*knock* *knock*
"Come in",
I pushed open the door and entered the office.
Inside was the headmaster (David) just like before, however this time he was holding a stack of papers.
"Ah, Zach. Now we just need to complete some official stuff to confirm your admission. Please sit down.", David said as he motioned towards a chair on the nearer side of the desk which I quickly sat down in.
David did the same and sat down in his on chair before pulling out a piece of paper and a pen.
"Okay, first of all there are just some simple questions to fill in: name, age, address, medical knowledge that we should know about. All that stuff. Here you go... Just fill it in, in your own time.",
Err, name? Zach Morton. Age, thirteen. Address. No medical conditions. ... .... .....
Done!
I pass the paper and pen back over David.
"Great. Next we just need to do a basic magic proficiency test.",
David pulled out a standard cylindrical magic device. It's one of my earlier models. Although it isn't an artistic masterpiece in the way of functionality it is one of the best I've designed.
"Okay I just need you to hold this and repeat after me.",
He passes me the device.
"Activate array T489G [Proficiency test].",
"Activate array T489G [Proficiency test].",
Following my command a simple hovering glowing ball appears above the end of the magic device.
If you think this 'test' is simple... You are right. But the actual test is how long you can keep the array active, it tests how well the user can keep up the mana flow to the device. After more time the array will require more mana to keep itself maintained in order to see how well the user can manipulate and maintain their limited mana flow.

"Now just maintain the array with a mana supply for as long as you can.",

>>>DAVID pov
I wonder how long he'll last. Currently the 1st year representative has a time of 2 minutes 26 and that is Richard's daughter Lucy. She must have been training at using magic since almost after it was invented. After she couldn't maintain it anymore she almost fainted and had to be helped to the infirmary.
"Do I need to do this?", said Zach.
"Y-yes of course. It determines which class group you get placed in and we can see how much you need to improve.",
Shouldn't he be concentrating on maintaining the mana flow?
"Which class group is Lucy Improm in?",
"A. Why?",
"How long do I have to keep this maintained to get into class group A.",
It's been over a minute, why is he still able to hold a conversation?! Let's test him.
"Five minutes should do.",
"Is that so? Okay.",
Zach stood up and walked over to a bookcase on the side of the office, whilst keeping the glowing orb visible at all times.
"What are you doing?",
"Well If I going to have to wait for five minutes I might as well have a look at what books you have.",
"Yes of course.",
2 minutes.
3 minutes.
4 minutes.
"Are you feeling tired at all?!",
This is the sort of result we had gotten from graduates, not 1st years!
"Yes very... Your supply of books is very tiresome indeed, you should really invest in some new ones.",
Zach turned around to face me. He hasn't even broke a sweat!? 10 seconds to go.
"Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. You can end the program now.",

I don't believe it.
"Here you are headmaster.", Said Zach as he handed me the device back.
"Well... Er... I will have your timetable sent to your sent to Class Group A for you in a while. Here's a map, go to this room here, they should be going through introductions or whatever the Class Group teacher has decided to do.",
"Yes Headmaster.", and with that Zach left the room.
I slump down into my chair laughing to myself hysterically. Damn it Richard!

Well I might have overdone it slightly there. Oh well, nevermind. Let's find Class Group A then.
