This will be my very first ever story I am going to share with anyone so I don't have a lot of experience but here's hoping I'm not too much of a noob at this and that you like it :D

I am going to be whipping out some pics and history before I start so that you can get a handle on my story universe

History

Eons ago on a world ten times greater than earth there thrived a species that much resembled earth trees. This species of alien were born sentient and communicated with their consciousness cores via a great mind network. The network would provide for them a mental realm in which they would congregate and share with one another speaking directly to each others spiritual selves.

Their world was harsh and many seedlings would not reach adulthood but the great network bonded them and they were content.

When a spire tree reaches adulthood it begins to condense psionic energy into a solid form, a crystal, cocooning a fertilized seed. when the seed is fertilized it releases itself from its growth spot on the branch of its maternal tree and hovers above its wide canopy where the crystallization of psion energy takes place. Once matured the seed is fired from the canopy like a missile with extreme force into the direction of the nearest ocean waters. At the bottom of the ocean the seedling would grow among its siblings using the rich soil found there and the crystallized energy as fuel to grow. Once fully matured the spire tree would then make its way to the surface to settle its roots and continue the cycle.

The great ancient trees that would even cast a shadow over great skyscrapers can fire hundreds and even thousands of seedlings at once.

The spire trees were discovered by a great space faring alien empire that discovered they could tap into the spire crystal energy. Millions of seedlings were harvested to experiment with and develop the technology that would make their empire stronger. Then billions more were harvested and planted across the stars to be cultivated so that more spire seedlings could be harvested.

Of course the alien race was not aware of the sentience of the trees and had not realized the great tragedy that they incurred on them by aborting trillions of infant seedlings. They did not realize that even as they snuffed the lives of trillions they exploded the population of a potential threat by many magnitudes. The day the tree spire population moved as one and rebelled billions of their enslavers died, in weeks trillions were dead. In a year an empire that spanned a considerable minute fraction of the Milky Way crumbled.

The spire trees absorbed many of their captors forcibly taking knowledge from them which they then applied to themselves. The most ancient and massive of the spire trees remolded themselves like clay into great long spires integrating much of the alien technology to make themselves space worthy. With this adaptation the worlds they could not reach suddenly became targets of their wrath as well.

The surrounding empires feared these new aliens and mounted a great offensive to drive the spire trees back to the surface of their world. Even to this day the war continues to rage on.
