《Gotta Gacha》Chapter 11: The Storm

On my mark the numerous Flesh Devil’s hidden among the party goers began slaughtering the unsuspecting guards around the village perimeter. The guards were mostly comprised of villagers and volunteers stationed atop of a few houses. Their job consisted of looking out for any late night perverts, and making sure nothing dangerous approached the village.

It’s a shame that the village didn’t have any proper guards, maybe then these watchmen wouldn’t have fallen asleep due to the sedatives. But I suppose this works in our favor doesn’t it?

I opened up my minimap and watched as several white dots suddenly vanished in the perimeter of the village, and a numerous red dots began to scurry inside under the cover of the night.

“Master, Phase 1 is complete the guards and watchmen have been dealt with” (Stella)

Good, move on with the plan, kill everyone in the perimeter and anyone hiding in the houses.

“Very well” (Stella)

Now let’s see, I observed the minimap, and watched as a small group of red dots serving as the vanguard led a massive group of red dots. And if he’s following the plan that should be the Goblin Lord and the Goblin Elites.

They’re systematically killing any men in sight, while silencing any women that catches their eyes. Hopefully they can get to the center of the village before anyone notices, but if they can’t it will be fine if they can do an adequate amount of damage.

Anymore would be asking too much from them, they only have so many Hobgoblins, and Goblins aren’t the most intellectual creatures out there. As a matter of fact, I’d rather have had them blot the sky with arrows before charging in to finish them off, but where would we even get all those arrows? And we’d have to take some time to train all these goblins too shoot.

Besides the Goblin Lord would never agree to it, such an assault would indiscriminately kill the women and children, though they don’t have any particular qualms about killing the children. But according to the Adventurer Guild’s records they’ve found a number of children, girls and boys alike, being raised in the Goblin’s Caves.

So I ended up promising to spare any women, and children. And apparently I’ll receive something for every woman, and child I send over so that’s a plus. They don’t give too much EXP anyway.

Now, I suppose I should get to work too, it won’t be long before they’re spotted and this ends up turning into a large skirmish; one we’re destined to lose.

So I pull out the Robe of Acoctyle and put it on over the leather armor I’ve had since the beginning. I move around a little to get used to the rather stuffy robe, and pulled the large hood over my head, covering my face.

The robe itself isn’t too heavy, but it’ll definitely get in the way. But if I don’t want anyone to recognize me I’ve got no other choice, besides robes like these are rather helpful in concealing weapons. And that reminds me, De-Activate Humanification

Now, let’s see, “Master”, Stella messaged me, “The perimeter's clear, all the men are dead. All the women, and children captured.” (Stella)

Oh good job, we don’t need any more Flesh Devil’s so just send them over to the Goblins. Remember to mark them.

“Very well” (Stella)

So let’s…..

“It’s Goblins!” (Villager)

“It’s a Raid!” (Villager 2)

“Get your weapons!” (Adventurer)

Oh that was fast, they already noticed.

“Master” (Stella)

Stella, what is it now?

“I’m sure you’ve heard the screams, may I request permission to join the fray?” (Stella)

Personally? No, you must remain in position, command the Flesh Devil’s and if it comes to it just kill the goblins. As for the other Flesh Devils, have them collaborate with the Adventurer’s until they gain the upper hand. You may attack them then, and make sure you kill as many Adventurers you can.

“By your command, but I’d like to ask about a little something.” (Stella)

What?

“If we ever get the chance, and we’re alone with an unguarded target are we allowed to eat them”(Stella)

No

“But Master….” (Stella)

We can’t afford it, we can’t have anyone seeing your true forms.

“But what if we do it when no one’s around” (Stella)

No

“Fine…” (Stella)

“You’re a worry wart you know.” (Giri)

I’m just cautious, I’m not like those Heroes you spoke of. The more people who know who I am, the worse it will get for me. Especially with what I’ve done so far.

“Are you regretting it?” (Giri)

It’s too early to regret anything, now shut up I need to get to work.

“Rude” (Giri)

Now then, I looked through my minimap and made my way over to two white dots, stuck between two houses. I silently approached them with Camouflage activated, and peered around the corner of the wall with my machete in hand.

