《Aliad - Tale of Zed [Dropped]》Chapter 36.3 - Secrets Under The Moonlight and Chapter 37 - It Begins...

I put the last part of 36 and a new chapter together. Chapter 37 is very short, its more of a transitional chapter than anything. Hope you guys enjoy it. I may put up chapter 38 later or tomorrow but we'll see.
------------------------------
I was shocked for a bit at the fact that he would bring it up so quickly and said, “Are you willing to do anything for the country?”
I wanted to probe him first to see what he knew.
“I am,” he said his expression unchanging.
“Zed, this country is everything to me, to us. It is our job as the rulers to help guide it in the right direction.”
“Even if it means to cause distrust with the other countries?” I asked probing deeper.
He looked at me and said, “Yes.”
I was about to say something when he cut me off and said, “Listen to me first. I know you are still young and don’t understand much yet. But trust us, trust father, he knows that what he’s doing is for the good of the country.”
He stood up and put one hand on my shoulder and said, “Leave the affairs of politics to us while you worry about your Institute and win this competition. No matter what happens, we are proud of you brother.”
He handed me his hand and I took it getting up.
“I’ll go talk to sister about getting rid of their excommunication. Go on and rest, you have a big day tomorrow.”
After saying that, I left the room and headed to our bus.
Not even a minute passed when I felt a tremor shake through the building.
I lost balance a bit then ran back to my brother’s room to check on him.
He looked fine but he too was bewildered.
“It felt close, go check on your sisters, I’ll check with father and Salazar,” he told me.
I nodded and left to find my sisters. Salazar and my parent’s rooms were nearby each other but my sisters were a bit farther away from them. Splitting up to check on them all was a good decision.
I found my sisters well in their rooms. Eustasia and Serephine were alright but Alexandra was getting up from the ground.

“Are you guys alright?” I asked worried.
“Its nothing, its just a tremor,” said Eustasia first and Serephine last. Whenever those two are together they always end each other’s sentences.
“Just a tremor? You two were always like that,” said Alexandra as she got up from the ground, “Unlike you two, I can’t just stay standing when the whole building is shaking.”
Seeing that they were alright I said, ”Leon is checking up on the rest, lets catch up with him.”
We ran to my father’s room and there we saw a shocking scene.
There was father, lifeless on the ground. Seeing him, I felt sad and I couldn’t understand why. I never liked him but he was still my father. Perhaps it was that bond that made me this way.
Across from him, near where we were was my mother and my brothers. Mother was protected behind my brothers who were staring at the figures next to my father’s corpse.
I had thought it was just shadows, but there was wood surrounding my father everywhere.
Following the wood, I saw a dark aura surrounding…
“Elenia.”
It was Elenia. Around her were bodies of her teammates. They too looked lifeless.
“Master, look behind her,” said Malakir.
I did and I saw Rico Vlad behind Elenia. He was smiling as if everything he wanted was right before his eyes.
*Evil Laugh*
“Who knew everything would go so smoothly! Elenia my puppet. Kill them All. For the glory of God!” shouted Rico.
Chapter 37 - It Begins...
Elenia obeyed his command and started attacking us with those wooden vines.
Everyone was still shocked and I cast “Magic Shield” around us. I then summoned Galahad and Chronos and told them,” Take everyone out of here.”
The both of them took my family into their arms or shoulders and ran away with them. My family were struggling saying things like, “We’ll help. Let us go!” but I knew my summons would not listen to them and they were safer this way.
“Dark Star,” shouted Rico and a black meteor shot straight to my magic shield and shattered it.
I was shocked and deployed another one, but it also didn’t work.

