Author Memo: Greetings creatures! It took me some time because I was bored... It's the fault of my boredom! It all her fault! And I was reading too...
Anyway, I'm here and I'll need to be sure of one thing, so I'll put a poll.
Let's stop the blablabla and let's read the chapter!
-----------
It took us 2 days running in an almost straight line to get to human camp.
We got ourselves dirtier and more tired. It was afternoon when we got to go to them, we hadn’t eat anything on the morning too and the lunch. I covered my eyes before they could see us and used that time to use a little magic to make my eyes almost complete white. So that way no one would ask why I was covering it.
She took my left hand because on my right I had the cane Lance have gave me before we had gone. It was old and it looked more branch then a cane.
She “guided” me to the closest human. He was one of the knights I had heard.
“Stop right there!” He ordered us. “What bring two kid to this part of the world? Where are your parents and why do you two look so tired?” He started making some quests before Yoko could start her story.
“Mister Knight, we ran away from some beastmen that was chasing us. *sob* He is my brother and is blind. Mother died fighting them *sob* and father… *sob*” Wow! She is crying! It’s super effective! If I was the guy I would try to comfort her. I hugged her because… she was crying.
“Sorry mister…” I looked to him. I could see him, but to make it look like I was just reacting to his voice just my face was facing him. “Father died before her eyes… I had heard him screaming and after that a soft and liquid sound… like when you slash some meat… and then she screamed and got my hand to run to some place…” It was now that Yoko had calmed her fake sobs so she could get the story known.
“We’re running for 4 days *sob* our food had finished two days ago *sob* and we couldn’t hunt any animal. And I had tried what I could!” She had looked to the guard and her eyes were moist and red. It’s an amusing skill she have… He smiled kindly when he heard that she couldn’t hunt. “And brother tried to try… but he hear them but he couldn’t hit them too… so when I saw you we were really happy!” She smiled to him. “We got here to try to ask for help…” This time she used a puppy eyes! It’s effective! He wants to give food to her… but he looks troubled… probably they are short of food because Lance was harassing them?

“I really wanted to help… but… he really is blind?” He have a dubious look on his face. Well I would suspect too, but now I’m proud that I am ‘blind’, just useing magic though… “Could I ask you to remove the cloth from your eyes?” He asked me, I nodded.
I took it off easily, and open my eyes looking to where I could see him. He makes a strange face and ask me to cover it again.
“Other people always did that face when they ask to see his eyes, thats why mom gave him the cloth.” Yoko said while I was wearing it back.
“Sorry, we had been attacked by the beastmen for almost two months, so everyone here is nervous when near new people. Oh, I never asked your names. You can call me Mogir, I’m one of the Knights that had the mission to clean this area of the control of the beastmen.” He said with a proud and determined voice.
“Sorry! I forgot to gave you our names!” Yoko wiped out her tears with her sleeve. “My name is Hellen and this is my brother Droki!” She smiled to him. “We could ask to stay with you… until we could get to go to some city?” She made a cute face to him.
He scratches his head. “If I could I would leave… but I need to ask to the captain first… Wait here a little.” He walks a little and yell. “HEY FRANK! LOOK AT THIS TOO FOR ME? I NEED TO BRING THE CAPTAIN HERE!” Wow, he really have a powerful voice!
His friend came and started to talk in low voice. I could sense that he was angry, his gestures were rude. But Mogir punched some sense in him, literally.
After that the guy walked to us and sat in the ground. Without much to do we did the same. But I had Yoko guide me to sit too.
He didn't tried to talk to us and just looked annoyed there. It was half an hour later that he ordered us to stand up because the captain was coming.
"Sorry to make you wait. It took me sometime to finish my business, it looks like the beastmen are near and in a day or two we will be confronting them." The captain looked at us. His eyes... He had more mana them the guys near us but he isn't a mage or wizard. He probably use it on his sword style. “I'm the one who is leading this expedition to hunt the beastmen and use them as slaves. They have a lot of uses.”
"Captain, what are we going to do with this two kids?" The knight that was looking at us asked.

"It is simple." He smiled to the guy. "May I ask, how old are you guys?"
"I'm 10! My brother is 13!" Yoko happily jumped and answered. 'I know that she looked like a 10 year old girl... but this behavior... she really looks like she have 10 years...'
"Hum... We could use the boy, but I heard you're blind, so you can't use any weapon we have..." He said in low voice, but I could hear every word.
"You two aren't that young and the boy would be almost an adult now, more two years and we could use your help." He said to me. "But I need to ask, do you know how to use a weapon?"
I shook my head to him. "I just had helped father in the farm." It's a half truth. "Sister always helped mom at home though..." I said after remembering this line.
"I just helped mom do the dishes... So I'm not that skilled at anything else..." Yoko said in a shy tone.
The captain Englod Truin Gloid, he said his name after remembering that he didn’t had said it, said that he would leave us use a tent but we would need to help in the place and we would always be guarded by two soldiers.
He gave me to help to move some crops from the rear to the kitchen and Yoko was helping in the kitchen. She was peeling and cutting things.
That night came the second part of our plan. I started after making sure that everyone was sleeping. I didn’t need to go out to do it, I just needed to chant the magic. It was a weather magic. It was prepared to make the next day cloudy so that it would be dark.
It took me half an hour to finish it. It was not that tiring but it consumed almost half of my mana. Now I just need to wait for Lance’s team to come and start the war.
But it didn’t came. The next day went like the day before, no one attacked neither them leave us alone more than the time needed.
At noon I carried the supplies to the kitchen, Yoko was there doing the same thing she did yesterday. I would always carry my cane and make it bump in things or people lightly, just to know what or if it had a person there. Some people would look at me annoyed, but after seeing my clothed eyes they would apologize and ask to me to be more cautious… If I wanted I could break their legs or arms, but Lance asked me to maintain a low profile.
It took was after 3 days that the notice that they had seen the beastmen scouts. We were walking all that time, but as expected, they were so cautious that they would just walk for a fourth day before stopping.
When I heard the news the captain came to our tent. It was almost midnight and I would have started changing the weather again to make another cloudy day. He just apologized and entered the tent. Luckily I had sensed his mana coming, so we were waiting for him.
“I came to ask both of you to stay at your tent tomorrow. We got news that the beastmen would attack at the morning. I agreed to help you two, but if my men and me perish tomorrow I want you two to live. If it is to be as slaves, that would be horrible, but it would be better than die at the forest.” He said, but I could feel it, he isn’t believing in us. He suspect that we are here to kill them, but nothing happened so he could be sure. His… eyes and smell says he want to believe, but his manners show that he will not believe.
He talked more trivial things like what we would do if we were to get out or what I will be doing after this. I could care less, but I said that I would help my sister. He left after that and I made once more the weather magic. Another cloudy day would be awaiting them.
The next morning we did everything faster. The battle had sank into everyone and they were nervous. When we had finished doing the things we needed we ran to our tent and I took the ring out of its hidden place. We took of everything that was inside it and changed our gear waiting for the battle to start.
Our body was more human like, our weapons were hidden near us and Yoko and I were sitting facing each other waiting for the signal.
It came faster than we had thought. Yoko was excited and she was smiling happily, I was nervous but for some reason my head was clear and I was smiling. Ours body had changed back. I was in my draconian form and Yoko was as usual, a foxwoman.
We ran to the battle when the first sword sound had come to us.

If you find the 'notes' too boring or too info-dumpy, feel free to skip them and just read the main chapters. They're there for the reader to understand Gin's world (written in the perspective of Gin). But later on, we can see some interactions between the main characters and the occasional references to his past in the notes, so it has its purpose.