“Nick….no….don’t...aah...the village….there’s a raid we need to….” (Village Girl)

“Don’t worry, we’ve fended off raids time and time again. And they picked an especially bad time to attack the village, we’ve got so many more Adventurer’s with us, what’s there to be afraid of?” (Village Guy)

“But, out in the open like this... that’s…aaaah~”(Village Girl)

“Come on, no one’s watching, besides look how wet you are already.” (Village Guy)

“Don’t act like you don’t like it, look how wet you are.” (Village Guy)

“Aaaah~” (Village Girl)

The two were a pair of young lovers intertwined together, passionately making heated love in the night. They, drunk on the food, booze, and atmosphere, were wildly making love atop of a wooden crate, ignorant of the encroaching danger.

The two interlocked legs, and passionately thrust, thrust, and thrust, forcing the young woman too let out one muffled moan after another.

“Aaaaah~” (Village Girl)

“I’m, I’m cummin-” (Village Guy)

“No, not, inside! Eh!? Nick?” (Village Girl)

The young woman watched as the young man’s body fell atop of hers, “Nick? Hey, Nick. Nick, wake up Nick! What’s wrong? Nick, wake up!” (Village Girl)

The young woman frantically tried to wake the young man up, and to her surprise she found her hands were stained with blood. And she stared blankly stared at the young man’s shirt, soaked with his own blood.

And just as she was about to scream, I cast a spell I recently learned, “[Silence]”

And no matter how she struggle, the young woman was unable say a single world. She looked up at me, crying, her eyes stared at the man who killed her love. She stared at me with intense hatred, but more importantly fear, a sight I’ve become rather accustomed too.

She desperately tried to cry out, and she began pushing her former lover away from her body in attempt to get even a centimeter further from me. But it was useless, they were locked at the hip, and behind her was a wall. There was nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, and no one to save her.

And the closer I got to her, the more desperately she struggled. She turned to the wall behind her, and with the young man still attached to her tried to claw her way up the walls.

“This is…..” (Giri)

The norm really, I cast another new spell I learned, “[Bind]”

I’ll leave her to the Goblins. I walked up to the young man, and snatched a small pouch hanging off his belt and stuffed it in my inventory. Then I extracted the throw knives of his corpse, and threw him to the side.

I turned to the young woman, “You’ve been a wonderful test subject” (Blade)

I cut a small X into her right shoulder, and dragged her out to the streets half naked. So the range of Bind and Silence is still pretty short huh….

I need to be rather close to use Bind, and it takes a few seconds before the spell itself is complete. While Silence has a range of a few meters. I suppose all I can do is practice.

I looked through my minimap, and spotted a few more stragglers, so a went over and kill them. There were only a bunch of Adventurers, so capture was unnecessary.

“How are the Goblin’s doing?” (Giri)

Hmm? That’s a good question, it’s about time we head over as well. I messaged Stella, How are things over on your side.

“The Goblin’s aren’t doing so well, the townsfolk grouped up, and began fighting with the Adventurer’s and the Adventurer Guild Director is putting up quite a fight.” (Stella)

Is that so? I’ll head over. How many Flesh Devil’s do you have left.

“Only 10, however six are in the town’s perimeter. I had them move inwards, and attack the houses with people in them.” (Stella)

I don’t remember telling you to do that.

“Master, I thought it was in our best interest” (Stella)

And how’s that worked out so far?

“We’ve located a number of men, women, and children. And we’ve killed and captured them all.” (Stella)

I see, then I won’t scold you for now. Remain on stand by, I’ll head over in a bit. I cut the link, and quickly made my way over to the center of the village, and climbed a nearby house.

Let’s see the Goblin’s seemed to have lost quite a few men, there are corpses lying all over the ground, while the village seems to have lost quite a bit of men as well. There’s a large number of corpses on the ground, but they seem to be holding out of the most part.

But why are they so far apart from each other? Is it a precaution against the Flesh Devils? But it’s making it far harder for them to fend of the numerous Goblins by themselves.

Actually, how come there’s so few Goblins? I only see like 30 to 40 corpses, but there are only about 70 Goblins out there right now.

I opened up my minimap, and to my surprise there were a bunch of red dot’s scurrying all over the village, those bastards…

“Well, it is a raid.” (Giri)

Well, I suppose it can’t be helped, I should have added a few more lines into the contract. There’s nothing I can do about it now, though I’ll probably lose a level in the process.

I climbed down, and noticed a number of Goblin’s being sent flying by a heavy greatsword. That’s the Adventurer Guild Director, right?

