Hidden from the sight of the ordinary are the fairies. For many years, the fairies had walked alongside the humans but that changed when the scheming humans heard about the longevity of the fairies and sought it for themselves. They slaughtered the king in cold blood, in hopes that the act would grant them even a small part of his longevity.

Greed has always ended times of peace.

The queen of the fairies, Emmeralde, cast a curse upon the human race. Those corrupt of heart, even in the slightest would be unable to see fairies or use magic. Only the few humans, those pure of heart, could still see the fairies and use magic.

Many generations passed, both for the short-lived humans, and the long-lived fairies. To the humans, fairies had become but a myth. Children often saw fairies, but adults would convince them that they were nothing more than a figment of their imagination. They would grow into adults who could neither see nor believe in the fairies.
