《Heart Cores have hobbies (HIATUS)》Chapter 6

In a peaceful fantasy tropical rainforest, at the roots of the trees, a strange small creature was passing throughout them, at first it looked that the creature was exploring.

Then the calm and peacefullness was lost, with the sudden arrow flying from behind the creature, with intense speed, it broke the rainforest's silence with the noise that the arrow made, entering the creature's skull from behind.

Having a fast death, it did not even have time to turn his back around, to see who had killed him.

That creature was no other than an Imp, a blue level 4 Imp.

Coming in sight, leaving the cover of the trees, new lifeforms appeared, they had pink skin, but they were not of the same race.

The one that had shot the little Imp, was a sizeable female creature of 1,8 metres, with pink skin, blond hair and sharp long ears, holding the bow that had shot the deadly arrow, wearing green cloth clothes.

"The coast is cleared my friends." The elf said to his comrades.

"Na beasts in sight? ah wanted tae gie they guys a taste o' mah ain axe!" Closing in behind the elf, a small pink skin creature was slowly walking to her, with a long red beard and the size of 1,5 metres, a dwarf.

This dwarf had more armour and carried a shield of spikes and an axe, unlike his friendly elven archer who had only a bow.

"Do not worry my friend, at which hour we reach the chaos lord's dungeon, you shall have much to do!" A third figure replied to the dwarf, measuring 1,8 metres, with silver colored armour and a greatsword, he was a human, with a black smaller beard compared to the dwarf.

The dwarf and elf looked back, they were surprised to see this human.

"Inquisitor, please bade wi' oor main force, tae lose ye, wid be a muckle loss fur oor maist wondrous empire!" The dwarf asked the human, for both he and the elf cared about his safety.

"Please accept mine own apologies, but my own lodging is at the front of the battlefield!" The Human inquisitor insisted on staying with the scouting unit.

"Aye!" The dwarf accepted.

Suddenly, another blue Imp appeared, coming from the direction in wich the pink skins where heading out.

But once again, the archer, with another arrow, quickly disposed of this new enemy scout.

The scouting Unit continued its way, without noticing that they were being watched by a black crow stading on one of the nearby trees.

As they left the area, continuing forward, the crow stood his position, awaiting to see if something else was following the three warriors.

A few moments afterwards, a new group appeared, this one was larger in size, with heavy armored warriors leading the way to meet with their Inquisitor.

Blue:

The decision to leave some of my Imps to patrol the surface area near my territorial body was good one, but I never had thought that such a high level Inquisitor would be searching for me.

(The flock of crows that I accepted as my minions are good for something after all!)

I immediately ordered all of my minions on the surface to return, so I could prepare for the possible battle that was soon to happen.

(It seems the Inquisitor's level is above 23, the two accompanying him are both level 16 and most of the main group are level 8 or 9.) I informed Krogar as I had ordered him to leave Red's territory.

My orcs were level 8, but I only had a short number of them, a dozen of my goblins were between level 6 and 8, while most of my minions where below level 6.

"Milord, is it not possible to use your move spell?" Krogar suggested to his master, as he prepared the strongest warriors in the Garrison room.

(Yes, but if I do it right now, Red will be destroyed, so first I must make him learn the spell.) I informed Krogar.

This was not the first time I had encountered a stronger enemy than me, but we Heart Cores had a special spell, from wich we could teleport both our bodies and all of our belongings to a random area.

The name of this spell is "Another Chance", and it could only be used every 60 days.

And the reason why I told Red to bring his possessed Imp, was to see if he could get the spell once he had the sight of this much stronger enemy.

(Be ready for the order to fight the pink skins, but also be prepared to fall back at any time!)

"Yes Milord!" Krogar roared.

Red:

"Pink skins!" Blue informed me of what I had seen.

"So those are pink skins?" I mumbled as I got a new tab informing me of a new spell.

You have encountered an enemy much stronger than you!

Another Chance spell is now unlocked!