I grit my teeth and cast “Distortion Binds” on the meteor. It stopped it but the chains looked like they were rusting.
I had no time to be shocked as Elenia’s attacks started on me again. I dodged it all by casting, “Accelerate” but it still wasn’t enough.
I ran outside though the window and saw that everywhere was chaos.
There were more people with that dark aura outside and they were killing everyone. I had no time to worry about everyone else and summoned Malakir to help me.
“Malakir, how do I get Elenia back?”
“That aura seems to be a mind control spell. You may have to get rid of the aura by using a purification spell or you can get rid of the controller.”
Getting rid of the controller was harder than it looked especially since I didn’t know who it was. It may be Rico who controlled her but what if it was someone else not here?
I told Malakir to dispel the mind control spell while I fended off their attacks.
Luckily Rico didn’t try to catch up to me and just left it to Elenia. Even still, it was difficult to stop her attacks.
When I got out of the room I had casted “Flight” on me and wings appeared behind my back. This allowed me to fly in the air. Of course this was made hastily and I have no idea how long it’s going to last so Malakir had to get done quickly.
Elenia’s attacks were troublesome but at least they were all only wood. Sadly, when we got out, she was able to control all the wood around us which meant that I had to worry about all the trees everywhere.
I couldn’t use any large spells, as it may endanger everyone else around us which put me in a bind.
To help everyone who was fleeing, I cast “Heaven’s Rain”. This affected everyone but it seemed to make those in the dark aura to move much slower.
This made it easier to dodge attacks and get her to focus on me.
After some time, Malakir finished getting his spell ready and used it against Elenia.
She tried to block it but I made sure that she wouldn’t by casting “Stop”.
It worked and when Malakir’s spell, which was a small green bolt, hit her. The dark aura disappeared, the wood began to crumble and she started falling to the ground.
I caught her but at that moment “Flight” ended and I frantically tried to get another “Flight” spell up. Malakir helped me as the ground was rushing to meet me at a fast pace. The wings this time was much larger almost four times as large than I was. The speed was faster too.
We fled the Academy and I used “Wind Sight” to be able to tell where everyone else was.
I found them inside the bus that we were using and it was fleeing to the west. Inside the bus were also Sasha, Alex and Kaiser.
I flew next to the moving bus and a window opened, large enough for me to fly in. I went in and crashed into Kaiser who grunted out, “Nice welcome.”
After having put Elenia where she could rest, I listened to everyone’s stories.
At about the same time that the tremor was felt, people started having a dark aura appear around them. They then started attacking everyone and killed them.
Everyone started to panic and ran away everywhere. My friends when they saw my family and Galahad and Chronos took them in and fled with them. They wholeheartedly believed that I would catch up.
On Galahad and Chronos, they were able to slow me down enough when I entered to not crush Kaiser too bad and then went back inside me.
After listening to their story, I then told them about what happened in my father’s room.
They had expressions of anger all around them but they held it in knowing that they couldn’t do anything. I mean even my magic shield was broken.
“So what now?” Alex asked.
“We’re going to the Lunaria Federation,” said Sasha, “they are the second most powerful country in the Lunaria continent. They’ll help us, I know he will.
We accepted and changed our course.

How to have fun in an apocalypse (Rewrite)
After spending an unsavory amount of time in hell, our protagonist finally manages to escape the place that had kept him captive for so long... again. Unfortunately, even after plotting and planning for years, he ends up in a place not much different from the burning and agonizing Tartarus he once had to call home. Guts, blood, and carnage start to reign over Earth as soon as he set foot in it, much to his dismay. What use is it to cry over spilled milk, though? Tired of the monotony of endless torture, he steps into the world intending to have as much fun as possible. While others might try to raid the Orc Lord with as many people as possible, why not challenge him to an arm-wrestling tournament? The power of friendship will surely be on his side. Why hide from the big, bad wolf in one of your houses if wearing camo in plain sight should have the same effect? Now, making friends and going on adventures would be perfectly fine, if it wasn't for the fact that he hides a few more secrets than one might think at first. This is a complete rewrite! Due to being unsatisfied with the previous version, I have decided to work the story up, beginning from the older chapters! Version 2.0 includes: - enhanced writing and editorial skills - additional information and aspects to characters - minor deviation from storyline and improvements

The Eternal Vigil
The year is 2220, a time when governments and nation-states are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, all prominent parts of human society are now organizing around the commands of three great Artificial Intelligences, owned and operated by the world's largest corporation. World peace has been achieved, and the very word 'politics' has disappeared from people's lips. Religion has largely disappeared, replaced in some parts by worshipping of the great AIs, but mostly substituted by a devotion to material goods and faith in the market. There is now a general consensus that the best form of government has been found. No, it is not democracy, nor is it autocracy or oligarchy. Instead, it is technocracy - rule by the learned, the intelligent, and the skilled. And who are more learned, intelligent, and skilled than the great AIs? Exactly, no one. The AIs will correct some market failures once in a while, but shall otherwise let the market be free. After all, the freer the market, the freer the people. Some may question how society advanced to this stage, but that is all they will do - question. Because they will not find answers, for history is no longer taught anywhere. After all, it is not a practical subject. One cannot get a decently paying job with a history degree. Society doesn't have any time for people to idly ponder about the past. No, this is a practical society of practical people: engineers, doctors, lawyers, developers, managers, bankers, soldiers, and the such. My name is Aiden Scivit and I used to be one such practical man: minding my own business, doing my job, with the faith that hard work will always be rewarded by the market...and that politics and philosophy were things thought of by idly people who leech off society. But this all changed, and here is my story, my history. Just because the stories of ages long past have been erased, does not mean that a brand new beginning cannot be created. The story is already finished but I still need to do some editing so a chapter should be released each day for a month. It is a bit political, as you can probably tell by the introduction, so there is that (it will low-key read like a philosophy dump 10% of the time, so really it's like Atlas Shrugged but liberal and worse lol). Also, I actually wrote this in grade 10 as part of my MYP Personal Project, and recently touched up on it for online publication. Finally, if you find the writing style passable and are interested in my other works, check out the one in the link below. It is a fantasy set in the Ancient Greek world, and is completed and uploaded in full: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/35099/the-oresteia-modernized