“Yep” (Giri)

He’s stronger than I anticipated, to think he’d be this strong even under the influence of all those sedatives. They won’t last long at this rate, and I doubt I can stop him either…

I pulled out the single shot pistol I brought over from Earth. With this I might be able to kill him, but that’s a maybe…

And even if I assume he doesn’t have any countermeasures for bullets this is still a low-caliber pistol It was never meant to be shot from a distance, but from up close. I’d have to be about 5 meters or closer to ensure a killing blow, but even then I’d have to land a headshot in a flurry of those absurdly fast swings. That’s….

“Human!” (Goblin)

I turned my head, and a goblin was jumping at me with a knife in hand. What a fool, I’m your ally. I swung my machete instantly severing his head from his shoulders.

“And yet you still killed him” (Giri)

“Hello?”(Giri)

He was level 9 correct?

“According to the log he is, why?” (Giri)

And I’m level 23, easily over double his own. And with just a strike I instantly severed his head from his shoulders. He couldn’t even last a second simply due to the disparity between our levels.

“Yeah, besides you have far more experience than him too.”(Giri)

Then would this happen to me? With his speed how long would it take him to cover the meager distance of a few meters, what are the chances that I’ll be able to hit him even then? What are the chances that it can even kill him?

“Umm, that’s…” (Giri)

Don’t bother, the disparity between us is too great. My experience is useless here, this isn’t world of nanomachines, guns, and superhumans. It’s a world of swords and magic, a fantasy world I simply unable to comprehend.

If I fight him now, I’ll die.

“But what about the raid? At this rate won’t the raid fail?” (Giri)

Fail? For the goblins maybe, but even with all these casualties this is a wonderful achievement in their eyes. Just how many houses do you think they’ve looted by now, how many children and women have they kidnapped?

As for me I’ve already leveled up twice, and I’m sure I’ll level up once or twice before the end of the raid. The raid is a success, for both of us. But….

“But?” (Giri)

How do I put this, it doesn’t feel right to leave it just at this.

“Eh? That’s not like you.” (Giri)

I know. If I joined the fray right now I could easily take out a few dozen Adventurers, and with the Goblin’s help we could easily take out over twice that amount but then what? How are we going to fight that bastard?

“Are you afraid?”

Who knows, I don’t particularly understand it really. Is this what fear feels like? Am I even capable of feeling fear at this point? I don’t particularly understand the concept of fear either…

It’s something I’ve just become accustomed to, not feeling of course but seeing. I’ve seen the dying, the diseased, the starving, the crying. I’ve seen fear in all their eyes, fear mixed with despair, hatred, hope, and maybe a few other things. But in the end it would all disappear, clouded over by death itself....

This really isn’t like me.

“Yeah. So what are you going to do?” (Giri)

I can’t leave it like this. The risks are high, and the chance that I’ll succeed is frighteningly low, but that doesn’t matter to me right now. Something’s telling me I can’t let it end here...

Giri!

“Y-Yes!” (Giri)

Put everything I’ve got into agility.

I opened up the Gotta Gacha app, and tapped on the Silver Weapon Gacha which cost the large sum of 300 Gacha Coins twice.

Flaming Flail N+A flail that’s been enchanted with fire magic enabling it to burn anyone it touches, including the user.

[Ancient Dwarvern Musket R-A long musket forged from Dwarven Steel, created with absolutely exquisite craftsmanship. But due to the passage of time this musket has been damaged, it's incapable of exerting it's true power and it's accuracy has dropped. If you can find a Dwarven Blacksmith to repair it, it can be restored to it's former state.[/td4

Musket requires no gunpowder as it's powered off of mana. Come's per-loaded with a single Musket ball.

Tch, there’s only one shot. But this means I’ve got 2 shots at killing that bastard.

I moved over and selected the Silver Ability Gacha, priced at 250 Gacha Coins, and the Gold Item Gacha, priced at 200 Gacha Coins, clicking both once.

[td4]Flare NA light magic that creates a large flash of light. Caution indiscriminately blinds everyone, including the user.

NotificationDue to your Race’s characteristics if you are caught in Flare’s affects you will not only be blinded for a brief moment, but receive damage and be in a weakened state for a period of time.

Super Flashy Coin RA Coin that’s so flashy that it’s effects are basically magical, mainly because it’s a curse. In your hands it means nothing, but if you throw it on the ground anywhere everyone in the surroundings except for yourself will be forced to look at it. Item can be re-used.Due to the Super Flashy Coin's inherent nature this skill has been provided to make collection of the coin easier

Well there goes all my Gacha Coins.

