《The Inventor of Magic》13: Many POVs
Advertisement
Right so I haven't hit the 2k mark yet, but this is still the longest chapter to date. Yay! I am going to work my way up to around 2.5k and then we'll see where it goes. Well here's chapter 13 which I've aptly named Many POVs, enjoy! ^O^
>>>Zach POV
"Out of the way!!!", I shouted as I barrel led down the sidewalk, pedestrians jumping left and right to get out of my path.
"DON'T RIDE ON THE SIDEWALK!", an older gentleman roared in response as he dived into a very alluring bush.
This wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for that jerk driver, why would he drive on the wrong side of the road, it forced me to ride onto the side walk.
*Screeech!*
Suddenly I pupil on the brakes and slide almost horizontally on the bike before gradually coming to a halt. Why did I stop? Simple, it's because there was a news-agents. I do forget a lot of things on a day to day basis, well I would. I have so much on my schedule that I have to forgot some of the things I've already done in order to focus on the task at hand but unlike other days I haven't forgotten the old bike shop owners request in exchange for this bike.
I, Zach Morton. Will buy a newspaper!
*Ding ding*
"Hello.",
"Hi, can I have a newspaper please.",
"Sure, which one would you like?", the old shop keeper said with a sweet smile.
"Er, surprise me.",
"Ummm okay, how about, 'The Standard'.",
"That will do, how much do I owe you.",
I said as I fished around in my back pocket for my wallet and upon locating it I pay the lady the money and set off again towards the bike shop with the paper under my arm.
>>>Lucy POV
*Riiii~ing*
Thank god! That was the end of day bell. So much for a 'physical' lesson, I practically did nothing! It was all Miss Crow teaching people how to channel mana through their bodies. This is Class A! Every one here knows how to use their mana. I wonder if Zach's class was any better?
Without waiting for the teachers dismissal I quickly leave the training field and walk to the school gates. Dad said that he'd make time to take me home after school and I hope he'll maintain his promise.

I lent against the wall in front of the school and looked up to see if my dad arrives. There are many different parents coming to receive their children and Silyan being the rich school that it is, most of the parents have already bought [Flight] arrays for their families so there were a lot of silver wings in the sky coming towards Silyan.
Of course dad has a pair of Golden wings, there faster, more efficient and look much better. I've begged dad for a golden flight array but he hasn't given in yet. Apparently only dad and the original creator of the flight array have the golden wings but I'm sure that dad can persuade the creator to make some wings for me, afterall they must be in the company to start off with.
"Lucy!",
"Dad!", there he is coming down with his golden wings before gently landing on the ground in front of me.
Grinning Dad asks,"So~ how was your first day of school.",
"I don't want to talk about it. Activate array [Flight]", Mana gathered in my hand where my holo-phone was located before dispersing to my back and forming a pair of silver fairy wings.
Even though I do like these wings they can't even compare to the majesty brought forward by the golden wings.
I quickly flew into the sky and off into the direction of our Mansion. Dad quickly followed and easily matched my pace.
"Did you perform your speech well... representative.", he said cheekily.
"I shouldn't be the representative.", I muttered.
>>>Richard POV
"I shouldn't be the representative.", Lucy
muttered to herself but I heard her non the less.
"Why not? You put all effort into getting a good score on the proficiency test, why shouldn't you be the representative?", she really did a good job, practicing for the test. She spent months working out new ways to channel her mana to keep the flow steady.
"Someone beat my score.",
"What! Who?",
"A boy named Zach. They were going to make him the representative even if I was already the rep. But he just said that he didn't want to be the representative so I got left with it. How could he have beaten my score dad?",

Oh damn, with all the work I had to do today I totally forgot that I made arrangements for Zach to go to Silyan. "I don't know dear, how about we talk about something else. Did you make any new friends?",
That was smart of me to change the topic like that.
"Yes, I made friends with Zach. I wanted to find out how he beat me at the test but I haven't asked him yet.",
"Oh, really", ugh, what a confusing conversation. First she was sad about Zach beating him and now she is happy that she's made a friend, I really can't deal with this girl. She's too much like her mother.
>>>Zach POV
"Hello! Old man! I've come to return your bike!",
The old man came shuffling out of the back room like before.
"Did you buy me a paper?", the old man questioned, it seems like he wasn't expecting me to have done so.
"Yes, I hope you like The Standard because we didn't specify which newspaper you wanted in the beginning.",
Immediately the old man had a smile on his face," No, no this is quite fine. It's rare to see such honest young people these days. I thought I made quite the mistake after you left but since you've come back with the bike and bought me a paper too, if you ever need to borrow the bike the same deal is on the table okay?",
"Yes, I would appreciate that. Sorry, I've gotta go I have a lot of work to do and not a lot of time to do it.",
"Don't mind me.",
"See you."
"Bye",
I quickly left the shop after leaving the bike and paper with the old man before strolling out the shop.
Should I look around? No, I don't have time to do stuff like that. I've got the Armour and a variety of other projects which I still need to finish I quickly decide against that idea and head towards the alley that I originally landed in before with my wings.
It took me a while to find the alley and even then I had to leave that alley and find another due to a poorly placed drug dealer. I quickly around to check that I was safe before I simply teleported home with the teleport array.
Once at home I quickly unlocked the front door and walked directly to the telephone, after I had locked the front door behind me.
I quickly found Richards number and promptly gave him a call. To give him a piece of my mind.
---
>>>Richard POV
"-and so the physical lesson was-",
*Riiing* *Riiiiing*
"Sorry Lucy, I will make this call as quick as possible.",
Thank god for the opportune timing of a phone call, if I had to listen to that for much longer I don't think I could have standed it. I would have a headache at least by the time I got home.
"Yeah?", I said sounding a bit too happy at the same time.
"Damn you Richard! Do you even know what things I've been through today because of your terrible planning?!",
"And hello to you to. I'm flying home with my daughter at the moment do you think we could talk at another time?",
"Don't talk to me with your buissness voice Richard, first I find that David is the headmaster then I apparently got way too high a score for the bloody proficiency test and to top it all off it beseems someone forgot to tell me that Physical Enhancement wasn't allowed!",
"Calm down.",
"Dad, who is that?",
First it's one problem then it's another. No rest for the successful huh.
"Just a buissness partner of mine Lucy... You heard that, now we'll postpone this meeting for another time. Goodbye.",
"Damn you! Don't you dare hand u- *beeeeep* *beeeeeep*",
*sigh*
Putting the holo-phone away I turn back to Lucy. "Sorry about that.",
"It's fine but you shouldn't let people talk to you like that.",
"I know.",
"Good, now where was I... Ah yes, physical class.",
Oh no!

Despondent Divinity
There exists a Great Seal which split the world in two, one half ravaged by the Darkness, the other a safe haven of Light. Since the collapse of the old world, 20,000 years have passed, and the world watches on as their only protection from the Plague of Plagues slowly dissipates. Only the strong may survive the oncoming Demon horde, and the forgotten prince, Jack Calmira, fears he may not have what it takes. In a world where weakness is punished by death, what are weak men to do? Author's Note: Expect a chapter or two every month, but I'll get faster eventually. This story isn't a Wuxia, but it has a lot of eastern influence. The MC isn't OP and is flawed. Less action, more character driven. Constructive criticism would be appreciated as it's my first story. Chinese culture has inspired a lot of the novel, but much of it is an amalgamation of different cultures, some made up and some not. Think Xianxia + Shounen with a mix of western and eastern fantasy elements.
