>>>Zach POV
As soon as I entered the workshop a great feeling suddenly struck me! It was disappointment. Why on earth these people need such a big and 'modern' area to make and tune magic device is beyond me.
I myself only have two desks, a computer and various handheld tools to tinker with in my workshop yet Silyan has a workshop that won't lose out to a couple of basketball courts in size. What's more is that there are loads of fancy shmancy fabricating tools; lasers, band saws, mechanical presses, mana focusing crystals- oh never mind. They all have a bloody 'Improm Industries' stamp on them.
Richard, as Lucy's father, must have donated all this to the school just because Lucy was coming here. I'm onto you Richard, you won't hear the last of this...
A lot of people wearing various craft man's attire filled the workshop you could see the dedication on their faces. Some even looked to be students on Silyan.
"So what are we looking for?", Lucy asked inquisitively. For some reason she kept trying staring at me thoroughly, I don't know what it was about but I just ignored it for now.
"I'm looking for Mike.",
"What that craftsman that was on stage earlier?",
"Yes... Ah there he is over there, leaning against the wall.", Lucy and I quickly made our way over there whilst making sure not to disturb the craftsmen. Even though their work was terrible, it wouldn't be very polite now would it?
What should I call him, Mike? No that's too informal surely.
"Mr Mike.", I called out to him as I got closer.
The man seemed startled; nearly spilling the coffee he was holding and looked up as we got over to him. "Hello?",

"Hi, I'm Zach Morton a new student. I was wondering if it would be possible to borrow a Magic Device just for my first practical lesson.",
Putting down his coffee Mike looked at me as if annoyed and finally replied,"Sure follow me. But in future DON'T CALL ME MR MIKE (it makes me sound old).", he roared the last part before leading the way I thought I heard him mumble something at the end but since I wasn't sure I just ignored it.
Mike led us to a door at the end of the workshop and after entering Lucy and I let out a gasp of surprise. It was a whole room filled with stacks upon stacks of Magic Devices.
"These are all various spare Magic Devices we gave and those that students have made. There are a few donated by Improm Industries as well when they gave us the new workshop equipment. You can borrow any one you like, when you've found one come and see me and we'll work out when you need to return it.", with that Mike left whilst mumbling some things about coffee breaks being sacred.
Suddenly Lucy bounded ahead of me into the room and spoke whilst looking through the Magic Devices.
"Don't worry Zach, I will pick out a suitable Magic Device for you. Although it might not look like it, when it comes to Magic Devices I know a thing or two.",
"Great.", I said sarcastically before also beginning to search.

5 minutes later
---
"I've got one!", Lucy shouted as she pulled a Magic Device out of a pile of boxes and lifted it up high triumphantly.
"It's an early edition Improm make that is similar to the one used in the proficiency test. I'm sure that for someone like you who must have not had a lot of practice with Magic this will be perfect.",

Internally sighing I put on my best smile and say,"Thanks for the help Lucy, this will be perfect.".
After that I went to Mile to confirm that I needed to hand it in at the end of the day before walking out of the Workshop.
"Hey Zach, what should we do now?",
"I don't know, go to next lesson early?",
"Okay, we can wait in the classroom.",
And like that Lucy and I went to our next class early. For some reason she also sat next to me too, but I thought nothing of it.

Be careful what you wish for. The old saying holds true for many people, but none more so than Jaxson Stratford. An avid video game player and reader of post-apocalypse novels, Jax always wished for the chance to attain power and abilities like the heroes of the stories he read about. Then, he received his wish in the form of The System’s arrival. However the truth of reality in this new System dominated world, is something far worse than he could ever imagine. This story is similiar to many others on the site, but the 'System' is something I've thought about for some time. That being said, it is still being fleshed out, so don't expect the story to be amazing, but rather an entertaining read.
