after fireball at Bredon. The older boy dodged the fireballs as he walked towards Mel, all along while laughing and commenting on how insignificant Mel's attacks were. Initially, Mel's friends were cheering after seeing how Mel was having the upper hand, but when Bredon admitted that he was just toying with Mel and that he was just testing the kid's capabilities, they became worried. Could Bredon be telling the truth? Was he really testing Mel's limits?
The more Mel missed, the more worried he got and the more worried he got, the angrier he became. Despite unable to land another hit, Mel continued to attack. Mel cupped his hands to his mouth and inhaled sharply. As soon as his lungs reached their limits, he gathered fire magic to his mouth and blew deeply. Fire emerged from his mouth and sprayed all over Bredon, who had quickly lifted his arms up and swooshed a draft of air upwards. The "Wind Wall" was barely able to block Mel's "Fire Breath". Once the fire attack dispersed, Bredon noticed that Mel wasn't in front of him anymore. He surveyed his surroundings using both his ears and his eyes. The older boy was able to expertly locate Mel's position by the sound of his footsteps and turned to counter any attacks coming his way.
BOOM!
Mel's raging right uppercut smashed upwards into Bredon's jaw, knocking him flying towards unconsciousness...or at least that's what he had planned to happen. However, contrary to his expectations, his opponent had turned towards him all of a sudden and swiftly caught the uppercut. With one hand caught in what felt like an iron grip, his entire right side became defenseless! Bredon pushed forward with an open-palm attack and connected at Mel's side. A creaking sound emitted from the young Dragonfire and a groan of pain erupted from his mouth. Mel slumped down onto the ground, his hands clutching his side as he writhed in agony. It felt like his entire insides had been scrambled by Bredon's palm attack. This could not be any ordinary attack.
"Painful isn't it? This is one of my Vyndol family's special martial skill - Raging Cyclone of the Cyclone Fist. You probably won't be able to move for a day or two." Bredon sneered as he continued to kick the collapsed boy.
"Mel! You bastard! Stop it!" Stent roared as he saw Bredon continue to beat his collapsed roommate.
Bredon kicked Mel to the side and met Stent's charge with a flying kick. The sharp kick embedded into the lumbering giant's stomach, knocking him down. Stent groaned in pain as he curled up on the ground. Bredon looked around at the bystanders and raised his hands in arrogance.
"Who else wants to interfere?"
All of the passerbys who had stopped to watch earlier immediately turned their heads and left. In less than a minute, only Mel's friends and Bredon's lackeys were left. Seeing that no one was going to intervene, Bredon continued to kick the two collapsed boys. Dora stepped out and pleaded for the older boy to stop. When he did not, Dora reached out and held onto his hand. Bredon turned his attention towards the young girl and said one word...beg.
Dora's expression stiffened at the word. She was a child of the Dragonfire family - one of the more noble families in the country. For her to kneel and beg...would humiliate not only her but also her family. When Bredon saw her hesitation, he raised his foot and prepared to stomp on Stent's leg. The glint in his eyes clearly showed his intention to cripple the child of the O'Rian family. Right before the stomp made contact, a thudding sound burst out and a gasp could be heard. Dora had fell to her knees. She didn't want Stent to become crippled...she didn't want him to be thrown under the carriage for her mess. Dora glanced at Bredon, her glaring eyes gradually softened to a plead.
Seeing her pleading expression, Bredon smiled. "Much better."
"N-Now will you let them go?" Dora asked tentatively, a tired look emerging from her pale face.
"Hmmm, go on a date with me."
"T-That...."
"Bredon, don't go overboard!" Tanya managed to respond after bringing up what little courage she had, but she quickly shrank back as one of Bredon's lackeys raised a fist towards her.
"Well?" The older boy asked expectantly. Dora's lip quivered slightly as her eyes welled up. After a moment, she silently and reluctantly agreed.
"Hahaha! That wasn't so hard. I'll be waiting for you by your dorm tomorrow after class."
With a wave of his hand, the young master of the Vyndol family departed from the scene, his lackeys following closely after him. After Bredon left, tears began to uncontrollably roll down Dora's eyes. She wavered a bit before swooning over. Tanya rushed over and hugged Dora. She held the young girl up as they walked over to Mel and Stent. Tanya bent down and checked on the two boys' injuries before the two girls helped them to the infirmary.

Our Shattered Realms
*This is a learning experience for me so please keep in mind that I am attempting to work on some of the issues brought to my attention early on. However I haven't yet gone back to redo the early chapters.* Less than two days ago every piece of electronics in the world stopped working for more than two hours. The death toll was immense. Hospital equipment failed, cars stopped in the middle of the street, planes fell from the sky, and homework was lost at the worst possible moment. We found out that it was just the flicker and hum of The System warming up. Now we see the true cost of our new world. A Dark comedy that focuses on a few of the many people who aren't stuck in a high level dungeon when our world is translated and joined to Our Shattered Realms. This is my first story that I have published. I welcome any criticism that you have for me. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!

Unto Dark
A man of cripplingly ill mind, bridled with the spirits and regrets of the past. Wade Pierce trudges through each day of his monochrome existence, only as penance for his sins. Such a man is abruptly decamped of this world courtesy of unapologetic forces, left stranded in a realm filled with unknowns. Armed only with his potent yet fragile intellect, Wade advances into this new abyss, as he attempts to rewrite the wrongs he has committed. Plagued by vile beasts, self-righteous Gods, and even his own seething darkness, the cracks in his mind begin to spread and a dangerous, newfound power bubbles beneath the surface. As the world grows darker day by day, this unfortunate journey begins ------------ I suppose rectitude dictates that I should state any themes worthy of noting here. First of all, this story is not a sunshiny one in the slightest. Since it is listed under the psychological and mature tag and not the comedy tag, that shouldn't be a surprise. Next, morbidity is a factor and general apathy towards human life. All of these are common themes amongst other writers, so nothing new there. The story also contains consensual, and non-consensual sexual activity, although I have tried to be as tasteful as is possible for someone like myself. Finally, the pace is drawn-out, and the language is magniloquent at times. Not to mention, the chapters are quite lengthy. Don't expect to read this halfheartedly... Other than that, enjoy the story... There's nothing more important than that...