"I got a new spell!" I informed Blue, with my Imp releasing a smile.

"Is it Another Chance?" Blue asked me.

"Yeah, how do you know that?"

"Because that is the reason I asked you to come here! We both must use it to escape from the pink skins as they are too strong!"

Blue was very nervous as he took threat very seriously, he hurried my Imp to follow him again to his Sleeping Chamber.

Again I ran after him, but this time, after passing trough the room full of his warriors, there was also plenty of reserve goblins guarding the path alongside with many other small creatures.

"They killed another two Imps!" Blue's Imp screamed in the open.

I ordered my Imp who was mining gold to return the moment I listened to Blue's scream.

We ran and ran until our imps reached the exit of his sleeping chamber that led to my territorial body.

"This is it, goodbye and good luck, and I hope we see each other again in the future... Hopefully not as enemies..." Blue bid farewell the moment my Imp left his territorial body.

"But..." I tried to reply to him, but I did not even had a chance to say goodbye.

Everything that he had, disappeared, the room that was once a sleeping chamber, turned into a normal cavern.

"I guess now its my turn..." I mumbled as my Imp kept running back to my territory.

With the possession spell canceled, Robur and my two imps stood in the Heart room.

"Boss, is something wrong?" Robur asked me.

"It is nothing Robur, just make sure to guard this room." I ordered my named goblin and imps.

I had a strange pain in my thoughts, and so much confusion, but finaly I decided to use the spell.

(Sigh, I want to use the Another chance spell...)

Using Another Chance will cost you 20 mana and will only be available again in 60 days.

Do you wish to use this skill?

Yes? No?

(Yes...)

Inquisitor:

Until now, our expedition only encountered two small demons, but at the moment we arrived at the dungeon's entrance, I felt a strong presence, assuring how our intel was right about this location, and so I ordered our scouting party to wait for the main force.

A battle force of 50 men was under my command, with 20 of them being my personal guard, at the beginning, I was still unsure if we had enough men to face a threat of a Chaos lord, so I was glad when the mayor of closest town agreed to support me with 30 foot soldiers, and while they were not as strong as my men, having backup was always an advantadge.

The moment our main force arrived, I immediately ordered my heavy infantry to lead forward.

"Careful men! We do not know what crawls inside this fiendish carvern!" I warned my warriors, following them from behind along with the elven girl who lead my ranged troops, while my reinforcements were in the back, as a reserve troop.

"Shift wi' caution mah comrades!" Said the dwarven warrior, taking the lead of the heavy infantry.

We moved slowly, taking extra care for every corner as we did not know what evils would be under this Chaos lord's control.

Reaching a corner, the dwarven warrior was the first to sprint, as he encountered the first supposed defensive enemy force.

"Only two babbling demons?" The dwarven said, as he slashed the first blue Imp with his axe.

Following him, one of the heavy armored warriors threw his spear at the second Imp who tried to escape the fate of his kin, that same warrior quickly drew his sword after the trowing in case there was a hidden enemy.

"Strange, where are the monsters? The monstrous vile orcs and despicable goblins?" I asked my warriors the question that everyone was having in their minds.

This was a strange situation, I thought of the possibility of a major trap.

But I was wrong, the previous strong presence suddenly got much weaker.

"No! The terrible vile escapes!" I screamed at my men, running past them, going deeper underground.

"Inquisitor! Hauld yer horses!" The dwarf asked his commander, as their unit was trying to keep up with their leader.

Suddenly the weaker presence totally disappeared.

Stoping to a halt, my men finally caught up with me.

"The Chaos Lord... has escaped!" I informed my men.

Disappointed at myself, I no longer took lead and instead left my men the duty of inspecting the empty caverns.

The Elven archer approached me as I sat on a rock in the middle of one of the largest caverns.

Laying down next to me, she held my arm, trying to comfort me.

"Do not worry my love, the Chaos Lord shall not escape next time as you are a mighty Inquisitor." She mumbled to me, giving me a warm kiss.