“You’ll get more eventually.” (Giri)

Yeah yeah, I head over to the Goblins, and activate Monstra Translate “Goblin Lord!” (Blade)

The large horde of Goblins turned towards me, and the large red Goblin Lord jumped out of the crowd, “Oh you’re finally here.” (Goblin Lord)

“I’ve been busy, now help me kill that bastard over there.” (Blade)

I pointed at the Guild Branch Director maniacally swinging his large great sword.

“Why didn’t you tell me there was a monster like him, he’s killed over twenty of us alone.” (Goblin Lord)

“Well, I didn’t know he was this much of a monster…” (Blade)

And if I told you, you probably wouldn’t have agreed to help me raid the village. Besides I need you guys too die too.

“Now help me take him down, bring your best men.” (Blade)

“Fine, let’s go!”(Goblin Lord)

The Goblin Lord quickly began sending out orders and only a minute three hobgoblins came to his side. A female hobgoblin, a bulky hobgoblin close to the Goblin Lord’s size, and a rather average sized hobgoblin missing an arm.

The goblin lord introduced them, “This is Mai, Ren, and Tai. Just call me Zil” (Zil)

“Those are some odd names” (Blade)

“We’re different races what did you expect, Demon?” (Zil)

“Nothing really, and feel free to call me whatever you want.” (Blade)

“Let’s go.” (Zil)

And with Zil in the front, we charged straight into a group of Adventurers and villagers. Zil jumped straight in, and cleaved a village right in half before sending a few Adventurers flying backwards. While Mai pulled out two small crossbows, and began shooting them one after another at people's legs, and feet.

As for Ren and Tai, Ren would charge in with an axe in one hand and a hammer in the other. He’d smash apart anyone’s defense with brute force, and forget blocking he didn’t even bother parrying any attacks coming his way. He’d either block it with his thick skin or armor, or just smash their weapon to pieces.

While Tai would run around quickly stabbing people in the back, or cutting people's wrists, necks, and ankles.

And in under a minute they took out a group of nine Adventurers and villagers by themselves.

“Aren’t they neglecting defense a little too much?” (Giri)

Yeah, they’re lucky they aren’t against anyone too skilled. Even with their level of strength brute force like that can only take you so far. Though even I’d have some trouble fighting against the four of them in my current state.

Now, why don’t I earn my keep. I followed them charge straight into another group comprised of a few villagers, about four Adventurers, and two Archers. And as the four of them violently clashed with the Adventurous and villagers, I snuck by them and threw a few of my throwing knives at the Archers.

And as I closed in on them in a matter of seconds, I swung my machete down beheading both of them.

“We need some help over here!” (Adventurer)

An Adventurer behind me called out, and a small group of Adventurers charged out from the defensive line fighting back the number of Goblins recklessly charging in.

I pulled my throwing knives out of the Adventurer’s lifeless corpses, and charged straight into the small group of four Adventurer’s. I threw my throwing knives once again, but one of the Adventurer’s jumped in front with a shield formed out of bones and knocked them away.

I threw my machete straight into my inventory, and grabbed the Flaming Flail. I abruptly stopped and slammed the flail straight into the Adventurer’s bone shield crushing it and his arm causing him to fall to his knees.

I pulled the heavy flail back, making sure not to hit myself with it, and threw it at the Adventurers head turning it into a smoking bloody mess.

The other Adventurers looked on with fear, but quickly calmed themselves and circled me. So I put the flail back and opted for the machete. And as the three Adventurers simultaneously attacked me, swinging their swords and axes. I looked straight down towards the ground, and raised my hand upwards casting my new skill, Flare.

I immediately crouched down, and kicked all three of them down. Then I quickly stabbed each of them in the heart.

CongratulationsYou Leveled Up. You have received 50 Gacha Coins, and 5 Status and Skill Points.

Giri put it into agility again.

“You bastard!”, a few more Adventurer’s turned around and charged at me in a fit of rage only to be stabbed in the back by a nearby goblin.

You can’t be ignoring your enemy now, even if they are weaker than you. I threw a blood stained throwing knife straight through his skull, and watch as his lifeless body fell to the floor.

“Careful that’s a Goblin Lord! All D-Classes back the hell up! C-Classes group up and protect the weaker Adventurers. I’ll take care of this.” (Guild Branch Director)

I turned around, “Looks like we got their attention, you ready?” (Blade)

“Not really, but it’s not like I have any other choice.” (Zil)

“You could always run away” (Blade)

“And leave my men to die? Like hell I’d do that, we may be one of the minor races, but we have our own pride too.” (Zil)

“Is that so?” (Blade)

I turned back around, and Owen slowly walked over with his heavy greatsword. Mai shot a few crossbow bolts at him, but he simply blocked them with the broadside of his sword. He’s able to move that sword around rather quickly despite it’s size.

“You over there, are you the one who instigated all those people?” (Guild Branch Director)

I deactivated Monstra Translate, “Me? Why of course.” (Blade)

“So tell me, those horns you’re a Demon aren’t you?” (Guild Branch Director)

“And what if I am?” (Blade)

“Then, let me ask you this. Why are you doing all of this?” (Blade)

“Why? Well, I don’t have one particular reason, it’s just something that needed to be done.” (Blade)

“Why though? Was it a Demon King’s order? One of his generals? One of their captains?” (Guild Branch Director)

“No ones.” (Blade)

“Is that so? Well I thank you for humoring me. My name’s Owen by the way, I hope you’ll remember the name of the one who killed you in the afterlife.(Blade)

I reactivated the skill, “Zil, Ren, Tai hold him in place!” (Blade)

“Don’t give us orders! Do you have a way to deal with him?” (Zil)

“Yeah, now go!” (Blade)

The five of us charged towards him, when suddenly Owen burst forward reaching within striking distance in only a moment's time.

“Tai, Ren!” (Zil)

Owen swung his massive great sword, and in turn Zil and Ren swung their weapons respectively meeting Owen’s own. Tai took the opportunity to climb Owen’s sword, and jump up in an attempt to cut his neck, but Owen was far too strong for Zil and Ren too handle.

Both Zil and Ren were only able to hold out for a seconds worth of time before being blown back by Owen’s sheer force, and Tai was sent flying by the broadside of Owen’s great sword.

I sped up, and closed my eyes casting Flare right in front of myself in an attempt to blind him. I swung my machete with my other hand and I felt as it cut through flesh and as blood began to splatter onto my hand.

But as I opened my eyes, I was suddenly jolted to the side and sent flying. What was that? Something hit me, and then Owen smacked me with his great sword like a baseball.

“Demon, watch out!”, The female hobgoblin called out to me.

“Master to your right!” (Stella)

I was too late to react and I felt myself knocked to the side again, as multiple projectiles directly hit my right side. I watched as my health began to quickly plummet, and as blood began to flow down my arm.

I quickly opened my inventory and tapped one of the potions I got from the beginning restoring a bit of health. What was that?

“You were hit by a spell” (Giri)

A spell? I propped myself up, and turned to my right. Standing there was a female magician covered in a purple robe holding a large wooden staff. She began chanting something incomprehensible at a ridiculous speed and four large balls of fire began to slowly form.

I tried to analyze her only to receive a bunch of question marks. Shit, when was there another person over twenty levels higher than me in this village? And a mage at that!

I contact Stella, have your remaining Flesh Devil’s kill that mage! Quick!

“I can’t she set up a barrier, and anyone who’s caught going near her will be detained by the rest of the Adventurers and villagers.” (Stella)

I turned to look at the Hobgoblins, “Retreat!” (Zil)

Damn it, I activated Mind Control, and had them shoot Owen only to have the arrows met with a barrier. That wasn’t there earlier…

Don’t tell me the mage, god damn it! Will a Musket be able to pierce that? Should I even risk it?

There’s no time! I charged back at Owen who looked at me with the eyes of pity, he raised his sword and charged at me once, “Die!” (Owen)

Let’s hope this works! I pulled out the Flashy Coin, and threw it too the side. And as it landed on the floor it began to radiate a golden light causing everyone to turn towards it, including Owen.

I pulled out the Ancient Musket, and shot Owen at near point blank range only to have it caught by a transparent barrier. I threw the musket back into my inventory, and pull out my pistol and held it towards his forehead.

“Die!” (Blade)

And as I pulled the trigger, Owen turned back around and swung his sword at me. And with no other choice I blocked the strike with my machete. But even after being distracted for a moment the strike had enough force to send me fly, and I was knocked away.

Shit, did I get him?
